ܘܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܝܡܘ ܒܡܨܦܝܐ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܡܢܢ ܠܐ ܢܬܠ ܒܪܬܗ ܠܒܢܝ̈ ܒܢܝܡܝܢ ܠܐܢܬܬܐ
l'nthth' bnymyn lbny brthh nthl l' mnn dgbr' w'mrw bmtspy' 'ymw d'ysryl wgbr'
Now the men of Israel had sworn in Mizpah, saying, “None of us will give his daughter to Benjamin as a wife.”

ܘܐܬܘ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܒܝܬ ܐܝܠ ܘܐܝܬܒܘ ܬܡܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܪܡܫܐ ܩܕܡ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܐܪܝܡܘ ܩܠܗܘܢ ܘܒܟܘ ܒܟܬܐ ܪܒܬܐ

The people came to Bethel and sat there until evening before God, and lifted up their voices, and wept severely.

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܡܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܗܘܬ ܗܕܐ ܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܢܛܥܐ ܝܘܡܢܐ ܡܢ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܚܕ ܫܒܛܐ
shbT' khd 'ysryl mn ywmn' dnTe' 'ysryl byth hd' hwth d'ysryl 'lh' mry' lmn' w'mrw
They said, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, why has this happened in Israel, that there should be one tribe lacking in Israel today?”

ܘܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܝܘܡܐ ܩܕܡܘ ܥܡܐ ܘܒܢܘ ܬܡܢ ܡܕܒܚܐ ܘܐܣܩܘ ܥ̈ܠܘܬܐ ܘܫ̈ܠܡܐ
wshlm' elwth' w'sqw mdbkh' thmn wbnw em' qdmw ywm' bthr wmn
On the next day, the people rose early and built an altar there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܒܢܝ̈ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܢܘ ܕܠܐ ܣܠܩ ܒܟܢܫܐ ܡܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܫܒ̈ܛܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܡ̈ܘܡܬܐ ܪܒܬܐ ܗܘܬ ܕܡ̇ܢ ܕܠܐ ܣܠܩ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܨܦܝܐ ܡܡܬ ܢܡܘܬ

The children of Israel said, “Who is there among all the tribes of Israel who didn’t come up in the assembly to Yahweh?” For they had made a great oath concerning him who didn’t come up to Yahweh to Mizpah, saying, “He shall surely be put to death.”

ܘܐܬܬܘܝܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܥܠ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܒܢܝܡܝܢ ܐܚܘܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܝܘܡܢܐ ܥܢܕ ܫܒܛܐ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ
'ysryl mn khd shbT' end ywmn' w'mryn 'khwhwn bnymyn bny el 'ysryl bny w'ththwyw
The children of Israel grieved for Benjamin their brother, and said, “There is one tribe cut off from Israel today.

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܡܢܐ ܢܥܒܕ ܠܗܢܘܢ ܕܐܫܬܒܩܘ ܕܠܐ ܢܫ̈ܐ ܕܚܢܢ ܐܝܡܝܢ ܒܡܪܝܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܬܠ ܠܗܘܢ ܢܫ̈ܐ
nsh' lhwn nthl dl' bmry' 'ymyn dkhnn nsh' dl' d'shthbqw lhnwn nebd mn' w'mrw
How shall we provide wives for those who remain, since we have sworn by Yahweh that we will not give them of our daughters to wives?”

ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܡܢ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܫܒ̈ܛܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܐܝܠ ܕܠܐ ܣܠܩܘ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܨܦܝܐ ܘܠܐ ܐܬܘ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܠܡܫܪܝܬܐ ܡܢ ܝܬ̈ܒܝ ܝܒܝܫ ܕܓܠܥܕ
dgled ybysh ythby mn lmshryth' gbr' 'thw wl' lmtspy' mry' qdm slqw dl' d'ysr'yl shbT' mn khd mn w'mryn
They said, “What one is there of the tribes of Israel who didn’t come up to Yahweh to Mizpah?” Behold, no one came from Jabesh Gilead to the camp to the assembly.

ܘܐܬܡܢܝܘ ܬܡܢ ܥܡܐ ܘܠܐ ܐܫܬܟܚ ܐܢܫ ܬܡܢ ܡܢ ܝܬܒ̈ܝ ܝܒܝܫ ܕܓܠܥܕ
dgled ybysh ythby mn thmn 'nsh 'shthkkh wl' em' thmn w'thmnyw
For when the people were counted, behold, there were none of the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead there.

ܘܫܕܪܘ ܠܬܡܢ ܥܡܐ ܬܪ̈ܥܣܪ ܐ̈ܠܦܝܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܡܢ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܚܝܠܐ ܘܦܩܕܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܙܠܘ ܚܪܘܒܘ ܠܝܬ̈ܒܝ ܝܒܝܫ ܕܓܠܥܕ ܒܦܘܡܐ ܕܚܪܒܐ ܘܢܫ̈ܐ ܘ̈ܛܠܝܐ
wTly' wnsh' dkhrb' bpwm' dgled ybysh lythby khrwbw zlw lhwn w'mrw 'nwn wpqdw khyl' bny mn gbryn 'lpyn thresr em' lthmn wshdrw
The congregation sent twelve thousand of the most valiant men there, and commanded them, saying, “Go and strike the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead with the edge of the sword, with the women and the little ones.

ܗܟܢܐ ܥܒܕܘ ܠܟܠ ܓܒܪܐ ܘܠܟܠ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܕܚܟܡܗ̇ ܓܒܪܐ ܚܪܘܒܘ
khrwbw gbr' dkhkmh 'nthth' wlkl gbr' lkl ebdw hkn'
This is the thing that you shall do: you shall utterly destroy every male, and every woman who has lain with a man.”

ܘܐܫܟܚܘ ܡܢ ܝܬܒ̈ܝ ܝܒܝܫ ܕܓܠܥܕ ܐܪܒܥܡܐܐ ܥܠܝܡ̈ܬܐ ܒܬܘ̈ܠܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܚܟܡܘ ܐܢܝ̈ܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܘܐܝܬܝܘ ܐ̈ܢܝܢ ܠܡܫܪܝܬܐ ܠܫܝܠܘ ܕܒܐܪܥܐ ܕܟܢܥܢ

They found among the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead four hundred young virgins who had not known man by lying with him; and they brought them to the camp to Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan.

ܘܫܕܪܘ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܒܢܝܡܝܢ ܕܒܫܩܝܦܐ ܕܪܡܘܢ ܘܩܪܘ ܠܗ ܫܠܡܐ

The whole congregation sent and spoke to the children of Benjamin who were in the rock of Rimmon, and proclaimed peace to them.

ܘܐܬܐ ܒܢܝܡܝܢ ܒܙܒܢܐ ܗܘ ܘܝܗܒܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܢܫ̈ܐ ܕܐܚܝܘ ܡܢ ܢܫ̈ܐ ܕܝܒܝܫ ܕܓܠܥܕ ܘܠܐ ܡܠܝ ܠܗܘܢ
lhwn mly wl' dgled dybysh nsh' mn d'khyw nsh' lhwn wyhbw hw bzbn' bnymyn w'th'
Benjamin returned at that time; and they gave them the women whom they had saved alive of the women of Jabesh Gilead. There still weren’t enough for them.

ܘܥܡܐ ܐܬܬܘܝܘ ܥܠ ܒܢܝܡܝܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܥܒܕ ܡܪܝܐ ܬܘܪܥܬܐ ܒܫ̈ܒܛܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ
d'ysryl bshbT' thwreth' mry' debd mTl bnymyn el 'ththwyw wem'
The people grieved for Benjamin, because Yahweh had made a breach in the tribes of Israel.

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܣܒ̈ܐ ܕܥܡܐ ܡܢܐ ܢܥܒܕ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܫܬܒܩܘ ܕܠܐ ܢܫ̈ܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܐܫܬܚܪܘ ܡܛܠ ܕܣܦ ܠܗܝܢ ܢ̈ܫܐ ܕܒܢܝܡܝܢ
dbnymyn nsh' lhyn dsp mTl d'shthkhrw hlyn nsh' dl' d'shthbqw l'ylyn nebd mn' dem' sb' w'mrw
Then the elders of the congregation said, “How shall we provide wives for those who remain, since the women are destroyed out of Benjamin?”

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܕܢܫܬܒܩ ܫܪܟܢܐ ܕܒܢܝܡܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܛܥܐ ܫܒܛܐ ܡܢ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ
'ysryl mn shbT' nTe' wl' dbnymyn shrkn' dnshthbq w'mrw
They said, “There must be an inheritance for those who are escaped of Benjamin, that a tribe not be blotted out from Israel.

ܚܢܢ ܓܝܪ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܝܢܢ ܕܢܬܠ ܠܗܘܢ ܢܫ̈ܐ ܡܢ ܒܢ̈ܬܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܝܡܘ ܒܢܝ̈ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܝܛ ܗܘ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܢܬܠ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܠܒܢܝܡܝܢ
lbnymyn 'nthth' dnthl mn hw lyT w'mrw 'ysryl bny d'ymw mTl bnthn mn nsh' lhwn dnthl mshkkhynn l' gyr khnn
However, we may not give them wives of our daughters, for the children of Israel had sworn, saying, ‘Cursed is he who gives a wife to Benjamin.’”

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܗܐ ܚܓܐ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܫܝܠܘ ܡܢ ܥܕܢ ܠܥܕܢ ܡܢ ܓܪܒܝܐ ܕܒܝܬ ܐܝܠ ܡܢ ܡܕ̈ܢܚܝ ܫܡܫܐ ܡܢ ܫܒܝܠܐ ܕܣܠܩ ܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܐܝܠ ܠܫܟܝܡ ܡܢ ܬܝܡܢܐ ܕܠܒܘܢܐ
dlbwn' thymn' mn lshkym 'yl byth mn dslq shbyl' mn shmsh' mdnkhy mn 'yl dbyth grby' mn ledn edn mn bshylw hw' dmry' khg' h' w'mrw
They said, “Behold, there is a feast of Yahweh from year to year in Shiloh, which is on the north of Bethel, on the east side of the highway that goes up from Bethel to Shechem, and on the south of Lebonah.”

ܘܦܩܕܘ ܠܒܢ̈ܝ ܒܢܝܡܝܢ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܙܠܘ ܟܡܢܘ ܒܟܪ̈ܡܐ
bkrm' kmnw zlw lhwn w'mrw bnymyn lbny wpqdw
They commanded the children of Benjamin, saying, “Go and lie in wait in the vineyards,

ܘܡܐ ܕܚܙܝܬܘܢ ܕܢܦܩ ܡܢ ܒܢ̈ܬ ܫܝܠܘ ܠܡܩܫ ܒ̈ܦܠܓܐ ܦܘܩܘ ܡܢ ܟܪ̈ܡܐ ܘܚܛܘܦܘ ܠܟܘܢ ܓܒܪ ܐܢܬܬܗ ܡܢ ܒܢ̈ܬ ܫܝܠܘ ܘܙܠܘ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܕܒܢܝܡܝܢ
dbnymyn l're' wzlw shylw bnth mn 'nththh gbr lkwn wkhTwpw krm' mn pwqw bplg' lmqsh shylw bnth mn dnpq dkhzythwn wm'
and see, and behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in the dances, then come out of the vineyards, and each man catch his wife of the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin.

ܘܐܢ ܐܬܘ ܐܒܗܝ̈ܗܝܢ ܐܘ ܐ̈ܚܝܗܝܢ ܠܡܕܢ ܩܕܡܝܢ ܐܡܪܝܢܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܪܚܡܘ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܕܒܪܘ ܓܒܪ ܐܢܬܬܗ ܒܩܪܒܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܝܗܒܬܘܢ ܐ̈ܢܝܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܬܚܛܘܢ
dthkhTwn lhwn 'nyn yhbthwn 'nthwn hw' l' bqrb' 'nththh gbr dbrw dl' mTl elyhwn rkhmw lhwn 'mrynn qdmyn lmdn 'khyhyn 'w 'bhyhyn 'thw w'n
It shall be, when their fathers or their brothers come to complain to us, that we will say to them, ‘Grant them graciously to us, because we didn’t take for each man his wife in battle, neither did you give them to them; otherwise you would now be guilty.’”

ܘܥܒܕܘ ܗܟܢܐ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܒܢܝܡܝܢ ܘܢܣܒܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܢܫ̈ܐ ܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܡܢ ܢܩ̈ܫܬ ܦ̈ܠܓܐ ܕܚܛܦܘ ܘܗܦܟܘ ܘܐܬܘ ܠܝܪܬܘܬܗܘܢ ܘܒܢܘ ܩܘܪ̈ܝܐ ܘܐܝܬܒܘ ܒܗܝܢ
bhyn w'ythbw qwry' wbnw lyrthwthhwn w'thw whpkw dkhTpw plg' nqshth mn lklhwn nsh' lhwn wnsbw bnymyn bny hkn' webdw
The children of Benjamin did so, and took wives for themselves according to their number, of those who danced, whom they carried off. They went and returned to their inheritance, built the cities, and lived in them.

ܘܐܙܠܘ ܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܒܙܒܢܐ ܗܘ ܐܢܫ ܠܫܒܛܗ ܘܠܫܪܒܬܗ ܘܢܦܩܘ ܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܐܢܫ ܠܝܪܬܘܬܗ

The children of Israel departed from there at that time, every man to his tribe and to his family, and they each went out from there to his own inheritance.

ܘܒܝ̈ܘܡܬܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܠܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܟܠ ܐܢܫ ܐܝܟ ܕܫܦܝܪ ܒܥܝ̈ܢܘܗܝ ܗܘ ܗܘ ܥܒ̇ܕ ܗܘܐ
hw' ebd hw hw beynwhy dshpyr 'yk 'nsh wkl 'ysryl byth mlk' hw' lyth hnwn wbywmth'
In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did that which was right in his own eyes.
