ܘܩܥܘ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܕܐܦܪܝܡ ܘܥܒܪܘ ܠܓܪܒܝܐ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܢܦܬܚ ܠܡܢܐ ܥܒܪܬ ܠܡܬܟܬܫܘ ܥܡ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܥܡܘܢ ܘܠܢ ܠܐ ܩܪܝܬ ܠܡܐܙܠ ܥܡܟ ܒܝܬܟ ܡܘܩܕܝܢܢ ܥܠܝܟ ܒܢܘܪܐ
bnwr' elyk mwqdynn bythk emk lm'zl qryth l' wln emwn bny em lmthkthshw ebrth lmn' lnpthkh w'mrw lgrby' webrw d'prym gbr' wqew
The men of Ephraim were gathered together, and passed northward; and they said to Jephthah, “Why did you pass over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didn’t call us to go with you? We will burn your house around you with fire!”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܢܦܬܚ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܢܨܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܐܢܐ ܘܥܡܝ ܥܡ ܒ̈ܢܝ ܥܡܘܢ ܘܩܪܝܬܟܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܦܪܩܬܘܢܢܝ ܡܢ ܐ̈ܝܕܝܗܘܢ
'ydyhwn mn prqthwnny wl' wqrythkwn emwn bny em wemy 'n' hwyth nts' gbr' npthkh lhwn w'mr
Jephthah said to them, “I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, you didn’t save me out of their hand.

ܘܟܕ ܚܙܝܬ ܕܠܝܬ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܦܪܩ ܠܝ ܣܡܬ ܢܦܫܝ ܒܙܘܪ̈ܝ ܘܥܒܪܢ ܥܠ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܥܡܘܢ ܘܐܫܠܡ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܒܐ̈ܝܕܝ ܘܗܫܐ ܠܡܢܐ ܣܠܩܬܘܢ ܥܠܝ ܝܘܡܢܐ ܕܬܬܟܬܫܘܢ ܥܡܝ

When I saw that you didn’t save me, I put my life in my hand, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and Yahweh delivered them into my hand. Why then have you come up to me today, to fight against me?”

ܘܟܢܫ ܢܦܬܚ ܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܓܠܥܕ ܘܐܬܟܬܫ ܥܡ ܐܦܪܝܡ ܘܡܚܘ ܐܢܫ̈ܝ ܓܠܥܕ ܠܐ̈ܢܫܝ ܐܦܪܝܡ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܡܪ̈ܝܢ ܕܐܦܪ̈ܡܝܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܒܝܬ ܐܦܪܝܡ ܘܡܢܫܐ

Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim. The men of Gilead struck Ephraim, because they said, “You are fugitives of Ephraim, you Gileadites, in the middle of Ephraim, and in the middle of Manasseh.”

ܘܐܚܕܘ ܓܠܥܕ̈ܝܐ ܠܡܥܒܪܬܐ ܕܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܕܐܦܪܝܡ ܘܡܐ ܕܥܒܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܡܥܒܪܬܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܬܦܠܛܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܡܢ ܐܦܪܝܡ ܠܡܥܒܪ ܡܫܐܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܐܢܫ̈ܝ ܓܠܥܕ ܐܦܪܡܝܐ ܐܢܬ

The Gileadites took the fords of the Jordan against the Ephraimites. Whenever a fugitive of Ephraim said, “Let me go over,” the men of Gilead said to him, “Are you an Ephraimite?” If he said, “No;”

ܐܡ̇ܪ ܠܐ ܐܡܪ̈ܝܢ ܠܗ ܐܡܪ ܫܒ̈ܠܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܣܒ̈ܠܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܓܝܪ ܡܫܟܚ ܗܘܐ ܠܡܡܠܠܘ ܗܟܢܐ ܘܐܥܒܪܘܗܝ ܘܢܟܣܘܗܝ ܥܠ ܡܥܒܪܬܐ ܕܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܘܢܦܠܘ ܒܙܒܢܐ ܗܘ ܡܢ ܐܦܪܝܡ ܐܪ̈ܒܥܝܢ ܘܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܐ̈ܠܦܝܢ
'lpyn wthryn 'rbeyn 'prym mn hw bzbn' wnplw dywrdnn mebrth' el wnkswhy w'ebrwhy hkn' lmmllw hw' mshkkh gyr dl' mTl sbl' 'mr shbl' 'mr lh 'mryn l' 'mr
then they said to him, “Now say ‘Shibboleth;’” and he said “Sibboleth”; for he couldn’t manage to pronounce it correctly, then they seized him and killed him at the fords of the Jordan. At that time, forty-two thousand of Ephraim fell.

ܘܕܢ ܢܦܬܚ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܫܬ ܫܢܝ̈ܢ ܘܡܝܬ ܢܦܬܚ ܓܠܥܕܝܐ ܘܐܬܩܒܪ ܒܩܪܝܬܐ ܕܓܠܥܕ

Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then Jephthah the Gileadite died, and was buried in the cities of Gilead.

ܘܕܢ ܡܢ ܒܬܪܗ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܒܝܨܢ ܕܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܠܚܡ

After him Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel.

ܘܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܬܠܬܝܢ ܒܢܝ̈ܢ ܘܬܠܬܝܢ ܒܢ̈ܢ ܘܬܠܬܝܢ ܒܢ̈ܬܗ ܐܦܩ ܠܒܪ ܘܬܠܬܝܢ ܟ̈ܠܠܢ ܐܥܠ ܡܢ ܠܒܪ ܘܕܢ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܫܒܥ ܫܢ̈ܝܢ
shnyn shbe l'ysryl wdn lbr mn 'el klln wthlthyn lbr 'pq bnthh wthlthyn bnn wthlthyn bnyn thlthyn lh whww
He had thirty sons. He sent his thirty daughters outside his clan, and he brought in thirty daughters from outside his clan for his sons. He judged Israel seven years.

ܘܡܝܬ ܐܒܝܨܢ ܘܐܬܩܒܪ ܒܝܬ ܠܚܡ
lkhm byth w'thqbr 'bytsn wmyth
Ibzan died, and was buried at Bethlehem.

ܘܕܢ ܡܢ ܒܬܪܗ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܠܘܢ ܕܡܢ ܙܒܘܠܘܢ ܥܣܪ ܫܢܝ̈ܢ
shnyn esr zbwlwn dmn 'lwn l'ysryl bthrh mn wdn
After him, Elon the Zebulunite judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years.

ܘܡܝܬ ܐܠܘܢ ܕܡܢ ܙܒܘܠܘܢ ܘܐܬܩܒܪ ܒܐܝܠܘܢ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܕܙܒܘܠܘܢ
dzbwlwn b're' b'ylwn w'thqbr zbwlwn dmn 'lwn wmyth
Elon the Zebulunite died, and was buried in Aijalon in the land of Zebulun.

ܘܕܢ ܡܢ ܒܬܪܗ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܥܟܪܢ ܒܪ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܦܪܥܬܘܢܝܐ
'prethwny' hlyn br ekrn l'ysryl bthrh mn wdn
After him, Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite judged Israel.

ܘܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܐܪ̈ܒܥܝܢ ܒܢܝ̈ܢ ܘܬܠܬܝܢ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܒܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܘܗܘܘ ܪ̈ܟܝܒܝܢ ܥܠ ܫܒܥܝܢ ܥ̈ܝܠܝܢ ܘܕܢ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܬܡܢܐ ܫܢ̈ܝܢ

He had forty sons and thirty sons’ sons who rode on seventy donkey colts. He judged Israel eight years.

ܘܡܝܬ ܥܟܪܢ ܒܪ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܦܪܥܬܘܢܝܐ ܘܐܬܩܒܪ ܒܐܦܪܥܬܘܢ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܕܐܦܪܝܡ ܒܛܘܪܐ ܕܥܡ̈ܠܩܝܐ
demlqy' bTwr' d'prym b're' b'prethwn w'thqbr 'prethwny' hlyn br ekrn wmyth
Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the hill country of the Amalekites.
