ܘܫܕܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܒܪܢܘܢ ܡܢ ܣܛܝܡ ܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܕܝ̇ܕܥܝܢ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܙܠܘ ܚܙܘ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܕܐܝܪܝܚܘ ܘܐܙܠܘ ܘܥܠܘ ܠܘܬ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܙܢܝܬܐ ܕܫܡܗ̇ ܪܚܒ ܘܒܬܘ ܬܡܢ

Joshua the son of Nun secretly sent two men out of Shittim as spies, saying, “Go, view the land, including Jericho.” They went and came into the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab, and slept there.

ܘܐܬܐܡܪ ܠܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܪܝܚܘ ܕܗܐ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܐܬܘ ܠܗܪܟܐ ܒܠܠܝܐ ܡܢ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܡܓܫ ܐܪܥܐ

The king of Jericho was told, “Behold, men of the children of Israel came in here tonight to spy out the land.”

ܘܫܕܪ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܪܝܚܘ ܠܘܬ ܪܚܒ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ̇ ܐܦܩܝ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܕܥܠܘ ܠܘܬܟܝ ܒܠܠܝܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܡܓܫ ܐܪܥܢ ܐܬܘ
'thw 'ren dlmgsh mTl blly' lwthky delw gbr' 'pqy lh w'mr rkhb lwth d'yrykhw mlk' wshdr
Jericho’s king sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered into your house; for they have come to spy out all the land.”

ܘܕܒܪܬ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܠܬܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܘܛܫܝܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܡܪܬ ܫܪܝܪܐܝܬ ܐܬܘ ܠܘܬܝ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܘܠܐ ܝ̇ܕܥܬ ܡܢ ܐܝܡܟܐ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn 'ymk' mn ydeth wl' gbr' lwthy 'thw shryr'yth w'mrth 'nwn wTshyth gbr' lthryhwn 'nthth' wdbrth
The woman took the two men and hid them. Then she said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I didn’t know where they came from.

ܘܟܕ ܗܘܐ ܙܒܢܐ ܕܡܬܬܚܕ ܬܪܥܐ ܒܪܡܫܐ ܢܦܩܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܝܕܥܬ ܠܐܝܟܐ ܐܙܠܘ ܦܘܩܘ ܥܓܠ ܒܬܪܗܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܕܪܟܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܗܘܢ
lhwn 'nthwn dmdrkyn mTl bthrhwn egl pwqw 'zlw l'yk' ydeth wl' lhwn npqw brmsh' thre' dmththkhd zbn' hw' wkd
About the time of the shutting of the gate, when it was dark, the men went out. Where the men went, I don’t know. Pursue them quickly. You may catch up with them.”

ܘܗܝ ܐܣܩܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܐܓܪܐ ܘܛܫܝܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܝܬ ܟܪ̈ܣܒܢܐ ܕܟܬܢܐ ܕܣܝܡܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ̇ ܥܠ ܐܓܪܐ
'gr' el lh hww dsymyn dkthn' krsbn' byth 'nwn wTshyth l'gr' 'nwn 'sqth why
But she had brought them up to the roof, and hidden them under the stalks of flax which she had laid in order on the roof.

ܘܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܢܦܩܘ ܒܬܪܗܘܢ ܒܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܥܠ ܡܥܒܪܬܐ ܘܬܪܥܐ ܐܚܕܘ ܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܕܢܦܩܘ ܪ̈ܕܘܦܐ ܒܬܪ ܗ̇ܢܘܢ ܓܫܘ̈ܫܐ
gshwsh' hnwn bthr rdwp' dnpqw bthr mn 'khdw wthre' mebrth' el dywrdnn b'wrkh' bthrhwn npqw wgbr'
The men pursued them along the way to the fords of the Jordan River. As soon as those who pursued them had gone out, they shut the gate.

ܘܗܢܘܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܗܫܐ ܠܐ ܫܟܒܘ ܗܘܘ ܘܗܝ ܣܠܩܬ ܠܘܬܗܘܢ ܠܐܓܪܐ

Before they had lain down, she came up to them on the roof.

ܘܐܡܪܬ ܠܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܝ̇ܕܥܬ ܕܐܫܠܡܗ̇ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܘܢܦܠܬ ܕܚܠܬܟܘܢ ܥܠܝܢ ܘܐܦ ܕܚܠܘ ܟܘܠܗܘܢ ܥܡܘܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܝܟܘܢ
qdmykwn mn d're' emwryh kwlhwn dkhlw w'p elyn dkhlthkwn wnplth l're' mry' lkwn d'shlmh ydeth lgbr' w'mrth
She said to the men, “I know that Yahweh has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you.

ܡܛܠ ܕܫܡܥܢ ܕܐܘܒܫ ܡܪܝܐ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܕܝܡܐ ܕܣܘܦ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܝܟܘܢ ܟܕ ܢܦܩܬܘܢ ܡܢ ܡܨܪܝܢ ܘܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕܬܘܢ ܠܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܡ̈ܠܟܐ ܕܐܡܘܪ̈ܝܐ ܠܣܝܚܘܢ ܘܠܥܘܓ ܕܚܪܒܬܘܢ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn dkhrbthwn wlewg lsykhwn d'mwry' mlk' lthryn debdthwn wmdm mtsryn mn npqthwn kd qdmykwn mn dswp dym' my' mry' d'wbsh dshmen mTl
For we have heard how Yahweh dried up the water of the Red Sea before you, when you came out of Egypt; and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and to Og, whom you utterly destroyed.

ܘܟܕ ܫܡܥܢ ܙܥ ܠܒܢ ܘܠܐ ܐܫܬܚܪܬ ܪܘܚܐ ܒܐܢܫ ܡܢܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܝܟܘܢ ܡܛܘܠ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟܘܢ ܗܘܝܘ ܐܠܗܐ ܒܫܡܝܐ ܡܢ ܠܥܠ ܘܒܐܪܥܐ ܡܢ ܠܬܚܬ
lthkhth mn wb're' lel mn bshmy' 'lh' hwyw 'lhkwn dmry' mTwl qdmykwn mn mnn b'nsh rwkh' 'shthkhrth wl' lbn ze shmen wkd
As soon as we had heard it, our hearts melted, and there wasn’t any more spirit in any man, because of you: for Yahweh your God, he is God in heaven above, and on earth beneath.

ܡܟܝܠ ܐܝܡܘ ܠܝ ܒܡܪܝܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܥܒ̇ܕܬ ܒܟܘܢ ܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܘܥܒܕܘ ܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܝ ܘܒܒܝܬ ܐܒܝ ܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܘܗܒܘ ܠܝ ܐܬܐ ܕܩܘܫܬܐ
dqwshth' 'th' ly whbw Tybwth' 'by wbbyth by 'nthwn 'p webdw Tybwth' bkwn debdth mTl bmry' ly 'ymw mkyl
Now therefore, please swear to me by Yahweh, since I have dealt kindly with you, that you also will deal kindly with my father’s house, and give me a true sign;

ܘܐܚܘ ܠܝ ܠܐܒܝ ܘܠܐܡܝ ܘܠܐ̈ܚܝ ܘܠܐ̈ܚܘܬܝ ܘܠܟܠ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܢ ܘܦܨܘ ܢܦܫ̈ܬܢ ܡܢ ܡܘܬܐ
mwth' mn npshthn wptsw ln d'yth wlkl wl'khwthy wl'khy wl'my l'by ly w'khw
and that you will save alive my father, my mother, my brothers, and my sisters, and all that they have, and will deliver our lives from death.”

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗ̇ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܢܦܫ̈ܬܢ ܕܝܠܢ ܝ̇ܗܒܝܢܢ ܚܠܦܝܟܘܢ ܠܡܘܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܚܘܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܠܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܘܡܐ ܕܝܗܒܗ̇ ܠܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܗܕܐ ܥ̇ܒܕܝܢܢ ܥܡܟܝ ܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܘܩܘܫܬܐ
wqwshth' Tybwth' emky ebdynn hd' l're' mry' ln dyhbh wm' hd' mlth' 'nthwn mkhwyn dyn 'l' lmwth' khlpykwn yhbynn dyln npshthn gbr' lh w'mrw
The men said to her, “Our life for yours, if you don’t talk about this business of ours; and it shall be, when Yahweh gives us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.”

ܘܐܚܬܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܚܒܠܐ ܡܢ ܟܘܬܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܒܝܬܗ̇ ܒܐܣܬܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܫܘܪܐ ܘܥܠ ܫܘܪܐ ܝ̇ܬܒܐ ܗܘܬ
hwth ythb' shwr' wel dshwr' hw' b'sth' dbythh mTl kwth' mn bkhbl' 'nwn w'khthth
Then she let them down by a cord through the window; for her house was on the side of the wall, and she lived on the wall.

ܘܐܡܪܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܒܛܘܪܐ ܛܘܪܐ ܙܠܘ ܕܠܡܐ ܢܦܓܥܘܢ ܒܟܘܢ ܗ̇ܢܘܢ ܕܢܦܩܘ ܒܬܪܟܘܢ ܘܐܬܛܫܘ ܬܡܢ ܬܠܬܐ ܝܘܡ̈ܝܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܗ̇ܦܟܝܢ ܘܗܝܕܝܢ ܬܐܙܠܘܢ ܒܐܘܪܚܟܘܢ
b'wrkhkwn th'zlwn whydyn dhpkyn edm' ywmyn thlth' thmn w'thTshw bthrkwn dnpqw hnwn bkwn npgewn dlm' zlw Twr' bTwr' lhwn w'mrth
She said to them, “Go to the mountain, lest the pursuers find you. Hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers have returned. Afterward, you may go your way.”

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗ̇ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܡܚܣܝܢ ܚܢܢ ܡܢ ܡܘܡܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܕܐܘܡܝܬܝܢ
d'wmythyn hd' mwmth' mn khnn mkhsyn gbr' lh w'mrw
The men said to her, “We will be guiltless of this your oath which you’ve made us to swear.

ܗܐ ܚܢܢ ܥ̇ܐܠܝܢܢ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܚܘܛܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܙܚܘܪܝܬܐ ܩܛܘܪܝ ܒܟܘܬܐ ܕܐܚܬܬܝܢ ܡܢܗ̇ ܘܠܐܒܘܟܝ ܘܠܐܡܟܝ ܘܠܐ̈ܚܝܟܝ ܘܠܟܠܗ ܒܝܬ ܐܒܘܟܝ ܐܥܠܝ ܠܘܬܟܝ ܠܓܘ ܒܝܬܐ
byth' lgw lwthky 'ely 'bwky byth wlklh wl'khyky wl'mky wl'bwky mnh d'khththyn bkwth' qTwry dzkhwryth' dyn khwT' l're' e'lynn khnn h'
Behold, when we come into the land, tie this line of scarlet thread in the window which you used to let us down. Gather to yourself into the house your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household.

ܘܟܠ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܢ̇ܦܩ ܡܢ ܬܪܥܐ ܕܒܝܬܟܝ ܠܒܪ ܕܡܗ ܒܪܝܫܗ ܘܐܚܢܢ ܡܦܨܝܢܢ ܡܢ ܥܝܪܬܗ ܘܟܠ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܢܗܘܐ ܥܡܟܝ ܒܓܘ ܒܝܬܐ ܕܡܗ ܒܪܝܫܢ ܘܚܢܢ ܚܝ̇ܒܝܢܢ ܥܝܪܬܗ ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܢܗܪܝܘܗܝ
nhrywhy 'nsh 'n eyrthh khybynn wkhnn bryshn dmh byth' bgw emky dnhw' mn wkl eyrthh mn mptsynn w'khnn bryshh dmh lbr dbythky thre' mn dnpq mn wkl
It shall be that whoever goes out of the doors of your house into the street, his blood will be on his head, and we will be guiltless. Whoever is with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand is on him.

ܘܐܢ ܬܚܘܝܢ ܡܠܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܗܘܝܢ ܡܚܣܝܢ ܡܢ ܡܘܡܬܐ ܕܐܘܡܝܬܝܢ
d'wmythyn mwmth' mn mkhsyn hwyn hd' mlth' thkhwyn w'n
But if you talk about this business of ours, then we shall be guiltless of your oath which you’ve made us to swear.”

ܘܐܡܪܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܡܠܬܟܘܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܘܫܕܪܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܙܠܘ ܘܩܛܪܬ ܚܘܛܐ ܕܙܚܘܪܝܬܐ ܒܟܘܬܐ
bkwth' dzkhwryth' khwT' wqTrth w'zlw 'nwn wshdrth nhw' hkn' mlthkwn 'yk lhwn w'mrth
She said, “Let it be as you have said.” She sent them away, and they departed. Then she tied the scarlet line in the window.

ܘܐܙܠܘ ܠܛܘܪܐ ܘܐܝܬܒܘ ܬܡܢ ܬܠܬܐ ܝܘܡ̈ܝܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܗܦܟܘ ܗ̇ܢܘܢ ܕܐܙܠܘ ܒܬܪܗܘܢ ܠܡܐܬܐ ܘܒܥܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܗ̇ܢܘܢ ܕܢܦܩܘ ܒܬܪܗܘܢ ܒܟܘܠܗ̇ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܘܟܕ ܠܐ ܐܫܟܚܘ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn 'shkkhw l' wkd 'wrkh' bkwlh bthrhwn dnpqw hnwn 'nwn wbew lm'th' bthrhwn d'zlw hnwn dhpkw edm' ywmyn thlth' thmn w'ythbw lTwr' w'zlw
They went and came to the mountain, and stayed there three days, until the pursuers had returned. The pursuers sought them all along the way, but didn’t find them.

ܗܦܟܘ ܠܗܘܢ. ܘܗ̇ܢܘܢ ܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܓܫܘ̈ܫܝܢ ܢܚܬܘ ܡܢ ܛܘܪܐ ܘܥܒܪܘ ܘܐܙܠܘ ܠܘܬ ܝܫܘܥ ܒܪܢܘܢ ܘܐܫܬܥܝܘ ܠܗ ܟܠܡܕܡ ܕܓܕܫ ܠܗܘܢ
lhwn dgdsh klmdm lh w'shtheyw brnwn yshwe lwth w'zlw webrw Twr' mn nkhthw gshwshyn thryn whnwn lhwn hpkw
Then the two men returned, descended from the mountain, crossed the river, and came to Joshua the son of Nun. They told him all that had happened to them.

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܐܫܠܡܗ̇ ܡܪܝܐ ܒܐ̈ܝܕܝܢ ܠܟܠܗ̇ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܐܦ ܕܚܠܘ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܡܘܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܝܢ
qdmyn mn d're' emwryh klhwn dkhlw w'p 're' lklh b'ydyn mry' 'shlmh lyshwe lh w'mrw
They said to Joshua, “Truly Yahweh has delivered all the land into our hands. Moreover, all the inhabitants of the land melt away before us.”
