ומליל יי עם משה ולאהרן למימר להון:

Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying to them,

מלילו עם בני ישראל למימר דא חיתא די תיכלון מכל בעירא די על ארעא:
mlylw em bny yshral lmymr da khytha dy thyklwn mkl beyra dy el area
“Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘These are the living things which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth.

כל די סדיקן פרסתא ומטלפן טלפין פרסתא מסקא פשרא בבעירא יתה תיכלון:
kl dy sdyqn prstha wmTlpn Tlpyn prstha msqa pshra bbeyra ythh thyklwn
Whatever parts the hoof, and is cloven-footed, and chews the cud among the animals, that you may eat.

ברם ית דין לא תיכלון ממסקי פשרא וממסדיקי פרסתא ית גמלא ארי מסיק פשרא הוא ופרסתא לא סדיקא מסאב הוא לכון:
brm yth dyn la thyklwn mmsqy pshra wmmsdyqy prstha yth gmla ary msyq pshra hwa wprstha la sdyqa msab hwa lkwn
“‘Nevertheless these you shall not eat of those that chew the cud, or of those who part the hoof: the camel, because it chews the cud but doesn’t have a parted hoof, is unclean to you.

וית טפזא ארי מסיק פשרא הוא ופרסתא לא סדיקא מסאב הוא לכון:
wyth Tpza ary msyq pshra hwa wprstha la sdyqa msab hwa lkwn
The hyrax, because it chews the cud but doesn’t have a parted hoof, is unclean to you.

וית ארנבא ארי מסקא פשרא היא ופרסתא לא סדיקא מסאבא היא לכון:
wyth arnba ary msqa pshra hya wprstha la sdyqa msaba hya lkwn
The hare, because it chews the cud but doesn’t have a parted hoof, is unclean to you.

וית חזירא ארי סדיק פרסתא הוא ומטילפן טלפין פרסתיה והוא פשרא לא פשר מסאב הוא לכון:
wyth khzyra ary sdyq prstha hwa wmTylpn Tlpyn prsthyh whwa pshra la pshr msab hwa lkwn
The pig, because it has a split hoof, and is cloven-footed, but doesn’t chew the cud, is unclean to you.

מבסרהון לא תיכלון ובנבלתהון לא תקרבון מסאבין אנון לכון:
mbsrhwn la thyklwn wbnblthhwn la thqrbwn msabyn anwn lkwn
You shall not eat their meat. You shall not touch their carcasses. They are unclean to you.

ית דין תיכלון מכל די במיא כל די ליה ציצין וקלפין במיא ביממיא ובנחליא יתהון תיכלון:
yth dyn thyklwn mkl dy bmya kl dy lyh tsytsyn wqlpyn bmya bymmya wbnkhlya ythhwn thyklwn
“‘You may eat of all these that are in the waters: whatever has fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, that you may eat.

וכל די לית ליה ציצין וקלפין ביממיא ובנחליא מכל רחשא דמיא ומכל נפשא חיתא די במיא שקצא אנון לכון:
wkl dy lyth lyh tsytsyn wqlpyn bymmya wbnkhlya mkl rkhsha dmya wmkl npsha khytha dy bmya shqtsa anwn lkwn
All that don’t have fins and scales in the seas and rivers, all that move in the waters, and all the living creatures that are in the waters, they are an abomination to you,

ושקצא יהון לכון מבסרהון לא תיכלון וית נבלתהון תשקצון:
wshqtsa yhwn lkwn mbsrhwn la thyklwn wyth nblthhwn thshqtswn
and you shall detest them. You shall not eat of their meat, and you shall detest their carcasses.
12
כל די לית ליה ציצין וקלפין במיא שקצא הוא לכון:
kl dy lyth lyh tsytsyn wqlpyn bmya shqtsa hwa lkwn
Whatever has no fins nor scales in the waters is an abomination to you.
13
וית אלין תשקצון מן עופא לא יתאכלון שקצא אנון נשרא וער ועזיא:
wyth alyn thshqtswn mn ewpa la ythaklwn shqtsa anwn nshra wer wezya
“‘You shall detest these among the birds; they shall not be eaten because they are an abomination: the eagle, the vulture, the black vulture,

וית בת נעמיתא וציצא וצפר שחפא ונצא לזנוהי:
wyth bth nemytha wtsytsa wtspr shkhpa wntsa lznwhy
the horned owl, the screech owl, the gull, any kind of hawk,
17
וקריא ושלינונא וקפופא:
wqrya wshlynwna wqpwpa
the little owl, the cormorant, the great owl,
18
ובותא וקאתא וירקרקא:
wbwtha wqatha wyrqrqa
the white owl, the desert owl, the osprey,
19
וחוריתא ואבו לזנה ונגר טורא ועטלפא:
wkhwrytha wabw lznh wngr Twra weTlpa
the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe, and the bat.
20
כל רחשא דעופא דמהלך על ארבע שקצא הוא לכון:
kl rkhsha dewpa dmhlk el arbe shqtsa hwa lkwn
“‘All flying insects that walk on all fours are an abomination to you.
21
ברם ית דין תיכלון מכל רחשא דעופא דמהלך על ארבע די ליה קרצולין מעלוי רגלוהי לקפצא בהון על ארעא:
brm yth dyn thyklwn mkl rkhsha dewpa dmhlk el arbe dy lyh qrtswlyn melwy rglwhy lqptsa bhwn el area
Yet you may eat these: of all winged creeping things that go on all fours, which have long, jointed legs for hopping on the earth.

ית אלין מנהון תיכלון ית גובא לזנה וית רשונא לזנוהי וית חרגולא לזנוהי וית חגבא לזנוהי:
yth alyn mnhwn thyklwn yth gwba lznh wyth rshwna lznwhy wyth khrgwla lznwhy wyth khgba lznwhy
Even of these you may eat: any kind of locust, any kind of katydid, any kind of cricket, and any kind of grasshopper.

וכל רחשא דעופא די ליה ארבע רגלין שקצא הוא לכון:
wkl rkhsha dewpa dy lyh arbe rglyn shqtsa hwa lkwn
But all winged creeping things which have four feet are an abomination to you.
24
ולאלין תסתאבון כל דיקרב בנבלתהון יהי מסאב עד רמשא:
wlalyn thsthabwn kl dyqrb bnblthhwn yhy msab ed rmsha
“‘By these you will become unclean: whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening.
25
וכל דיטול מנבלתהון יצבע לבושוהי ויהי מסאב עד רמשא:
wkl dyTwl mnblthhwn ytsbe lbwshwhy wyhy msab ed rmsha
Whoever carries any part of their carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening.

לכל בעירא די היא סדיקא פרסתא וטלפין ליתהא מטלפא ופשרא ליתהא מסקא מסאבין אנון לכון כל דיקרב בהון יהי מסאב:
lkl beyra dy hya sdyqa prstha wTlpyn lythha mTlpa wpshra lythha msqa msabyn anwn lkwn kl dyqrb bhwn yhy msab
“‘Every animal which has a split hoof that isn’t completely divided, or doesn’t chew the cud, is unclean to you. Everyone who touches them shall be unclean.

וכל דמהלך על ידוהי בכל חיתא דמהלכא על ארבע מסאבין אנון לכון כל דיקרב בנבלתהון יהי מסאב עד רמשא:
wkl dmhlk el ydwhy bkl khytha dmhlka el arbe msabyn anwn lkwn kl dyqrb bnblthhwn yhy msab ed rmsha
Whatever goes on its paws, among all animals that go on all fours, they are unclean to you. Whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening.
28
ודיטול ית נבלתהון יצבע לבושוהי ויהי מסאב עד רמשא מסאבין אנון לכון:
wdyTwl yth nblthhwn ytsbe lbwshwhy wyhy msab ed rmsha msabyn anwn lkwn
He who carries their carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. They are unclean to you.
29
ודין לכון מסאבא ברחשא דרחש על ארעא חלדא ועכברא וצבא לזנוהי:
wdyn lkwn msaba brkhsha drkhsh el area khlda wekbra wtsba lznwhy
“‘These are they which are unclean to you among the creeping things that creep on the earth: the weasel, the rat, any kind of great lizard,

וילא וכחא וחלטיתא וחמטא ואשותא:
wyla wkkha wkhlTytha wkhmTa washwtha
the gecko, and the monitor lizard, the wall lizard, the skink, and the chameleon.
31
אלין דמסאבין לכון בכל רחשא כל דיקרב בהון במותהון יהי מסאב עד רמשא:
alyn dmsabyn lkwn bkl rkhsha kl dyqrb bhwn bmwthhwn yhy msab ed rmsha
These are they which are unclean to you among all that creep. Whoever touches them when they are dead shall be unclean until the evening.

וכל די יפל עלוהי מנהון במותהון יהי מסאב מכל מאן דאעא או לבוש או משך או שק כל מאן די תתעבד עבידא בהון במיא יתעל ויהי מסאב עד רמשא וידכי:
wkl dy ypl elwhy mnhwn bmwthhwn yhy msab mkl man daea aw lbwsh aw mshk aw shq kl man dy ththebd ebyda bhwn bmya ythel wyhy msab ed rmsha wydky
Anything they fall on when they are dead shall be unclean; whether it is any vessel of wood, or clothing, or skin, or sack, whatever vessel it is, with which any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the evening. Then it will be clean.
33
וכל מאן דחסף די יפל מנהון לגויה כל די בגויה יסתאב ויתיה תתברון:
wkl man dkhsp dy ypl mnhwn lgwyh kl dy bgwyh ysthab wythyh ththbrwn
Every earthen vessel into which any of them falls and all that is in it shall be unclean. You shall break it.

מכל מיכלא דמתאכל די יעלון עלוהי מיא יהי מסאב וכל משקה די ישתתי בכל מאן יהי מסאב:
mkl mykla dmthakl dy yelwn elwhy mya yhy msab wkl mshqh dy yshththy bkl man yhy msab
All food which may be eaten which is soaked in water shall be unclean. All drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean.
35
וכל די יפל מנבלתהון עלוהי יהי מסאב תנור וכירים יתרעון מסאבין אנון ומסאבין יהון לכון:
wkl dy ypl mnblthhwn elwhy yhy msab thnwr wkyrym ythrewn msabyn anwn wmsabyn yhwn lkwn
Everything whereupon part of their carcass falls shall be unclean; whether oven, or range for pots, it shall be broken in pieces. They are unclean, and shall be unclean to you.
36
ברם מעין וגוב בית כנישות מיא יהי דכי ודיקרב בנבלתהון יהי מסאב:
brm meyn wgwb byth knyshwth mya yhy dky wdyqrb bnblthhwn yhy msab
Nevertheless a spring or a cistern in which water is gathered shall be clean, but that which touches their carcass shall be unclean.
37
וארי יפל מנבלתהון על כל בר זרע זרוע די יזדרע דכי הוא:
wary ypl mnblthhwn el kl br zre zrwe dy yzdre dky hwa
If part of their carcass falls on any sowing seed which is to be sown, it is clean.
38
וארי יתיהבון מיא על בר זרעא ויפל מנבלתהון עלוהי מסאב הוא לכון:
wary ythyhbwn mya el br zrea wypl mnblthhwn elwhy msab hwa lkwn
But if water is put on the seed, and part of their carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.
39
וארי ימות מן בעירא די היא לכון למיכל דיקרב בנבלתה יהי מסאב עד רמשא:
wary ymwth mn beyra dy hya lkwn lmykl dyqrb bnblthh yhy msab ed rmsha
“‘If any animal of which you may eat dies, he who touches its carcass shall be unclean until the evening.
40
ודיכול מנבלתה יצבע לבושוהי ויהי מסאב עד רמשא ודיטול ית נבלתה יצבע לבושוהי ויהי מסאב עד רמשא:
wdykwl mnblthh ytsbe lbwshwhy wyhy msab ed rmsha wdyTwl yth nblthh ytsbe lbwshwhy wyhy msab ed rmsha
He who eats of its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. He also who carries its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening.
41
וכל רחשא דרחש על ארעא שקצא הוא לא יתאכל:
wkl rkhsha drkhsh el area shqtsa hwa la ythakl
“‘Every creeping thing that creeps on the earth is an abomination. It shall not be eaten.
42
כל דמהלך על מעוהי וכל דמהלך על ארבע עד כל סגיאות רגלאין לכל רחשא דרחש על ארעא לא תיכלנון ארי שקצא אנון:
kl dmhlk el mewhy wkl dmhlk el arbe ed kl sgyawth rglayn lkl rkhsha drkhsh el area la thyklnwn ary shqtsa anwn
Whatever goes on its belly, and whatever goes on all fours, or whatever has many feet, even all creeping things that creep on the earth, them you shall not eat; for they are an abomination.
43
לא תשקצו ית נפשתיכון בכל רחשא דרחש ולא תסתאבון בהון ותסתאבון פון בהון:
la thshqtsw yth npshthykwn bkl rkhsha drkhsh wla thsthabwn bhwn wthsthabwn pwn bhwn
You shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creeps. You shall not make yourselves unclean with them, that you should be defiled by them.
44
ארי אנא יי אלהכון ותתקדשון ותהון קדישין ארי קדיש אנא ולא תסאבון ית נפשתיכון בכל רחשא דרחש על ארעא:
ary ana yy alhkwn wththqdshwn wthhwn qdyshyn ary qdysh ana wla thsabwn yth npshthykwn bkl rkhsha drkhsh el area
For I am Yahweh your God. Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I am holy. You shall not defile yourselves with any kind of creeping thing that moves on the earth.
45
ארי אנא יי דאסק יתכון מארעא דמצרים למהוי לכון לאלה ותהון קדישין ארי קדיש אנא:
ary ana yy dasq ythkwn marea dmtsrym lmhwy lkwn lalh wthhwn qdyshyn ary qdysh ana
For I am Yahweh who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.
46
דא אוריתא דבעירא ודעופא ודכל נפשתא חיתא דרחשא במיא ולכל נפשא דרחשא על ארעא:
da awrytha dbeyra wdewpa wdkl npshtha khytha drkhsha bmya wlkl npsha drkhsha el area
“‘This is the law of the animal, and of the bird, and of every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that creeps on the earth,
47
לאפרשא בין מסאבא ובין דכיא ובין חיתא דמתאכלא ובין חיתא די לא מתאכלא:
laprsha byn msaba wbyn dkya wbyn khytha dmthakla wbyn khytha dy la mthakla
to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean, and between the living thing that may be eaten and the living thing that may not be eaten.’”
