ܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܚܕ ܕܟܪܝܗ ܠܥܙܪ ܡܢ ܒܝܬ-ܥܢܝܐ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܐܚܘܗ ܕܡܪܝܡ ܘܕܡܪܬܐ
'yth hw' dyn khd dkryh lezr mn byth-eny' qryth' 'khwh dmrym wdmrth'
Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus from Bethany, of the village of Mary and her sister, Martha.

ܡܪܝܡ ܕܝܢ ܗܕܐ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܗܝ ܕܡܫܚܬ ܒܒܣܡܐ ܪܓܠܘܗܝ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܘܫܘܝܬ ܒܣܥܪܗ ܐܚܘܗ ܗܘܐ ܕܗܕܐ ܠܥܙܪ ܕܟܪܝܗ ܗܘܐ
mrym dyn hd' 'ythyh hy dmshkhth bbsm' rglwhy dyshwe wshwyth bserh 'khwh hw' dhd' lezr dkryh hw'
It was that Mary who had anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother, Lazarus, was sick.

ܘܫܕܪܝܢ ܬܪܬܝܗܝܢ ܐܚܘܬܗ ܠܘܬ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪܢ ܡܪܢ ܗܐ ܗܘ ܕܪܚܡ ܐܢܬ ܟܪܝܗ
wshdryn thrthyhyn 'khwthh lwth yshwe w'mrn mrn h' hw drkhm 'nth kryh
The sisters therefore sent to him, saying, “Lord, behold, he for whom you have great affection is sick.”

ܝܫܘܥ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܗܢܐ ܟܘܪܗܢܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܡܘܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܚܠܦ ܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܢܫܬܒܚ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܛܠܬܗ
yshwe dyn 'mr hn' kwrhn' l' hw' dmwth' 'l' khlp thshbwkhth' d'lh' dnshthbkh brh d'lh' mTlthh
But when Jesus heard it, he said,
“This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, that God’s Son may be glorified by it.”

ܡܚܒ ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܗܘ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܡܪܬܐ ܘܠܡܪܝܡ ܘܠܠܥܙܪ
mkhb hw' dyn hw yshwe lmrth' wlmrym wllezr
Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.

ܘܟܕ ܫܡܥ ܕܟܪܝܗ ܟܬܪ ܒܕܘܟܬܐ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘܐ ܬܪܝܢ ܝܘܡܝܢ
wkd shme dkryh kthr bdwkth' d'ythwhy hw' thryn ywmyn
When therefore he heard that he was sick, he stayed two days in the place where he was.

ܘܒܬܪܟܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܬܘ ܢܐܙܠ ܬܘܒ ܠܝܗܘܕ

Then after this he said to the disciples,
“Let’s go into Judea again.”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܪܒܢ ܗܫܐ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܒܥܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܡܪܓܡܟ ܘܬܘܒ ܐܙܠ ܐܢܬ ܠܬܡܢ
'mryn lh thlmydwhy rbn hsh' yhwdy' beyn hww lmrgmk wthwb 'zl 'nth lthmn
The disciples told him, “Rabbi, the Jews were just trying to stone you, and are you going there again?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܐ ܬܪܬܥܣܪܐ ܫܥܝܢ ܐܝܬ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܘܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܡܗܠܟ ܒܐܝܡܡܐ ܠܐ ܡܬܬܩܠ ܡܛܠ ܕܚܙܐ ܢܘܗܪܗ ܕܥܠܡܐ ܗܢܐ
'mr lhwn yshwe l' thrthesr' sheyn 'yth bywm' w'n 'nsh mhlk b'ymm' l' mththql mTl dkhz' nwhrh delm' hn'
Jesus answered,
“Aren’t there twelve hours of daylight? If a man walks in the day, he doesn’t stumble, because he sees the light of this world.

ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܕܝܢ ܒܠܠܝܐ ܢܗܠܟ ܡܬܬܩܠ ܡܛܠ ܕܢܗܝܪܐ ܠܝܬ ܒܗ
'n 'nsh dyn blly' nhlk mththql mTl dnhyr' lyth bh
But if a man walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light isn’t in him.”

ܗܠܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܒܬܪܟܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܥܙܪ ܪܚܡܢ ܫܟܒ ܐܠܐ ܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܥܝܪܝܘܗܝ
hlyn 'mr yshwe wbthrkn 'mr lhwn lezr rkhmn shkb 'l' 'zl 'n' d'eyrywhy
He said these things, and after that, he said to them,
“Our friend, Lazarus, has fallen asleep, but I am going so that I may awake him out of sleep.”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܡܪܢ ܐܢ ܕܡܟ ܡܬܚܠܡ

The disciples therefore said, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܪ ܥܠ ܡܘܬܗ ܘܗܢܘܢ ܣܒܪܘ ܕܥܠ ܡܕܡܟܐ ܗܘ ܕܫܢܬܐ ܐܡܪ
hw dyn yshwe 'mr el mwthh whnwn sbrw del mdmk' hw dshnth' 'mr
Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that he spoke of taking rest in sleep.

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܦܫܝܩܐܝܬ ܠܥܙܪ ܡܝܬ ܠܗ

So Jesus said to them plainly then,
“Lazarus is dead.

ܘܚܕܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܬܡܢ ܡܛܠܬܟܘܢ ܕܬܗܝܡܢܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܗܠܟܘ ܠܬܡܢ
wkhd' 'n' dl' hwyth thmn mTlthkwn dthhymnwn 'l' hlkw lthmn
I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe. Nevertheless, let’s go to him.”

ܐܡܪ ܬܐܘܡܐ ܕܡܬܐܡܪ ܬܐܡܐ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܐ ܚܒܪܘܗܝ ܢܐܙܠ ܐܦ ܚܢܢ ܢܡܘܬ ܥܡܗ
'mr th'wm' dmth'mr th'm' lthlmyd' khbrwhy n'zl 'p khnn nmwth emh
Thomas therefore, who is called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, “Let’s go also, that we may die with him.”

ܘܐܬܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܒܝܬ-ܥܢܝܐ ܘܐܫܟܚ ܕܐܪܒܥܐ ܠܗ ܝܘܡܝܢ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܒܒܝܬ ܩܒܘܪܐ
w'th' yshwe lbyth-eny' w'shkkh d'rbe' lh ywmyn d'ythwhy bbyth qbwr'
So when Jesus came, he found that he had been in the tomb four days already.

ܐܝܬܝܗ ܗܘܬ ܕܝܢ ܒܝܬ-ܥܢܝܐ ܥܠ ܓܢܒ ܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܟܕ ܦܪܝܩܐ ܡܢܗ ܐܝܟ ܐܣܛܕܘܬܐ ܚܡܫܬܥܣܪ
'ythyh hwth dyn byth-eny' el gnb 'wrshlm kd pryq' mnh 'yk 'sTdwth' khmshthesr
Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about fifteen stadia away.

ܘܣܓܝܐܐ ܡܢ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܐܬܝܐܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܘܬ ܡܪܬܐ ܘܡܪܝܡ ܕܢܡܠܘܢ ܒܠܒܗܝܢ ܡܛܠ ܐܚܘܗܝܢ
wsgy'' mn yhwdy' 'thy'yn hww lwth mrth' wmrym dnmlwn blbhyn mTl 'khwhyn
Many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to console them concerning their brother.

ܡܪܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܟܕ ܫܡܥܬ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܐܬܐ ܢܦܩܬ ܠܐܘܪܥܗ ܡܪܝܡ ܕܝܢ ܒܒܝܬܐ ܝܬܒܐ ܗܘܬ
mrth' dyn kd shmeth dyshwe 'th' npqth l'wreh mrym dyn bbyth' ythb' hwth
Then when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, but Mary stayed in the house.

ܘܐܡܪܬ ܡܪܬܐ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܡܪܝ ܐܠܘ ܬܢܢ ܗܘܝܬ ܠܐ ܡܐܬ ܗܘܐ ܐܚܝ

Therefore Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you would have been here, my brother wouldn’t have died.

ܐܠܐ ܐܦ ܗܫܐ ܝܕܥܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܟܡܐ ܕܬܫܐܠ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܝܗܒ ܠܟ

Even now I know that, whatever you ask of God, God will give you.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܩܐܡ ܐܚܘܟܝ

Jesus said to her,
“Your brother will rise again.”

ܐܡܪܐ ܠܗ ܡܪܬܐ ܝܕܥܐܢܐ ܕܩܐܡ ܒܢܘܚܡܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܐܚܪܝܐ
'mr' lh mrth' yde'n' dq'm bnwkhm' bywm' 'khry'
Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܢܘܚܡܐ ܘܚܝܐ ܡܢ ܕܡܗܝܡܢ ܒܝ ܐܦܢ ܢܡܘܬ ܢܚܐ
'mr lh yshwe 'n' 'n' nwkhm' wkhy' mn dmhymn by 'pn nmwth nkh'
Jesus said to her,
“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies.

ܘܟܠ ܕܚܝ ܘܡܗܝܡܢ ܒܝ ܠܥܠܡ ܠܐ ܢܡܘܬ ܡܗܝܡܢܬܝ ܗܕܐ

Whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

ܐܡܪܐ ܠܗ ܐܝܢ ܡܪܝ ܐܢܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܢܬ ܗܘ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܬܐ ܠܥܠܡܐ
'mr' lh 'yn mry 'n' mhymn' 'n' d'nth hw mshykh' brh d'lh' d'th' lelm'
She said to him, “Yes, Lord. I have come to believe that you are the Christ, God’s Son, he who comes into the world.”

ܘܟܕ ܐܡܪܬ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܙܠܬ ܩܪܬ ܠܡܪܝܡ ܚܬܗ ܟܣܝܐܝܬ ܘܐܡܪܐ ܠܗ ܪܒܢ ܐܬܐ ܘܩܪܐ ܠܟܝ

When she had said this, she went away, and called Mary, her sister, secretly, saying, “The Teacher is here, and is calling you.”

ܘܡܪܝܡ ܟܕ ܫܡܥܬ ܩܡܬ ܥܓܠ ܘܐܬܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܠܘܬܗ

When she heard this, she arose quickly, and went to him.

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܐ ܥܕܟܝܠ ܐܬܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܩܪܝܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܒܗ ܗܘܐ ܒܗܝ ܕܘܟܬܐ ܕܐܪܥܬܗ ܡܪܬܐ
hw dyn yshwe l' edkyl 'th' hw' lqryth' 'l' bh hw' bhy dwkth' d'rethh mrth'
Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was in the place where Martha met him.

ܐܦ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܗܘܘ ܥܡܗ ܒܒܝܬܐ ܕܡܒܝܐܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܕܚܙܘ ܠܡܪܝܡ ܕܥܓܠ ܩܡܬ ܢܦܩܬ ܐܙܠܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܒܬܪܗ ܣܒܪܘ ܓܝܪ ܕܠܩܒܪܐ ܐܙܠܐ ܠܡܒܟܐ
'p hnwn dyn yhwdy' d'yth hww emh bbyth' dmby'yn hww lh dkhzw lmrym degl qmth npqth 'zlw lhwn bthrh sbrw gyr dlqbr' 'zl' lmbk'
Then the Jews who were with her in the house, and were consoling her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up quickly and went out, followed her, saying, “She is going to the tomb to weep there.”

ܗܝ ܕܝܢ ܡܪܝܡ ܟܕ ܐܬܬ ܐܝܟܐ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܚܙܬܗ ܢܦܠܬ ܥܠ ܪܓܠܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪܐ ܠܗ ܐܠܘ ܬܢܢ ܗܘܝܬ ܡܪܝ ܠܐ ܡܐܬ ܗܘܐ ܐܚܝ
hy dyn mrym kd 'thth 'yk' d'ythwhy hw' yshwe wkhzthh nplth el rglwhy w'mr' lh 'lw thnn hwyth mry l' m'th hw' 'khy
Therefore when Mary came to where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you would have been here, my brother wouldn’t have died.”

ܝܫܘܥ ܕܝܢ ܟܕ ܚܙܗ ܕܒܟܝܐ ܘܠܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܐܬܘ ܥܡܗ ܕܒܟܝܢ ܐܬܥܙܙ ܒܪܘܚܗ ܘܐܙܝܥ ܢܦܫܗ

When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews weeping who came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,

ܘܐܡܪ ܐܝܟܐ ܣܡܬܘܢܝܗܝ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܡܪܢ ܬܐ ܚܙܝ

and said,
“Where have you laid him?”
They told him, “Lord, come and see.”

ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܚܙܘ ܟܡܐ ܪܚܡ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ

The Jews therefore said, “See how much affection he had for him!”

ܐܢܫܝܢ ܕܝܢ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܐܡܪܘ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܗܘܐ ܗܢܐ ܕܦܬܚ ܥܝܢܘܗܝ ܕܗܘ ܣܡܝܐ ܢܥܒܕ ܕܐܦ ܗܢܐ ܠܐ ܢܡܘܬ
'nshyn dyn mnhwn 'mrw l' mshkkh hw' hn' dpthkh eynwhy dhw smy' nebd d'p hn' l' nmwth
Some of them said, “Couldn’t this man, who opened the eyes of him who was blind, have also kept this man from dying?”

ܝܫܘܥ ܕܝܢ ܟܕ ܡܬܥܙܙ ܒܝܢܘܗܝ ܘܠܗ ܐܬܐ ܠܒܝܬ ܩܒܘܪܐ ܘܗܘ ܒܝܬ ܩܒܘܪܐ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘܐ ܡܥܪܬܐ ܘܟܐܦܐ ܣܝܡܐ ܗܘܬ ܥܠ ܬܪܥܗ
yshwe dyn kd mthezz bynwhy wlh 'th' lbyth qbwr' whw byth qbwr' 'ythwhy hw' merth' wk'p' sym' hwth el threh
Jesus therefore, again groaning in himself, came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone lay against it.

ܘܐܡܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܫܩܘܠܘ ܟܐܦܐ ܗܕܐ ܐܡܪܐ ܠܗ ܡܪܬܐ ܚܬܗ ܕܗܘ ܡܝܬܐ ܡܪܝ ܡܢ ܟܕܘ ܣܪܝ ܠܗ ܐܪܒܥܐ ܠܗ ܓܝܪ ܝܘܡܝܢ

Jesus said,
“Take away the stone.”
Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܐ ܐܡܪܬ ܠܟܝ ܕܐܢ ܬܗܝܡܢܝܢ ܬܚܙܝܢ ܫܘܒܚܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ
'mr lh yshwe l' 'mrth lky d'n thhymnyn thkhzyn shwbkhh d'lh'
Jesus said to her,
“Didn’t I tell you that if you believed, you would see God’s glory?”

ܘܫܩܠܘ ܟܐܦܐ ܗܝ ܘܗܘ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܪܝܡ ܥܝܢܘܗܝ ܠܥܠ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܒܐ ܡܘܕܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ ܕܫܡܥܬܢܝ

So they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said,
“Father, I thank you that you listened to me.

ܘܐܢܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܕܒܟܠܙܒܢ ܫܡܥ ܐܢܬ ܠܝ ܐܠܐ ܡܛܠ ܟܢܫܐ ܗܢܐ ܕܩܐܡ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܢܗܝܡܢܘܢ ܕܐܢܬ ܫܕܪܬܢܝ

I know that you always listen to me, but because of the multitude standing around I said this, that they may believe that you sent me.”

ܘܟܕ ܐܡܪ ܗܠܝܢ ܩܥܐ ܒܩܠܐ ܪܡܐ ܠܥܙܪ ܬܐ ܠܒܪ

When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice,
“Lazarus, come out!”

ܘܢܦܩ ܗܘ ܡܝܬܐ ܟܕ ܐܣܝܪܢ ܐܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܪܓܠܘܗܝ ܒܦܣܩܝܬܐ ܘܐܦܘܗܝ ܐܣܝܪܢ ܒܣܘܕܪܐ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܫܪܐܘܗܝ ܘܫܒܘܩܘ ܐܙܠ
wnpq hw myth' kd 'syrn 'ydwhy wrglwhy bpsqyth' w'pwhy 'syrn bswdr' 'mr lhwn yshwe shr'why wshbwqw 'zl
He who was dead came out, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth.
Jesus said to them,
“Free him, and let him go.”

ܘܣܓܝܐܐ ܡܢ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܕܐܬܘ ܠܘܬ ܡܪܝܡ ܟܕ ܚܙܘ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕ ܝܫܘܥ ܗܝܡܢܘ ܒܗ
wsgy'' mn yhwdy' d'thw lwth mrym kd khzw mdm debd yshwe hymnw bh
Therefore many of the Jews, who came to Mary and saw what Jesus did, believed in him.

ܘܐܢܫܝܢ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܐܙܠܘ ܠܘܬ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕ ܝܫܘܥ
w'nshyn mnhwn 'zlw lwth prysh' w'mrw lhwn mdm debd yshwe
But some of them went away to the Pharisees, and told them the things which Jesus had done.

ܘܐܬܟܢܫܘ ܪܒܝ ܟܗܢܐ ܘܦܪܝܫܐ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܡܢܐ ܢܥܒܕ ܕܗܢܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܐܬܘܬܐ ܣܓܝܐܬܐ ܥܒܕ

The chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, “What are we doing? For this man does many signs.

ܘܐܢ ܫܒܩܝܢ ܚܢܢ ܠܗ ܗܟܢܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܐܢܫܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܝܢ ܒܗ ܘܐܬܝܢ ܪܗܘܡܝܐ ܫܩܠܝܢ ܐܬܪܢ ܘܥܡܢ
w'n shbqyn khnn lh hkn' klhwn 'nsh' mhymnyn bh w'thyn rhwmy' shqlyn 'thrn wemn
If we leave him alone like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”

ܚܕ ܕܝܢ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܕܫܡܗ ܩܝܦܐ ܪܒ ܟܗܢܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܗܝ ܫܢܬܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܕܡ

But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all,

ܘܠܐ ܡܬܚܫܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܦܩܚ ܠܢ ܕܚܕ ܓܒܪܐ ܢܡܘܬ ܚܠܦ ܥܡܐ ܘܠܐ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܢܐܒܕ
wl' mthkhshbyn 'nthwn dpqkh ln dkhd gbr' nmwth khlp em' wl' klh em' n'bd
nor do you consider that it is advantageous for us that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish.”

ܗܕܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܢ ܨܒܘܬ ܢܦܫܗ ܠܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܠܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܪܒ ܟܗܢܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܗܝ ܫܢܬܐ ܐܬܢܒܝ ܕܥܬܝܕ ܗܘܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܕܢܡܘܬ ܚܠܦ ܥܡܐ

Now he didn’t say this of himself, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation,

ܘܠܐ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܚܠܦ ܥܡܐ ܐܠܐ ܕܐܦ ܒܢܝܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܡܒܕܪܝܢ ܢܟܢܫ ܠܚܕܐ

and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.

ܘܡܢ ܗܘ ܝܘܡܐ ܐܬܚܫܒܘ ܗܘܘ ܕܢܩܛܠܘܢܝܗܝ

So from that day forward they took counsel that they might put him to death.

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܐ ܡܗܠܟ ܗܘܐ ܓܠܝܐܝܬ ܒܝܬ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܐܠܐ ܐܙܠ ܠܗ ܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܠܐܬܪܐ ܕܩܪܝܒ ܠܚܘܪܒܐ ܠܟܪܟܐ ܕܡܬܩܪܐ ܐܦܪܝܡ ܘܬܡܢ ܡܬܗܦܟ ܗܘܐ ܥܡ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ
hw dyn yshwe l' mhlk hw' gly'yth byth yhwdy' 'l' 'zl lh mn thmn l'thr' dqryb lkhwrb' lkrk' dmthqr' 'prym wthmn mthhpk hw' em thlmydwhy
Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews, but departed from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim. He stayed there with his disciples.

ܩܪܝܒ ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܦܨܚܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܘܣܠܩܘ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܡܢ ܩܘܪܝܐ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܩܕܡ ܥܕܥܕܐ ܕܢܕܟܘܢ ܢܦܫܗܘܢ

Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand. Many went up from the country to Jerusalem before the Passover, to purify themselves.

ܘܒܥܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܚܕ ܠܚܕ ܒܗܝܟܠܐ ܡܢܐ ܣܒܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܠܐ ܐܬܐ ܠܥܕܥܕܐ

Then they sought for Jesus and spoke one with another, as they stood in the temple, “What do you think—that he isn’t coming to the feast at all?”

ܪܒܝ ܟܗܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܘܦܪܝܫܐ ܦܩܕܘ ܗܘܘ ܕܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܢܕܥ ܐܝܟܘ ܢܒܕܩ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܢܐܚܕܘܢܝܗܝ

Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had commanded that if anyone knew where he was, he should report it, that they might seize him.
