1
והוה לזמן יומין ביומי חצד חטין ואדכר שמשון ית אתתיה בגדיא בר עזי ואמר איעול לות אתתי לאדרון בית משכבא ולא שבקיה אבוהא למיעל:
lmyel abwha shbqyh wla mshkba byth ladrwn aththy lwth ayewl wamr ezy br bgdya aththyh yth shmshwn wadkr khTyn khtsd bywmy ywmyn lzmn whwh
But after a while, in the time of wheat harvest, Samson visited his wife with a young goat. He said, “I will go in to my wife’s room.” But her father wouldn’t allow him to go in.

ואמר אבוהא מימר אמרית ארי מסנא סניתה ויהביתה לחברך הלא אחתה זערתא שפירא מנה תהי כען לך חלופא:
khlwpa lk ken thhy mnh shpyra zertha akhthh hla lkhbrk wyhbythh snythh msna ary amryth mymr abwha wamr
Her father said, “I most certainly thought that you utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to your companion. Isn’t her younger sister more beautiful than she? Please, take her instead.”

ואמר להון שמשון זכאי אנא זמנא הדא מפלשתאי ארי עביד אנא עמהון בישא:
bysha emhwn ana ebyd ary mplshthay hda zmna ana zkay shmshwn lhwn wamr
Samson said to them, “This time I will be blameless in the case of the Philistines when I harm them.”

ואזל שמשון ואחד תלת מאה תעלין ונסיב בעוריא וקטר דנבא בריש דנבא ושוי בעורא חד בין תרין דנביא במציען:
bmtsyen dnbya thryn byn khd bewra wshwy dnba brysh dnba wqTr bewrya wnsyb thelyn mah thlth wakhd shmshwn wazl
Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took torches, and turned tail to tail, and put a torch in the middle between every two tails.

ואדליק אשתא בבעוריא ושלח בקמת פלשתאי ואדליק מגדישיא ועד כרמיא ועד זיתא:
zytha wed krmya wed mgdyshya wadlyq plshthay bqmth wshlkh bbewrya ashtha wadlyq
When he had set the torches on fire, he let them go into the standing grain of the Philistines, and burned up both the shocks and the standing grain, and also the olive groves.

ואמרו פלשתאי מן עבד דא ואמרו שמשון חתניה דתמני ארי נסיב ית אתתיה ויהבה לחבריה וסליקו פלשתאי ואוקידו יתה וית אבוהא בנורא:
bnwra abwha wyth ythh wawqydw plshthay wslyqw lkhbryh wyhbh aththyh yth nsyb ary dthmny khthnyh shmshwn wamrw da ebd mn plshthay wamrw
Then the Philistines said, “Who has done this?” They said, “Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he has taken his wife and given her to his companion.” The Philistines came up, and burned her and her father with fire.

ואמר להון שמשון אם תעבדון כהדא אלהן כד אתפרע מנכון ובתר כן אתמנע:
athmne kn wbthr mnkwn athpre kd alhn khda thebdwn am shmshwn lhwn wamr
Samson said to them, “If you behave like this, surely I will take revenge on you, and after that I will cease.”

ומחא יתהון פרשין עם רגלאין מחא סגיאה ונחת ויתיב בשקיף כיף עיטם:
eyTm kyp bshqyp wythyb wnkhth sgyah mkha rglayn em prshyn ythhwn wmkha
He struck them hip and thigh with a great slaughter; and he went down and lived in the cave in Etam’s rock.

וסליקו פלשתאי ושרו בארעא דבית יהודה ואתרטישו על לחי:
lkhy el wathrTyshw yhwdh dbyth barea wshrw plshthay wslyqw
Then the Philistines went up, encamped in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.

ואמרו אנשי יהודה למא סלקתון עלנא ואמרו למיסר ית שמשון סליקנא למעבד ליה כמא דעבד לנא:
lna debd kma lyh lmebd slyqna shmshwn yth lmysr wamrw elna slqthwn lma yhwdh anshy wamrw
The men of Judah said, “Why have you come up against us?” They said, “We have come up to bind Samson, to do to him as he has done to us.”

ונחתו תלתא אלפין גברא מדבית יהודה לשקיף כיף עיטם ואמרו לשמשון הלא ידעתא ארי שלטין בנא פלשתאי ומה דא עבדת לנא ואמר להון כמא דעבדו לי כן עבדית להון:
lhwn ebdyth kn ly debdw kma lhwn wamr lna ebdth da wmh plshthay bna shlTyn ary ydetha hla lshmshwn wamrw eyTm kyp lshqyp yhwdh mdbyth gbra alpyn thltha wnkhthw
Then three thousand men of Judah went down to the cave in Etam’s rock, and said to Samson, “Don’t you know that the Philistines are rulers over us? What then is this that you have done to us?” He said to them, “As they did to me, so I have done to them.”

ואמרו ליה למיסרך נחתנא לממסרך בידא דפלשתאי ואמר להון שמשון קיימו לי דלמא תשלטון בי אתון:
athwn by thshlTwn dlma ly qyymw shmshwn lhwn wamr dplshthay byda lmmsrk nkhthna lmysrk lyh wamrw
They said to him, “We have come down to bind you, that we may deliver you into the hand of the Philistines.” Samson said to them, “Swear to me that you will not attack me yourselves.”

ואמרו ליה למימר לא ארי מיסר ניסרינך ונמסרינך בידיהון ומקטל לא נקטלנך ואסרוהי בתרתין גדילן חדתין ואסקוהי מן כיפא:
kypa mn wasqwhy khdthyn gdyln bthrthyn wasrwhy nqTlnk la wmqTl bydyhwn wnmsrynk nysrynk mysr ary la lmymr lyh wamrw
They spoke to him, saying, “No, but we will bind you securely and deliver you into their hands; but surely we will not kill you.” They bound him with two new ropes, and brought him up from the rock.

הוא אתא עד לחי ופלשתאי יביבו לקדמותיה ושרת עלוהי רוח גבורא מן קדם יי והואה גדילתא דעל דרעוהי ככתנא דארח ביה נורא ואתמסיו אסרוהי מעל ידוהי:
ydwhy mel asrwhy wathmsyw nwra byh darkh kkthna drewhy del gdyltha whwah yy qdm mn gbwra rwkh elwhy wshrth lqdmwthyh ybybw wplshthay lkhy ed atha hwa
When he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted as they met him. Then Yahweh’s Spirit came mightily on him, and the ropes that were on his arms became as flax that was burned with fire; and his bands dropped from off his hands.

ואשכח לועא דחמרא בטינתא ואושיט ידיה ונסבה וקטל בה אלף גברא:
gbra alp bh wqTl wnsbh ydyh wawshyT bTyntha dkhmra lwea washkkh
He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, put out his hand, took it, and struck a thousand men with it.

ואמר שמשון בלועא דחמרא רמיתנון דגורין בלועא דחמרא קטלית אלף גברא:
gbra alp qTlyth dkhmra blwea dgwryn rmythnwn dkhmra blwea shmshwn wamr
Samson said, “With the jawbone of a donkey, heaps on heaps; with the jawbone of a donkey I have struck a thousand men.”

והוה כשיציותיה למללא ורמא לועא מן ידיה וקרא לאתרא ההוא רמת לחי:
lkhy rmth hhwa lathra wqra ydyh mn lwea wrma lmlla kshytsywthyh whwh
When he had finished speaking, he threw the jawbone out of his hand; and that place was called Ramath Lehi.

וצחי לחדא וצלי קדם יי ואמר את עבדת על יד עבדך ית פורקנא רבא הדא וכען אימות בצחותא ואתמסר בידא דערליא:
derlya byda wathmsr btskhwtha aymwth wken hda rba pwrqna yth ebdk yd el ebdth ath wamr yy qdm wtsly lkhda wtskhy
He was very thirsty, and called on Yahweh and said, “You have given this great deliverance by the hand of your servant; and now shall I die of thirst, and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?”

ובזע יי ית כיפא די בלועא ונפקו מניה מיא ושתי ותבת רוחיה וחיא על כן אתקרי שמה עינא דאתיהיבת בצלותא דשמשון היא קימא בלחי עד יומא הדין:
hdyn ywma ed blkhy qyma hya dshmshwn btslwtha dathyhybth eyna shmh athqry kn el wkhya rwkhyh wthbth wshthy mya mnyh wnpqw blwea dy kypa yth yy wbze
But God split the hollow place that is in Lehi, and water came out of it. When he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived. Therefore its name was called En Hakkore, which is in Lehi, to this day.
