ܒܨܦܪܐ ܕܝܢ ܬܘܒ ܐܬܐ ܠܗܝܟܠܐ ܘܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܐܬܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܘܬܗ ܘܟܕ ܝܬܒ ܡܠܦ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ

Now very early in the morning, he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him. He sat down, and taught them.

ܐܝܬܝܘ ܕܝܢ ܣܦܪܐ ܘܦܪܝܫܐ ܠܐܢܬܬܐ ܕܐܬܬܚܕܬ ܒܓܘܪܐ ܘܟܕ ܐܩܝܡܘܗ ܒܡܨܥܬܐ
'ythyw dyn spr' wprysh' l'nthth' d'ththkhdth bgwr' wkd 'qymwh bmtseth'
The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman taken in adultery. Having set her in the middle,

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܡܠܦܢܐ ܗܕܐ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܐܬܬܚܕܬ ܓܠܝܐܝܬ ܒܗ ܒܣܘܥܪܢܐ ܕܓܘܪܐ
'mryn lh mlpn' hd' 'nthth' 'ththkhdth gly'yth bh bswern' dgwr'
they told him, “Teacher, we found this woman in adultery, in the very act.

ܘܒܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܡܘܫܐ ܦܩܕ ܕܠܕܐܝܟ ܗܠܝܢ ܢܪܓܘܡ ܐܢܬ ܗܟܝܠ ܡܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܬ
wbnmws' dyn dmwsh' pqd dld'yk hlyn nrgwm 'nth hkyl mn' 'mr 'nth
Now in our law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. What then do you say about her?”

ܗܕܐ ܐܡܪܘ ܟܕ ܡܢܣܝܢ ܠܗ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܬܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܢܩܛܪܓܘܢܝܗܝ ܝܫܘܥ ܕܝܢ ܟܕ ܠܬܚܬ ܐܬܓܗܢ ܡܟܬܒ ܗܘܐ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ

They said this testing him, that they might have something to accuse him of.
But Jesus stooped down, and wrote on the ground with his finger.

ܟܕ ܕܝܢ ܟܬܪܘ ܟܕ ܡܫܐܠܝܢ ܠܗ ܐܬܦܫܛ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܝܢܐ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܕܠܐ ܚܛܗ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܢܫܕܐ ܥܠܝܗ ܟܐܦܐ

But when they continued asking him, he looked up and said to them,
“He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone at her.”

ܘܬܘܒ ܟܕ ܐܬܓܗܢ ܟܬܒ ܗܘܐ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ

Again he stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground.

ܗܢܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܟܕ ܫܡܥܘ ܢܦܩܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܚܕ ܚܕ ܟܕ ܫܪܝܘ ܡܢ ܩܫܝܫܐ ܘܐܫܬܒܩܬ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܠܚܘܕܝܗ ܟܕ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܒܡܨܥܬܐ
hnwn dyn kd shmew npqyn hww khd khd kd shryw mn qshysh' w'shthbqth 'nthth' lkhwdyh kd 'ythyh bmtseth'
They, when they heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning from the oldest, even to the last. Jesus was left alone with the woman where she was, in the middle.

ܟܕ ܕܝܢ ܐܬܦܫܛ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܠܐܢܬܬܐ ܐܝܟܐ ܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܐܢܫ ܚܝܒܟܝ

Jesus, standing up, saw her and said,
“Woman, where are your accusers? Did no one condemn you?”

ܗܝ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪܬ ܘܠܐ ܐܢܫ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܡܪ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܦܠܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܚܝܒ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܝ ܙܠܝ ܘܡܢ ܗܫܐ ܬܘܒ ܠܐ ܬܚܛܝܢ

She said, “No one, Lord.”
Jesus said,
“Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more.”

ܬܘܒ ܕܝܢ ܡܠܠ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܢܘܗܪܗ ܕܥܠܡܐ ܡܢ ܕܒܬܪܝ ܐܬܐ ܠܐ ܢܗܠܟ ܒܚܫܘܟܐ ܐܠܐ ܢܫܟܚ ܠܗ ܢܘܗܪܐ ܕܚܝܐ

Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying,
“I am the light of the world.
He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܐܢܬ ܥܠ ܢܦܫܟ ܡܣܗܕ ܐܢܬ ܣܗܕܘܬܟ ܠܐ ܗܘܬ ܫܪܝܪܐ

The Pharisees therefore said to him, “You testify about yourself. Your testimony is not valid.”

ܥܢܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܦܢ ܐܢܐ ܡܣܗܕ ܐܢܐ ܥܠ ܢܦܫܝ ܫܪܝܪܐ ܗܝ ܣܗܕܘܬܝ ܡܛܠ ܕܝܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܡܢ ܐܝܡܟܐ ܐܬܝܬ ܘܠܐܝܟܐ ܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܝܡܟܐ ܐܬܝܬ ܘܠܐ ܠܐܝܟܐ ܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ

Jesus answered them,
“Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from, and where I am going; but you don’t know where I came from, or where I am going.

ܐܢܬܘܢ ܦܓܪܢܐܝܬ ܕܝܢܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܢܐ ܠܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܕܐܢ ܐܢܐ
'nthwn pgrn'yth dynyn 'nthwn 'n' l'nsh l' d'n 'n'
You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.

ܘܐܢ ܕܐܢ ܐܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܝܢܝ ܫܪܝܪ ܗܘ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܒܠܚܘܕܝ ܐܠܐ ܐܢܐ ܘܐܒܝ ܕܫܕܪܢܝ
w'n d'n 'n' dyn dyny shryr hw mTl dl' hwyth blkhwdy 'l' 'n' w'by dshdrny
Even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent me.

ܘܒܢܡܘܣܟܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܟܬܝܒ ܕܣܗܕܘܬܐ ܕܬܪܝܢ ܓܒܪܝܢ ܫܪܝܪܐ ܗܝ
wbnmwskwn dyn kthyb dshdwth' dthryn gbryn shryr' hy
It’s also written in your law that the testimony of two people is valid.

ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܣܗܕ ܐܢܐ ܥܠ ܢܦܫܝ ܘܐܒܝ ܕܫܕܪܢܝ ܣܗܕ ܥܠܝ
'n' 'n' dshd 'n' el npshy w'by dshdrny shd ely
I am one who testifies about myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me.”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܐܝܟܘ ܐܒܘܟ ܥܢܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܠܝ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܠܐܒܝ ܐܠܘ ܠܝ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܐܦ ܠܐܒܝ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ
'mryn lh 'ykw 'bwk en' yshwe w'mr lhwn wl' ly ydeyn 'nthwn wl' l'by 'lw ly ydeyn hwythwn 'p l'by ydeyn hwythwn
They said therefore to him, “Where is your Father?”
Jesus answered,
“You know neither me, nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.”

ܗܠܝܢ ܡܠܐ ܡܠܠ ܒܝܬ ܓܙܐ ܟܕ ܡܠܦ ܒܗܝܟܠܐ ܘܠܐ ܐܢܫ ܐܚܕܗ ܠܐ ܓܝܪ ܥܕܟܝܠ ܐܬܬ ܗܘܬ ܫܥܬܗ

Jesus spoke these words in the treasury, as he taught in the temple. Yet no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܬܘܒ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܢܐ ܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ ܘܬܒܥܘܢܢܝ ܘܬܡܘܬܘܢ ܒܚܛܗܝܟܘܢ ܘܐܝܟܐ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܐܬܐ
'mr lhwn thwb yshwe 'n' 'zl 'n' wthbewnny wthmwthwn bkhThykwn w'yk' d'n' 'zl 'n' 'nthwn l' mshkkhyn 'nthwn lm'th'
Jesus said therefore again to them,
“I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sins. Where I go, you can’t come.”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܠܡܐ ܟܝ ܢܦܫܗ ܩܛܠ ܕܐܡܪ ܕܐܝܟܐ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܐܬܐ
'mryn yhwdy' lm' ky npshh qTl d'mr d'yk' d'n' 'zl 'n' 'nthwn l' mshkkhyn 'nthwn lm'th'
The Jews therefore said, “Will he kill himself, because he says,
‘Where I am going, you can’t come’?”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܢ ܕܠܬܚܬ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܐܢܐ ܡܢ ܕܠܥܠ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܢ ܗܢܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܠܡܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܡܢ ܗܢܐ ܥܠܡܐ
w'mr lhwn 'nthwn mn dlthkhth 'nthwn w'n' mn dlel 'n' 'nthwn mn hn' 'nthwn elm' 'n' l' hwyth mn hn' elm'
He said to them,
“You are from beneath. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world.

ܐܡܪܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܬܡܘܬܘܢ ܒܚܛܗܝܟܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܓܝܪ ܬܗܝܡܢܘܢ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܬܡܘܬܘܢ ܒܚܛܗܝܟܘܢ
'mrth lkwn dthmwthwn bkhThykwn 'l' gyr thhymnwn d'n' 'n' thmwthwn bkhThykwn
I said therefore to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am
he, you will die in your sins.”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܐܢܬ ܡܢ ܐܢܬ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܦܢ ܕܫܪܝܬ ܕܐܡܠܠ ܥܡܟܘܢ
'mryn yhwdy' 'nth mn 'nth 'mr lhwn yshwe 'pn dshryth d'mll emkwn
They said therefore to him, “Who are you?”
Jesus said to them,
“Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning.

ܣܓܝ ܐܝܬ ܠܝ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܠܡܐܡܪ ܘܠܡܕܢ ܐܠܐ ܡܢ ܕܫܕܪܢܝ ܫܪܝܪ ܗܘ ܘܐܢܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܫܡܥܬ ܡܢܗ ܗܠܝܢ ܗܘ ܡܡܠܠ ܐܢܐ ܒܥܠܡܐ

I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you. However he who sent me is true; and the things which I heard from him, these I say to the world.”

ܘܠܐ ܝܕܥܘ ܕܥܠ ܐܒܐ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ

They didn’t understand that he spoke to them about the Father.

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܬܘܒ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܬܝ ܕܬܪܝܡܘܢܗ ܠܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܗܝܕܝܢ ܬܕܥܘܢ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܘܡܕܡ ܡܢ ܨܒܘܬ ܢܦܫܝ ܠܐ ܥܒܕ ܐܢܐ ܐܠܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܠܦܢܝ ܐܒܝ ܗܟܘܬ ܗܘ ܡܡܠܠ ܐܢܐ
'mr lhwn thwb yshwe 'mthy dthrymwnh lbrh d'nsh' hydyn thdewn d'n' 'n' wmdm mn tsbwth npshy l' ebd 'n' 'l' 'ykn' d'lpny 'by hkwth hw mmll 'n'
Jesus therefore said to them,
“When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and I do nothing of myself, but as my Father taught me, I say these things.

ܘܡܢ ܕܫܕܪܢܝ ܥܡܝ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܘܠܐ ܫܒܩܢܝ ܒܠܚܘܕܝ ܐܒܝ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܢܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܫܦܪ ܠܗ ܥܒܕ ܐܢܐ ܒܟܠܙܒܢ
wmn dshdrny emy 'ythwhy wl' shbqny blkhwdy 'by mTl d'n' mdm dshpr lh ebd 'n' bklzbn
He who sent me is with me. The Father hasn’t left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.”

ܟܕ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܡܠܠ ܗܘܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܗܝܡܢܘ ܒܗ

As he spoke these things, many believed in him.

ܘܐܡܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܗܢܘܢ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘ ܒܗ ܐܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܬܟܬܪܘܢ ܒܡܠܬܝ ܫܪܝܪܐܝܬ ܬܠܡܝܕܝ ܐܢܬܘܢ
w'mr yshwe lhnwn yhwdy' dhymnw bh 'n 'nthwn thkthrwn bmlthy shryr'yth thlmydy 'nthwn
Jesus therefore said to those Jews who had believed him,
“If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples.

ܘܬܕܥܘܢ ܫܪܪܐ ܘܗܘ ܫܪܪܐ ܢܚܪܪܟܘܢ
wthdewn shrr' whw shrr' nkhrrkwn
You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܙܪܥܗ ܚܢܢ ܕܐܒܪܗܡ ܘܡܢ ܡܬܘܡ ܥܒܕܘܬܐ ܠܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܦܠܝܚܐ ܠܢ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܬ ܕܬܗܘܘܢ ܒܢܝ ܚܐܪܐ
'mryn lh zreh khnn d'brhm wmn mthwm ebdwth' l'nsh l' plykh' ln 'ykn' 'mr 'nth dthhwwn bny kh'r'
They answered him, “We are Abraham’s offspring, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How do you say,
‘You will be made free’?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܟܠܡܢ ܕܥܒܕ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܥܒܕܗ ܗܘ ܕܚܛܝܬܐ
'mr lhwn yshwe 'myn 'myn 'mrn' lkwn dklmn debd khTyth' ebdh hw dkhTyth'
Jesus answered them,
“Most certainly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is the bondservant of sin.

ܘܥܒܕܐ ܠܐ ܡܩܘܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܒܒܝܬܐ ܒܪܐ ܕܝܢ ܠܥܠܡ ܡܩܘܐ

A bondservant doesn’t live in the house forever. A son remains forever.

ܐܢ ܗܘ ܗܟܝܠ ܕܒܪܐ ܢܚܪܪܟܘܢ ܫܪܝܪܐܝܬ ܬܗܘܘܢ ܒܢܝ ܚܐܪܐ
'n hw hkyl dbr' nkhrrkwn shryr'yth thhwwn bny kh'r'
If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

ܝܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܕܙܪܥܗ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܐܒܪܗܡ ܐܠܐ ܒܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܩܛܠܢܝ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܡܠܬܝ ܠܐ ܣܦܩܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ
yde 'n' dzreh 'nthwn d'brhm 'l' beyn 'nthwn lmqTlny mTl dlmlthy l' spqyn 'nthwn
I know that you are Abraham’s offspring, yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you.

ܐܢܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܚܙܝܬ ܠܘܬ ܐܒܝ ܡܡܠܠ ܐܢܐ ܘܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܕܡ ܕܚܙܝܬܘܢ ܠܘܬ ܐܒܘܟܘܢ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ
'n' mdm dkhzyth lwth 'by mmll 'n' w'nthwn mdm dkhzythwn lwth 'bwkwn ebdyn 'nthwn
I say the things which I have seen with my Father; and you also do the things which you have seen with your father.”

ܥܢܘ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܐܒܘܢ ܕܝܠܢ ܐܒܪܗܡ ܗܘ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܠܘ ܒܢܘܗܝ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܕܐܒܪܗܡ ܥܒܕܘܗܝ ܕܐܒܪܗܡ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ
enw w'mryn lh 'bwn dyln 'brhm hw 'mr lhwn yshwe 'lw bnwhy hwythwn d'brhm ebdwhy d'brhm ebdyn hwythwn
They answered him, “Our father is Abraham.”
Jesus said to them,
“If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham.

ܗܫܐ ܕܝܢ ܗܐ ܒܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܩܛܠܢܝ ܠܓܒܪܐ ܕܫܪܝܪܬܐ ܡܠܠܬ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܫܡܥܬ ܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܗܕܐ ܐܒܪܗܡ ܠܐ ܥܒܕ
hsh' dyn h' beyn 'nthwn lmqTlny lgbr' dshryrth' mllth emkwn 'yd' dshmeth mn 'lh' hd' 'brhm l' ebd
But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God. Abraham didn’t do this.

ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܒܕܐ ܕܐܒܘܟܘܢ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܚܢܢ ܡܢ ܙܢܝܘܬܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܝܢ ܚܕ ܐܒܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܢ ܐܠܗܐ
'nthwn dyn ebdyn 'nthwn ebd' d'bwkwn 'mryn lh khnn mn znywth' l' hwyn khd 'b' 'yth ln 'lh'
You do the works of your father.”
They said to him, “We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father, God.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܠܘ ܐܠܗܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܒܘܟܘܢ ܡܚܒܝܢ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܠܝ ܐܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܢܦܩܬ ܘܐܬܝܬ ܘܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܨܒܘܬ ܢܦܫܝ ܐܬܝܬ ܐܠܐ ܗܘ ܫܕܪܢܝ

Therefore Jesus said to them,
“If God were your father, you would love me, for I came out and have come from God. For I haven’t come of myself, but he sent me.

Why don’t you understand my speech? Because you can’t hear my word.

ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܒܐ ܐܟܠܩܪܨܐ ܐܝܬܝܟܘܢ ܘܪܓܬܗ ܕܐܒܘܟܘܢ ܨܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܥܒܕ ܗܘ ܕܡܢ ܒܪܫܝܬ ܩܛܠ ܐܢܫܐ ܗܘ ܘܒܫܪܪܐ ܠܐ ܩܐܡ ܡܛܠ ܕܫܪܪܐ ܠܝܬ ܒܗ ܐܡܬܝ ܕܡܡܠܠ ܟܕܒܘܬܐ ܡܢ ܕܝܠܗ ܗܘ ܡܡܠܠ ܡܛܠ ܕܕܓܠܐ ܗܘ ܐܦ ܐܒܘܗ

You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn’t stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and the father of lies.

ܐܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܫܪܪܐ ܡܡܠܠ ܐܢܐ ܠܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܝ

But because I tell the truth, you don’t believe me.

ܡܢܘ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܡܟܣ ܠܝ ܥܠ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܘܐܢ ܫܪܪܐ ܡܡܠܠ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܢܐ ܠܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܝ
mnw mnkwn mks ly el khTyth' w'n shrr' mmll 'n' 'nthwn lmn' l' mhymnyn 'nthwn ly
Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?

ܡܢ ܕܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܡܠܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܫܡܥ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܐ ܫܡܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ
mn dmn 'lh' 'ythwhy ml' d'lh' shme mTl hn' 'nthwn l' shmeyn 'nthwn mTl dl' hwythwn mn 'lh'
He who is of God hears the words of God. For this cause you don’t hear, because you are not of God.”

ܥܢܘ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܠܐ ܫܦܝܪ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܐܢܚܢܢ ܕܫܡܪܝܐ ܐܢܬ ܘܕܝܘܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܟ

Then the Jews answered him, “Don’t we say well that you are a Samaritan, and have a demon?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܝ ܕܝܘܐ ܠܐ ܐܝܬ ܐܠܐ ܠܐܒܝ ܡܝܩܪ ܐܢܐ ܘܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܨܥܪܝܢ ܠܝ
'mr lhwn yshwe ly dyw' l' 'yth 'l' l'by myqr 'n' w'nthwn mtseryn ly
Jesus answered,
“I don’t have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.

ܐܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܒܥܐ ܐܢܐ ܫܘܒܚܝ ܐܝܬ ܗܘ ܕܒܥܐ ܘܕܐܢ
'n' dyn l' be' 'n' shwbkhy 'yth hw dbe' wd'n
But I don’t seek my own glory. There is one who seeks and judges.

ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܡܢ ܕܡܠܬܝ ܢܛܪ ܡܘܬܐ ܠܐ ܢܚܙܐ ܠܥܠܡ
'myn 'myn 'mr 'n' lkwn dmn dmlthy nTr mwth' l' nkhz' lelm
Most certainly, I tell you, if a person keeps my word, he will never see death.”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܗܫܐ ܝܕܥܢ ܕܕܝܘܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܟ ܐܒܪܗܡ ܡܝܬ ܘܢܒܝܐ ܘܐܢܬ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܬ ܕܡܢ ܕܡܠܬܝ ܢܛܪ ܡܘܬܐ ܠܐ ܢܛܥܡ ܠܥܠܡ
'mryn lh yhwdy' hsh' yden ddyw' 'yth lk 'brhm myth wnby' w'nth 'mr 'nth dmn dmlthy nTr mwth' l' nTem lelm
Then the Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets; and you say,
‘If a man keeps my word, he will never taste of death.’

ܠܡܐ ܐܢܬ ܪܒ ܐܢܬ ܡܢ ܐܒܘܢ ܐܒܪܗܡ ܕܡܝܬ ܘܡܢ ܢܒܝܐ ܕܡܝܬܘ ܡܢܘ ܥܒܕ ܐܢܬ ܢܦܫܟ

Are you greater than our father, Abraham, who died? The prophets died. Who do you make yourself out to be?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܢ ܐܢܐ ܡܫܒܚ ܐܢܐ ܢܦܫܝ ܫܘܒܚܝ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܕܡ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܐܒܝ ܕܡܫܒܚ ܠܝ ܗܘ ܕܐܡܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܐܠܗܢ ܗܘ
'mr lhwn yshwe 'n 'n' mshbkh 'n' npshy shwbkhy l' hw' mdm 'ythwhy 'by dmshbkh ly hw d'mryn 'nthwn d'lhn hw
Jesus answered,
“If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say that he is our God.

ܘܠܐ ܝܕܥܬܘܢܝܗܝ ܐܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܠܗ ܘܐܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܠܗ ܗܘܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܝ ܟܕܒܐ ܐܟܘܬܟܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܠܗ ܘܡܠܬܗ ܢܛܪ ܐܢܐ
wl' ydethwnyhy 'n' dyn yde 'n' lh w'n 'mr 'n' dl' yde 'n' lh hw' 'n' ly kdb' 'kwthkwn 'l' yde 'n' lh wmlthh nTr 'n'
You have not known him, but I know him. If I said, ‘I don’t know him,’ I would be like you, a liar. But I know him, and keep his word.

ܐܒܪܗܡ ܐܒܘܟܘܢ ܡܣܘܚ ܗܘܐ ܕܢܚܙܐ ܝܘܡܝ ܘܚܙܐ ܘܚܕܝ
'brhm 'bwkwn mswkh hw' dnkhz' ywmy wkhz' wkhdy
Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day. He saw it, and was glad.”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܥܕܟܝܠ ܒܪ ܚܡܫܝܢ ܫܢܝܢ ܠܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܘܠܐܒܪܗܡ ܚܙܝܬ
'mryn lh yhwdy' edkyl br khmshyn shnyn l' hwyth wl'brhm khzyth
The Jews therefore said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܥܕܠܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܐܒܪܗܡ ܐܢܐ ܐܝܬܝ
'mr lhwn yshwe 'myn 'myn 'mr 'n' lkwn dedl' nhw' 'brhm 'n' 'ythy
Jesus said to them,
“Most certainly, I tell you, before Abraham came into existence, I AM.”

ܘܫܩܠܘ ܟܐܦܐ ܕܢܪܓܡܘܢܝܗܝ ܘܝܫܘܥ ܐܬܛܫܝ ܘܢܦܩ ܡܢ ܗܝܟܠܐ ܘܥܒܪ ܒܝܢܬܗܘܢ ܘܐܙܠ

Therefore they took up stones to throw at him, but Jesus was hidden, and went out of the temple, having gone through the middle of them, and so passed by.
