ܘܗܠܝܢ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܕܫܒܩ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܢܣܝܘ ܒܗܘܢ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܟܠ ܕܠܐ ܐܝܕܥܘ ܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܩܪ̈ܒܐ ܕܟܢ̈ܥܢܝܐ
dkneny' qrb' lklhwn 'ydew dl' kl l'ysryl bhwn lmnsyw mry' dshbq emm' whlyn
Now these are the nations which Yahweh left, to test Israel by them, even as many as had not known all the wars of Canaan;

ܒܠܚܘܕ ܡܛܠ ܕܢܕܥܘܢ ܕܪ̈ܐ ܕܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܢܐܠܦܘܢ ܩܪܒܐ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܩܕܡ̈ܝܐ ܠܐ ܐܝܕܥܘ
'ydew l' qdmy' blkhwd qrb' dn'lpwn 'ysryl dbny dr' dndewn mTl blkhwd
only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at least those who knew nothing of it before:

ܚܡ̈ܫܐ ܛܪ̈ܘܢܐ ܕܦ̈ܠܫܬܝܐ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܟܢ̈ܥܢܝܐ ܘܨ̈ܝܕܢܝܐ ܘܚ̈ܘܝܐ ܝܬ̈ܒܝ ܛܘܪܐ ܕܠܒܢܢ ܘܡܢ ܛܘܪܐ ܕܒܢ̈ܝ ܚܪܡܘܢ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܡܥܠܢܐ ܕܚܡܬ
dkhmth lmeln' wedm' khrmwn dbny Twr' wmn dlbnn Twr' ythby wkhwy' wtsydny' kneny' wklhwn dplshthy' Trwn' khmsh'
the five lords of the Philistines, all the Canaanites, the Sidonians, and the Hivites who lived on Mount Lebanon, from Mount Baal Hermon to the entrance of Hamath.

ܗܘܘ ܠܡܢܣܝܘ ܒܗܘܢ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܢܕܥ ܐܢ ܫܡܥܝܢ ܦܘܩ̈ܕܢܘܗܝ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܕܦܩܕ ܠܐ̈ܒܗܝܗܘܢ ܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܡܘܫܐ
dmwsh' b'yd' l'bhyhwn dpqd dmry' pwqdnwhy shmeyn 'n dnde l'ysryl bhwn lmnsyw hww
They were left to test Israel by them, to know whether they would listen to Yahweh’s commandments, which he commanded their fathers by Moses.

ܘܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܝܬܒܘ ܒܝܢܬ ܟܢܥ̈ܢܝܐ ܘܚ̈ܘܝܐ ܘܐܡܘܪ̈ܝܐ ܘܦܪ̈ܙܝܐ ܘܚ̈ܬܝܐ ܘܝܒܘܣ̈ܝܐ
wybwsy' wkhthy' wprzy' w'mwry' wkhwy' kneny' bynth 'ythbw 'ysryl wbny
The children of Israel lived among the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

ܘܢܣܒܘ ܡܢ ܒܢ̈ܬܗܘܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܢܫ̈ܐ ܘܒܢ̈ܬܗܘܢ ܝܗܒܘ ܠܒ̈ܢܝܗܘܢ
lbnyhwn yhbw wbnthhwn nsh' lhwn bnthhwn mn wnsbw
They took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their own daughters to their sons and served their gods.

ܘܦܠܚܘ ܠܐ̈ܠܗܝܗܘܢ ܘܥܒܕܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܒܝܫ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܛܥܘ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܗܘܢ ܘܦܠܚܘ ܠܒܥܠܐ ܘܠܐܣܬܪ̈ܬܐ
wl'sthrth' lbel' wplkhw 'lhhwn lmry' wTew mry' qdm dbysh 'ysryl bny webdw l'lhyhwn wplkhw
The children of Israel did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and forgot Yahweh their God, and served the Baals and the Asheroth.

ܘܐܬܚܡܬ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܫܠܡ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܟܘܫܢ ܥܘܠܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܪܡ ܢܗܪ̈ܝܢ ܘܦܠܚܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܟܘܫܢ ܥܘܠܐ ܬܡܢܐ ܫ̈ܢܝܢ
shnyn thmn' ewl' lkwshn 'ysryl bny wplkhw nhryn d'rm mlk' ewl' dkwshn b'yd' 'nwn w'shlm 'ysryl el mry' w'thkhmth
Therefore Yahweh’s anger burned against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Cushan Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia; and the children of Israel served Cushan Rishathaim eight years.

ܘܩܪܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܩܝܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܦܪܘܩܐ ܠܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܦܪܩ ܐܢܘܢ ܥܬܢܐܝܠ ܒܪ ܩܢܙ ܐܚܘܗܝ ܕܟܠܒ ܕܙܥܘܪ ܡܢܗ
mnh dzewr dklb 'khwhy qnz br ethn'yl 'nwn wprq 'ysryl lbny prwq' mry' w'qym lmry' 'ysryl bny wqrw
When the children of Israel cried to Yahweh, Yahweh raised up a savior to the children of Israel, who saved them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother.

ܘܗܘܬ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܐܝܕܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܕܢ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܢܦܩ ܠܩܪܒܐ ܘܐܫܠܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܒܐ̈ܝܕܘܗܝ ܠܟܘܫܢ ܥܘܠܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܪܡ ܢܗܪ̈ܝܢ ܘܥܫܢܬ ܐܝܕܗ ܥܠ ܟܘܫܢ ܥܘܠܐ
ewl' kwshn el 'ydh weshnth nhryn d'rm mlk' ewl' lkwshn b'ydwhy mry' w'shlm lqrb' wnpq l'ysryl wdn dmry' 'ydh elwhy whwth
Yahweh’s Spirit came on him, and he judged Israel; and he went out to war, and Yahweh delivered Cushan Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand. His hand prevailed against Cushan Rishathaim.

ܘܐܬܬܢܝܚܬ ܐܪܥܐ ܐܪ̈ܒܥܝܢ ܫ̈ܢܝܢ ܘܡܝܬ ܥܬܢܐܝܠ ܒܪ ܩܢܙ
qnz br ethn'yl wmyth shnyn 'rbeyn 're' w'ththnykhth
The land had rest forty years, then Othniel the son of Kenaz died.

ܘܐܘܣܦܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܡܥܒܕ ܕܒܝܫ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܚܝܠ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܥܓܠܘܢ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܡܘܐܒ ܥܠ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܥܠ ܕܥܒܕܘ ܕܒܝܫ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' qdm dbysh debdw el 'ysryl el dmw'b mlk' leglwn mry' wkhyl mry' qdm dbysh lmebd 'ysryl bny w'wspw
The children of Israel again did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and Yahweh strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight.

ܘܟܢܫ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܠܒܢ̈ܝ ܥܡܘܢ ܘܠܥܡܠܝܩ ܘܐܙܠܘ ܘܡܚܘ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܝܪܬܘ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܕܕܩ̈ܠܐ
ddql' qryth' wyrthw l'ysryl wmkhw w'zlw wlemlyq emwn lbny elyhwn wknsh
He gathered the children of Ammon and Amalek to himself; and he went and struck Israel, and they possessed the city of palm trees.

ܘܦܠܚܘ ܒܢܝ̈ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܥܓܠܘܢ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܡܘܐܒ ܬܡܢܥܣܪܐ ܫ̈ܢܝܢ
shnyn thmnesr' dmw'b mlk' leglwn 'ysryl bny wplkhw
The children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.

ܘܩܪܘ ܒ̈ܢܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܩܝܡ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܦܪܘܩܐ ܠܐܗܘܪ ܒܪ ܓܐܪܐ ܡܢ ܫܒܛܐ ܕܒܢܝܡܝܢ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܦܫܝܓܐ ܗܘܬ ܐܝܕܗ ܕܝܡܝܢܐ ܘܫܕܪܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܩܘܪܒܢܐ ܒܐܝܕܗ ܠܥܓܠܘܢ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܡܘܐܒ
dmw'b mlk' leglwn b'ydh qwrbn' 'ysryl bny wshdrw dymyn' 'ydh hwth dpshyg' gbr' dbnymyn shbT' mn g'r' br l'hwr prwq' mry' lhwn w'qym lmry' 'ysryl bny wqrw
But when the children of Israel cried to Yahweh, Yahweh raised up a savior for them: Ehud the son of Gera, the Benjamite, a left-handed man. The children of Israel sent tribute by him to Eglon the king of Moab.

ܘܥܒܕ ܠܗ ܐܗܘܪ ܣܝܦܐ ܕܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܦܘܡ̈ܘܗܝ ܩܦܣ ܐܘܪܟܗ ܘܐܣܪܗ ܠܓܘ ܡܢ ܠܒܘܫܗ ܥܠ ܥܛܡܗ ܕܝܡܝܢܐ
dymyn' eTmh el lbwshh mn lgw w'srh 'wrkh qps pwmwhy dthryn syp' 'hwr lh webd
Ehud made himself a sword which had two edges, a cubit in length; and he wore it under his clothing on his right thigh.

ܘܩܪܒ ܩܘܪܒܢܐ ܠܥܓܠܘܢ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܡܘܐܒ ܘܥܓܠܘܢ ܡܠܟܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܒܪܝܪ ܛܒ
Tb dbryr hw' gbr' mlk' weglwn dmw'b mlk' leglwn qwrbn' wqrb
He offered the tribute to Eglon king of Moab. Now Eglon was a very fat man.

ܘܟܕ ܓܡܪ ܠܡܩܪܒܘ ܩܘܪܒܢܐ ܫܪܐ ܠܥܡܐ ܫܩܝ̈ܠܝ ܩܘܪܒܢܐ

When Ehud had finished offering the tribute, he sent away the people who carried the tribute.

ܘܗܘ ܗܦܟ ܡܢ ܦܣܝܠܝܢ ܕܥܠ ܓܢܒ ܓܠܓܠܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܣܬܪܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܝ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܟ ܡܠܟܐ ܒܝܢܝ ܘܠܟ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܠܟܐ ܥܒܪܘ ܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܘܦܪܩܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܕܩܝܡܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܘܬܗ

But he himself turned back from the stone idols that were by Gilgal, and said, “I have a secret message for you, O king.” The king said, “Keep silence!” All who stood by him left him.

ܘܐܗܘܪ ܥܠ ܠܘܬܗ ܘܗܘ ܝܬܒ ܗܘܐ ܒܥܠܝܬܐ ܒܠܚܘܕܘܗܝ ܕܡܬܩܢܐ ܗܘܬ ܠܗ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܗܘܪ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܝ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܟ ܘܩܡ ܥܓܠܘܢ ܡܢ ܟܘܪܣܝܗ
kwrsyh mn eglwn wqm lk d'mr ly 'yth d'lh' mlth' 'hwr lh w'mr lh hwth dmthqn' blkhwdwhy belyth' hw' ythb whw lwthh el w'hwr
Ehud came to him; and he was sitting by himself alone in the cool upper room. Ehud said, “I have a message from God to you.” He arose out of his seat.

ܘܐܘܫܛ ܐܗܘܪ ܐܝܕܗ ܕܣܡܠܐ ܘܢܣܒ ܣܝܦܐ ܡܢ ܥܛܡܗ ܕܝܡܝܢܐ ܘܡܚܝܗܝ ܒܟܪܣܗ

Ehud put out his left hand, and took the sword from his right thigh, and thrust it into his body.

ܘܐܬܐ ܡܪܩܩܗ ܒܬܪ ܡܚܘܬܗ ܘܣܟܪܗ̇ ܚܠܒܐ ܠܡܚܘܬܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܫܡܛܗ ܣܝܦܐ ܡܢ ܟܪܣܗ ܘܢܦܩ ܡܣܪܗܒܐܝܬ

The handle also went in after the blade; and the fat closed on the blade, for he didn’t draw the sword out of his body; and it came out behind.

ܘܢܦܩ ܐܗܘܪ ܠܟܣܣܛܪܘܢ ܘܐܚܕ ܬܪܥܐ ܕܥܠܝܬܐ ܒܐ̈ܦܘܗܝ ܘܢܦܩ
wnpq b'pwhy delyth' thre' w'khd lkssTrwn 'hwr wnpq
Then Ehud went out onto the porch, and shut the doors of the upper room on him, and locked them.

ܘܗܘ ܢܦܩ ܘܥܒ̈ܕܘܗܝ ܥܠܘ ܘܚܙܝܢ ܬܪ̈ܥܐ ܕܥܠܝܬܐ ܛܦܝܢ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܟܒܪ ܠܦܪܘܬܕܩܐ ܢܦܩ ܒܬܘܘܢܐ ܕܥܠܝܬܐ
delyth' bthwwn' npq lprwthdq' kbr w'mryn Tpyn delyth' thre' wkhzyn elw webdwhy npq whw
After he had gone, his servants came and saw that the doors of the upper room were locked. They said, “Surely he is covering his feet in the upper room.”

ܘܟܬܪܘ ܣܓܝ ܘܚܙܝܢ ܠܐ ܦܬܚ ܬܪ̈ܥܐ ܕܥܠܝܬܐ ܘܢܣܒܘ ܐܩ̈ܠܝܕܐ ܘܦܬܚܘ ܘܚܙܝܢ ܡܪܗܘܢ ܪܡܐ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܡܝܬ
wmyth 're' el rm' mrhwn wkhzyn wpthkhw 'qlyd' wnsbw delyth' thre' pthkh l' wkhzyn sgy wkthrw
They waited until they were ashamed; and behold, he didn’t open the doors of the upper room. Therefore they took the key and opened them, and behold, their lord had fallen down dead on the floor.

ܘܥܕ ܗܢܘܢ ܡܬܬܘܗܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܐܗܘܪ ܥܒܪ ܠܦܣܝܠܝܢ ܘܐܬܦܠܛ ܘܪܗܛ ܠܫܝܥܪܬ

Ehud escaped while they waited, passed beyond the stone idols, and escaped to Seirah.

ܘܟܕ ܐܬܐ ܩܪܐ ܒܫܝܦܘܪܐ ܒܛܘܪܐ ܕܐܦܪܝܡ ܘܢܚܬܘ ܥܡܗ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܢ ܛܘܪܐ ܘܗܘ ܩܕܡܝܗܘܢ
qdmyhwn whw Twr' mn 'ysryl bny emh wnkhthw d'prym bTwr' bshypwr' qr' 'th' wkd
When he had come, he blew a trumpet in the hill country of Ephraim; and the children of Israel went down with him from the hill country, and he led them.

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܬܘ ܒܬܪܝ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܫܠܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܒ̈ܥܠܕܒܒܝܟܘܢ ܡܘܐ̈ܒܝܐ ܒܐ̈ܝܕܝܟܘܢ ܘܢܚܬܘ ܒܬܪܗ ܘܐܚܕܘ ܡܥܒܪܬܐ ܕܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܕܡܘܐܒ ܘܠܐ ܫܒܩܘ ܠܐܢܫ ܕܢܥܒܪ
dnebr l'nsh shbqw wl' dmw'b dywrdnn mebrth' w'khdw bthrh wnkhthw b'ydykwn mw'by' beldbbykwn mry' d'shlm mTl bthry thw lhwn w'mr
He said to them, “Follow me; for Yahweh has delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand.” They followed him, and took the fords of the Jordan against the Moabites, and didn’t allow any man to pass over.

ܘܩܛܠܘ ܡܢ ܡܘܐ̈ܒܝܐ ܒܗܘ ܙܒܢܐ ܐܝܟ ܥܣܪܐ ܐ̈ܠܦܝܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܟܠ ܕܥܬܝܪ ܘܟܠ ܓܒܪ ܚܝܠܬܢ ܘܠܐ ܐܬܦܠܛ ܐܢܫ
'nsh 'thplT wl' khylthn gbr wkl dethyr kl gbryn 'lpyn esr' 'yk zbn' bhw mw'by' mn wqTlw
They struck at that time about ten thousand men of Moab, every strong man and every man of valor. No man escaped.

ܘܐܬܬܒܪܘ ܡܘܐ̈ܒܝܐ ܒܗܘ ܙܒܢܐ ܬܚܝܬ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܫܠܝܬ ܐܪܥܐ ܬܡܢܐܝܢ ܫ̈ܢܝܢ
shnyn thmn'yn 're' wshlyth d'ysryl 'yd' thkhyth zbn' bhw mw'by' w'ththbrw
So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. Then the land had rest eighty years.

ܘܒܬܪܗ ܗܘܐ ܫܡܓܪ ܒܪ ܥܢܬ ܘܚܪܒ ܡܢ ܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ ܫܬܡܐܐ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܒܡܣܣܐ ܕܬܘܪ̈ܐ ܘܦܪܩ ܐܦ ܗܘ ܠܐܝܣܪܐܝܠ
l'ysr'yl hw 'p wprq dthwr' bmss' gbryn shthm'' plshthy' mn wkhrb enth br shmgr hw' wbthrh
After him was Shamgar the son of Anath, who struck six hundred men of the Philistines with an ox goad. He also saved Israel.
