ܘܥܒܕܘ ܒܢܝ̈ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܒܝܫ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܫܠܡ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܡܕܝܢ̈ܝܐ ܫܒܥ ܫ̈ܢܝܢ
shnyn shbe dmdyny' b'yd' mry' 'nwn w'shlm mry' qdm dbysh 'ysryl bny webdw
The children of Israel did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, so Yahweh delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.

ܘܥܫܢܬ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܡܕܝܢ̈ܝܐ ܥܠ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܥܪܩܘ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܕܝܢ̈ܝܐ ܘܥܒܕܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܒ̈ܬܐ ܒܛܘܪ̈ܐ ܘܡܥܪ̈ܐ ܘܛܝܪ̈ܐ
wTyr' wmer' bTwr' bth' 'ysryl bny lhwn webdw mdyny' qdm mn werqw 'ysryl el dmdyny' 'yd' weshnth
The hand of Midian prevailed against Israel; and because of Midian the children of Israel made themselves the dens which are in the mountains, the caves, and the strongholds.

ܘܡܐ ܕܙܪܥ ܗܘܐ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܣܠܩܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܡܕܝܢ̈ܝܐ ܘܥܡܠܝ̈ܩܝܐ ܘܒܢ̈ܝ ܪܩܡ
rqm wbny wemlyqy' mdyny' hww slqyn 'ysryl hw' dzre wm'
So it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites, the Amalekites, and the children of the east came up against them.

ܘܫܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܘܡܚܒܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܟܠܗ̇ ܐܪܥܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܡܥܠܢܐ ܕܥܐܙܐ ܘܠܐ ܫܒܩܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܢܚܘܢ ܬܘܪ̈ܐ ܘܐܡܪ̈ܐ ܘܚܡܪ̈ܐ
wkhmr' w'mr' thwr' dnkhwn l'ysryl hww shbqyn wl' de'z' lmeln' edm' 're' klh hww wmkhblyn elyhwn hww wshryn
They encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, until you come to Gaza. They left no sustenance in Israel, and no sheep, ox, or donkey.

ܡܛܠ ܕܗܢܘܢ ܘܒܥܝܪܗܘܢ ܘܡܫ̈ܟܢܝܗܘܢ ܐܬܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܐܝܟ ܩܡܨܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܘܠܗܘܢ ܘܠܓܡ̈ܠܝܗܘܢ ܠܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܡܢܝܢ ܘܥܠܘ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܠܡܚܒܠܘܬܗ̇
lmkhblwthh l're' welw mnyn hw' lyth wlgmlyhwn wlhwn sgy'' qmts' 'yk hww 'thyn wmshknyhwn wbeyrhwn dhnwn mTl
For they came up with their livestock and their tents. They came in as locusts for multitude. Both they and their camels were without number; and they came into the land to destroy it.

ܘܐܬܬܙܝܥ ܛܒ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܕܝܢ̈ܝܐ
mdyny' qdm mn 'ysryl Tb w'ththzye
Israel was brought very low because of Midian; and the children of Israel cried to Yahweh.

ܘܙܥܩܘ ܒܢܝ̈ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܨܒܘܬܐ ܕܡܕܝܢ

When the children of Israel cried to Yahweh because of Midian,

ܘܫܕܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܓܒܪܐ ܢܒܝܐ ܠܘܬ ܒ̈ܢܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܢܐ ܐܣܩܬܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܪܥܐ ܕܡܨܪܝܢ ܘܐܦܩܬܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܥܒܕܘܬܐ
ebdwth' byth mn w'pqthkwn dmtsryn 're' mn 'sqthkwn 'n' d'ysryl 'lh' mry' 'mr hkn' lhwn w'mr 'ysryl bny lwth nby' lgbr' mry' wshdr
Yahweh sent a prophet to the children of Israel; and he said to them, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you out of the house of bondage.

ܘܦܨܝܬܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܡܨܪ̈ܝܐ ܘܡܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܟܠܗܘܢ ܐ̈ܠܘܨܝܟܘܢ ܘܐܘܒܕܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܝܟܘܢ ܘܝܗܒܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܐܪܥܗܘܢ
'rehwn lkwn wyhbth qdmykwn mn 'nwn w'wbdth 'lwtsykwn dklhwn 'yd' wmn dmtsry' 'yd' mn wptsythkwn
I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of all who oppressed you, and drove them out from before you, and gave you their land.

ܘܐܡܪܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟܘܢ ܠܐ ܬܕܚܠܘܢ ܠܐ̈ܠܗܐ ܕܐܡܘܪ̈ܝܐ ܕܝܬܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܐܪܥܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܫܡܥܬܘܢ ܒܩܠܝ
bqly shmethwn wl' b'rehwn 'nthwn dythbyn d'mwry' l'lh' thdkhlwn l' 'lhkwn mry' 'n' d'n' lkwn w'mrth
I said to you, “I am Yahweh your God. You shall not fear the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell.” But you have not listened to my voice.’”

ܘܐܬܐ ܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܝܬܒ ܬܚܝܬ ܒܛܡܬܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܒܥܘܦܪܐ ܩܪܝܬܗ ܕܝܘܐܫ ܐܒܘܗܝ ܕܥܙܪܝ ܘܓܕܥܘܢ ܒܪܗ ܚܒܛ ܗܘܐ ܚ̈ܛܐ ܒܓܬ ܕܢܥܪܘܩ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܕܝܢ̈ܝܐ
mdyny' qdm mn dnerwq bgth khT' hw' khbT brh wgdewn dezry 'bwhy dyw'sh qrythh bewpr' d'yth bTmth' thkhyth w'ythb dmry' ml'kh w'th'
Yahweh’s angel came and sat under the oak which was in Ophrah, that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite. His son Gideon was beating out wheat in the wine press, to hide it from the Midianites.

ܘܐܬܚܙܝ ܠܗ ܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܪܝܐ ܓܢܒܪ ܚܝܠܐ ܥܡܟ

Yahweh’s angel appeared to him, and said to him, “Yahweh is with you, you mighty man of valor!”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܓܕܥܘܢ ܒܥܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܢܟ ܡܪܝ ܐܢ ܐܝܬ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܡܢ ܠܡܢܐ ܓܕܫ ܠܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܟܘܠܗܝܢ ܘܐܝܟܐ ܐܢܝ̈ܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܬܕܡܪ̈ܬܗ ܕܐܫܬܥܝܘ ܠܢ ܐ̈ܒܗܝܢ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܢ ܕܡܢ ܡܨܪܝܢ ܐܦܩܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܗܫܐ ܫܒܩܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܫܠܡܢ ܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܡܕܝܢ̈ܝܐ

Gideon said to him, “Oh, my lord, if Yahweh is with us, why then has all this happened to us? Where are all his wondrous works which our fathers told us of, saying, ‘Didn’t Yahweh bring us up from Egypt?’ But now Yahweh has cast us off, and delivered us into the hand of Midian.”

ܘܐܬܦܢܝ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܙܠ ܒܚܝܠܟ ܗܢܐ ܘܐܢܬ ܬܦܪܘܩ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܡܕܝܢ̈ܝܐ ܗܐ ܫܕܪܬܟ

Yahweh looked at him, and said, “Go in this your might, and save Israel from the hand of Midian. Haven’t I sent you?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܒܥܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܢܟ ܡܪܝ ܒܡܢܐ ܐܦܪܩܝܘܗܝ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܗܐ ܫܪܒܬܝ ܒܨܝܪܐ ܗܝ ܒܡܢܫܐ ܘܐܢܐ ܙܥܘܪܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܒܝܬ ܐܒܝ
'by dbyth 'n' zewr' w'n' bmnsh' hy btsyr' shrbthy dh' l'ysryl 'prqywhy bmn' mry mnk 'n' be' lh 'mr
He said to him, “O Lord, how shall I save Israel? Behold, my family is the poorest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܢܐ ܐܗܘܐ ܥܡܟ ܘܬܚܪܘܒ ܠܡܕܝܢ̈ܝܐ ܐܝܟ ܓܒܪܐ ܚܕ
khd gbr' 'yk lmdyny' wthkhrwb emk 'hw' 'n' mry' lh w'mr
Yahweh said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܢ ܐܫܟܚܬ ܪ̈ܚܡܐ ܒܥܝܢ̈ܝܟ ܥܒܕ ܠܝ ܐܬܐ ܘܐܕܥ ܕܐܢܬ ܡܡܠܠ ܥܡܝ

He said to him, “If now I have found favor in your sight, then show me a sign that it is you who talk with me.

ܠܐ ܬܦܪܘܩ ܡܟܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܐܬܐ ܠܘܬܟ ܘܐܦܩ ܫܪܘܬܝ ܐܣܝܡ ܩܕܡܝܟ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܐܬܒ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܬܐܬܐ
dth'th' edm' 'thb 'n' w'mr qdmyk 'sym shrwthy w'pq lwthk d'th' edm' mk' thprwq l'
Please don’t go away until I come to you, and bring out my present, and lay it before you.” He said, “I will wait until you come back.”

ܘܓܕܥܘܢ ܥܠ ܥܒܕ ܓܕܝܐ ܕܥܙ̈ܐ ܘܣܐܬܐ ܕܩܡܚܐ ܦܛܝܪܐ ܘܒܣܪܐ ܣܡ ܒܣܠܐ ܘܡܨܠܠܐ ܐܪܡܝ ܒܩܣܛܐ ܘܐܦܩ ܠܗ ܬܚܝܬ ܒܛܡܬܐ ܘܩܪܒ ܠܗ

Gideon went in and prepared a young goat and unleavened cakes of an ephah of meal. He put the meat in a basket and he put the broth in a pot, and brought it out to him under the oak, and presented it.

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܣܒ ܒܣܪܐ ܘܦܛܝܪܐ ܣܝܡ ܥܠ ܟܐܦܐ ܘܡܨܠܠܐ ܐܫܘܕ ܥܠܝܗ ܘܥܒܕ ܗܟܢܐ

The angel of God said to him, “Take the meat and the unleavened cakes, and lay them on this rock, and pour out the broth.” He did so.

ܘܐܘܫܛ ܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܒܪܝܫ ܚܘܛܪܐ ܕܒܐܝܕܗ ܘܩܪܒ ܠܒܣܪܐ ܘܠܦܛܝܪܐ ܘܣܠܩܬ ܢܘܪܐ ܡܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܘܐܟܠܬ ܒܣܪܐ ܘܦܛܝܪܐ ܘܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܬܓܠܙ ܡܢ ܨܐ̈ܕܘܗܝ
ts'dwhy mn 'thglz dmry' wml'kh wpTyr' bsr' w'klth k'p' mn nwr' wslqth wlpTyr' lbsr' wqrb db'ydh khwTr' brysh dmry' ml'kh w'wshT
Then Yahweh’s angel stretched out the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the meat and the unleavened cakes; and fire went up out of the rock and consumed the meat and the unleavened cakes. Then Yahweh’s angel departed out of his sight.

ܘܚܙܐ ܓܕܥܘܢ ܕܡܠܐܟܗ ܗܘ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܓܕܥܘܢ ܐܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܚܙܝܬ ܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐ̈ܦܝܢ ܒܐ̈ܦܝܢ
b'pyn 'pyn dmry' ml'kh dkhzyth 'lh' mry' 'wn gdewn w'mr dmry' hw dml'kh gdewn wkhz'
Gideon saw that he was Yahweh’s angel; and Gideon said, “Alas, Lord Yahweh! Because I have seen Yahweh’s angel face to face!”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܪܝܐ ܫܠܡ ܠܟ ܠܐ ܬܕܚܠ ܠܐ ܡܐܬ ܐܢܬ

Yahweh said to him, “Peace be to you! Don’t be afraid. You shall not die.”

ܘܒܢܐ ܬܡܢ ܓܕܥܘܢ ܡܕܒܚܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܩܪܝܗܝ ܡܪܝܐ ܫܠܡܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܢܐ ܘܥܕܟܝܠ ܒܥܘܦܪܐ ܗܘܐ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܕܐܒܘܗܝ ܕܥܙܪܝ
dezry d'bwhy qryth' hw' bewpr' wedkyl lywmn' edm' shlm' mry' wqryhy lmry' mdbkh' gdewn thmn wbn'
Then Gideon built an altar there to Yahweh, and called it “Yahweh is Peace.” To this day it is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

ܘܗܘܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܗܘ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܪܝܐ ܣܒ ܬܘܪܐ ܕܐܒܘܟ ܘܬܘܪܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܒܪ ܫܒܥ ܫ̈ܢܝܢ ܘܣܚܘܦ ܡܕܒܚܗ ܕܒܥܠܐ ܦܬܟܪܗ ܕܐܒܘܟ ܘܐܣܬܪܐ ܕܩܝܡܐ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܦܣܩ

That same night, Yahweh said to him, “Take your father’s bull, even the second bull seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the Asherah that is by it.

ܘܒܢܝ ܡܕܒܚܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟ ܥܠ ܪܝܫ ܬܘܩܦܐ ܗܢܐ ܒܣܕܪܐ ܘܣܒ ܬܘܪܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܘܐܣܩ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܥܠܬܐ ܘܩܝܣ̈ܐ ܒܩܝܣ̈ܐ ܕܐܣܬܪܐ ܕܡܦܣܩ ܐܢܬ
'nth dmpsq d'sthr' bqys' wqys' elth' elwhy w'sq 'khrn' thwr' wsb bsdr' hn' thwqp' rysh el 'lhk lmry' mdbkh' wbny
Then build an altar to Yahweh your God on the top of this stronghold, in an orderly way, and take the second bull, and offer a burnt offering with the wood of the Asherah which you shall cut down.”

ܘܕܒܪ ܓܕܥܘܢ ܥܣܪܐ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܡܢ ܥܒ̈ܕܘܗܝ ܘܥܒܕ ܐܝܟ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܡܛܠ ܕܕܚܠ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܐܒܘܗܝ ܘܡܢ ܐܢܫ̈ܝ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܕܢܥܒܕ ܒܐܝܡܡܐ ܥܒܕ ܒܠܠܝܐ

Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as Yahweh had spoken to him. Because he feared his father’s household and the men of the city, he could not do it by day, but he did it by night.

ܘܩܕܡܘ ܐܢܫ̈ܝ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܒܨܦܪܐ ܘܚܙܝܢ ܕܥܩܝܪ ܡܕܒܚܗ ܕܒܥܠܐ ܘܐܣܬܪܐ ܕܥܠܘܗܝ ܡܦܣܩܐ ܘܬܘܪܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܡܣܩ ܥܠ ܡܕܒܚܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܕܒܢܐ
dbn' 'khrn' mdbkh' el msq 'khrn' wthwr' mpsq' delwhy w'sthr' dbel' mdbkhh deqyr wkhzyn btspr' qryth' 'nshy wqdmw
When the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was broken down, and the Asherah was cut down that was by it, and the second bull was offered on the altar that was built.

ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܓܒܪ ܠܚܒܪܗ ܡܢܘ ܥܒܕ ܥܒܝܕܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܘܫܐܠܘ ܘܥܩܒܘ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܓܕܥܘܢ ܒܪ ܝܘܐܫ ܥܒܕ ܥܒܝܕܬܐ ܗܕܐ
hd' ebydth' ebd yw'sh br gdewn w'mryn weqbw wsh'lw hd' ebydth' ebd mnw lkhbrh gbr w'mryn
They said to one another, “Who has done this thing?” When they inquired and asked, they said, “Gideon the son of Joash has done this thing.”

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܐܢܫ̈ܝ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܠܝܘܐܫ ܐܦܩ ܒܪܟ ܢܡܘܬ ܕܥܩܪ ܡܕܒܚܗ ܕܒܥܠܐ ܘܦܣܩ ܐܣܬܪܐ ܕܥܠܘܗܝ

Then the men of the city said to Joash, “Bring out your son, that he may die, because he has broken down the altar of Baal, and because he has cut down the Asherah that was by it.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܝܘܐܫ ܠܟܘܠ ܕܩܡܘ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܝܢܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܠ ܐ̈ܦܝ ܒܥܠܐ ܐܘ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܦܨܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܗ ܡܢܘ ܕܕܐܢ ܥܠ ܐ̈ܦܘܗܝ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܨܦܪܐ ܢܡܘܬ ܐܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܗܘ ܢܕܘܢ ܥܠ ܐ̈ܦܝ ܢܦܫܗ ܥܠ ܕܥܩܪ ܡܕܒܚܗ

Joash said to all who stood against him, “Will you contend for Baal? Or will you save him? He who will contend for him, let him be put to death by morning! If he is a god, let him contend for himself, because someone has broken down his altar!”

ܘܩܪܝܗܝ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܗܘ ܢܕܘܒܥܝܠ ܘܐܡܪ ܢܕܘܢܝܘܗܝ ܒܥܠܐ ܥܠ ܕܥܩܪ ܡܕܒܚܗ
mdbkhh deqr el bel' ndwnywhy w'mr ndwbeyl hw bywm' wqryhy
Therefore on that day he named him Jerub-Baal, saying, “Let Baal contend against him, because he has broken down his altar.”

ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܡܕܝܢܝ̈ܐ ܘܥܡܠܩ̈ܝܐ ܘܒܢ̈ܝ ܪܩܡ ܐܬܟܢܫܘ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܘܥܒܪܘ ܘܫܪܘ ܒܥܘܡܩܐ ܕܐܝܙܪܥܝܠ

Then all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the children of the east assembled themselves together; and they passed over, and encamped in the valley of Jezreel.

ܘܪܘܚܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܒܫܬ ܠܓܕܥܘܢ ܘܩܥܐ ܒܫܝܦܘܪܐ ܘܩܪܐ ܐܝܙܪܥܝܠ ܒܬܪܗ
bthrh 'yzreyl wqr' bshypwr' wqe' lgdewn lbshth dmry' wrwkhh
But Yahweh’s Spirit came on Gideon, and he blew a trumpet; and Abiezer was gathered together to follow him.

ܘܐܝܙ̈ܓܕܘܗܝ ܫܕܪ ܒܟܠܗ ܡܢܫܐ ܘܩܥܘ ܐܦ ܗܢܘܢ ܒܬܪܗ ܘܐܝܙ̈ܓܕܘܗܝ ܫܕܪ ܐܦ ܥܠ ܐܫܝܪ ܘܥܠ ܙܒܘܠܘܢ ܘܥܠ ܢܦܬܠܝ ܘܣܠܩܘ ܠܐܘܪܥܗܘܢ
l'wrehwn wslqw npthly wel zbwlwn wel 'shyr el 'p shdr w'yzgdwhy bthrh hnwn 'p wqew mnsh' bklh shdr w'yzgdwhy
He sent messengers throughout all Manasseh, and they also were gathered together to follow him. He sent messengers to Asher, to Zebulun, and to Naphtali; and they came up to meet them.

ܘܐܡܪ ܓܕܥܘܢ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܐܢܗܘ ܕܦܪܩ ܐܢܬ ܒܐ̈ܝܕܝ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܡܪܬ

Gideon said to God, “If you will save Israel by my hand, as you have spoken,

ܗܐ ܣܐܡ ܐܢܐ ܓܙܬܐ ܕܥܡܪܐ ܒܐܕܪܐ ܐܢ ܢܗܘܐ ܛܠܐ ܥܠ ܓܙܬܐ ܒܠܚܘܕܝܗ ܘܥܠ ܟܘܠܗ̇ ܐܪܥܐ ܝܒܫܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܕܦܪܩ ܐܢܬ ܒܐ̈ܝܕܝ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܡܪܬ
d'mrth 'ykn' l'ysryl b'ydy 'nth dprq 'n' yde ybsh' 're' kwlh wel blkhwdyh gzth' el Tl' nhw' 'n b'dr' demr' gzth' 'n' s'm h'
behold, I will put a fleece of wool on the threshing floor. If there is dew on the fleece only, and it is dry on all the ground, then I’ll know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you have spoken.”

ܘܗܘܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܘܩܕܡ ܒܬܪ ܝܘܡܐ ܘܥܨܪܗ̇ ܠܓܙܬܐ ܘܐܡܨܝ ܛܠܐ ܡܢ ܓܙܬܐ ܡܠܐ ܠܩܢܐ ܡ̈ܝܐ
my' lqn' ml' gzth' mn Tl' w'mtsy lgzth' wetsrh ywm' bthr wqdm hkn' whw'
It was so; for he rose up early on the next day, and pressed the fleece together, and wrung the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water.

ܘܐܡܪ ܓܕܥܘܢ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܠܐ ܢܬܚܡܬ ܪܘܓܙܟ ܥܠܝ ܘܐܡܠܠ ܗܕܐ ܙܒܢܬܐ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܐܢܣܐ ܬܘܒ ܙܒܢܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܒܓܙܬܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܝܒܫܐ ܥܠ ܓܙܬܐ ܒܠܚܘܕܝܗ ܘܥܠ ܟܠܗ̇ ܐܪܥܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܛܠܐ
Tl' nhw' 're' klh wel blkhwdyh gzth' el ybsh' nhw' bgzth' hd' zbnth' thwb 'ns' blkhwd zbnth' hd' w'mll ely rwgzk nthkhmth l' l'lh' gdewn w'mr
Gideon said to God, “Don’t let your anger be kindled against me, and I will speak but this once. Please let me make a trial just this once with the fleece. Let it now be dry only on the fleece, and on all the ground let there be dew.”
