Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the children of Israel. No one went out, and no one came in.

ܘܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܚܙܝ ܕܐܫ̇ܠܡܬ ܒܐ̈ܝܕܝܟ ܠܐܝܪܝܚܘ ܘܠܡܠܟܗ̇ ܘܠܟܠܗ ܚܝܠܗ̇
khylh wlklh wlmlkh l'yrykhw b'ydyk d'shlmth khzy lyshwe mry' w'mr
Yahweh said to Joshua, “Behold, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and the mighty men of valor.

ܚܘܕܪܘܗ̇ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܥ̇ܒ̈ܕܝ ܩܪܒܐ ܘܐܬܟܪܟܘܗ̇ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܙܒܢܬܐ ܚܕܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܚܕ ܗܟܢܐ ܥܒܕܘ ܫܬܐ ܝܘܡ̈ܝܢ
ywmyn shth' ebdw hkn' khd bywm' khd' zbnth' lmdynth' w'thkrkwh qrb' ebdy gbr' klhwn lmdynth' khwdrwh
All of your men of war shall march around the city, going around the city once. You shall do this six days.

ܘܫܒܥܐ ܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܢܫܩܠܘܢ ܩܪ̈ܢܬܐ ܘܢܝܒܒܘܢ ܩܕܡ ܩܒܘܬܐ ܘܠܝܘܡܐ ܕܫܒܥܐ ܐܬܟܪܟܘܗ̇ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܫܒܥ ܙܒܢܝ̈ܢ ܘܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܢܩܪܘܢ ܒܩܪ̈ܢܬܐ
bqrnth' nqrwn wkhn' zbnyn shbe lmdynth' 'thkrkwh dshbe' wlywm' qbwth' qdm wnybbwn qrnth' nshqlwn khn' wshbe'
Seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. On the seventh day, you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.

ܘܡܐ ܕܝܒܒܘ ܒܩܪ̈ܢܬܐ ܘܫܡܥܬܘܢ ܩܠܐ ܕܩܪܢܐ ܢܩܥܘܢ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܩܥܬܐ ܪܒܬܐ ܘܢܦܠ ܫܘܪܐ ܕܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܥܠ ܕܘܟܬܗ ܘܢܣܩܘܢ ܥܡܐ ܐܢܫ ܠܩܘܒܠܗ
lqwblh 'nsh em' wnsqwn dwkthh el dmdynth' shwr' wnpl rbth' qeth' em' klh nqewn dqrn' ql' wshmethwn bqrnth' dybbw wm'
It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the city wall will fall down flat, and the people shall go up, every man straight in front of him.”

ܘܩܪܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܒܪܢܘܢ ܠܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܫܩܘܠܘ ܩܒܘܬܐ ܕܕܝܬܩܐ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܫܒܥܐ ܟܗ̈ܢܝܢ ܢܫܩܠܘܢ ܫܒܥ ܩܪ̈ܢܢ ܘܢܝܒܒܘܢ ܩܕܡ ܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ

Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before Yahweh’s ark.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܥܡܐ ܥܒܪܘ ܘܐܬܟܪܟܘ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܙܝܢܝܢ ܢܥܒܪܘܢ ܩܕܡ ܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ
dmry' qbwthh qdm nebrwn dmzynyn w'ylyn lmdynth' w'thkrkw ebrw lem' w'mr
They said to the people, “Advance! March around the city, and let the armed men pass on before Yahweh’s ark.”

ܘܐܝܟ ܕܐܡܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܥܡܐ ܫܒܥܐ ܟܗ̈ܢܝܢ ܫܩܝܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܫܒܥ ܩܪ̈ܢܢ ܘܡܝܒܒܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܩܕܡ ܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܩ̇ܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܩܪ̈ܢܬܐ ܘܩܒܘܬܐ ܕܕܝܬܩܐ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܬܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܒܬܪܗܘܢ

It was so, that when Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before Yahweh advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of Yahweh’s covenant followed them.

ܘܕܡܙܝܢܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܐ̇ܙܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܩܕܡ ܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܕܩ̇ܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܩܪ̈ܢܬܐ ܘܕܡܟܢܫܝܢ ܐ̇ܙܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܬܪ ܩܒܘܬܐ ܘܡܗܠܟܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܘܩ̇ܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܩܪ̈ܢܬܐ

The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the ark went after them. The trumpets sounded as they went.

ܘܠܥܡܐ ܦܩܕ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܐ ܬܩܥܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܬܫܡܥܘܢ ܩܠܟܘܢ ܘܡܠܐ ܠܐ ܬܦܘܩ ܡܢ ܦܘܡܟܘܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܩܥܘ ܘܗܝܕܝܢ ܬܩܥܘܢ
thqewn whydyn dqew lkwn d'mr lywm' edm' pwmkwn mn thpwq l' wml' qlkwn thshmewn wl' thqewn l' w'mr yshwe pqd wlem'
Joshua commanded the people, saying, “You shall not shout nor let your voice be heard, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth until the day I tell you to shout. Then you shall shout.”

ܘܐܬܟܪܟܬ ܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܙܒܢܬܐ ܚܕܐ ܘܐܬܘ ܠܡܫܪܝܬܐ ܘܒܬܘ ܒܡܫܪܝܬܐ
bmshryth' wbthw lmshryth' w'thw khd' zbnth' lmdynth' dmry' qbwthh w'thkrkth
So he caused Yahweh’s ark to go around the city, circling it once. Then they came into the camp, and stayed in the camp.

ܘܩܕܡ ܝܫܘܥ ܒܫܦܪܐ ܘܫܩܠܘ ܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ

Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up Yahweh’s ark.

ܘܫܒܥܐ ܟܗ̈ܢܝܢ ܫܩܝܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܫܒܥ ܩܪ̈ܢܢ ܘܐ̇ܙܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܩܕܡ ܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܡܗܠܟܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܘܩ̇ܪܝܢ ܒܩܪ̈ܢܬܐ ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܙܝܢܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܐ̇ܙܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܩܕܡܝܗܘܢ ܘܕܡܟܢܫܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܐ̇ܙܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܬܪ ܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܩ̇ܪܝܢ ܒܩܪ̈ܢܬܐ

The seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns in front of Yahweh’s ark went on continually, and blew the trumpets. The armed men went in front of them. The rear guard came after Yahweh’s ark. The trumpets sounded as they went.

ܘܐܬܟܪܟܘܗ̇ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܗ̇ܝ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܙܒܢܬܐ ܚܕܐ ܘܗܦܟܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܡܫܪܝܬܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܥ̇ܒܕܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܫܬܬܝܗܘܢ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ

The second day they marched around the city once, and returned into the camp. They did this six days.

ܘܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܫܒܥܐ ܩܕܡܘ ܒܫܦܪܐ ܘܐܬܟܪܟܘܗ̇ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܗܢܐ ܫܒܥ ܙܒܢܝ̈ܢ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܕܝܢ ܒܗ ܒܗ̇ܘ ܝܘܡܐ ܐܬܟܪܟܘܗ̇ ܫܒܥ ܙܒܢܝ̈ܢ
zbnyn shbe 'thkrkwh ywm' bhw bh dyn blkhwd zbnyn shbe hn' nmws' 'yk lmdynth' w'thkrkwh bshpr' qdmw dshbe' wbywm'
On the seventh day, they rose early at the dawning of the day, and marched around the city in the same way seven times. On this day only they marched around the city seven times.

ܘܒܙܒܢܬܐ ܗ̇ܝ ܕܫܒܥ ܩܪܘ ܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܒܩܪ̈ܢܬܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܥܡܐ ܩܥܘ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܫܠܡܗ̇ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ
lmdynth' mry' lkwn d'shlmh mTl qew lem' yshwe w'mr bqrnth' khn' qrw dshbe hy wbzbnth'
At the seventh time, when the priests blew the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, “Shout, for Yahweh has given you the city!

ܘܬܗܘܐ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܘܟܠ ܕܐܝܬ ܒܗ̇ ܚܪܡܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܠܪܚܒ ܙܢܝܬܐ ܐܚܘ ܠܗ̇ ܘܠܟܠ ܕܐܝܬ ܥܡܗ̇ ܒܒܝܬܐ ܡܛܘܠ ܕܛܫܝܬ ܠܗ̇ܢܘܢ ܓܫܘ̈ܫܐ ܕܫܕܪܢ
dshdrn gshwsh' lhnwn dTshyth mTwl bbyth' emh d'yth wlkl lh 'khw znyth' lrkhb blkhwd lmry' khrm' bh d'yth wkl hd' mdynth' wthhw'
The city shall be devoted, even it and all that is in it, to Yahweh. Only Rahab the prostitute shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܙܗܝܪܝܢ ܡܢ ܚܪܡܐ ܕܠܐ ܬܛܫܘܢ ܘܬܣܒܘܢ ܡܢ ܚܪܡܐ ܘܬܥܒܕܘܢܗ̇ ܠܡܫܪܝܬܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܚܪܡܐ ܘܬܕܠܚܘܢܗ̇
wthdlkhwnh khrm' d'ysryl lmshryth' wthebdwnh khrm' mn wthsbwn thTshwn dl' khrm' mn zhyryn hwythwn dyn 'nthwn
But as for you, only keep yourselves from what is devoted to destruction, lest when you have devoted it, you take of the devoted thing; so you would make the camp of Israel accursed and trouble it.

ܟܠ ܣܐܡܐ ܘܕܗܒܐ ܘܡܐ̈ܢܐ ܕܢܚܫܐ ܘܕܦܪܙܠܐ ܩܕܝܫܝܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܠܒܝܬ ܓܙܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܢܥܠܘܢ
nelwn dmry' gzh lbyth lmry' 'nwn qdyshyn wdprzl' dnkhsh' wm'n' wdhb' s'm' kl
But all the silver, gold, and vessels of bronze and iron are holy to Yahweh. They shall come into Yahweh’s treasury.”

ܘܩܥܐ ܥܡܐ ܘܩܪܘ ܒܩܪ̈ܢܬܐ ܘܟܕ ܫܡܥܘ ܥܡܐ ܩܠܐ ܕܩܪ̈ܢܬܐ ܩܥܐ ܥܡܐ ܩܥܬܐ ܪܒܬܐ ܕܛܒ ܘܢܦܠ ܫܘܪܐ ܥܠ ܕܘܟܬܗ ܘܣܠܩܘ ܥܡܐ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܐܢܫ ܠܩܘܒܠܗ ܘܟܒܫܘܗ̇ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ

So the people shouted and the priests blew the trumpets. When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight in front of him, and they took the city.

ܘܚܪܒܘ ܠܟܠ ܕܐܝܬ ܒܗ̇ ܡܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܢܫ̈ܐ ܘܡܢ ܛ̈ܠܝܐ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܩܫܝܫ̈ܐ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܬܘܪ̈ܐ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܥܢܐ ܘܠܚܡܪ̈ܐ ܚܪܒܘ ܒܦܘܡܐ ܕܣܝܦܐ

They utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, both young and old, and ox, sheep, and donkey, with the edge of the sword.

ܘܠܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܗ̇ܢܘܢ ܕܓܫܘܗ̇ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܐܡܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܥܘܠܘ ܠܒܝܬ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܗ̇ܝ ܙܢܝܬܐ ܘܐܦܩܘܗ̇ ܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܠܗ̇ ܠܐܢܬܬܐ ܘܠܟܠ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗ̇ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܝܡܝܬܘܢ ܠܗ̇

Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, “Go into the prostitute’s house, and bring the woman and all that she has out from there, as you swore to her.”

ܘܐܙܠܘ ܓܫܘ̈ܫܐ ܘܐܦܩܘܗ̇ ܠܪܚܒ ܘܠܐܒܘܗ̇ ܘܠܐܡܗ̇ ܘܠܐ̈ܚܝܗ̇ ܘܠܟܠ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗ̇ ܘܠܟܠܗ̇ ܫܪܒܬܗ̇ ܐܦܩܘ ܘܐܫܪܝܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܒܪ ܡܢ ܡܫܪܝܬܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ

The young men who were spies went in, and brought out Rahab with her father, her mother, her brothers, and all that she had. They also brought out all of her relatives, and they set them outside of the camp of Israel.

ܘܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܐܘܩܕܘܗ̇ ܒܢܘܪܐ ܘܠܟܠ ܕܐܝܬ ܒܗ̇ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܠܕܗܒܐ ܘܠܣܐܡܐ ܘܠܡܐ̈ܢܐ ܕܢܚܫܐ ܘܕܦܪܙܠܐ ܐܝܬܝܘ ܠܒܝܬ ܓܙܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ
dmry' gzh lbyth 'ythyw wdprzl' dnkhsh' wlm'n' wls'm' ldhb' blkhwd bh d'yth wlkl bnwr' 'wqdwh wlmdynth'
They burned the city with fire, and all that was in it. Only they put the silver, the gold, and the vessels of bronze and of iron into the treasury of Yahweh’s house.

ܘܠܪܚܒ ܙܢܝܬܐ ܘܠܒܝܬ ܐܒܘܗ̇ ܘܠܟܠ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗ̇ ܐܚܝ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܝܬܒܬ ܒܓܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܢܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܛܫܝܬ ܓܫܘ̈ܫܐ ܕܫܕܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܡܓܫ ܠܐܝܪܝܚܘ
l'yrykhw lmgsh yshwe dshdr gshwsh' dTshyth mTl lywmn' edm' 'ysryl bny bgw wythbth yshwe 'khy lh d'yth wlkl 'bwh wlbyth znyth' wlrkhb
But Rahab the prostitute, her father’s household, and all that she had, Joshua saved alive. She lives in the middle of Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

ܘܐܝܡܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܒܙܒܢܐ ܗ̇ܘ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܝܛ ܗܘ ܓܒܪܐ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܕܢܩܘܡ ܘܢܒܢܝܗ̇ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܐܝܪܝܚܘ ܒܒܘܟܪܗ ܢܒܢܝܗ̇ ܘܒܙܥܘܪܗ ܢܩܝܡ ܬܪ̈ܥܝܗ̇

Joshua commanded them with an oath at that time, saying, “Cursed is the man before Yahweh who rises up and builds this city Jericho. With the loss of his firstborn he will lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he will set up its gates.”

ܘܗܘܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܡ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܫܡܥܗ ܐ̇ܙܠ ܗܘܐ ܒܟܠܗ̇ ܐܪܥܐ

So Yahweh was with Joshua; and his fame was in all the land.
