Therefore when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John

he left Judea, and departed into Galilee.

ܡܥܒܕܐ ܗܘܬ ܠܗ ܕܝܢ ܕܢܐܬܐ ܢܥܒܪ ܥܠ ܒܝܬ ܫܡܪܝܐ

He needed to pass through Samaria.

ܘܐܬܐ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܕܫܡܪܝܐ ܕܡܬܩܪܝܐ ܫܟܪ ܥܠ ܓܢܒ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܕܝܗܒ ܗܘܐ ܝܥܩܘܒ ܠܝܘܣܦ ܒܪܗ

So he came to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son, Joseph.

ܘܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܬܡܢ ܡܥܝܢܐ ܕܡܝܐ ܕܝܥܩܘܒ ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܐܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܥܡܠܐ ܕܐܘܪܚܐ ܘܝܬܒ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܥܠ ܡܥܝܢܐ ܘܐܝܬ ܗܘܝ ܫܬ ܫܥܝܢ

Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being tired from his journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.

A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her,
“Give me a drink.”

ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܓܝܪ ܥܠܘ ܗܘܘ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܕܢܙܒܢܘܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܣܝܒܪܬܐ

For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.

ܐܡܪܐ ܠܗ ܗܝ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܫܡܪܝܬܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܐܢܬ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܐܢܬ ܘܡܢܝ ܫܐܠ ܐܢܬ ܠܡܫܬܐ ܕܐܝܬܝ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܫܡܪܝܬܐ ܠܐ ܓܝܪ ܡܬܚܫܚܝܢ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܥܡ ܫܡܪܝܐ

The Samaritan woman therefore said to him, “How is it that you, being a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)

ܥܢܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܠܘ ܝܕܥܐ ܗܘܝܬܝ ܡܘܗܒܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܡܢܘ ܗܢܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܟܝ ܗܒ ܠܝ ܐܫܬܐ ܐܢܬܝ ܫܐܠܐ ܗܘܝܬܝ ܠܗ ܘܝܗܒ ܗܘܐ ܠܟܝ ܡܝܐ ܚܝܐ

Jesus answered her,
“If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”

ܐܡܪܐ ܠܗ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܗܝ ܡܪܝ ܠܐ ܕܘܠܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܟ ܘܒܪܐ ܥܡܝܩܐ ܐܝܡܟܐ ܠܟ ܡܝܐ ܚܝܐ

The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. So where do you get that living water?

Are you greater than our father, Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself, as did his children, and his livestock?”

ܥܢܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܟܠ ܕܢܫܬܐ ܡܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܝܐ ܬܘܒ ܢܨܗܐ

Jesus answered her,
“Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again,

ܟܠ ܕܝܢ ܕܢܫܬܐ ܡܢ ܡܝܐ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܬܠ ܠܗ ܠܐ ܢܨܗܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܐܠܐ ܡܝܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܝܗܒ ܐܢܐ ܠܗ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܒܗ ܡܥܝܢܐ ܕܡܝܐ ܕܢܒܥܝܢ ܠܚܝܐ ܕܠܥܠܡ

but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst again; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”

ܐܡܪܐ ܠܗ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܗܝ ܡܪܝ ܗܒ ܠܝ ܡܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܝܐ ܕܠܐ ܬܘܒ ܐܨܗܐ ܘܠܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܐܬܝܐ ܕܠܝܐ ܡܢ ܗܪܟܐ

The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I don’t get thirsty, neither come all the way here to draw.”

Jesus said to her,
“Go, call your husband, and come here.”

ܐܡܪܐ ܠܗ ܠܝܬ ܠܝ ܒܥܠܐ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܫܦܝܪ ܐܡܪܬܝ ܕܠܝܬ ܠܝ ܒܥܠܐ

The woman answered, “I have no husband.”
Jesus said to her,
“You said well, ‘I have no husband,’

ܚܡܫܐ ܓܝܪ ܒܥܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܟܝ ܘܗܢܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܟܝ ܗܫܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܥܠܟܝ ܗܕܐ ܫܪܝܪܬܐ ܐܡܪܬܝ

for you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband. This you have said truly.”

The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.

ܐܒܗܝܢ ܒܗܢܐ ܛܘܪܐ ܣܓܕܘ ܘܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܗܘ ܐܬܪ ܕܘܠܐ ܠܡܣܓܕ

Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܗܝܡܢܝܢܝ ܕܐܬܝܐ ܫܥܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܒܗܢܐ ܛܘܪܐ ܘܐܦ ܠܐ ܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܬܣܓܕܘܢ ܠܐܒܐ

Jesus said to her,
“Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, will you worship the Father.

ܐܢܬܘܢ ܣܓܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܕܡ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܚܢܢ ܕܝܢ ܣܓܕܝܢ ܚܢܢ ܠܡܐ ܕܝܕܥܝܢ ܚܢܢ ܕܚܝܐ ܡܢ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܐܢܘܢ
'nthwn sgdyn 'nthwn lmdm dl' ydeyn 'nthwn khnn dyn sgdyn khnn lm' dydeyn khnn dkhy' mn yhwdy' 'nwn
You worship that which you don’t know. We worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.

ܐܠܐ ܐܬܝܐ ܫܥܬܐ ܘܗܫܐ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܐܡܬܝ ܕܣܓܘܕܐ ܫܪܝܪܐ ܢܣܓܕܘܢ ܠܐܒܐ ܒܪܘܚܐ ܘܒܫܪܪܐ ܐܦ ܐܒܐ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܝܟ ܗܠܝܢ ܗܘ ܣܓܘܕܐ ܒܥܐ
'l' 'thy' sheth' whsh' 'ythyh 'mthy dsgwd' shryr' nsgdwn l'b' brwkh' wbshrr' 'p 'b' gyr d'yk hlyn hw sgwd' be'
But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshipers.

ܪܘܚܐ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܣܓܕܝܢ ܠܗ ܒܪܘܚܐ ܘܒܫܪܪܐ ܘܠܐ ܕܢܣܓܕܘܢ

God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

ܐܡܪܐ ܠܗ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܗܝ ܝܕܥܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܡܫܝܚܐ ܐܬܐ ܘܡܐ ܕܐܬܐ ܗܘ ܡܠܦ ܠܢ ܟܠܡܕܡ

The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah comes, he who is called Christ. When he has come, he will declare to us all things.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܡܡܠܠ ܐܢܐ ܥܡܟܝ

Jesus said to her,
“I am he, the one who speaks to you.”

ܘܟܕ ܡܡܠܠ ܐܬܘ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܡܬܕܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܕܥܡ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܡܡܠܠ ܠܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܢܫ ܐܡܪ ܡܢܐ ܒܥܐ ܐܢܬ ܐܘ ܡܢܐ ܡܡܠܠ ܐܢܬ ܥܡܗ

At this, his disciples came. They marveled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no one said, “What are you looking for?” or, “Why do you speak with her?”

ܘܫܒܩܬ ܩܘܠܬܗ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܘܐܙܠܬ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܘܐܡܪܐ ܠܐܢܫܐ

So the woman left her water pot, and went away into the city, and said to the people,

ܬܘ ܚܙܘ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܝ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕܬ ܠܡܐ ܗܘܝܘ ܡܫܝܚܐ

“Come, see a man who told me everything that I did. Can this be the Christ?”

ܘܢܦܩܘ ܐܢܫܐ ܡܢ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܘܐܬܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܘܬܗ

They went out of the city, and were coming to him.

ܘܒܝܢܬ ܗܠܝܢ ܒܥܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܡܢܗ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܪܒܢ ܠܥܣ

In the meanwhile, the disciples urged him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܝܬ ܠܝ ܡܐܟܘܠܬܐ ܕܐܟܘܠ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ

But he said to them,
“I have food to eat that you don’t know about.”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܬܠܡܝܕܐ ܒܝܢܝܗܘܢ ܠܡܐ ܐܢܫ ܐܝܬܝ ܠܗ ܡܕܡ ܠܡܐܟܠ

The disciples therefore said to one another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܐܟܘܠܬܝ ܕܝܠܝ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܕܐܥܒܕ ܨܒܝܢܗ ܕܡܢ ܕܫܕܪܢܝ ܘܐܫܠܡܝܘܗܝ ܠܥܒܕܗ

Jesus said to them,
“My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to accomplish his work.

ܠܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܕܒܬܪ ܐܪܒܥܐ ܝܪܚܝܢ ܐܬܐ ܚܨܕܐ ܗܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܐܪܝܡܘ ܥܝܢܝܟܘܢ ܘܚܙܘ ܐܪܥܬܐ ܕܚܘܪ ܘܡܛܝ ܠܚܨܕܐ ܡܢ ܟܕܘ
l' 'nthwn 'mryn dbthr 'rbe' yrkhyn 'th' khtsd' h' 'mr 'n' lkwn d'rymw eynykwn wkhzw 'reth' dkhwr wmTy lkhtsd' mn kdw
Don’t you say, ‘There are yet four months until the harvest?’ Behold, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and look at the fields, that they are white for harvest already.

ܘܐܝܢܐ ܕܚܨܕ ܐܓܪܐ ܢܣܒ ܘܟܢܫ ܦܐܪܐ ܠܚܝܐ ܕܠܥܠܡ ܘܙܪܘܥܐ ܘܚܨܘܕܐ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܢܚܕܘܢ

He who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit to eternal life; that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.

ܒܗܕܐ ܓܝܪ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܫܪܪܐ ܕܐܚܪܝܢ ܗܘ ܙܪܥ ܘܐܚܪܝܢ ܚܨܕ

For in this the saying is true, ‘One sows, and another reaps.’

ܐܢܐ ܫܕܪܬܟܘܢ ܠܡܚܨܕ ܡܕܡ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܐܝܬܘܢ ܒܗ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܠܐܝܘ ܘܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܠܬܘܢ ܥܠ ܥܡܠܗܘܢ ܕܗܢܘܢ
'n' shdrthkwn lmkhtsd mdm dl' hw' 'nthwn l'ythwn bh 'khrn' gyr l'yw w'nthwn elthwn el emlhwn dhnwn
I sent you to reap that for which you haven’t labored. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”

ܡܢ ܗܝ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܗܝܡܢܘ ܒܗ ܫܡܪܝܐ ܡܛܠ ܡܠܬܗ ܕܐܢܬܬܐ ܗܝ ܕܡܣܗܕܐ ܗܘܬ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܝ ܟܠܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕܬ
mn hy mdynth' dyn sgy'' hymnw bh shmry' mTl mlthh d'nthth' hy dmshd' hwth d'mr ly klmdm debdth
From that city many of the Samaritans believed in him because of the word of the woman, who testified, “He told me everything that I did.”

ܘܟܕ ܐܬܘ ܠܘܬܗ ܗܢܘܢ ܫܡܪܝܐ ܒܥܘ ܡܢܗ ܕܢܗܘܐ ܠܘܬܗܘܢ ܘܗܘܐ ܠܘܬܗܘܢ ܬܪܝܢ ܝܘܡܝܢ

So when the Samaritans came to him, they begged him to stay with them. He stayed there two days.

Many more believed because of his word.

ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܐܢܬܬܐ ܗܝ ܕܡܟܝܠ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܛܠ ܡܠܬܟܝ ܡܗܝܡܢܝܢ ܚܢܢ ܒܗ ܚܢܢ ܓܝܪ ܫܡܥܢ ܘܝܕܥܢ ܕܗܢܘ ܫܪܝܪܐܝܬ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܡܚܝܢܗ ܕܥܠܡܐ

They said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of your speaking; for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.”

ܘܒܬܪ ܬܪܝܢ ܝܘܡܝܢ ܢܦܩ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܘܐܙܠ ܠܓܠܝܠܐ

After the two days he went out from there and went into Galilee.

ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܣܗܕ ܕܢܒܝܐ ܒܡܕܝܢܬܗ ܠܐ ܡܬܝܩܪ

For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.

ܟܕ ܕܝܢ ܐܬܐ ܠܓܠܝܠܐ ܩܒܠܘܗܝ ܓܠܝܠܝܐ ܕܚܙܘ ܐܬܘܬܐ ܟܠ ܕܥܒܕ ܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܒܥܕܥܕܐ ܐܬܘ ܗܘܘ ܓܝܪ ܘܐܦ ܗܢܘܢ ܠܥܕܥܕܐ

So when he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast, for they also went to the feast.

ܐܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܬܘܒ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܩܛܢܐ ܕܓܠܝܠܐ ܐܝܟܐ ܕܥܒܕ ܡܝܐ ܚܡܪܐ ܘܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܒܟܦܪܢܚܘܡ ܥܒܕ ܡܠܟܐ ܚܕ ܕܒܪܗ ܟܪܝܗ ܗܘܐ
'th' dyn thwb yshwe lqTn' dglyl' 'yk' debd my' khmr' w'yth hw' bkprnkhwm ebd mlk' khd dbrh kryh hw'
Jesus came therefore again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water into wine. There was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.

ܗܢܐ ܫܡܥ ܕܐܬܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܢ ܝܗܘܕ ܠܓܠܝܠܐ ܘܐܙܠ ܠܘܬܗ ܘܒܥܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢܗ ܕܢܚܘܬ ܘܢܐܣܐ ܠܒܪܗ ܩܪܝܒ ܗܘܐ ܓܝܪ ܠܡܡܬ
hn' shme d'th' yshwe mn yhwd lglyl' w'zl lwthh wbe' hw' mnh dnkhwth wn's' lbrh qryb hw' gyr lmmth
When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to him, and begged him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܢ ܐܬܘܬܐ ܘܬܕܡܪܬܐ ܠܐ ܬܚܙܘܢ ܠܐ ܬܗܝܡܢܘܢ
'mr lh yshwe 'n 'thwth' wthdmrth' l' thkhzwn l' thhymnwn
Jesus therefore said to him,
“Unless you see signs and wonders, you will in no way believe.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܗܘ ܥܒܕ ܡܠܟܐ ܡܪܝ ܚܘܬ ܥܕܠܐ ܡܐܬ ܠܗ ܛܠܝܐ
'mr lh hw ebd mlk' mry khwth edl' m'th lh Tly'
The nobleman said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܙܠ ܒܪܟ ܚܝ ܗܘ ܘܗܝܡܢ ܗܘ ܓܒܪܐ ܒܡܠܬܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܙܠ
'mr lh yshwe zl brk khy hw whymn hw gbr' bmlth' d'mr lh yshwe w'zl
Jesus said to him,
“Go your way. Your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.

ܟܕ ܕܝܢ ܢܚܬ ܗܘܐ ܐܪܥܘܗܝ ܥܒܕܘܗܝ ܘܣܒܪܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܒܪܟ ܚܝܐ
kd dyn nkhth hw' 'rewhy ebdwhy wsbrwhy w'mryn lh brk khy'
As he was now going down, his servants met him and reported, saying “Your child lives!”

ܘܫܐܠ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܐܝܢܐ ܥܕܢܐ ܐܬܚܠܡ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܐܬܡܠܝ ܒܫܒܥ ܫܥܝܢ ܫܒܩܬܗ ܐܫܬܐ
wsh'l 'nwn b'yn' edn' 'thkhlm 'mryn lh 'thmly bshbe sheyn shbqthh 'shth'
So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. They said therefore to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour, the fever left him.”

ܘܝܕܥ ܐܒܘܗܝ ܕܒܗܝ ܫܥܬܐ ܕܒܗ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܕܒܪܟ ܚܝܐ ܘܗܝܡܢ ܗܘ ܘܒܝܬܗ ܟܠܗ
wyde 'bwhy dbhy sheth' dbh 'mr lh yshwe dbrk khy' whymn hw wbythh klh
So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him,
“Your son lives.” He believed, as did his whole house.

ܗܕܐ ܬܘܒ ܐܬܐ ܕܬܪܬܝܢ ܥܒܕ ܝܫܘܥ ܟܕ ܐܬܐ ܡܢ ܝܗܘܕ ܠܓܠܝܠܐ

This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judea into Galilee.
