1
ואלין עממיא די שבק יי לנסאה בהון ית ישראל ית כל דלא הוו ידעין ית כל קרבי כנען:
knen qrby kl yth ydeyn hww dla kl yth yshral yth bhwn lnsah yy shbq dy emmya walyn
Now these are the nations which Yahweh left, to test Israel by them, even as many as had not known all the wars of Canaan;

לחוד בדיל דידעון דריא דבני ישראל לאלפותהון קרבא לחוד דמלקדמין לא הוו ידעין:
ydeyn hww la dmlqdmyn lkhwd qrba lalpwthhwn yshral dbny drya dydewn bdyl lkhwd
only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at least those who knew nothing of it before:

חמשא טורני פלשתאי וכל כנענאי וצידונאי וחואי יתבי טורא דלבנון מטור מישר חרמון עד מעלנא דחמת:
dkhmth melna ed khrmwn myshr mTwr dlbnwn Twra ythby wkhway wtsydwnay knenay wkl plshthay Twrny khmsha
the five lords of the Philistines, all the Canaanites, the Sidonians, and the Hivites who lived on Mount Lebanon, from Mount Baal Hermon to the entrance of Hamath.

והוו לנסאה בהון ית ישראל למידע היקבלון ית פקודיא דיי דפקד ית אבהתהון בידא דמשה:
dmshh byda abhthhwn yth dpqd dyy pqwdya yth hyqblwn lmyde yshral yth bhwn lnsah whww
They were left to test Israel by them, to know whether they would listen to Yahweh’s commandments, which he commanded their fathers by Moses.

ובני ישראל יתיבו בגו כנענאי חתאי ואמוראי ופריזאי וחואי ויבוסאי:
wybwsay wkhway wpryzay wamwray khthay knenay bgw ythybw yshral wbny
The children of Israel lived among the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

ונסיבו ית בנתיהון להון לנשין וית בנתהון יהיבו לבניהון ופלחו ית טעותהון:
Tewthhwn yth wplkhw lbnyhwn yhybw bnthhwn wyth lnshyn lhwn bnthyhwn yth wnsybw
They took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their own daughters to their sons and served their gods.

ועבדו בני ישראל ית דביש קדם יי ואתנשיאו ית פולחנא דיי אלההון ופלחו ית בעליא ולאשרתא:
wlashrtha belya yth wplkhw alhhwn dyy pwlkhna yth wathnshyaw yy qdm dbysh yth yshral bny webdw
The children of Israel did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and forgot Yahweh their God, and served the Baals and the Asheroth.

ותקיף רוגזא דיי בישראל ומסרינון ביד כושן חיבא מלכא דארם די על פרת ופלחו בני ישראל ית כושן חיבא תמני שנין:
shnyn thmny khyba kwshn yth yshral bny wplkhw prth el dy darm mlka khyba kwshn byd wmsrynwn byshral dyy rwgza wthqyp
Therefore Yahweh’s anger burned against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Cushan Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia; and the children of Israel served Cushan Rishathaim eight years.

וזעיקו בני ישראל קדם יי ואקים יי פריק לבני ישראל ופרקינון ית עתניאל בר קנז אחוהי דכלב דזעיר מניה:
mnyh dzeyr dklb akhwhy qnz br ethnyal yth wprqynwn yshral lbny pryq yy waqym yy qdm yshral bny wzeyqw
When the children of Israel cried to Yahweh, Yahweh raised up a savior to the children of Israel, who saved them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother.

ושרת עלוהי רוח נבואה מן קדם יי ודן ית ישראל ונפק לאגחא קרבא ומסר יי בידוהי ית כושן חיבא מלכא דארם די על פרת ותקפת ידיה על כושן חיבא:
khyba kwshn el ydyh wthqpth prth el dy darm mlka khyba kwshn yth bydwhy yy wmsr qrba lagkha wnpq yshral yth wdn yy qdm mn nbwah rwkh elwhy wshrth
Yahweh’s Spirit came on him, and he judged Israel; and he went out to war, and Yahweh delivered Cushan Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand. His hand prevailed against Cushan Rishathaim.

ושדוכת ארעא דישראל ארבעין שנין ומית עתניאל בר קנז:
qnz br ethnyal wmyth shnyn arbeyn dyshral area wshdwkth
The land had rest forty years, then Othniel the son of Kenaz died.

ואוסיפו בני ישראל למעבד דביש קדם יי ותקיף יי ית עגלון מלכא דמואב על ישראל על דעבדו ית דביש קדם יי:
yy qdm dbysh yth debdw el yshral el dmwab mlka eglwn yth yy wthqyp yy qdm dbysh lmebd yshral bny wawsypw
The children of Israel again did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and Yahweh strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight.

וכנש לותיה ית בני עמון ועמלק ואזל ומחא ית ישראל ויריתו ית קרתא יריחו:
yrykhw qrtha yth wyrythw yshral yth wmkha wazl wemlq emwn bny yth lwthyh wknsh
He gathered the children of Ammon and Amalek to himself; and he went and struck Israel, and they possessed the city of palm trees.

ופלחו בני ישראל ית עגלון מלכא דמואב תמני עסרי שנין:
shnyn esry thmny dmwab mlka eglwn yth yshral bny wplkhw
The children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.
15
וזעיקו בני ישראל קדם יי ואקים יי להון פריק ית אהוד בר גרא בר שבטא דבנימין גברא גמיד בידיה דימינא ושדרו בני ישראל בידיה תקרובתא לעגלון מלכא דמואב:
dmwab mlka leglwn thqrwbtha bydyh yshral bny wshdrw dymyna bydyh gmyd gbra dbnymyn shbTa br gra br ahwd yth pryq lhwn yy waqym yy qdm yshral bny wzeyqw
But when the children of Israel cried to Yahweh, Yahweh raised up a savior for them: Ehud the son of Gera, the Benjamite, a left-handed man. The children of Israel sent tribute by him to Eglon the king of Moab.

ועבד ליה אהוד חרבא ולה תרין פומין גרמידא ארכא וזריז יתה מלרע ללבושוהי על ירכיה דימיניה:
dymynyh yrkyh el llbwshwhy mlre ythh wzryz arka grmyda pwmyn thryn wlh khrba ahwd lyh webd
Ehud made himself a sword which had two edges, a cubit in length; and he wore it under his clothing on his right thigh.

וקריב ית תקרובתא לעגלון מלכא דמואב ועגלון גבר פטים לחדא:
lkhda pTym gbr weglwn dmwab mlka leglwn thqrwbtha yth wqryb
He offered the tribute to Eglon king of Moab. Now Eglon was a very fat man.
18
והוה כד שיצי לקרבא ית תקרובתא ושלח ית עמא נטלי תקרובתא:
thqrwbtha nTly ema yth wshlkh thqrwbtha yth lqrba shytsy kd whwh
When Ehud had finished offering the tribute, he sent away the people who carried the tribute.
19
והוא תב מן מחצביא דעם גלגלא ואמר פתגמא דסתרא אית לי למללא עמך מלכא ואמר סליק ונפקו מעלווהי כל דקימין עלוהי:
elwhy dqymyn kl melwwhy wnpqw slyq wamr mlka emk lmlla ly ayth dsthra pthgma wamr glgla dem mkhtsbya mn thb whwa
But he himself turned back from the stone idols that were by Gilgal, and said, “I have a secret message for you, O king.” The king said, “Keep silence!” All who stood by him left him.

ואהוד עאל לותיה והוא יתיב בעלית בית קיטא דיליה בלחודוהי ואמר אהוד פתגמא דיי לי למללא עמך וקם מעל כורסיה:
kwrsyh mel wqm emk lmlla ly dyy pthgma ahwd wamr blkhwdwhy dylyh qyTa byth belyth ythyb whwa lwthyh eal wahwd
Ehud came to him; and he was sitting by himself alone in the cool upper room. Ehud said, “I have a message from God to you.” He arose out of his seat.

ואושיט אהוד ית יד שמאליה ונסיב ית חרבא מעל ירכא דימיניה וקבעה במעוהי:
bmewhy wqbeh dymynyh yrka mel khrba yth wnsyb shmalyh yd yth ahwd wawshyT
Ehud put out his left hand, and took the sword from his right thigh, and thrust it into his body.
22
ועל אף דסתקא בתר שננא וטמטם שומנא באפי שננא ארי לא שלף חרבא ממעוהי ונפק אוכליה שפיך:
shpyk awklyh wnpq mmewhy khrba shlp la ary shnna bapy shwmna wTmTm shnna bthr dsthqa ap wel
The handle also went in after the blade; and the fat closed on the blade, for he didn’t draw the sword out of his body; and it came out behind.

ונפק אהוד לאכסדרא ואחר דשי עיליתא באפוהי ואגף:
wagp bapwhy eylytha dshy wakhr laksdra ahwd wnpq
Then Ehud went out onto the porch, and shut the doors of the upper room on him, and locked them.
24
והוא נפק ועבדוהי עלו וחזו והא דשי עיליתא אחידן ואמרו ברם עביד הוא ית צורכיה באדרון בית קיטא:
qyTa byth badrwn tswrkyh yth hwa ebyd brm wamrw akhydn eylytha dshy wha wkhzw elw webdwhy npq whwa
After he had gone, his servants came and saw that the doors of the upper room were locked. They said, “Surely he is covering his feet in the upper room.”

ואוריכו עד סגי והא ליתוהי פתח דשי עליתא ונסיבו ית מפתחא ופתחו והא רבונהון טריף רמי על ארעא מית:

They waited until they were ashamed; and behold, he didn’t open the doors of the upper room. Therefore they took the key and opened them, and behold, their lord had fallen down dead on the floor.
26
ואהוד אשתזיב עד אתעכביהון והוא עבר ית מחצביא ואשתזיב לשעירתא:
lsheyrtha washthzyb mkhtsbya yth ebr whwa athekbyhwn ed ashthzyb wahwd
Ehud escaped while they waited, passed beyond the stone idols, and escaped to Seirah.

והוה במיתוהי ותקע בשופרא בטורא דבית אפרים ונחתו עמיה בני ישראל מן טורא והוא קדמיהון:
qdmyhwn whwa Twra mn yshral bny emyh wnkhthw aprym dbyth bTwra bshwpra wthqe bmythwhy whwh
When he had come, he blew a trumpet in the hill country of Ephraim; and the children of Israel went down with him from the hill country, and he led them.
28
ואמר להון רדיפו בתרי ארי מסר יי ית בעלי דבביכון ית מואבאי בידיכון ונחתו בתרוהי ואחדו ית מגיזת עבראי ירדנא על מואב ולא שבקו אנש למעבר:
lmebr ansh shbqw wla mwab el yrdna ebray mgyzth yth wakhdw bthrwhy wnkhthw bydykwn mwabay yth dbbykwn bely yth yy msr ary bthry rdypw lhwn wamr
He said to them, “Follow me; for Yahweh has delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand.” They followed him, and took the fords of the Jordan against the Moabites, and didn’t allow any man to pass over.
29
וקטלו ית מואב בעדנא ההיא כעסרא אלפין גברא כל אימתן וכל גבר גבר חילא ולא אישתזיב אנש:
ansh ayshthzyb wla khyla gbr gbr wkl aymthn kl gbra alpyn kesra hhya bedna mwab yth wqTlw
They struck at that time about ten thousand men of Moab, every strong man and every man of valor. No man escaped.
30
ואתברו מואבאי ביומא ההוא תחות יד אנש ישראל ושדוכת ארעא דישראל תמנן שנין:
shnyn thmnn dyshral area wshdwkth yshral ansh yd thkhwth hhwa bywma mwabay wathbrw
So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. Then the land had rest eighty years.
31
ובתרוהי הוה שמגר בר ענת וקטל ית פלשתאי שית מאה גברין בפרש תוריא ופרק אף הוא ית ישראל:
yshral yth hwa ap wprq thwrya bprsh gbryn mah shyth plshthay yth wqTl enth br shmgr hwh wbthrwhy
After him was Shamgar the son of Anath, who struck six hundred men of the Philistines with an ox goad. He also saved Israel.
