והוה כד שמע אדני צדק מלכא דירושלם ארי כבש יהושע ית עי וגמרה כמא דעבד ליריחו ולמלכה כן עבד לעי ולמלכה וארי אשלימו יתבי גבעון עם ישראל והוו ביניהון:

Now when Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them,

ודחילו לחדא ארי קרתא רבתא גבעון כחדא מקרוי מלכותא וארי היא רבא מן עי וכל גברהא גברין:
gbryn gbrha wkl ey mn rba hya wary mlkwtha mqrwy kkhda gbewn rbtha qrtha ary lkhda wdkhylw
they were very afraid, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all its men were mighty.

ושלח אדני צדק מלכא דירושלם לות הוהם מלכא דחברון ולות פראם מלכא דירמות ולות יפיע מלכא דלכיש ולות דביר מלכא דעגלון למימר:
lmymr deglwn mlka dbyr wlwth dlkysh mlka ypye wlwth dyrmwth mlka pram wlwth dkhbrwn mlka hwhm lwth dyrwshlm mlka tsdq adny wshlkh
Therefore Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sent to Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish, and Debir king of Eglon, saying,

סקו לותי וסעדוני ונמחי ית יתבי גבעון ארי אשלמת עם יהושע ועם בני ישראל:
yshral bny wem yhwshe em ashlmth ary gbewn ythby yth wnmkhy wsedwny lwthy sqw
“Come up to me and help me. Let’s strike Gibeon; for they have made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.”

ואתכנשו וסליקו חמשא מלכי אמוראה מלכא דירושלם מלכא דחברון מלכא דירמות מלכא דלכיש מלכא דעגלון אינון וכל משריתהון ושרו על גבעון ואגיחו קרבא עלה:
elh qrba wagykhw gbewn el wshrw mshrythhwn wkl aynwn deglwn mlka dlkysh mlka dyrmwth mlka dkhbrwn mlka dyrwshlm mlka amwrah mlky khmsha wslyqw wathknshw
Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together and went up, they and all their armies, and encamped against Gibeon, and made war against it.

ושלחו אנשי גבעון לות יהושע למשריתא לגלגלא למימר לא תרשל ידך מעבדך סק לותנא בפריע ופרוק לנא וסעדנא ארי אתכנשו עלנא כל מלכי אמוראה יתבי טורא:
Twra ythby amwrah mlky kl elna athknshw ary wsedna lna wprwq bprye lwthna sq mebdk ydk thrshl la lmymr lglgla lmshrytha yhwshe lwth gbewn anshy wshlkhw
The men of Gibeon sent to Joshua at the camp at Gilgal, saying, “Don’t abandon your servants! Come up to us quickly and save us! Help us; for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the hill country have gathered together against us.”

וסליק יהושע מן גלגלא הוא וכל עמא עבדי קרבא עמיה וכל גברי חילא:
khyla gbry wkl emyh qrba ebdy ema wkl hwa glgla mn yhwshe wslyq
So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he and the whole army with him, including all the mighty men of valor.

ואמר יי ליהושע לא תדחל מנהון ארי בידך מסרתינון לא יתעתד אנש מנהון קדמך:
qdmk mnhwn ansh ythethd la msrthynwn bydk ary mnhwn thdkhl la lyhwshe yy wamr
Yahweh said to Joshua, “Don’t fear them, for I have delivered them into your hands. Not a man of them will stand before you.”

ואתא לותהון יהושע בתכיף כל ליליא סליק מן גלגלא:
glgla mn slyq lylya kl bthkyp yhwshe lwthhwn watha
Joshua therefore came to them suddenly. He marched from Gilgal all night.
10
ותברינון יי קדם ישראל ומחנון מחתא רבא בגבעון ורדפונון באורח מסקנא דבית חורון ומחנון עד עזקה ועד מקדה:
mqdh wed ezqh ed wmkhnwn khwrwn dbyth msqna bawrkh wrdpwnwn bgbewn rba mkhtha wmkhnwn yshral qdm yy wthbrynwn
Yahweh confused them before Israel. He killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them by the way of the ascent of Beth Horon, and struck them to Azekah and to Makkedah.

והוה במפכיהון מן קדם ישראל אינון במחתנא דבית חורון ומן קדם יי אתרמיאה עליהון אבנין רברבן מן שמיא עד דאתו לעזקה ומיתו סגיאין דמיתו באבני ברדא מדקטולו בני ישראל בחרבא:
bkhrba yshral bny mdqTwlw brda babny dmythw sgyayn wmythw lezqh dathw ed shmya mn rbrbn abnyn elyhwn athrmyah yy qdm wmn khwrwn dbyth bmkhthna aynwn yshral qdm mn bmpkyhwn whwh
As they fled from before Israel, while they were at the descent of Beth Horon, Yahweh hurled down great stones from the sky on them to Azekah, and they died. There were more who died from the hailstones than those whom the children of Israel killed with the sword.

בכן שבח יהושע קדם יי ביומא דמסר יי ית אמוראה קדם בני ישראל ואמר לעיני ישראל שמשא בגבעון אוריך וסיהרא במישר אילון:
aylwn bmyshr wsyhra awryk bgbewn shmsha yshral leyny wamr yshral bny qdm amwrah yth yy dmsr bywma yy qdm yhwshe shbkh bkn
Then Joshua spoke to Yahweh in the day when Yahweh delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel. He said in the sight of Israel, “Sun, stand still on Gibeon! You, moon, stop in the valley of Aijalon!”

ואוריך שמשא וסיהרה קם עד דאתפרע עמא ישראל מבעלי דבביהון הלא היא כתיבא על ספרא דאורייתא וקם שמשא בפלגות שמיא ולא דחק למיעל כיום שלים:
shlym kywm lmyel dkhq wla shmya bplgwth shmsha wqm dawryytha spra el kthyba hya hla dbbyhwn mbely yshral ema dathpre ed qm wsyhrh shmsha wawryk
The sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation had avenged themselves of their enemies. Isn’t this written in the book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the middle of the sky, and didn’t hurry to go down about a whole day.

ולא הוה כיומא ההוא קדמוהי ובתרוהי דאתקבלת קדם יי צלות אנש ארי במימריה יי מגיח קרבא לישראל:
lyshral qrba mgykh yy bmymryh ary ansh tslwth yy qdm dathqblth wbthrwhy qdmwhy hhwa kywma hwh wla
There was no day like that before it or after it, that Yahweh listened to the voice of a man; for Yahweh fought for Israel.

ותב יהושע וכל ישראל עמיה למשריתא לגלגלא:
lglgla lmshrytha emyh yshral wkl yhwshe wthb
Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp to Gilgal.
16
ואפכו חמשא מלכיא האלין ואטמרו במערתא במקדה:
bmqdh bmertha waTmrw halyn mlkya khmsha wapkw
These five kings fled, and hid themselves in the cave at Makkedah.
17
ואתחוא ליהושע למימר אשתכחו חמשא מלכיא טמירין במערתא במקדה:
bmqdh bmertha Tmyryn mlkya khmsha ashthkkhw lmymr lyhwshe wathkhwa
Joshua was told, saying, “The five kings have been found, hidden in the cave at Makkedah.”

ואמר יהושע קריבו אבנין רברבין קדם פומא דמערתא ומנו עלה גברין למטרהון:
lmTrhwn gbryn elh wmnw dmertha pwma qdm rbrbyn abnyn qrybw yhwshe wamr
Joshua said, “Roll large stones to cover the cave’s entrance, and set men by it to guard them;

ואתון לא תקומון רדופו בתר בעלי דבביכון ותדבקון יתהון לא תשבקונון למיעל לקרויהון ארי מסרינון יי אלהכון בידיכון:
bydykwn alhkwn yy msrynwn ary lqrwyhwn lmyel thshbqwnwn la ythhwn wthdbqwn dbbykwn bely bthr rdwpw thqwmwn la wathwn
but don’t stay there. Pursue your enemies, and attack them from the rear. Don’t allow them to enter into their cities; for Yahweh your God has delivered them into your hand.”
20
והוה כד שיצי יהושע ובני ישראל לממחיהון מחתא רבתא לחדא עד דשלימו ומשיזביא אשתזיבו מנהון ועלו לקרוין כריכן:
krykn lqrwyn welw mnhwn ashthzybw wmshyzbya dshlymw ed lkhda rbtha mkhtha lmmkhyhwn yshral wbny yhwshe shytsy kd whwh
When Joshua and the children of Israel had finished killing them with a very great slaughter until they were consumed, and the remnant which remained of them had entered into the fortified cities,

ותבו כל עמא למשריתא לות יהושע למקדה בשלם לא הוה נזקא לבני ישראל למדחק גבר ית נפשיה:
npshyh yth gbr lmdkhq yshral lbny nzqa hwh la bshlm lmqdh yhwshe lwth lmshrytha ema kl wthbw
all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace. None moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.
22
ואמר יהושע פתחו ית פומא דמערתא ואפיקו לותי ית חמשא מלכיא האלין מן מערתא:
mertha mn halyn mlkya khmsha yth lwthy wapyqw dmertha pwma yth pthkhw yhwshe wamr
Then Joshua said, “Open the cave entrance, and bring those five kings out of the cave to me.”

ועבדו כן ואפיקו לותיה ית חמשא מלכיא האלין מן מערתא ית מלכא דירושלם ית מלכא דחברון ית מלכא דירמות ית מלכא דלכיש ית מלכא דעגלון:
deglwn mlka yth dlkysh mlka yth dyrmwth mlka yth dkhbrwn mlka yth dyrwshlm mlka yth mertha mn halyn mlkya khmsha yth lwthyh wapyqw kn webdw
They did so, and brought those five kings out of the cave to him: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.

והוה כד אפיקו ית מלכיא האלין לות יהושע וקרא יהושע לכל אנש ישראל ואמר לשלטוני גברי מגיחי קרבא דאזלו עמיה קרבו שוו ית רגליכון על צוארי מלכיא האלין וקריבו ושויאו ית רגליהון על צואריהון:
tswaryhwn el rglyhwn yth wshwyaw wqrybw halyn mlkya tswary el rglykwn yth shww qrbw emyh dazlw qrba mgykhy gbry lshlTwny wamr yshral ansh lkl yhwshe wqra yhwshe lwth halyn mlkya yth apyqw kd whwh
When they brought those kings out to Joshua, Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said to the chiefs of the men of war who went with him, “Come near. Put your feet on the necks of these kings.” They came near, and put their feet on their necks.
25
ואמר להון יהושע לא תדחלון ולא תתברון תקיפו ועלימו ארי כדין יעבד יי לכל בעלי דבביכון דאתון מגיחין קרבא בהון:
bhwn qrba mgykhyn dathwn dbbykwn bely lkl yy yebd kdyn ary welymw thqypw ththbrwn wla thdkhlwn la yhwshe lhwn wamr
Joshua said to them, “Don’t be afraid, nor be dismayed. Be strong and courageous, for Yahweh will do this to all your enemies against whom you fight.”
26
ומחנון יהושע בתר כן וקטלינון וצלבינון על חמשא צליבין והוו צליבין על צליביא עד רמשא:
rmsha ed tslybya el tslybyn whww tslybyn khmsha el wtslbynwn wqTlynwn kn bthr yhwshe wmkhnwn
Afterward Joshua struck them, put them to death, and hanged them on five trees. They were hanging on the trees until the evening.
27
והוה לעידן מיעל שמשא פקד יהושע ואחיתונון מעל צליביא ורמונון למערתא דאטמרו תמן ושויאו אבנין רברבן על פומא דמערתא עד כרן יומא הדין:
hdyn ywma krn ed dmertha pwma el rbrbn abnyn wshwyaw thmn daTmrw lmertha wrmwnwn tslybya mel wakhythwnwn yhwshe pqd shmsha myel leydn whwh
At the time of the going down of the sun, Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and threw them into the cave in which they had hidden themselves, and laid great stones on the mouth of the cave, which remain to this very day.
28
וית מקדה כבש יהושע ביומא ההוא ומחא לפתגם דחרב וית מלכא גמר יתהון וית כל נפשתא די בה לא אשאר משזיב ועבד למלכא דמקדה כמא דעבד למלכא דיריחו:
dyrykhw lmlka debd kma dmqdh lmlka webd mshzyb ashar la bh dy npshtha kl wyth ythhwn gmr mlka wyth dkhrb lpthgm wmkha hhwa bywma yhwshe kbsh mqdh wyth
Joshua took Makkedah on that day, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with its king. He utterly destroyed it and all the souls who were in it. He left no one remaining. He did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.
29
ועבר יהושע וכל ישראל עמיה ממקדה ללבנה ואגיח קרבא עם לבנה:
lbnh em qrba wagykh llbnh mmqdh emyh yshral wkl yhwshe webr
Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, to Libnah, and fought against Libnah.

ומסר יי אף יתה בידא דישראל וית מלכה ומחה לפתגם דחרב וית כל נפשתא די בה לא אשאר בה משזיב ועבד למלכא כמא דעבד למלכה דיריחו:
dyrykhw lmlkh debd kma lmlka webd mshzyb bh ashar la bh dy npshtha kl wyth dkhrb lpthgm wmkhh mlkh wyth dyshral byda ythh ap yy wmsr
Yahweh delivered it also, with its king, into the hand of Israel. He struck it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls who were in it. He left no one remaining in it. He did to its king as he had done to the king of Jericho.
31
ועבר יהושע וכל ישראל עמיה מלבנה ללכיש ושרא עלה ואגיח קרבא בה:
bh qrba wagykh elh wshra llkysh mlbnh emyh yshral wkl yhwshe webr
Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, to Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it.
32
ומסר יי ית לכיש בידא דישראל וכבשה ביומא תנינא ומחה לפתגם דחרב וית כל נפשתא דבה ככל דעבד ללבנה:
llbnh debd kkl dbh npshtha kl wyth dkhrb lpthgm wmkhh thnyna bywma wkbshh dyshral byda lkysh yth yy wmsr
Yahweh delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel. He took it on the second day, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with all the souls who were in it, according to all that he had done to Libnah.
33
בכן סליק הורם מלכא דגזר למסעד ית לכיש ומחהי יהושע וית עמיה עד דלא אשתאר ליה משזיב:
mshzyb lyh ashthar dla ed emyh wyth yhwshe wmkhhy lkysh yth lmsed dgzr mlka hwrm slyq bkn
Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua struck him and his people, until he had left him no one remaining.
34
ועבר יהושע וכל ישראל עמיה מלכיש לעגלון ושרו עלה ואגיחו קרבא עלה:
elh qrba wagykhw elh wshrw leglwn mlkysh emyh yshral wkl yhwshe webr
Joshua passed from Lachish, and all Israel with him, to Eglon; and they encamped against it and fought against it.
35
וכבשוה ביומא ההוא ומחוהא לפתגם דחרב וית כל נפשתא דבה ביומא ההוא גמר ככל דעבד ללכיש:
llkysh debd kkl gmr hhwa bywma dbh npshtha kl wyth dkhrb lpthgm wmkhwha hhwa bywma wkbshwh
They took it on that day, and struck it with the edge of the sword. He utterly destroyed all the souls who were in it that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.
36
וסליק יהושע וכל ישראל עמיה מעגלון לחברון ואגיחו קרבא עלה:
elh qrba wagykhw lkhbrwn meglwn emyh yshral wkl yhwshe wslyq
Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, to Hebron; and they fought against it.
37
וכבשוהא ומחוהא לפתגם דחרב וית מלכה וית כל קרוהא וית כל נפשתא דבה לא אשאר משזיב ככל דעבד לעגלון וגמר יתה וית כל נפשתא דבה:
dbh npshtha kl wyth ythh wgmr leglwn debd kkl mshzyb ashar la dbh npshtha kl wyth qrwha kl wyth mlkh wyth dkhrb lpthgm wmkhwha wkbshwha
They took it, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with its king and all its cities, and all the souls who were in it. He left no one remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but he utterly destroyed it, and all the souls who were in it.
38
ותב יהושע וכל ישראל עמיה לדביר ואגיח קרבא עלה:
elh qrba wagykh ldbyr emyh yshral wkl yhwshe wthb
Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir, and fought against it.
39
וכבשה וית מלכה וית כל קרוהא ומחונון לפתגם דחרב וגמירו ית כל נפשתא די בה לא אשאר משזיב כמא דעבד לחברון כן עבד לדביר ולמלכה וכמא דעבד ללבנה ולמלכה:
wlmlkh llbnh debd wkma wlmlkh ldbyr ebd kn lkhbrwn debd kma mshzyb ashar la bh dy npshtha kl yth wgmyrw dkhrb lpthgm wmkhwnwn qrwha kl wyth mlkh wyth wkbshh
He took it, with its king and all its cities. They struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls who were in it. He left no one remaining. As he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to its king; as he had done also to Libnah, and to its king.
40
ומחא יהושע ית כל ארעא טורא ודרומא ושפלתא ומשפך מרמתא וית כל מלכיהון לא אשאר משזיב וית כל נשמא גמר כמא דפקד יי אלהא דישראל:
dyshral alha yy dpqd kma gmr nshma kl wyth mshzyb ashar la mlkyhwn kl wyth mrmtha wmshpk wshpltha wdrwma Twra area kl yth yhwshe wmkha
So Joshua struck all the land, the hill country, the South, the lowland, the slopes, and all their kings. He left no one remaining, but he utterly destroyed all that breathed, as Yahweh, the God of Israel, commanded.
41
ומחנון יהושע מרקם גיאה ועד עזה וית כל ארע גושן ועד גבעון:
gbewn wed gwshn are kl wyth ezh wed gyah mrqm yhwshe wmkhnwn
Joshua struck them from Kadesh Barnea even to Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even to Gibeon.

וית כל מלכיא האילין וית ארעהון כבש יהושע בזמנא חדא ארי יי אלהא דישראל במימריה אגיח קרבא לישראל:
lyshral qrba agykh bmymryh dyshral alha yy ary khda bzmna yhwshe kbsh arehwn wyth haylyn mlkya kl wyth
Joshua took all these kings and their land at one time because Yahweh, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.
