1
ואקדים ירבעל הוא גדעון וכל עמא די עמיה ושרו על עין חרוד ומשרית מדינאי שריא לקבליה מצפונא מגבעתא דמסתכיא למישרא:
lmyshra dmsthkya mgbetha mtspwna lqblyh shrya mdynay wmshryth khrwd eyn el wshrw emyh dy ema wkl gdewn hwa yrbel waqdym
Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people who were with him, rose up early and encamped beside the spring of Harod. Midian’s camp was on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.

ואמר יי לגדעון סגי עמא די עמך מלממסר ית מדינאי בידיהון דלמא יתרברבון קדמי ישראל למימר ידנא פרקת לנא:
lna prqth ydna lmymr yshral qdmy ythrbrbwn dlma bydyhwn mdynay yth mlmmsr emk dy ema sgy lgdewn yy wamr
Yahweh said to Gideon, “The people who are with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel brag against me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’

וכען אכלי כען קדם עמא למימר מן דדחיל וזע יתוב ויתבחר מטורא דגלעד ותב מן עמא עסרין ותרין אלפין ועסרא אלפין אשתארו:
ashtharw alpyn wesra alpyn wthryn esryn ema mn wthb dgled mTwra wythbkhr ythwb wze ddkhyl mn lmymr ema qdm ken akly wken
Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, ‘Whoever is fearful and trembling, let him return and depart from Mount Gilead.’” So twenty-two thousand of the people returned, and ten thousand remained.

ואמר יי לגדעון עוד עמא סגי אחית יתהון למיא ואבחרינון לך תמן ויהי די אימר לך דין ייזיל עמך הוא ייזיל עמך וכל די אימר לך דין לא ייזיל עמך הוא לא ייזיל:
yyzyl la hwa emk yyzyl la dyn lk aymr dy wkl emk yyzyl hwa emk yyzyl dyn lk aymr dy wyhy thmn lk wabkhrynwn lmya ythhwn akhyth sgy ema ewd lgdewn yy wamr
Yahweh said to Gideon, “There are still too many people. Bring them down to the water, and I will test them for you there. It shall be, that those whom I tell you, ‘This shall go with you,’ shall go with you; and whoever I tell you, ‘This shall not go with you,’ shall not go.”

ואחית ית עמא למיא ואמר יי לגדעון כל די לחיך בלישניה מן מיא כמא דמלחיך כלבא תקים יתיה בלחודיה וכל דכרע על ברכוהי למשתי:
lmshthy brkwhy el dkre wkl blkhwdyh ythyh thqym klba dmlkhyk kma mya mn blyshnyh lkhyk dy kl lgdewn yy wamr lmya ema yth wakhyth
So he brought down the people to the water; and Yahweh said to Gideon, “Everyone who laps of the water with his tongue, like a dog laps, you shall set him by himself; likewise everyone who bows down on his knees to drink.”

והוה מנין דשדן בידיהון לפומהון תלת מאה גברא וכל שאר עמא כרעו על ברכיהון למשתי מיא:
mya lmshthy brkyhwn el krew ema shar wkl gbra mah thlth lpwmhwn bydyhwn dshdn mnyn whwh
The number of those who lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men; but all the rest of the people bowed down on their knees to drink water.

ואמר יי לגדעון בתלת מאה גוברין דשדן בידיהון לפומהון אפרוק יתכון ואמסר ית מדינאי בידך וכל עמא ייזלון גבר לאתריה:
lathryh gbr yyzlwn ema wkl bydk mdynay yth wamsr ythkwn aprwq lpwmhwn bydyhwn dshdn gwbryn mah bthlth lgdewn yy wamr
Yahweh said to Gideon, “I will save you by the three hundred men who lapped, and deliver the Midianites into your hand. Let all the other people go, each to his own place.”

ונסיבו ית זודי עמא בידיהון וית שפריהון וית כל אנש ישראל שלח גבר לקרווהי ובתלת מאה גברא אתקף ומשרית מדינאי שריא לקבליה משפולי מישרא:

So the people took food in their hand, and their trumpets; and he sent all the rest of the men of Israel to their own tents, but retained the three hundred men; and the camp of Midian was beneath him in the valley.

והוה בליליא ההוא ואמר ליה יי קום חות במשריתא ארי מסרתינון בידך:
bydk msrthynwn ary bmshrytha khwth qwm yy lyh wamr hhwa blylya whwh
That same night, Yahweh said to him, “Arise, go down into the camp, for I have delivered it into your hand.

ואם דחיל את למיחת חות את ופורה עולמך למשריתא:
lmshrytha ewlmk wpwrh ath khwth lmykhth ath dkhyl wam
But if you are afraid to go down, go with Purah your servant down to the camp.

ותשמע מה ימללון ובתר כן יתקוף ידך ותחות במשריתא ונחת הוא ופורה עולימיה לסטר מזרזיא די במשריתא:
bmshrytha dy mzrzya lsTr ewlymyh wpwrh hwa wnkhth bmshrytha wthkhwth ydk ythqwp kn wbthr ymllwn mh wthshme
You will hear what they say; and afterward your hands will be strengthened to go down into the camp.” Then went he down with Purah his servant to the outermost part of the armed men who were in the camp.

ומדינאי ועמלקאי וכל בני מדינחא רמן במישרא כגובאי לסגי ולגמליהון לית מנין כחלא די על כיף ימא לסגי:
lsgy yma kyp el dy kkhla mnyn lyth wlgmlyhwn lsgy kgwbay bmyshra rmn mdynkha bny wkl wemlqay wmdynay
The Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like locusts for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand which is on the seashore for multitude.

ואתא גדעון והא גברא משתעי לחבריה חלמא ואמר הא חלמא חלמית והא חרר דלחם שעורין מתהפיך במשרית מדינאי ואתא עד משכנא ומחהי ונפל ואפכיה לעילא ונפל משכנא:
mshkna wnpl leyla wapkyh wnpl wmkhhy mshkna ed watha mdynay bmshryth mthhpyk shewryn dlkhm khrr wha khlmyth khlma ha wamr khlma lkhbryh mshthey gbra wha gdewn watha
When Gideon had come, behold, there was a man telling a dream to his fellow. He said, “Behold, I dreamed a dream; and behold, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian, came to the tent, and struck it so that it fell, and turned it upside down, so that the tent lay flat.”

ואתיב חבריה ואמר לית דא אלהן חרבא דגדעון בר יואש אנש ישראל מסר יי בידיה ית מדינאי וית כל משריתא:
mshrytha kl wyth mdynay yth bydyh yy msr yshral ansh ywash br dgdewn khrba alhn da lyth wamr khbryh wathyb
His fellow answered, “This is nothing other than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel. God has delivered Midian into his hand, with all the army.”

והוה כד שמע גדעון ית שועית חלמא וית פשריה ואודי ותב למשריתא דישראל ואמר קומו ארי מסר יי בידיכון ית משרית מדינאי:
mdynay mshryth yth bydykwn yy msr ary qwmw wamr dyshral lmshrytha wthb wawdy pshryh wyth khlma shweyth yth gdewn shme kd whwh
It was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, that he worshiped. Then he returned into the camp of Israel and said, “Arise, for Yahweh has delivered the army of Midian into your hand!”

ופלג ית תלת מאה גברא לתלת משרין ויהב שופריא ביד כולהון וכדין ריקנין ובעוריא בגו כדין:
kdyn bgw wbewrya ryqnyn wkdyn kwlhwn byd shwprya wyhb mshryn lthlth gbra mah thlth yth wplg
He divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put into the hands of all of them trumpets and empty pitchers, with torches within the pitchers.

ואמר להון מני תחזון וכן תעבדון והא אנא אתי בסיפי משריתא ויהי כמא דאעביד כן תעבדון:
thebdwn kn daebyd kma wyhy mshrytha bsypy athy ana wha thebdwn wkn thkhzwn mny lhwn wamr
He said to them, “Watch me, and do likewise. Behold, when I come to the outermost part of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so you shall do.

ואתקע בשופרא אנא וכל דעמי ותתקעון בשופריא אף אתון סחרנות כל משריתא ותימרון חרבא דמקטלא מן קדם יי ונצחנא על ידי גדעון:
gdewn ydy el wntskhna yy qdm mn dmqTla khrba wthymrwn mshrytha kl skhrnwth athwn ap bshwprya wththqewn demy wkl ana bshwpra wathqe
When I blow the trumpet, I and all who are with me, then blow the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and shout, ‘For Yahweh and for Gideon!’”

ואתא גדעון ומאה גברא דעמיה בסיפי משריתא בריש מטרתא מציעתא ברם אקמא אקימו ית נטריא ותקעו בשופריא ונפצו כדין דבידיהון:
dbydyhwn kdyn wnptsw bshwprya wthqew nTrya yth aqymw aqma brm mtsyetha mTrtha brysh mshrytha bsypy demyh gbra wmah gdewn watha
So Gideon and the hundred men who were with him came to the outermost part of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch, when they had but newly set the watch. Then they blew the trumpets and broke in pieces the pitchers that were in their hands.

ותקעו תלת משרין בשופריא ותברו כדיא ואתקיפו ביד סמלהון בבעוריא וביד ימינהון בשופריא למתקע ואמרו חרבא מן קדם יי ונצחנא על ידי גדעון:
gdewn ydy el wntskhna yy qdm mn khrba wamrw lmthqe bshwprya ymynhwn wbyd bbewrya smlhwn byd wathqypw kdya wthbrw bshwprya mshryn thlth wthqew
The three companies blew the trumpets, broke the pitchers, and held the torches in their left hands and the trumpets in their right hands with which to blow; and they shouted, “The sword of Yahweh and of Gideon!”

וקמו גבר באתריה סחור סחור למשריתא ורהטת כל משריתא ויביבו ואפכו:
wapkw wybybw mshrytha kl wrhTth lmshrytha skhwr skhwr bathryh gbr wqmw
They each stood in his place around the camp, and all the army ran; and they shouted, and put them to flight.

ותקעו תלת מאה שופריא ושוי יי ית חרב גבר בחבריה ובכל משריתא ואפכת משריתא עד בית שיטה לצרירת עד כיף מישר אבל מחולה לטבת:
lTbth mkhwlh abl myshr kyp ed ltsryrth shyTh byth ed mshrytha wapkth mshrytha wbkl bkhbryh gbr khrb yth yy wshwy shwprya mah thlth wthqew
They blew the three hundred trumpets, and Yahweh set every man’s sword against his fellow and against all the army; and the army fled as far as Beth Shittah toward Zererah, as far as the border of Abel Meholah, by Tabbath.

ואתכניש אנש ישראל מנפתלי ומן שבטא דאשר ומן כל שבטא דמנשה ורדפו בתר מדינאי:
mdynay bthr wrdpw dmnshh shbTa kl wmn dashr shbTa wmn mnpthly yshral ansh wathknysh
The men of Israel were gathered together out of Naphtali, out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued Midian.

ואזגדין שלח גדעון בכל טורא דבית אפרים למימר חותו לקדמות מדינאי ואחדו עליהון ית מגיזתא עד בית ברה וית ירדנא ואתכניש כל אנש אפרים ואחדו ית מגיזתא עד בית ברה וית ירדנא:
yrdna wyth brh byth ed mgyztha yth wakhdw aprym ansh kl wathknysh yrdna wyth brh byth ed mgyztha yth elyhwn wakhdw mdynay lqdmwth khwthw lmymr aprym dbyth Twra bkl gdewn shlkh wazgdyn
Gideon sent messengers throughout all the hill country of Ephraim, saying, “Come down against Midian and take the waters before them as far as Beth Barah, even the Jordan!” So all the men of Ephraim were gathered together and took the waters as far as Beth Barah, even the Jordan.

ואחדו תרין רברבי מדין ית עורב וית זאב וקטלו ית עורב בשקיף עורב וית זאב קטלו במישר זאב ורדפו בתר מדינאי וריש עורב וזאב איתיאו לות גדעון מעברא לירדנא:
lyrdna mebra gdewn lwth aythyaw wzab ewrb wrysh mdynay bthr wrdpw zab bmyshr qTlw zab wyth ewrb bshqyp ewrb yth wqTlw zab wyth ewrb yth mdyn rbrby thryn wakhdw
They took the two princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb. They killed Oreb at Oreb’s rock, and Zeeb they killed at Zeeb’s wine press, as they pursued Midian. Then they brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon beyond the Jordan.
