והוה עדבא לשבטא דמנשה ארי הוא בוכרא דיוסף למכיר בוכרא דמנשה אבוהי דגלעד ארי הוא הוה גבר עביד קרבין והוה ליה ארעא גלעד ומתנן:
wmthnn gled area lyh whwh qrbyn ebyd gbr hwh hwa ary dgled abwhy dmnshh bwkra lmkyr dywsp bwkra hwa ary dmnshh lshbTa edba whwh
This was the lot for the tribe of Manasseh, for he was the firstborn of Joseph. As for Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead, because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bashan.

והוה לבני מנשה דאשתארו לזרעיתהון ולבני אביעזר ולבני חלק ולבני אשריאל ולבני שכם ולבני חפר ולבני שמידע אילן בני מנשה בר יוסף דכריא לזרעיתהון:
lzreythhwn dkrya ywsp br mnshh bny ayln shmyde wlbny khpr wlbny shkm wlbny ashryal wlbny khlq wlbny abyezr wlbny lzreythhwn dashtharw mnshh lbny whwh
So this was for the rest of the children of Manasseh according to their families: for the children of Abiezer, for the children of Helek, for the children of Asriel, for the children of Shechem, for the children of Hepher, and for the children of Shemida. These were the male children of Manasseh the son of Joseph according to their families.

ולצלפחד בר חפר בר גלעד בר מכיר בר מנשה לא הוו ליה בנין אלהן בנן ואלין שמהת בנתיה מחלה ונעה חגלה מלכה ותרצה:
wthrtsh mlkh khglh wneh mkhlh bnthyh shmhth walyn bnn alhn bnyn lyh hww la mnshh br mkyr br gled br khpr br wltslpkhd
But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters. These are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

וקריבא לקדם אלעזר כהנא ולקדם יהושע בר נון ולקדם רברביא למימר יי פקיד ית משה למתן לנא אחסנא בגו אחנא ויהב להון על מימרא דיי אחסנא בגו אחי אבוהן:
abwhn akhy bgw akhsna dyy mymra el lhwn wyhb akhna bgw akhsna lna lmthn mshh yth pqyd yy lmymr rbrbya wlqdm nwn br yhwshe wlqdm khna alezr lqdm wqryba
They came to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the princes, saying, “Yahweh commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brothers.” Therefore according to the commandment of Yahweh he gave them an inheritance among the brothers of their father.

ונפלו עדבי מנשה עסרא בר מארעא דגלעד ומתנן דמעיברא לירדנא:
lyrdna dmeybra wmthnn dgled marea br esra mnshh edby wnplw
Ten parts fell to Manasseh, in addition to the land of Gilead and Bashan, which is beyond the Jordan;

ארי בנת מנשה אחסינו אחסנא בגו בנוהי וארעא גלעד הות לבני מנשה דאשתארו:
dashtharw mnshh lbny hwth gled warea bnwhy bgw akhsna akhsynw mnshh bnth ary
because the daughters of Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons. The land of Gilead belonged to the rest of the sons of Manasseh.

והוה תחום מנשה מאשר למכמתת די על אפי שכם ואזל תחומא לימינא ליתבי עין תפוח:
thpwkh eyn lythby lymyna thkhwma wazl shkm apy el dy lmkmthth mashr mnshh thkhwm whwh
The border of Manasseh was from Asher to Michmethath, which is before Shechem. The border went along to the right hand, to the inhabitants of En Tappuah.

למנשה הות ארע תפוח ותפוח על תחום מנשה לבני אפרים:
aprym lbny mnshh thkhwm el wthpwkh thpwkh are hwth lmnshh
The land of Tappuah belonged to Manasseh; but Tappuah on the border of Manasseh belonged to the children of Ephraim.

ונחית תחומא לנחלא דקנה לדרומא לנחלא קרויא האלין לאפרים בגו קרוי מנשה ותחום מנשה מצפונא לנחלא והון מפקנוהי לימא:
lyma mpqnwhy whwn lnkhla mtspwna mnshh wthkhwm mnshh qrwy bgw laprym halyn qrwya lnkhla ldrwma dqnh lnkhla thkhwma wnkhyth
The border went down to the brook of Kanah, southward of the brook. These cities belonged to Ephraim among the cities of Manasseh. The border of Manasseh was on the north side of the brook, and ended at the sea.

דרומא לאפרים וצפונא למנשה והוה ימא תחומיה ובאשר מערעין מצפונא וביששכר ממדינחא:
mmdynkha wbyshshkr mtspwna mereyn wbashr thkhwmyh yma whwh lmnshh wtspwna laprym drwma
Southward it was Ephraim’s, and northward it was Manasseh’s, and the sea was his border. They reached to Asher on the north, and to Issachar on the east.

והוה למנשה ביששכר ובאשר בית שאן וכפרנהא ויבלעם וכפרנהא וית יתבי דאר וכפרנהא ויתבי עין דר וכפרנהא ויתבי תענך וכפרנהא ויתבי מגדו וכפרנהא תלתא פלכין:
plkyn thltha wkprnha mgdw wythby wkprnha thenk wythby wkprnha dr eyn wythby wkprnha dar ythby wyth wkprnha wyblem wkprnha shan byth wbashr byshshkr lmnshh whwh
Manasseh had three heights in Issachar, in Asher Beth Shean and its towns, and Ibleam and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Endor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns.

ולא יכילו בני מנשה לתרכא ית קרויא האלין ושרי כנענאה למתב בארעא הדא:
hda barea lmthb knenah wshry halyn qrwya yth lthrka mnshh bny ykylw wla
Yet the children of Manasseh couldn’t drive out the inhabitants of those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

והוה כד תקיפו בני ישראל ומניאו ית כנענאי למסקי מסין ותרכא לא תרכינון:
thrkynwn la wthrka msyn lmsqy knenay yth wmnyaw yshral bny thqypw kd whwh
When the children of Israel had grown strong, they put the Canaanites to forced labor, and didn’t utterly drive them out.

ומלילו בני יוסף עם יהושע למימר מא דין יהבת לי אחסנא עדבא חד וחולק חד ואנא עם סגי עד לסגי ברכני יי:
yy brkny lsgy ed sgy em wana khd wkhwlq khd edba akhsna ly yhbth dyn ma lmymr yhwshe em ywsp bny wmlylw
The children of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, “Why have you given me just one lot and one part for an inheritance, since we are a numerous people, because Yahweh has blessed us so far?”

ואמר להון יהושע אם עם סגי אתון סקו לכון לחורשא ותתקן לך תמן אתר בארע פרזאי וגבריא ארי עק לכון טורא דהר אפרים:
aprym dhr Twra lkwn eq ary wgbrya przay bare athr thmn lk wththqn lkhwrsha lkwn sqw athwn sgy em am yhwshe lhwn wamr
Joshua said to them, “If you are a numerous people, go up to the forest, and clear land for yourself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the Rephaim, since the hill country of Ephraim is too narrow for you.”

ואמרו בני יוסף לא יספק לנא טורא ורתיכין דפרזלא בכל כנענאי דיתבין בארע מישרא לדי בבית שאן וכפרנהא ולדי במישר יזרעאל:
yzreal bmyshr wldy wkprnha shan bbyth ldy myshra bare dythbyn knenay bkl dprzla wrthykyn Twra lna yspq la ywsp bny wamrw
The children of Joseph said, “The hill country is not enough for us. All the Canaanites who dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both those who are in Beth Shean and its towns, and those who are in the valley of Jezreel.”

ואמר יהושע לבית יוסף לאפרים ולמנשה למימר עם סגי אתון וחיל סגי לכון לא יהי לכון עדבא חד:
khd edba lkwn yhy la lkwn sgy wkhyl athwn sgy em lmymr wlmnshh laprym ywsp lbyth yhwshe wamr
Joshua spoke to the house of Joseph, that is, to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, “You are a numerous people, and have great power. You shall not have one lot only;

ארי טורא יהי לך ארי חורשא הוא ותתקניניה ויהי לך מפקנוהי ארי תתרכון ית כנענאי ארי רתיכין דפרזלא ליה ארי תקיפין אינון:
aynwn thqypyn ary lyh dprzla rthykyn ary knenay yth ththrkwn ary mpqnwhy lk wyhy wththqnynyh hwa khwrsha ary lk yhy Twra ary
but the hill country shall be yours. Although it is a forest, you shall cut it down, and it’s farthest extent shall be yours; for you shall drive out the Canaanites, though they have chariots of iron, and though they are strong.”
