ܘܗܘܐ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܝܘܢܢ ܕܬܪ̈ܬܝܢ ܙܒܢܝ̈ܢ ܠܡܐܡܪ

Yahweh’s word came to Jonah the second time, saying,

ܩܘܡ ܙܠ ܠܢܝܢܘܐ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܪܒܬܐ ܘܐܟܪܙ ܥܠܝܗ̇ ܟܪܘܙܘܬܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ
qwm zl lnynw' mdynth' rbth' w'krz elyh krwzwth' d'mr 'n' lk
“Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I give you.”

ܘܩܡ ܝܘܢܢ ܘܐܙܠ ܠܢܝܢܘܐ ܐܝܟ ܡܠܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܢܝܢܘܐ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܗܘܬ ܪܒܬܐ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܡܪܕܐ ܬܠܬܐ ܝܘ̈ܡܝܢ
wqm ywnn w'zl lnynw' 'yk mlthh dmry' wnynw' mdynth' hwth rbth' l'lh' mrd' thlth' ywmyn
So Jonah arose, and went to Nineveh, according to Yahweh’s word. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, three days’ journey across.

ܘܫܪܝ ܝܘܢܢ ܠܡܥܠ ܠܢܝܢܘܐ ܡܪܕܐ ܝܘܡܐ ܚܕ ܘܐܟܪܙ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܟܐ ܠܐܪ̈ܒܥܝܢ ܝܘܡ̈ܝܢ ܢܝܢܘܐ ܡܬܗܦܟܐ
wshry ywnn lmel lnynw' mrd' ywm' khd w'krz w'mr mk' l'rbeyn ywmyn nynw' mthhpk'
Jonah began to enter into the city a day’s journey, and he cried out, and said, “In forty days, Nineveh will be overthrown!”

ܘܗܝܡܢܘ ܐܢܫ̈ܝܗ̇ ܕܢܝܢܘܐ ܒܐܠܗܐ ܘܦܣܩܘ ܨܘܡܐ ܘܠܒܫܘ ܣܩ̈ܐ ܡܢ ܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܝܗܘܢ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܙܥܘܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ
whymnw 'nshyh dnynw' b'lh' wpsqw tswm' wlbshw sq' mn rwrbnyhwn wedm' lzewryhwn
The people of Nineveh believed God; and they proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth, from their greatest even to their least.

ܘܡܛܬ ܡܠܬܐ ܠܡܠܟܐ ܕܢܝܢܘܐ ܘܩܡ ܡܢ ܟܘܪܣܝܗ ܘܫܩܠ ܬܓܗ ܡܢܗ ܘܠܒܫ ܣܩܐ ܘܝܬܒ ܥܠ ܩܛܡܐ

The news reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, took off his royal robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.

ܘܐܟܪܙ ܘܐܡܪ ܒܢܝܢܘܐ ܡܢ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܕܡܠܟܐ ܘܕܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܘܗܝ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܘܒܥܝܪܐ ܘܬܘܪ̈ܐ ܘܥܢܐ ܠܐ ܢܛܥܡܘܢ ܡܕܡ ܘܠܐ ܢܪܥܘܢ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܢܫܬܘܢ
w'krz w'mr bnynw' mn pwqdn' dmlk' wdrwrbnwhy bny 'nsh' wbeyr' wthwr' wen' l' nTemwn mdm wl' nrewn 'p l' my' nshthwn
He made a proclamation and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, “Let neither man nor animal, herd nor flock, taste anything; let them not feed, nor drink water;

ܐܠܐ ܢܬܟܣܘܢ ܣܩ̈ܐ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܘܒܥܝܪܐ ܘܢܩܪܘܢܗ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܒܚܢܓܬܐ ܘܢܗܦܘܟ ܐܢܫ ܡܢ ܐܘܪܚܗ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܡܢ ܚܛܘܦܝܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܒܐ̈ܝܕܘܗܝ
'l' nthkswn sq' bny 'nsh' wbeyr' wnqrwnh l'lh' bkhngth' wnhpwk 'nsh mn 'wrkhh byshth' wmn khTwpy' d'yth b'ydwhy
but let them be covered with sackcloth, both man and animal, and let them cry mightily to God. Yes, let them turn everyone from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands.

ܡ̇ܢ ܝܕܥ ܐܢ ܡܬܦܢܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܡܪܚܡ ܥܠܝܢ ܘܡܗܦܟ ܡܢܢ ܚܡܬܐ ܕܪܘܓܙܗ ܕܠܐ ܢܐܒܕ
mn yde 'n mthpn' 'lh' wmrkhm elyn wmhpk mnn khmth' drwgzh dl' n'bd
Who knows whether God will not turn and relent, and turn away from his fierce anger, so that we might not perish?”

ܘܚܙܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܥܒ̈ܕܝܗܘܢ ܕܬܒܘ ܡܢ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗܘܢ ܒܝܫ̈ܬܐ ܘܐܗܦܟ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܚܡܬܐ ܕܪܘܓܙܗ ܘܠܐ ܐܘܒܕ ܐܢܘܢ
wkhz' 'lh' ebdyhwn dthbw mn 'wrkhthhwn byshth' w'hpk mnhwn khmth' drwgzh wl' 'wbd 'nwn
God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way. God relented of the disaster which he said he would do to them, and he didn’t do it.
