והוה כד שלימו כל עמא למעבר ית ירדנא ואמר יי ליהושע למימר:
lmymr lyhwshe yy wamr yrdna yth lmebr ema kl shlymw kd whwh
When all the nation had completely crossed over the Jordan, Yahweh spoke to Joshua, saying,

דברו לכון מן עמא תרי עסר גברין גברא חד גברא חד משבטא:
mshbTa khd gbra khd gbra gbryn esr thry ema mn lkwn dbrw
“Take twelve men out of the people, a man out of every tribe,

ופקידו יתהון למימר טולו לכון מכא מגו ירדנא מאתר מיקם רגלי כהניא מתקניא תרתי עסרי אבניא ותעברנון יתהון עמכון ותחתון יתהון בבית מבתא דתביתון ביה בליליא:
blylya byh dthbythwn mbtha bbyth ythhwn wthkhthwn emkwn ythhwn wthebrnwn abnya esry thrthy mthqnya khnya rgly myqm mathr yrdna mgw mka lkwn Twlw lmymr ythhwn wpqydw
and command them, saying, ‘Take from out of the middle of the Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones, carry them over with you, and lay them down in the place where you’ll camp tonight.’”

וקרא יהושע לתרי עסר גברא דאתקין מבני ישראל גברא חד גברא חד משבטא:
mshbTa khd gbra khd gbra yshral mbny dathqyn gbra esr lthry yhwshe wqra
Then Joshua called the twelve men whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, a man out of every tribe.

ואמר להון יהושע עברו קדם ארונא דיי אלהכון לגו ירדנא וארימו לכון גבר אבנא חדה על כתפיה למנין שבטיא דבני ישראל:
yshral dbny shbTya lmnyn kthpyh el khdh abna gbr lkwn warymw yrdna lgw alhkwn dyy arwna qdm ebrw yhwshe lhwn wamr
Joshua said to them, “Cross before the ark of Yahweh your God into the middle of the Jordan, and each of you pick up a stone and put it on your shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel;

בדיל דתהי דא את בינכון ארי ישאלין בניכון מחר למימר מא אבניא האלין לכון:
lkwn halyn abnya ma lmymr mkhr bnykwn yshalyn ary bynkwn ath da dthhy bdyl
that this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask in the future, saying, ‘What do you mean by these stones?’

ותימרון להון די פסקו מי ירדנא מן קדם ארון קימא דיי במעבריה בירדנא פסקו מי ירדנא ויהוין אבניא האלין לדכרנא לבני ישראל עד עלמא:
elma ed yshral lbny ldkrna halyn abnya wyhwyn yrdna my psqw byrdna bmebryh dyy qyma arwn qdm mn yrdna my psqw dy lhwn wthymrwn
then you shall tell them, ‘Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of Yahweh’s covenant. When it crossed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Israel forever.’”

ועבדו כן בני ישראל כמא די פקד יהושע ונטלו תרתא עשרי אבניא מגו ירדנא כמא דמליל יי עם יהושע למנין שבטיא דבני ישראל ואעברונון עמהון לבית מבתא ואצנעונון תמן:
thmn watsnewnwn mbtha lbyth emhwn waebrwnwn yshral dbny shbTya lmnyn yhwshe em yy dmlyl kma yrdna mgw abnya eshry thrtha wnTlw yhwshe pqd dy kma yshral bny kn webdw
The children of Israel did as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the middle of the Jordan, as Yahweh spoke to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel. They carried them over with them to the place where they camped, and laid them down there.

ותרתא עשרי אבניא אקים יהושע בגו ירדנא באתר מיקם רגלי כהניא נטלי ארונא דקימא והוו תמן עד יומא הדין:
hdyn ywma ed thmn whww dqyma arwna nTly khnya rgly myqm bathr yrdna bgw yhwshe aqym abnya eshry wthrtha
Joshua set up twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant stood; and they are there to this day.

וכהניא נטלי ארונא קימין בגו ירדנא עד דשלים כל פתגמא דפקיד יי ית יהושע למללא עם עמא ככל דפקיד משה ית יהושע ואוחיאו עמא ועברו:
webrw ema wawkhyaw yhwshe yth mshh dpqyd kkl ema em lmlla yhwshe yth yy dpqyd pthgma kl dshlym ed yrdna bgw qymyn arwna nTly wkhnya
For the priests who bore the ark stood in the middle of the Jordan until everything was finished that Yahweh commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua; and the people hurried and passed over.

והוה כד שלים כל עמא למעבר ועבר ארונא דיי וכהניא קדם עמא:
ema qdm wkhnya dyy arwna webr lmebr ema kl shlym kd whwh
When all the people had completely crossed over, Yahweh’s ark crossed over with the priests in the presence of the people.

ועברו בני ראובן ובני גד ופלגות שבטא דמנשה מזרזין קדם בני ישראל כמא דמליל עמהון משה:
mshh emhwn dmlyl kma yshral bny qdm mzrzyn dmnshh shbTa wplgwth gd wbny rawbn bny webrw
The children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh crossed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spoke to them.

כארבעין אלפין מזרזי חילא עברו קדם עמא דיי לקרבא למשרי יריחו:
yrykhw lmshry lqrba dyy ema qdm ebrw khyla mzrzy alpyn karbeyn
About forty thousand men, ready and armed for war, passed over before Yahweh to battle, to the plains of Jericho.

ביומא ההוא רבי יי ית יהושע בעיני כל ישראל ודחילו מניה כמא דהוו דחלין מן משה כל יומי חיוהי:
khywhy ywmy kl mshh mn dkhlyn dhww kma mnyh wdkhylw yshral kl beyny yhwshe yth yy rby hhwa bywma
On that day, Yahweh magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.

פקיד ית כהניא נטלי ארונא דסהדותא ויסקון מן ירדנא:
yrdna mn wysqwn dshdwtha arwna nTly khnya yth pqyd
“Command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, that they come up out of the Jordan.”
17
ופקיד יהושע ית כהניה למימר סקו מן ירדנא:
yrdna mn sqw lmymr khnyh yth yhwshe wpqyd
Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, “Come up out of the Jordan!”
18
והוה כד בעו למסק כהניא נטלי ארון קימא דיי מגו ירדנא אתנגידא פרסת רגלי כהניא ונחא על יבשתא ותבו מי ירדנא לאתריהון ואזלו כמאתמלי ומדקדמוהי על כל כפוהי:
kpwhy kl el wmdqdmwhy kmathmly wazlw lathryhwn yrdna my wthbw ybshtha el wnkha khnya rgly prsth athngyda yrdna mgw dyy qyma arwn nTly khnya lmsq bew kd whwh
When the priests who bore the ark of Yahweh’s covenant had come up out of the middle of the Jordan, and the soles of the priests’ feet had been lifted up to the dry ground, the waters of the Jordan returned to their place, and went over all its banks, as before.

ועמא סליקו מן ירדנא בעשרא לירחא קדמאה ושרו בגלגלא בסיפי מדנח יריחו:
yrykhw mdnkh bsypy bglgla wshrw qdmah lyrkha beshra yrdna mn slyqw wema
The people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, on the east border of Jericho.

וית תרתא עשרי אבניא האלין דנסיבו מן ירדנא אקים יהושע בגלגלא:
bglgla yhwshe aqym yrdna mn dnsybw halyn abnya eshry thrtha wyth
Joshua set up those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, in Gilgal.
21
ואמר לבני ישראל למימר דישאלון בניכון מחר ית אבהתהון למימר מה אבניא האלין:
halyn abnya mh lmymr abhthhwn yth mkhr bnykwn dyshalwn lmymr yshral lbny wamr
He spoke to the children of Israel, saying, “When your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, ‘What do these stones mean?’

ותהודעון ית בניכון למימר ביבשתא עבר ישראל ית ירדנא הדין:
hdyn yrdna yth yshral ebr bybshtha lmymr bnykwn yth wthhwdewn
Then you shall let your children know, saying, ‘Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.
23
דיבש יי אלהכון ית מי ירדנא מן קדמיכון עד דעברתון כמא דעבד יי אלהכון לימא דסוף די יבש מן קדמנא עד דעברנא:
debrna ed qdmna mn ybsh dy dswp lyma alhkwn yy debd kma debrthwn ed qdmykwn mn yrdna my yth alhkwn yy dybsh
For Yahweh your God dried up the waters of the Jordan from before you until you had crossed over, as Yahweh your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up from before us, until we had crossed over,

בדיל דידעון כל עממי ארעא ית גבורתא דיי ארי תקיפה היא בדיל דתדחלון ית יי אלהכון כל יומיא:
ywmya kl alhkwn yy yth dthdkhlwn bdyl hya thqyph ary dyy gbwrtha yth area emmy kl dydewn bdyl
that all the peoples of the earth may know that Yahweh’s hand is mighty, and that you may fear Yahweh your God forever.’”
