ܘܣܠܩ ܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܡܢ ܓܠܓܠܐ ܠܒܟܝܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܒ̈ܢܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܢܐ ܐܣܩܬܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܪܥܐ ܕܡܨܪܝܢ ܘܐܝܬܝܬܟܘܢ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܕܐܝܡܝܬ ܠܐ̈ܒܗܝܟܘܢ ܘܐܡܪܬ ܕܠܐ ܐܒܛܠ ܩܝܡܝ ܕܥܡܟܘܢ ܠܥܠܡ

Yahweh’s angel came up from Gilgal to Bochim. He said, “I brought you out of Egypt, and have brought you to the land which I swore to give your fathers. I said, ‘I will never break my covenant with you.

ܘܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܐ ܬܩܝܡܘܢ ܩܝܡܐ ܠܝܬ̈ܒܝ ܐܪܥܐ ܗܕܐ ܡܕܒܚܝ̈ܗܘܢ ܥܩܪܘ ܘܠܐ ܫܡܥܬܘܢ ܠܩܠܝ ܠܡܢܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܥܒܕܬܘܢ
ebdthwn hkn' lmn' lqly shmethwn wl' eqrw mdbkhyhwn hd' 're' lythby qym' thqymwn l' w'nthwn
You shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land. You shall break down their altars.’ But you have not listened to my voice. Why have you done this?

ܐܦ ܐܢܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪܬ ܕܠܐ ܐܘܒܕ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܝܟܘܢ ܘܢܗܘܘܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܠܣܪܝܩܘܬܐ ܘܐ̈ܠܗܝܗܘܢ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܠܬܘܩܠܬܐ
lthwqlth' lkwn nhwwn w'lhyhwn lsryqwth' lkwn wnhwwn qdmykwn mn 'nwn 'wbd dl' 'mrth hkn' 'n' 'p
Therefore I also said, ‘I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be in your sides, and their gods will be a snare to you.’”

ܘܟܕ ܐܡܪ ܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܡ̈ܠܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܪܝܡܘ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܩܠܗܘܢ ܘܒܟܘ
wbkw qlhwn em' klh 'rymw l'ysryl klhyn hlyn ml' dmry' ml'kh 'mr wkd
When Yahweh’s angel spoke these words to all the children of Israel, the people lifted up their voice and wept.

ܘܩܪܐ ܥܡܐ ܫܡܗ ܕܐܬܪܐ ܗܘ ܒܟܝܢ ܘܕܒܚܘ ܬܡܢ ܠܡܪܝܐ
lmry' thmn wdbkhw bkyn hw d'thr' shmh em' wqr'
They called the name of that place Bochim, and they sacrificed there to Yahweh.

ܘܫܕܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܥܡܐ ܘܐܙܠܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܓܒܪ ܠܝܪܬܘܬܗ ܠܡܐܪܬ ܐܪܥܐ

Now when Joshua had sent the people away, the children of Israel each went to his inheritance to possess the land.

ܘܦܠܚܘ ܥܡܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܗ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܕܩܫܝ̈ܫܐ ܕܐܓܪܘ ܒܬܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܚܙܘ ܥܒܕ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܪ̈ܘܪܒܬܐ ܕܥܒܕ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ
l'ysryl debd wrwrbth' dmry' ebdwhy wkhzw yshwe bthr d'grw dqshysh' ywmth' wklhwn dyshwe ywmthh klhwn lmry' em' wplkhw
The people served Yahweh all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great work of Yahweh that he had worked for Israel.

ܘܡܝܬ ܝܫܘܥ ܒܪܢܘܢ ܥܒܕܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܒܪ ܡܐܐ ܘܥܣܪ ܫ̈ܢܝܢ
shnyn wesr m'' br dmry' ebdh brnwn yshwe wmyth
Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Yahweh, died, being one hundred ten years old.

ܘܩܒܪܘܗܝ ܒܬܚܘܡܐ ܕܝܪܬܘܬܗ ܒܬܡܢܬ ܣܪܚ ܕܒܛܘܪܐ ܕܐܦܪܝܡ ܡܢ ܓܪܒܝܐ ܕܛܘܪܐ ܕܓܥܫ
dgesh dTwr' grby' mn d'prym dbTwr' srkh bthmnth dyrthwthh bthkhwm' wqbrwhy
They buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath Heres, in the hill country of Ephraim, on the north of the mountain of Gaash.

ܘܐܦ ܟܠܗ ܕܪܐ ܗܘ ܐܬܟܢܫܘ ܠܘܬ ܐܒ̈ܗܝܗܘܢ ܘܩܡ ܕܪܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܒܬܪܗܘܢ ܕܠܐ ܐܝܕܥܘ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܦ ܠܐ ܠܥܒ̈ܕܘܗܝ ܕܥܒܕ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ
l'ysryl debd lebdwhy l' w'p lmry' 'ydew dl' bthrhwn 'khrn' dr' wqm 'bhyhwn lwth 'thknshw hw dr' klh w'p
After all that generation were gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who didn’t know Yahweh, nor the work which he had done for Israel.

ܘܥܒܕܘ ܒܢܝ̈ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܒܝܫ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܦܠܚܘ ܠܒܥܠܐ
lbel' wplkhw mry' qdm dbysh 'ysryl bny webdw
The children of Israel did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and served the Baals.

ܘܫܒܩܘ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܒܗ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܕܐܦܩ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܪܥܐ ܕܡܨܪܝܢ ܘܐܙܠܘ ܒܬܪ ܐ̈ܠܗܐ ܐܚܪ̈ܢܐ ܕܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܕܒܚܕܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܘܣܓܕܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܐܪܓܙܘ ܠܡܪܝܐ
lmry' w'rgzw lhwn wsgdw dbkhdryhwn demm' 'khrn' 'lh' bthr w'zlw dmtsryn 're' mn 'nwn d'pq d'bhyhwn 'lh' lmry' wshbqw
They abandoned Yahweh, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the peoples who were around them, and bowed themselves down to them; and they provoked Yahweh to anger.

ܘܫܒܩܘ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܦܠܚܘ ܠܒܥܠܐ ܘܠܐܣܬܪ̈ܬܐ
wl'sthrth' lbel' wplkhw lmry' wshbqw
They abandoned Yahweh, and served Baal and the Ashtaroth.

ܘܐܬܚܡܬ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܫܠܡ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܒܙܘ̈ܙܐ ܘܒܙܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܫܠܡ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܒ̈ܥܠܕܒܒܝܗܘܢ ܕܒܚܕܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܐܫܟܚܘ ܬܘܒ ܠܡܩܡ ܩܕܡ ܒ̈ܥܠܕܒܒܝܗܘܢ
beldbbyhwn qdm lmqm thwb 'shkkhw wl' dbkhdryhwn dbeldbbyhwn b'yd' 'nwn w'shlm 'nwn wbzw dbzwz' b'yd' 'nwn w'shlm 'ysryl el mry' w'thkhmth
Yahweh’s anger burned against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of raiders who plundered them. He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, so that they could no longer stand before their enemies.

ܘܠܟܪ ܕܢܦܩܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܐܝܕܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܗܘܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܠܒܝܫܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܕܐܝܡܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܥܩܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܛܒ
Tb lhwn weqth mry' lhwn d'ym' w'yk mry' d'mr 'yk lbyshth' elyhwn hwth hwy' dmry' 'ydh hww dnpqyn wlkr
Wherever they went out, Yahweh’s hand was against them for evil, as Yahweh had spoken, and as Yahweh had sworn to them; and they were very distressed.

ܘܐܩܝܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܕܝܢ̈ܐ ܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܦܪܩܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܒܙܘ̈ܙܝܗܘܢ
dbzwzyhwn 'yd' mn 'nwn wprqw 'ysryl byth dyn' mry' w'qym
Yahweh raised up judges, who saved them out of the hand of those who plundered them.

ܘܐܦ ܠܕܝܢܝ̈ܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܫܡܥܘ ܡܛܘܠ ܕܛܥܘ ܒܬܪ ܐ̈ܠܗܐ ܐܚܪ̈ܢܐ ܘܣܓܕܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܣܛܘ ܒܥܓܠ ܡܢ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܐܙܠܘ ܒܗ̇ ܐ̈ܒܗܝܗܘܢ ܠܡܫܡܥ ܦܘܩ̈ܕܢܘܗܝ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܐ ܥܒܕܘ ܗܟܢܐ
hkn' ebdw wl' dmry' pwqdnwhy lmshme 'bhyhwn bh d'zlw 'wrkh' mn begl wsTw lhwn wsgdw 'khrn' 'lh' bthr dTew mTwl shmew l' ldynyhwn w'p
Yet they didn’t listen to their judges; for they prostituted themselves to other gods, and bowed themselves down to them. They quickly turned away from the way in which their fathers walked, obeying Yahweh’s commandments. They didn’t do so.

ܘܟܕ ܐܩܝܡ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܕܝܢ̈ܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܡ ܕܝܢ̈ܐ ܘܦܪܩ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܒ̈ܥܠܕܒܒܝܗܘܢ ܟܠ ܝܘܡ̈ܝ ܕܝܢ̈ܐ ܫܡ̇ܥ ܗܘܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܢܩܬܗܘܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܐ̈ܠܘܨܝܗܘܢ ܘܕܚܘ̈ܩܝܗܘܢ
wdkhwqyhwn 'lwtsyhwn qdm mn 'nqthhwn mry' hw' shme dyn' ywmy kl dbeldbbyhwn 'yd' mn 'nwn wprq dyn' em mry' hw' dyn' mry' lhwn 'qym wkd
When Yahweh raised up judges for them, then Yahweh was with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for it grieved Yahweh because of their groaning by reason of those who oppressed them and troubled them.

ܘܟܕ ܡܝܬܘ ܕܝܢ̈ܐ ܗܦܟܘ ܘܚܒܠܘ ܡܢ ܐ̈ܒܗܝܗܘܢ ܠܡܐܙܠ ܒܬܪ ܐ̈ܠܗܐ ܐܚܪ̈ܢܐ ܠܡܦܠܚ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܠܡܣܓܕ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܒܨܪܘ ܡܢ ܥܒ̈ܕܝܗܘܢ ܘܡܢ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗܘܢ ܒܝܫ̈ܬܐ
byshth' 'wrkhthhwn wmn ebdyhwn mn btsrw wl' lhwn wlmsgd 'nwn lmplkh 'khrn' 'lh' bthr lm'zl 'bhyhwn mn wkhblw hpkw dyn' mythw wkd
But when the judge was dead, they turned back, and dealt more corruptly than their fathers in following other gods to serve them and to bow down to them. They didn’t cease what they were doing, or give up their stubborn ways.

ܘܐܬܚܡܬ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܡܪ ܥܠ ܕܥܒܪܘ ܥܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܥܠ ܩܝܡܝ ܕܦܩܕܬ ܠܐ̈ܒܗܝܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܫܡܥܘ ܒܩܠܝ
bqly shmew wl' l'bhyhwn dpqdth qymy el hn' em' debrw el w'mr 'ysryl el mry' w'thkhmth
Yahweh’s anger burned against Israel; and he said, “Because this nation transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and has not listened to my voice,

ܘܐܦ ܐܢܐ ܠܐ ܐܘܣܦ ܠܡܘܒܕܘ ܠܐܢܫ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܝܗܘܢ ܡܢ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܕܫܒܩ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܡܝܬ
wmyth yshwe dshbq emm' mn qdmyhwn mn l'nsh lmwbdw 'wsp l' 'n' w'p
I also will no longer drive out any of the nations that Joshua left when he died from before them;

ܡܛܠ ܕܢܢܣܐ ܒܗܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܢ ܢܛܪܝܢ ܐܘܪܚܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܢ ܡܗܠܟܝܢ ܒܗ̇ ܐܝܟ ܕܢܛܪܘ ܐ̈ܒܗܝܗܘܢ ܐܘ ܠܐ
l' 'w 'bhyhwn dnTrw 'yk bh mhlkyn w'n dmry' 'wrkhh nTryn 'n l'ysryl mry' bhwn dnns' mTl
that by them I may test Israel, to see if they will keep Yahweh’s way to walk therein, as their fathers kept it, or not.”
