ܘܛܝܒ ܡܪܝܐ ܢܘܢܐ ܪܒܐ ܘܒܠܥܗ ܠܝܘܢܢ ܘܗܘܐ ܝܘܢܢ ܒܡ̈ܥܘܗܝ ܕܢܘܢܐ ܬܠܬܐ ܐܝ̈ܡܡܝܢ ܘܬܠܬܐ ܠܝ̈ܠܘܢ
lylwn wthlth' 'ymmyn thlth' dnwn' bmewhy ywnn whw' lywnn wbleh rb' nwn' mry' wTyb
Then Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God, out of the fish’s belly.

ܘܨܠܝ ܝܘܢܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܗ ܡܢ ܡ̈ܥܘܗܝ ܕܢܘܢܐ
dnwn' mewhy mn 'lhh mry' qdm ywnn wtsly
He said, “I called because of my affliction to Yahweh. He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried. You heard my voice.

ܘܐܡܪ ܩܪܝܬ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܒܥܩܬܝ ܘܥܢܢܝ ܡܢ ܟܪܣܗ̇ ܕܫܝܘܠ ܓܥܝܬ ܘܫܡܥܬ ܒܩܠܝ
bqly wshmeth geyth dshywl krsh mn wenny beqthy lmry' qryth w'mr
For you threw me into the depths, in the heart of the seas. The flood was all around me. All your waves and your billows passed over me.

ܘܐܪܡܝܬܢܝ ܒܥܘܡܩܐ ܒܠܒܗ ܕܝܡܐ ܘܢܗܪܐ ܚܕܪܢܝ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܡܚ̈ܫܘܠܝܟ ܘ̈ܓܠܠܝܟ ܥܠܝ ܥܒܪܘ
ebrw ely wgllyk mkhshwlyk klhwn khdrny wnhr' dym' blbh bewmq' w'rmythny
I said, ‘I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.’

ܐܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪܬ ܕܐܬܪܚܩܬ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܥܝ̈ܢܝܟ ܡܟܝܠ ܡܘܣܦ ܐܢܐ ܠܡܚܙܐ ܗܝܟܠܟ ܩܕܝܫܐ
qdysh' hyklk lmkhz' 'n' mwsp mkyl eynyk qdm mn d'thrkhqth 'mrth dyn 'n'
The waters surrounded me, even to the soul. The deep was around me. The weeds were wrapped around my head.

ܚܕܪܘܢܝ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܢܦܫܐ ܘܬܗܘܡܐ ܟܪܟܢܝ ܘܒܐܫܬܗ ܕܝܡܐ ܐܬܚܒܫ ܪܝܫܝ
ryshy 'thkhbsh dym' wb'shthh krkny wthhwm' lnpsh' edm' my' khdrwny
I went down to the bottoms of the mountains. The earth barred me in forever; yet you have brought my life up from the pit, Yahweh my God.

ܘܠܐܫܬܗܘܢ ܕܛܘܪ̈ܐ ܢܚܬܬ ܘܐܪܥܐ ܐܚܕܬ ܣܘܟܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܒܐ̈ܦܝ ܠܥܠܡ ܘܐܣܩܬ ܚܝ̈ܝ ܡܢ ܚܒܠܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܝ
'lhy mry' khbl' mn khyy w'sqth lelm b'py swkryh 'khdth w're' nkhthth dTwr' wl'shthhwn
“When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Yahweh. My prayer came in to you, into your holy temple.

ܟܕ ܐܬܛܪܦܬ ܢܦܫܝ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܐܬܕܟܪܬ ܘܥܠܬ ܩܕܡܝܟ ܨܠܘܬܝ ܠܗܝܟܠܟ ܩܕܝܫܐ
qdysh' lhyklk tslwthy qdmyk welth 'thdkrth lmry' npshy 'thTrpth kd
Those who regard vain idols forsake their own mercy.

ܟܘܠ ܕܢܛܪܝܢ ܕܚ̈ܠܬܐ ܣܪ̈ܝܩܬܐ ܡܪܚܡܢܘܬܟ ܫܒܩܝܢ
shbqyn mrkhmnwthk sryqth' dkhlth' dnTryn kwl
But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation belongs to Yahweh.”

ܐܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܒܩܠܐ ܕܬܘܕܝܬܐ ܐܕܒܚ ܠܟ ܘܡܕܡ ܕܢܕܪܬ ܐܫܠܡ ܦܘܪܥܢܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ
lmry' pwren' 'shlm dndrth wmdm lk 'dbkh dthwdyth' bql' dyn 'n'
Then Yahweh spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah on the dry land.

ܘܦܩܕ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܢܘܢܐ ܘܦܠܛܗ ܠܝܘܢܢ ܠܝܒܫܐ
