ܗܠܝܢ ܡܠܠܬ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܕܠܐ ܬܬܟܫܠܘܢ

“I have said these things to you so that you wouldn’t be caused to stumble.

ܢܦܩܘܢܟܘܢ ܓܝܪ ܡܢ ܟܢܘܫܬܗܘܢ ܘܬܐܬܐ ܫܥܬܐ ܕܟܠ ܕܢܩܛܘܠܟܘܢ ܢܣܒܪ ܕܩܘܪܒܢܐ ܡܩܪܒ ܠܐܠܗܐ
l'lh' mqrb dqwrbn' nsbr dnqTwlkwn dkl sheth' wth'th' knwshthhwn mn gyr npqwnkwn
They will put you out of the synagogues. Yes, the time comes that whoever kills you will think that he offers service to God.

ܘܗܠܝܢ ܢܥܒܕܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܥܘ ܘܠܐ ܠܐܒܝ ܘܠܐ ܠܝ
ly wl' l'by wl' ydew dl' mTl nebdwn whlyn
They will do these things
because they have not known the Father, nor me.

ܗܠܝܢ ܡܠܠܬ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܕܡܐ ܕܐܬܐ ܥܕܢܗܝܢ ܬܥܗܕܘܢ ܐܢܝܢ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܡܪܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܝܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܝܡ ܠܐ ܐܡܪܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܥܡܟܘܢ ܗܘܝܬ
hwyth demkwn lkwn 'mrth l' qdym mn dyn hlyn lkwn 'mrth d'n' 'nyn thehdwn ednhyn d'th' dm' emkwn mllth hlyn
But I have told you these things, so that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you about them. I didn’t tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you.

ܗܫܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ ܠܘܬ ܡܢ ܕܫܕܪܢܝ ܘܠܐ ܐܢܫ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܡܫܐܠ ܠܝ ܠܐܝܟܐ ܐܙܠ ܐܢܬ
'nth 'zl l'yk' ly msh'l mnkwn 'nsh wl' dshdrny mn lwth 'n' 'zl dyn hsh'
But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’

ܐܡܪܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܓܝܪ ܗܠܝܢ ܘܐܬܬ ܟܪܝܘܬܐ ܘܡܠܬ ܠܒܘܬܟܘܢ
lbwthkwn wmlth krywth' w'thth hlyn gyr lkwn 'mrth
But because I have told you these things, sorrow has filled your heart.

ܐܠܐ ܐܢܐ ܫܪܪܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܦܩܚ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܙܠ ܐܢ ܓܝܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܐ ܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ ܦܪܩܠܛܐ ܠܐ ܐܬܐ ܠܘܬܟܘܢ ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܐܙܠ ܐܫܕܪܝܘܗܝ ܠܘܬܟܘܢ
lwthkwn 'shdrywhy 'zl dyn 'n lwthkwn 'th' l' prqlT' 'n' 'zl l' 'n' gyr 'n 'zl d'n' lkwn dpqkh lkwn 'n' 'mr shrr' 'n' 'l'
Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I don’t go away, the Counselor won’t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.

ܘܡܐ ܕܐܬܐ ܗܘ ܢܟܣܝܘܗܝ ܠܥܠܡܐ ܥܠ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܘܥܠ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܘܥܠ ܕܝܢܐ
dyn' wel zdyqwth' wel khTyth' el lelm' nksywhy hw d'th' wm'
When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment;

ܥܠ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܠܘܬ ܐܒܝ ܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ ܘܠܐ ܬܘܒ ܚܙܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܝ
ly 'nthwn khzyn thwb wl' 'n' 'zl 'by dlwth dyn zdyqwth' el
about righteousness, because I am going to my Father, and you won’t see me any more;

ܥܠ ܕܝܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܐܪܟܘܢܐ ܕܥܠܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܗܘ
hw dyn hn' delm' d'rkwn' dyn dyn' el
about judgment, because the prince of this world has been judged.

ܬܘܒ ܣܓܝ ܐܝܬ ܠܝ ܠܡܐܡܪ ܠܟܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܐܚܕ ܗܫܐ
hsh' lm'khd 'nthwn mshkkhyn l' 'l' lkwn lm'mr ly 'yth sgy thwb
“I have yet many things to tell you, but you can’t bear them now.

ܡܐ ܕܐܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܫܪܪܐ ܗܘ ܢܕܒܪܟܘܢ ܒܟܠܗ ܫܪܪܐ ܠܐ ܓܝܪ ܢܡܠܠ ܡܢ ܪܥܝܢ ܢܦܫܗ ܐܠܐ ܟܠ ܕܢܫܡܥ ܗܘ ܢܡܠܠ ܘܥܬܝܕܬܐ ܢܘܕܥܟܘܢ
nwdekwn wethydth' nmll hw dnshme kl 'l' npshh reyn mn nmll gyr l' shrr' bklh ndbrkwn hw dshrr' rwkh' dyn d'th' m'
However when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you things that are coming.

ܘܗܘ ܢܫܒܚܢܝ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܢ ܕܝܠܝ ܢܣܒ ܘܢܚܘܝܟܘܢ
wnkhwykwn nsb dyly dmn mTl nshbkhny whw
He will glorify me, for he will take from what is mine, and will declare it to you.

ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܐܒܝ ܕܝܠܝ ܗܘ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܡܪܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܡܢ ܕܝܠܝ ܢܣܒ ܘܢܚܘܝܟܘܢ
wnkhwykwn nsb dyly dmn lkwn 'mrth hn' mTl hw dyly l'by d'yth mdm kl
All things whatever the Father has are mine; therefore I said that he takes
of mine, and will declare it to you.

ܩܠܝܠ ܘܠܐ ܬܚܙܘܢܢܝ ܘܬܘܒ ܩܠܝܠ ܘܬܚܙܘܢܢܝ ܕܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ ܠܘܬ ܐܒܐ
'b' lwth 'n' d'zl wthkhzwnny qlyl wthwb thkhzwnny wl' qlyl
A little while, and you will not see me. Again a little while, and you will see me.”

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܗܘܘ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܚܕ ܠܚܕ ܡܢܐ ܗܝ ܗܕܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܢ ܕܩܠܝܠ ܘܠܐ ܬܚܙܘܢܢܝ ܘܬܘܒ ܩܠܝܠ ܘܬܚܙܘܢܢܝ ܘܕܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ ܠܘܬ ܐܒܝ
'by lwth 'n' wd'zl wthkhzwnny qlyl wthwb thkhzwnny wl' dqlyl ln d'mr hd' hy mn' lkhd khd thlmydwhy hww w'mrw
Some of his disciples therefore said to one another, “What is this that he says to us,
‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me;’ and,
‘Because I go to the Father’?”

ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܡܢܐ ܗܝ ܗܕܐ ܩܠܝܠ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢܢ ܡܢܐ ܡܡܠܠ
mmll mn' ydeynn l' d'mr qlyl hd' hy mn' hww w'mryn
They said therefore, “What is this that he says,
‘A little while’? We don’t know what he is saying.”

ܝܫܘܥ ܕܝܢ ܝܕܥ ܕܒܥܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܡܫܐܠܘܬܗ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܥܠ ܗܕܐ ܒܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܡ ܚܕܕܐ ܕܐܡܪܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܩܠܝܠ ܘܠܐ ܬܚܙܘܢܢܝ ܘܬܘܒ ܩܠܝܠ ܘܬܚܙܘܢܢܝ
wthkhzwnny qlyl wthwb thkhzwnny wl' dqlyl lkwn d'mrth khdd' em 'nthwn beyn hd' el lhwn w'mr lmsh'lwthh hww dbeyn yde dyn yshwe
Therefore Jesus perceived that they wanted to ask him, and he said to them,
“Do you inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me?’

ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܬܒܟܘܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܬܐܠܘܢ ܘܥܠܡܐ ܢܚܕܐ ܘܠܟܘܢ ܬܟܪܐ ܐܠܐ ܟܪܝܘܬܟܘܢ ܠܚܕܘܬܐ ܬܗܘܐ
thhw' lkhdwth' krywthkwn 'l' thkr' wlkwn nkhd' welm' wth'lwn 'nthwn dthbkwn lkwn 'n' 'mr 'myn 'myn
Most certainly I tell you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.

ܐܢܬܬܐ ܡܐ ܕܝܠܕܐ ܟܪܝܐ ܠܗ ܕܡܛܐ ܝܘܡܐ ܕܡܘܠܕܗ ܡܐ ܕܝܠܕܬ ܕܝܢ ܒܪܐ ܠܐ ܥܗܕܐ ܐܘܠܨܢܗ ܡܛܠ ܚܕܘܬܐ ܕܐܬܝܠܕ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܒܥܠܡܐ
belm' brnsh' d'thyld khdwth' mTl 'wltsnh ehd' l' br' dyn dyldth m' dmwldh ywm' dmT' lh kry' dyld' m' 'nthth'
A woman, when she gives birth, has sorrow, because her time has come. But when she has delivered the child, she doesn’t remember the anguish any more, for the joy that a human being is born into the world.

ܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܗܫܐ ܟܪܝܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܬܘܒ ܕܝܢ ܐܚܙܝܟܘܢ ܘܢܚܕܐ ܠܒܟܘܢ ܘܚܕܘܬܟܘܢ ܠܐ ܐܢܫ ܢܣܒ ܡܢܟܘܢ
mnkwn nsb 'nsh l' wkhdwthkwn lbkwn wnkhd' 'khzykwn dyn thwb lkwn kry' hsh' 'nthwn 'p
Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

ܘܒܗܘ ܝܘܡܐ ܠܝ ܠܐ ܬܫܐܠܘܢ ܡܕܡ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܕܬܫܐܠܘܢ ܠܐܒܝ ܒܫܡܝ ܢܬܠ ܠܟܘܢ
lkwn nthl bshmy l'by dthsh'lwn mdm dkl lkwn 'n' 'mr 'myn 'myn mdm thsh'lwn l' ly ywm' wbhw
“In that day you will ask me no questions. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.

ܥܕܡܐ ܠܗܫܐ ܠܐ ܫܐܠܬܘܢ ܡܕܡ ܒܫܡܝ ܫܐܠܘ ܘܬܣܒܘܢ ܕܬܗܘܐ ܚܕܘܬܟܘܢ ܡܫܡܠܝܐ
mshmly' khdwthkwn dthhw' wthsbwn sh'lw bshmy mdm sh'lthwn l' lhsh' edm'
Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.

ܗܠܝܢ ܒܦܠܐܬܐ ܡܠܠܬ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܐܬܝܐ ܕܝܢ ܫܥܬܐ ܐܡܬܝ ܕܠܐ ܐܡܠܠ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܒܦܠܐܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܥܝܢ ܒܓܠܐ ܐܒܕܩ ܠܟܘܢ ܥܠ ܐܒܐ
'b' el lkwn 'bdq bgl' eyn 'l' bpl'th' emkwn 'mll dl' 'mthy sheth' dyn 'thy' emkwn mllth bpl'th' hlyn
I have spoken these things to you in figures of speech. But the time is coming when I will no more speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about the Father.

ܒܗܘ ܝܘܡܐ ܕܬܫܐܠܘܢ ܒܫܡܝ ܘܠܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܒܥܐ ܡܢ ܐܒܐ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ
elykwn 'b' mn 'be' d'n' lkwn 'n' 'mr wl' bshmy dthsh'lwn ywm' bhw
In that day you will ask in my name; and I don’t say to you, that I will pray to the Father for you,

ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܐܒܐ ܪܚܡ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܐܢܬܘܢ ܪܚܡܬܘܢܢܝ ܘܗܝܡܢܬܘܢ ܕܐܢܐ ܡܢ ܠܘܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܢܦܩܬ

for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came from God.

ܢܦܩܬ ܡܢ ܠܘܬ ܐܒܐ ܘܐܬܝܬ ܠܥܠܡܐ ܘܬܘܒ ܫܒܩ ܐܢܐ ܠܥܠܡܐ ܘܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ ܠܝ ܠܘܬ ܐܒܐ

I came from the Father, and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܗܐ ܗܫܐ ܓܠܝܐܝܬ ܡܡܠܠ ܐܢܬ ܘܦܠܐܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܚܕܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܬ
'nth 'mr khd' wl' wpl'th' 'nth mmll gly'yth hsh' h' thlmydwhy lh 'mryn
His disciples said to him, “Behold, now you are speaking plainly, and using no figures of speech.

ܗܫܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܚܢܢ ܕܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܬ ܘܠܐ ܣܢܝܩ ܐܢܬ ܕܐܢܫ ܢܫܐܠܟ ܒܗܕܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܝܢ ܚܢܢ ܕܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܢܦܩܬ

Now we know that you know all things, and don’t need for anyone to question you. By this we believe that you came from God.”

ܕܗܐ ܐܬܝܐ ܫܥܬܐ ܘܗܫܐ ܐܬܬ ܕܬܬܒܕܪܘܢ ܐܢܫ ܠܐܬܪܗ ܘܬܫܒܩܘܢܢܝ ܒܠܚܘܕܝ ܘܠܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܒܠܚܘܕܝ ܕܐܒܐ ܥܡܝ ܗܘ
hw emy d'b' blkhwdy hwyth wl' blkhwdy wthshbqwnny l'thrh 'nsh dththbdrwn 'thth whsh' sheth' 'thy' dh'
Behold, the time is coming, yes, and has now come, that you will be scattered, everyone to his own place, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

ܗܠܝܢ ܐܡܪܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܒܝ ܢܗܘܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܫܠܡܐ ܒܥܠܡܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܐܘܠܨܢܐ ܐܠܐ ܐܬܠܒܒܘ ܐܢܐ ܙܟܝܬܗ ܠܥܠܡܐ
lelm' zkythh 'n' 'thlbbw 'l' 'wltsn' lkwn hw' belm' shlm' lkwn nhw' dby lkwn 'mrth hlyn
I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.”
