ܘܟܕ ܫܠܡܘ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܠܡܥܒܪ ܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܝܫܘܥ

When all the nation had completely crossed over the Jordan, Yahweh spoke to Joshua, saying,

ܕܒܪܘ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܥܡܐ ܬܪܥܣܪ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܚܕ ܚܕ ܓܒܪܐ ܡܢ ܫܒܛܐ
shbT' mn gbr' khd khd gbryn thresr em' mn lkwn dbrw
“Take twelve men out of the people, a man out of every tribe,

ܘܦܩܕ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܣܒܘ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܟܐ ܡܢ ܓܘ ܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܡܢ ܬܚܝܬ ܪ̈ܓܠܝܗܘܢ ܕܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܛܝܒܘ ܬܪ̈ܬܥܣܪܐ ܟܐ̈ܦܝܢ ܘܐܥܒܪܘ ܐܢܝ̈ܢ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܘܣܝܡܘ ܐܢܝ̈ܢ ܒܝܬ ܒܘܬܐ ܕܒ̇ܝܬܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܗ ܒܠܠܝܐ
blly' bh 'nthwn dbythyn bwth' byth 'nyn wsymw emkwn 'nyn w'ebrw k'pyn thrthesr' Tybw dkhn' rglyhwn thkhyth mn ywrdnn gw mn mk' lkwn sbw lhwn w'mr 'nwn wpqd
and command them, saying, ‘Take from out of the middle of the Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones, carry them over with you, and lay them down in the place where you’ll camp tonight.’”

ܘܩܪܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܬܪܥܣܪ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܗ̇ܢܘܢ ܕܛܝܒܘ ܡܢ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܚܕ ܚܕ ܓܒܪܐ ܡܢ ܫܒܛܐ

Then Joshua called the twelve men whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, a man out of every tribe.

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܥܒܪܘ ܩܕܡ ܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟܘܢ ܒܓܘ ܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܘܣܝܡܘ ܓܒܪ ܟܐܦܗ ܥܠ ܟܬܦܗ ܒܡܢܝܢܐ ܕܫܒ̈ܛܐ ܕܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ
'ysryl dbny dshbT' bmnyn' kthph el k'ph gbr wsymw ywrdnn bgw 'lhkwn dmry' qbwthh qdm ebrw yshwe lhwn w'mr
Joshua said to them, “Cross before the ark of Yahweh your God into the middle of the Jordan, and each of you pick up a stone and put it on your shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel;

ܡܛܠ ܕܬܗܘܐ ܐܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܒܝܢܬܟܘܢ ܕܟܕ ܢܫܐܠܘܢܟܘܢ ܒܢ̈ܝܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܡܚܪ ܘܢܐܡܪܘܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܢܐ ܐܢܝ̈ܢ ܟܐ̈ܦܐ ܗܠܝܢ
hlyn k'p' 'nyn mn' lkwn wn'mrwn mkhr mn bnykwn nsh'lwnkwn dkd bynthkwn hd' 'th' dthhw' mTl
that this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask in the future, saying, ‘What do you mean by these stones?’

ܐܡܪܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܐܬܦܠܓܘ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܕܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܩܒܘܬܐ ܕܕܝܬܝܩܐ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܟܕ ܥܒܪܢ ܒܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܐܬܦܠܓܘ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܕܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܘܗ̈ܘܝ ܗܠܝܢ ܟܐ̈ܦܐ ܕܘܟܪܢܐ ܠܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܥܠܡ
lelm 'ysryl lbny dwkrn' k'p' hlyn whwy dywrdnn my' 'thplgw bywrdnn ebrn kd dmry' ddythyq' qbwth' qdm mn dywrdnn my' d'thplgw lhwn 'mrw
then you shall tell them, ‘Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of Yahweh’s covenant. When it crossed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Israel forever.’”

ܘܥܒܕܘ ܗܟܢܐ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܐܝܠ ܐܝܟ ܕܦܩܕ ܐܢܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܫܩܠܘ ܬܪ̈ܬܥܣܪܐ ܟܐ̈ܦܝܢ ܡܢ ܓܘ ܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܒܡܢܝܢܐ ܕܫܒ̈ܛܐ ܕܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܥܒܪܘ ܐܢܝ̈ܢ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܠܒܝܬ ܒܘܬܐ ܘܫܒܩܘ ܐܢܝ̈ܢ ܬܡܢ
thmn 'nyn wshbqw bwth' lbyth emhwn 'nyn w'ebrw 'ysryl dbny dshbT' bmnyn' lyshwe mry' d'mr 'yk ywrdnn gw mn k'pyn thrthesr' wshqlw yshwe 'nwn dpqd 'yk 'ysr'yl bny hkn' webdw
The children of Israel did as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the middle of the Jordan, as Yahweh spoke to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel. They carried them over with them to the place where they camped, and laid them down there.

ܘܬܪ̈ܬܥܣܪܐ ܟܐ̈ܦܝܢ ܐܩܝܡܘ ܕܢܣܒܘ ܡܢ ܓܘ ܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܡܢ ܬܚܝܬ ܪ̈ܓܠܝܗܘܢ ܕܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܕܫܩܝܠܝܢ ܩܒܘܬܐ ܕܕܝܬܩܐ ܘܗ̈ܘܝ ܬܡܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܢܐ
lywmn' edm' thmn whwy ddythq' qbwth' dshqylyn dkhn' rglyhwn thkhyth mn ywrdnn gw mn dnsbw 'qymw k'pyn wthrthesr'
Joshua set up twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant stood; and they are there to this day.

ܘܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܕܫܩܝܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܩܒܘܬܐ ܩ̇ܝܡܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܓܘ ܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܫܠܡܘ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܐ ܕܦܩܕ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܠܡܐܡܪ ܠܥܡܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܦܩܕܗ ܡܘܫܐ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܣܬܪܗܒܘ ܥܡܐ ܘܥܒܪܘ

For the priests who bore the ark stood in the middle of the Jordan until everything was finished that Yahweh commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua; and the people hurried and passed over.

ܘܟܕ ܥܒܪܘ ܟܘܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܡܫܡܠܝܐܝܬ ܘܥܒܪܬ ܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܩܕܡ ܥܡܐ

When all the people had completely crossed over, Yahweh’s ark crossed over with the priests in the presence of the people.

ܘܥܒܪܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܪܘܒܝܠ ܘܒܢ̈ܝ ܓܕ ܘܦܠܓܗ ܕܫܒܛܐ ܕܡܢܫܐ ܟܕ ܡܙܝܢܝܢ ܩܕܡ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܐܝܠ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܘܫܐ
mwsh' lhwn d'mr 'ykn' 'ysr'yl bny qdm mzynyn kd dmnsh' dshbT' wplgh gd wbny rwbyl bny webrw
The children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh crossed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spoke to them.

ܐܪܒܥܝܢ ܐ̈ܠܦܝܢ ܟܕ ܡܙܝܢܝܢ ܒܚܝܠܐ ܥܒܪܘ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܩܪܒܐ ܒܦܩܥܬܐ ܕܐܝܪܝܚܘ
d'yrykhw bpqeth' lqrb' mry' qdm ebrw bkhyl' mzynyn kd 'lpyn 'rbeyn
About forty thousand men, ready and armed for war, passed over before Yahweh to battle, to the plains of Jericho.

ܒܗ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܗ̇ܘ ܐܘܪܒ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܒܥܝܢ̈ܝ ܟܠܗ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܕܚܠܘ ܡܢܗ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܕܚ̇ܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܡܢ ܡܘܫܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܕܚܝ̈ܘܗܝ
dkhywhy ywmth' klhwn mwsh' mn hww ddkhlyn 'ykn' mnh wdkhlw 'ysryl klh beyny lyshwe mry' 'wrb hw bywm' bh
On that day, Yahweh magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.

ܘܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܝܫܘܥ
lyshwe mry' w'mr
Yahweh spoke to Joshua, saying,

ܦܩܕ ܠܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܕܫܩܝܠܝܢ ܩܒܘܬܐ ܕܣܗܕܘܬܐ ܘܢܣܩܘܢ ܡܢ ܓܘ ܝܘܪܕܢܢ
ywrdnn gw mn wnsqwn dshdwth' qbwth' dshqylyn lkhn' pqd
“Command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, that they come up out of the Jordan.”

ܘܦܩܕ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܣܩܘ ܡܢ ܓܘ ܝܘܪܕܢܢ
ywrdnn gw mn sqw lhwn w'mr lkhn' yshwe wpqd
Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, “Come up out of the Jordan!”

ܘܟܕ ܣܠܩܘ ܗܘܘ ܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܕܫܩܝܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܩܒܘܬܐ ܕܕܝܬܩܐ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܡܢ ܓܘ ܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܣܡܟ ܦܣ̈ܬܐ ܕܪ̈ܓܠܝܗܘܢ ܕܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܒܝܒܫܐ ܘܗܦܟܘ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܕܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܠܕܘܟܬܗܘܢ ܘܗܠܟܘ ܐܝܟ ܕܡܢ ܩܕܝܡ ܥܠ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܣܦܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܝܘܪܕܢܢ
dywrdnn sprwhy klhwn el qdym dmn 'yk whlkw ldwkthhwn dywrdnn my' whpkw bybsh' dkhn' drglyhwn psth' smk ywrdnn gw mn dmry' ddythq' qbwth' hww dshqylyn khn' hww slqw wkd
When the priests who bore the ark of Yahweh’s covenant had come up out of the middle of the Jordan, and the soles of the priests’ feet had been lifted up to the dry ground, the waters of the Jordan returned to their place, and went over all its banks, as before.

ܘܥܡܐ ܣܠܩܘ ܡܢ ܓܘ ܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܒܥܣܪܬܐ ܒܝܪܚܐ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܘܫܪܘ ܒܓܠܓܠܐ ܒܣ̈ܘܦܝ ܡܕܢܚܝܗ̇ ܕܐܝܪܝܚܘ
d'yrykhw mdnkhyh bswpy bglgl' wshrw qdmy' byrkh' besrth' ywrdnn gw mn slqw wem'
The people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, on the east border of Jericho.

ܘܬܪ̈ܬܥܣܪܐ ܟܐ̈ܦܝܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܢܣܒܘ ܡܢ ܓܘ ܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܐܩܝܡ ܐܢܝ̈ܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܒܓܠܓܠܐ
bglgl' yshwe 'nyn 'qym ywrdnn gw mn dnsbw hlyn k'pyn wthrthesr'
Joshua set up those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, in Gilgal.

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܟܕ ܢܫܐܠܘܢܟܘܢ ܒܢ̈ܝܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܡܚܪ ܘܢܐܡܪܘܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܢܐ ܐܢܝ̈ܢ ܟܐ̈ܦܐ ܗܠܝܢ
hlyn k'p' 'nyn mn' lkwn wn'mrwn mkhr mn bnykwn nsh'lwnkwn kd 'ysryl lbny w'mr
He spoke to the children of Israel, saying, “When your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, ‘What do these stones mean?’

ܚܘܘ ܐܢܝ̈ܢ ܠܒܢ̈ܝܟܘܢ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܒܝܒܫܐ ܥܒܪܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܗܢܐ
hn' ywrdnn 'ysryl bny ebrw dbybsh' lhwn w'mrw lbnykwn 'nyn khww
Then you shall let your children know, saying, ‘Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.

ܘܐܘܒܫ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟܘܢ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܕܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܝܗܘܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܥܒܪܘ ܐܝܟ ܕܥܒܕ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟܘܢ ܠܝܡܐ ܕܣܘܦ ܕܐܘܒܫܗ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܝܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܥܒܪܢ
debrn edm' qdmyn mn d'wbshh dswp lym' 'lhkwn mry' debd 'yk debrw edm' qdmyhwn mn dywrdnn my' 'lhkwn mry' w'wbsh
For Yahweh your God dried up the waters of the Jordan from before you until you had crossed over, as Yahweh your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up from before us, until we had crossed over,

ܕܢܕܥܘܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܐܝܕܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܕܚܝܠܬܢܝܐ ܗܝ ܘܬܕܚܠܘܢ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟܘܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ
ywmth' klhwn 'lhkwn lmry' wthdkhlwn hy dkhylthny' dmry' 'ydh d're' emm' klhwn dndewn
that all the peoples of the earth may know that Yahweh’s hand is mighty, and that you may fear Yahweh your God forever.’”
