והוה כד שמעו כל מלכי אמוראי די בעברא דירדנא מערבא וכל מלכי כנענאה די על ימא ית דיבש יי ית מי ירדנא מן קדם בני ישראל עד דעברו ואתמסי לבהון ולא אשתארת בהון עוד רוח מן קדם בני ישראל:
yshral bny qdm mn rwkh ewd bhwn ashtharth wla lbhwn wathmsy debrw ed yshral bny qdm mn yrdna my yth yy dybsh yth yma el dy knenah mlky wkl merba dyrdna bebra dy amwray mlky kl shmew kd whwh
When all the kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, who were by the sea, heard how Yahweh had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel until we had crossed over, their heart melted, and there was no more spirit in them, because of the children of Israel.

בעידנא ההיא אמר יי ליהושע עבד לך אזמלון חריפין ותוב גזר ית בני ישראל תנינות:
thnynwth yshral bny yth gzr wthwb khrypyn azmlwn lk ebd lyhwshe yy amr hhya beydna
At that time, Yahweh said to Joshua, “Make flint knives, and circumcise again the sons of Israel the second time.”

ועבד ליה יהושע אזמלון חריפין וגזר ית בני ישראל בגבעתא וקרא ליה גבעת ערלתא:
erltha gbeth lyh wqra bgbetha yshral bny yth wgzr khrypyn azmlwn yhwshe lyh webd
Joshua made himself flint knives, and circumcised the sons of Israel at the hill of the foreskins.

ודין פתגמא די גזר יהושע כל עמא דנפק ממצרים דכריא כל גברי מגיחי קרבא מיתו במדברא באורחא במפקהון ממצרים:
mmtsrym bmpqhwn bawrkha bmdbra mythw qrba mgykhy gbry kl dkrya mmtsrym dnpq ema kl yhwshe gzr dy pthgma wdyn
This is the reason Joshua circumcised them: all the people who came out of Egypt, who were males, even all the men of war, died in the wilderness along the way, after they came out of Egypt.

ארי גזירין הוו כל עמא די נפקו וכל עמא דאתילידו במדברא בארחא במפקהון ממצרים לא גזרו:
gzrw la mmtsrym bmpqhwn barkha bmdbra dathylydw ema wkl npqw dy ema kl hww gzyryn ary
For all the people who came out were circumcised; but all the people who were born in the wilderness along the way as they came out of Egypt had not been circumcised.

ארי ארבעין שנין הליכו בני ישראל במדברא עד דסף כל עמא גברי מגיחי קרבא דנפקו ממצרים דלא קבילו למימרא דיי דקים יי להון בדיל דלא לאחזיותהון ית ארעא דקים יי לאבהתהון למתן לנא ארעא עבדא חלב ודבש:
wdbsh khlb ebda area lna lmthn labhthhwn yy dqym area yth lakhzywthhwn dla bdyl lhwn yy dqym dyy lmymra qbylw dla mmtsrym dnpqw qrba mgykhy gbry ema kl dsp ed bmdbra yshral bny hlykw shnyn arbeyn ary
For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness until all the nation, even the men of war who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they didn’t listen to Yahweh’s voice. Yahweh swore to them that he wouldn’t let them see the land which Yahweh swore to their fathers that he would give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.

וית בניהון דקמו בתריהון יתהון גזר יהושע ארי ערלין הוו ארי לא גזרו יתהון בארחא:
barkha ythhwn gzrw la ary hww erlyn ary yhwshe gzr ythhwn bthryhwn dqmw bnyhwn wyth
Their children, whom he raised up in their place, were circumcised by Joshua, for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them on the way.

והוה כד שלימו כל עמא למגזר ויתבו באתריהון במשריתא עד דאתסיאו:
dathsyaw ed bmshrytha bathryhwn wythbw lmgzr ema kl shlymw kd whwh
When they were done circumcising the whole nation, they stayed in their places in the camp until they were healed.

ואמר יי ליהושע יומא דין אעדית ית חיסודי מצראי מן קדמיכון וקרא שמא דאתרא ההוא גלגלא עד יומא הדין:
hdyn ywma ed glgla hhwa dathra shma wqra qdmykwn mn mtsray khyswdy yth aedyth dyn ywma lyhwshe yy wamr
Yahweh said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you.” Therefore the name of that place was called Gilgal to this day.

ושרו בני ישראל בגלגלא ועבדו ית פסחא בארבעת עשרא יומא לירחא ברמשא במישרי יריחו:
yrykhw bmyshry brmsha lyrkha ywma eshra barbeth pskha yth webdw bglgla yshral bny wshrw
The children of Israel encamped in Gilgal. They kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at evening in the plains of Jericho.

ואכלו מעבורא דארעא מבתר פסחא פטיר וקלי בכרן יומא הדין:
hdyn ywma bkrn wqly pTyr pskha mbthr darea mebwra waklw
They ate unleavened cakes and parched grain of the produce of the land on the next day after the Passover, in the same day.

ופסק מנא מיומא דבתרוהי במיכלהון מעיבורא דארעא ולא הוה עוד לבני ישראל מנא ואכלו מעללת ארעא דכנען בשתא ההיא:
hhya bshtha dknen area mellth waklw mna yshral lbny ewd hwh wla darea meybwra bmyklhwn dbthrwhy mywma mna wpsq
The manna ceased on the next day, after they had eaten of the produce of the land. The children of Israel didn’t have manna any more, but they ate of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.

והוה כד הוה יהושע ביריחו וזקף עינוהי וחזא והא גברא קאים לקבליה וחרביה שליפא בידיה ואזל יהושע לותיה ואמר ליה הלמסעדנא אתיתא אם לבעלי דבבנא:
dbbna lbely am athytha hlmsedna lyh wamr lwthyh yhwshe wazl bydyh shlypa wkhrbyh lqblyh qaym gbra wha wkhza eynwhy wzqp byrykhw yhwshe hwh kd whwh
When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man stood in front of him with his sword drawn in his hand. Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our enemies?”

ואמר לא ארי אנא מלאך שליח מן קדם יי כען אתיתי ונפל יהושע על אפוהי על ארעא וסגיד ואמר ליה מה רבוני ממליל עם עבדיה:
ebdyh em mmlyl rbwny mh lyh wamr wsgyd area el apwhy el yhwshe wnpl athythy ken yy qdm mn shlykh mlak ana ary la wamr
He said, “No; but I have come now as commander of Yahweh’s army.” Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and worshiped, and asked him, “What does my lord say to his servant?”

ואמר מלאכה דשליח מן קדם יי ליהושע שרי סינך מעל רגלך ארי אתרא די את קאים עלוהי קדישא הוא ועבד יהושע כן:
kn yhwshe webd hwa qdysha elwhy qaym ath dy athra ary rglk mel synk shry lyhwshe yy qdm mn dshlykh mlakh wamr
The prince of Yahweh’s army said to Joshua, “Take off your sandals, for the place on which you stand is holy.” Joshua did so.
