ܘܐܘܣܦܘ ܬܘܒ ܒܢܝ̈ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܡܥܒܕ ܕܒܝܫ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܫܠܡ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ ܐܪ̈ܒܥܝܢ ܫܢܝ̈ܢ
shnyn 'rbeyn dplshthy' b'yd' mry' 'nwn w'shlm mry' qdm dbysh lmebd 'ysryl bny thwb w'wspw
The children of Israel again did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight; and Yahweh delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.

ܘܗܘܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܨܕܥܐ ܡܢ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܕܕܢ ܘܫܡܗ ܡܢܘܚ ܘܐܢܬܬܗ ܥܩܪܬܐ ܗܘܬ ܘܠܐ ܝܠܕܐ
yld' wl' hwth eqrth' w'nththh mnwkh wshmh ddn shrbth' mn tsde' mn khd gbr' whw'
There was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and childless.

ܘܐܬܚܙܝ ܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܐܢܬܬܐ ܗܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ̇ ܗܐ ܐܢܬܝ ܥܩܪܐ ܘܠܐ ܝܠܕܐ ܗܫܐ ܬܒܛܢܝܢ ܘܬܐܠܕܝܢ ܒܪܐ
br' wth'ldyn thbTnyn hsh' yld' wl' eqr' 'nthy h' lh w'mr hy l'nthth' dmry' ml'kh w'thkhzy
Yahweh’s angel appeared to the woman, and said to her, “See now, you are barren and childless; but you shall conceive and bear a son.

ܐܙܕܗܪ ܕܠܡܐ ܬܫܬܝܢ ܚܡܪܐ ܐܘ ܫܟܪܐ ܘܠܐ ܬܐܟܠܝܢ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܕܛܡܐ
dTm' mdm kl th'klyn wl' shkr' 'w khmr' thshthyn dlm' 'zdhr
Now therefore please beware and drink no wine nor strong drink, and don’t eat any unclean thing;

ܡܛܠ ܕܗܐ ܒܛܢܐ ܐܢܬܝ ܘܝܠܕܐ ܐܢܬܝ ܒܪܐ ܘܡܕܟܝܐ ܠܐ ܢܣܩ ܥܠ ܪܝܫܗ ܡܛܘܠ ܕܢܙܝܪܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܛܠܝܐ ܡܢ ܡܪܒܥܐ ܘܗܘ ܢܫܪܐ ܠܡܦܪܩ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܦܠܫܬ̈ܝܐ
dplshthy' 'yd' mn l'ysryl lmprq nshr' whw mrbe' mn Tly' nhw' d'lh' dnzyrh mTwl ryshh el nsq l' wmdky' br' 'nthy wyld' 'nthy bTn' dh' mTl
for, behold, you shall conceive and give birth to a son. No razor shall come on his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb. He shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”

ܘܐܬܬ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܘܐܡܪܬ ܠܒܥܠܗ̇ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܬܐ ܠܘܬܝ ܘܐܬܚܙܝ ܠܝ ܒܚܙܘܐ ܕܡܠܐܟܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܙܥܬ ܛܒ ܘܠܐ ܫܐܠܬܗ ܡܢ ܐܝܡܟܐ ܗܘ ܘܫܡܗ ܠܐ ܚܘܝܢܝ
khwyny l' wshmh hw 'ymk' mn sh'lthh wl' Tb wzeth d'lh' dml'k' bkhzw' ly w'thkhzy lwthy 'th' d'lh' gbr' lbelh w'mrth 'nthth' w'thth
Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, “A man of God came to me, and his face was like the face of the angel of God, very awesome. I didn’t ask him where he was from, neither did he tell me his name;

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܝ ܕܗܐ ܒܛܢܐ ܐܢܬܝ ܘܝܠܕܐ ܐܢܬܝ ܒܪܐ ܡܟܝܠ ܠܐ ܬܫܬܝܢ ܚܡܪܐ ܐܘ ܫܟܪܐ ܘܠܐ ܬܐܟܠܝܢ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܕܛܡܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܢܙܝܪܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܛܠܝܐ ܡܢ ܡܪܒܥܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܐ ܕܡܐܬ
dm'th lywm' edm' mrbe' mn Tly' nhw' d'lh' dnzyrh mTl dTm' mdm kl th'klyn wl' shkr' 'w khmr' thshthyn l' mkyl br' 'nthy wyld' 'nthy bTn' dh' ly w'mr
but he said to me, ‘Behold, you shall conceive and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink. Don’t eat any unclean thing, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death.’”

ܘܒܥܐ ܡܢܘܚ ܡܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܒܒܥܘ ܡܪܝܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܫܕܪܬ ܢܐܬܐ ܬܘܒ ܠܘܬܢ ܘܢܠܦܢ ܡܢܐ ܢܥܒܕ ܠܗ ܠܛܠܝܐ ܕܡܬܝܠܕ
dmthyld lTly' lh nebd mn' wnlpn lwthn thwb n'th' dshdrth d'lh' gbr' mry' bbew w'mr mry' mn mnwkh wbe'
Then Manoah entreated Yahweh, and said, “Oh, Lord, please let the man of God whom you sent come again to us, and teach us what we should do to the child who shall be born.”

ܘܫܡܥ ܡܪܝܐ ܒܩܠܗ ܕܡܢܘܚ ܘܐܬܐ ܬܘܒ ܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܘܬ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܘܗܝ ܝܬܒܐ ܗܘܬ ܒܚܩܠܐ ܘܡܢܘܚ ܒܥܠܗ̇ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܘܬܗ̇
lwthh hw' l' belh wmnwkh bkhql' hwth ythb' why 'nthth' lwth dmry' ml'kh thwb w'th' dmnwkh bqlh mry' wshme
God listened to the voice of Manoah, and the angel of God came again to the woman as she sat in the field; but Manoah, her husband, wasn’t with her.

ܘܐܣܬܪܗܒܬ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܘܪܗܛܬ ܘܚܘܝܬ ܠܒܥܠܗ̇ ܘܐܡܪܐ ܠܗ ܗܐ ܐܬܚܙܝ ܠܝ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܐܬܐ ܒܗܘ ܝܘܡܐ ܠܘܬܝ
lwthy ywm' bhw d'th' gbr' ly 'thkhzy h' lh w'mr' lbelh wkhwyth wrhTth 'nthth' w'sthrhbth
The woman hurried and ran, and told her husband, saying to him, “Behold, the man who came to me that day has appeared to me.”

ܘܩܡ ܡܢܘܚ ܘܐܙܠ ܥܡ ܐܢܬܬܗ ܘܐܬܐ ܠܘܬ ܓܒܪܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܢܬ ܗܘ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܡܠܠܬ ܥܡ ܗܕܐ ܐܢܬܬܐ
'nthth' hd' em dmllth gbr' hw 'nth lh w'mr gbr' lwth w'th' 'nththh em w'zl mnwkh wqm
Manoah arose and followed his wife, and came to the man, and said to him, “Are you the man who spoke to my wife?” He said, “I am.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܗܘ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܢܘܚ ܗܫܐ ܗܘܐ ܦܬܓܡܟ ܐܡܪ ܠܝ ܡܢܐ ܗܘ ܕܝܢܗ ܕܛܠܝܐ ܘܥܒ̈ܕܘܗܝ
webdwhy dTly' dynh hw mn' ly 'mr pthgmk hw' hsh' mnwkh w'mr hw 'n' w'mr
Manoah said, “Now let your words happen. What shall the child’s way of life and mission be?”

ܘܐܡܪ ܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܢܘܚ ܡܢ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܕܐܡܪܬ ܠܐܢܬܬܐ ܬܙܕܗܪ
thzdhr l'nthth' d'mrth mdm kl mn lmnwkh dmry' ml'kh w'mr
Yahweh’s angel said to Manoah, “Of all that I said to the woman let her beware.

ܡܢ ܟܠ ܕܢܦܩ ܡܢ ܓܦܬܐ ܠܐ ܬܐܟܘܠ ܘܚܡܪܐ ܘܫܟܪܐ ܠܐ ܬܫܬܐ ܘܟܘܠ ܕܛܡܐ ܠܐ ܬܐܟܘܠ ܘܟܘܠ ܕܦܩܕܬܗ̇ ܬܛܪ
thTr dpqdthh wkwl th'kwl l' dTm' wkwl thshth' l' wshkr' wkhmr' th'kwl l' gpth' mn dnpq kl mn
She may not eat of anything that comes of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing. Let her observe all that I commanded her.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܡܢܘܚ ܠܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܢܟܠܝܟ ܘܢܥܒܕ ܓܕܝܐ ܕܥܙ̈ܐ ܩܕܡܝܟ
qdmyk dez' gdy' wnebd nklyk dmry' lml'kh mnwkh w'mr
Manoah said to Yahweh’s angel, “Please stay with us, that we may make a young goat ready for you.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܢܘܚ ܐܢ ܬܟܠܝܢܝ ܠܐ ܐܟܘܠ ܡܢ ܠܚܡܟ ܘܐܢ ܬܣܩ ܥܠܬܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܬܣܩܝܗ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܗܘܐ ܡܢܘܚ ܕܡܠܐܟܗ ܗܘ ܕܡܪܝܐ
dmry' hw dml'kh mnwkh hw' yde dl' mTl thsqyh lmry' elth' thsq w'n lkhmk mn 'kwl l' thklyny 'n lmnwkh dmry' ml'kh w'mr
Yahweh’s angel said to Manoah, “Though you detain me, I won’t eat your bread. If you will prepare a burnt offering, you must offer it to Yahweh.” For Manoah didn’t know that he was Yahweh’s angel.

ܘܐܡܪ ܡܢܘܚ ܠܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܡܢܘ ܫܡܟ ܕܡܐ ܕܗܘܐ ܦܬܓܡܟ ܢܩܪܝܟ
nqryk pthgmk dhw' dm' shmk mnw dmry' lml'kh mnwkh w'mr
Manoah said to Yahweh’s angel, “What is your name, that when your words happen, we may honor you?”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܢܐ ܫܐܠ ܐܢܬ ܥܠ ܫܡܝ ܕܗܘ ܡܫܒܚ
mshbkh dhw shmy el 'nth sh'l lmn' dmry' ml'kh lh w'mr
Yahweh’s angel said to him, “Why do you ask about my name, since it is incomprehensible ?”

ܘܢܣܒ ܡܢܘܚ ܓܕܝܐ ܕܥ̈ܙܐ ܘܣܡܝܕܐ ܘܐܣܩ ܥܠ ܟܐܦܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܡܫܒܚ ܗܘܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܡܢܘܚ ܘܐܢܬܬܗ ܚܙܝܢ ܗܘܘ
hww khzyn w'nththh wmnwkh lmry' hw' wmshbkh lmry' k'p' el w'sq wsmyd' dez' gdy' mnwkh wnsb
So Manoah took the young goat with the meal offering, and offered it on the rock to Yahweh. Then the angel did an amazing thing as Manoah and his wife watched.

ܟܕ ܣܠܩܬ ܫܠܗܒܝܬܐ ܕܢܘܪܐ ܡܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܠܫܡܝܐ ܘܣܠܩ ܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܒܫܠܗܒܝܬܐ ܕܡܕܒܚܐ ܘܡܢܘܚ ܘܐܢܬܬܗ ܚܙܘ ܘܢܦܠܘ ܥܠ ܐ̈ܦܝܗܘܢ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܣܓܕܘ
wsgdw 're' el 'pyhwn el wnplw khzw w'nththh wmnwkh dmdbkh' bshlhbyth' dmry' ml'kh wslq lshmy' k'p' mn dnwr' shlhbyth' slqth kd
For when the flame went up toward the sky from off the altar, Yahweh’s angel ascended in the flame of the altar. Manoah and his wife watched; and they fell on their faces to the ground.

ܘܠܐ ܐܘܣܦ ܬܘܒ ܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܬܚܙܝܘ ܠܡܢܘܚ ܘܠܐܢܬܬܗ ܘܗܝܕܝܢ ܐܝܕܥܘ ܡܢܘܚ ܘܐܢܬܬܗ ܕܡܠܐܟܗ ܗܘ ܕܡܪܝܐ
dmry' hw dml'kh w'nththh mnwkh 'ydew whydyn wl'nththh lmnwkh lmthkhzyw dmry' ml'kh thwb 'wsp wl'
But Yahweh’s angel didn’t appear to Manoah or to his wife any more. Then Manoah knew that he was Yahweh’s angel.

ܘܐܡܪ ܡܢܘܚ ܠܐܢܬܬܗ ܡܡܬ ܡܝܬܝܢ ܚܢܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐܠܗܐ ܚܙܝܢ
khzyn dl'lh' mTl khnn mythyn mmth l'nththh mnwkh w'mr
Manoah said to his wife, “We shall surely die, because we have seen God.”

ܘܐܡܪܬ ܠܗ ܐܢܬܬܗ ܐܠܘ ܨܒܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܢܡܝܬܢ ܠܐ ܡܩܒܠ ܗܘܐ ܡܢܢ ܥܠܬܐ ܘܣܡܝܕܐ ܘܠܐ ܡܚܘܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܟܘܠܗܝܢ ܒܗܢܐ ܙܒܢܐ ܘܠܐ ܡܫܡܥ ܗܘܐ ܠܢ ܗܠܝܢ
hlyn ln hw' mshme wl' zbn' bhn' kwlhyn hlyn ln hw' mkhw' wl' wsmyd' elth' mnn hw' mqbl l' dnmythn 'lh' hw' tsb' 'lw 'nththh lh w'mrth
But his wife said to him, “If Yahweh were pleased to kill us, he wouldn’t have received a burnt offering and a meal offering at our hand, and he wouldn’t have shown us all these things, nor would he have told us such things as these at this time.”

ܘܝܠܕܬ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܒܪܐ ܘܩܪܬ ܫܡܗ ܫܡܫܘܢ ܘܪܒܐ ܛܠܝܐ ܘܒܪܟܗ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' wbrkh Tly' wrb' shmshwn shmh wqrth br' 'nthth' wyldth
The woman bore a son and named him Samson. The child grew, and Yahweh blessed him.

ܘܫܪܝܬ ܪܘܚܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܗܠܟܘܬܗ ܒܡܫܪܝܬܐ ܕܕܢ ܒܝܬ ܨܕܥܐ ܘܒܝܬ ܐܫܬܘܐܝܠ
'shthw'yl wbyth tsde' byth ddn bmshryth' lmhlkwthh dmry' rwkhh wshryth
Yahweh’s Spirit began to move him in Mahaneh Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.
