ܫܪܝܪܐܝܬ ܝ̇ܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܕܗܟܢܐ ܗܘ ܘܠܐ ܙ̇ܟܐ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܐܢܫܐ
'nsh' l'lh' zk' wl' hw dhkn' 'n' yde shryr'yth
“Truly I know that it is so, but how can man be just with God?

ܐܢ ܢܨܒܐ ܓܝܪ ܠܡܕܢ ܥܡܗ ܚܕܐ ܡܢ ܐܠܦ ܠܐ ܥ̇ܢܐ ܠܗ
lh en' l' 'lp mn khd' emh lmdn gyr ntsb' 'n
If he is pleased to contend with him, he can’t answer him one time in a thousand.

ܚܟܝܡ ܠܒܐ ܗܘ ܘܥܫܝܢ ܚܝܠܐ ܡܢܘ ܐܬܩܫܝ ܠܘܬܗ ܘܗܘܐ ܫܠܡ
shlm whw' lwthh 'thqshy mnw khyl' weshyn hw lb' khkym
God is wise in heart, and mighty in strength. Who has hardened himself against him and prospered?

ܗ̇ܘ ܕܡܫܢܐ ܛܘܪ̈ܝܢ ܠܐ ܝ̇ܕܥ ܘܗ̇ܦܟ ܠܗܘܢ ܒܪܘܓܙܗ
brwgzh lhwn whpk yde l' Twryn dmshn' hw
He removes the mountains, and they don’t know it, when he overturns them in his anger.

ܗ̇ܘ ܕܐܙܝܥ ܐܪܥܐ ܡܢ ܫܪ̈ܫܝܗ̇ ܘܥܡܘܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܪܥܠܝܢ
relyn wemwryh shrshyh mn 're' d'zye hw
He shakes the earth out of its place. Its pillars tremble.

ܗ̇ܘ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܫܡܫܐ ܘܠܐ ܕܢܚ ܘܒܐ̈ܦܝ ܟܘ̈ܟܒܐ ܚܬܡ
khthm kwkb' wb'py dnkh wl' lshmsh' d'mr hw
He commands the sun and it doesn’t rise, and seals up the stars.

ܗ̇ܘ ܕܡܬܚ ܫܡܝܐ ܒܠܚܘܕܘܗܝ ܘܕܪܟ ܥܠ ܬܘܩܦܗ ܕܝܡܐ
dym' thwqph el wdrk blkhwdwhy shmy' dmthkh hw
He alone stretches out the heavens, and treads on the waves of the sea.

ܗ̇ܘ ܕܥܒܕ ܟܝܡܐ ܘܥܝܘܬܐ ܘܓܢܒܪܐ ܘܐܚܕܪ ܠܬܝܡܢܐ
lthymn' w'khdr wgnbr' weywth' kym' debd hw
He makes the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, and the rooms of the south.

ܗ̇ܘ ܕܥܒܕ ܪ̈ܘܪܒܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܣܟ ܘܬܩܝ̈ܦܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܡ̈ܢܝܢ
mnyn dl' wthqypth' sk dl' rwrbth' debd hw
He does great things past finding out; yes, marvelous things without number.

ܗܐ ܐܢ ܥ̇ܒܪ ܥܠܝ ܠܐ ܚ̇ܙܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܗ ܘܐܢ ܡܬܟܪܟ ܚܕܪ̈ܝ ܠܐ ܡܬܒܝܢ ܐܢܐ ܠܗ
lh 'n' mthbyn l' khdry mthkrk w'n lh 'n' khz' l' ely ebr 'n h'
Behold, he goes by me, and I don’t see him. He passes on also, but I don’t perceive him.

ܗܐ ܐܢ ܬ̇ܒܪ ܡܢܘ ܢܦܩܘܕ ܒܐܝܕܗ ܘܡܢܘ ܢܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܢܐ ܥ̇ܒܕ ܐܢܬ
'nth ebd mn' lh n'mr wmnw b'ydh npqwd mnw thbr 'n h'
Behold, he snatches away. Who can hinder him? Who will ask him, ‘What are you doing?’

ܐܠܗܐ ܠܐ ܡܗܦܟ ܪܘܓܙܗ ܘܬܚܘܬܘܗܝ ܢܬܡܟܟܘܢ ܡܥܕܪ̈ܝ ܣ̈ܓܝܐܐ

“God will not withdraw his anger. The helpers of Rahab stoop under him.

ܐܦ ܐܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܥܢܝܘܗܝ ܘܐܣܕܘܪ ܡ̈ܠܝ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ
qdmwhy mly w'sdwr 'enywhy dyn 'n' 'p
How much less will I answer him, and choose my words to argue with him?

ܐܠܐ ܐܙܕܕܩܬ ܠܐ ܐܬܥܢܐ ܘܠܕܝ̇ܢܝ ܐܬܟܫܦ
'thkshp wldyny 'then' l' 'zddqth 'l'
Though I were righteous, yet I wouldn’t answer him. I would make supplication to my judge.

ܐܢ ܩ̇ܪܐ ܐܢܐ ܥ̇ܢܐ ܠܝ ܠܐ ܡܗܝܡܢ ܐܢܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܫ̇ܡܥ ܩܠܝ
qly dshme edm' 'n' mhymn l' ly en' 'n' qr' 'n
If I had called, and he had answered me, yet I wouldn’t believe that he listened to my voice.

ܕܒܟܠ ܡܢܬܐ ܕܪܫܝ ܒܬܘܩܦܐ ܡܚܢܝ ܘܐܣܓܝ ܨ̈ܘܠܦܬܝ ܡܓܢ
mgn tswlpthy w'sgy mkhny bthwqp' drshy mnth' dbkl
For he breaks me with a storm, and multiplies my wounds without cause.

ܘܠܐ ܫܒܩܢܝ ܕܬܬܢܝܚ ܪܘܚܝ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܣܒܥܢܝ ܡܪ̈ܪܐ ܘܐܪܘܝܢܝ ܓܕ̈ܕܐ
gdd' w'rwyny mrr' d'sbeny mTl rwkhy dththnykh shbqny wl'
He will not allow me to catch my breath, but fills me with bitterness.

ܐܢ ܒܚܝܠܐ ܬܩܝܦ ܗܘ ܘܐܢ ܠܕܝܢ̣ܐ ܡܢܘ ܢܐܪܥܝܘܗܝ
n'reywhy mnw ldyn' w'n hw thqyp bkhyl' 'n
If it is a matter of strength, behold, he is mighty! If of justice, ‘Who,’ says he, ‘will summon me?’

ܐܢ ܐܙܟܐ ܦܘܡܝ ܢܚܝܒܢܝ ܬܡܝܡ ܐܢܐ ܘܡܥܩܡ ܠܝ
ly wmeqm 'n' thmym nkhybny pwmy 'zk' 'n
Though I am righteous, my own mouth will condemn me. Though I am blameless, it will prove me perverse.

ܬܡܝܡ ܐܢܐ ܘܠܐ ܝ̇ܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܢܦܫܝ ܐܣܠܝܬ ܚ̈ܝܝ
khyy 'slyth npshy 'n' yde wl' 'n' thmym
I am blameless. I don’t respect myself. I despise my life.

ܚܕܐ ܗܝ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܡܪܬ ܕܠܙܕܝܩ̈ܐ ܘܠܪ̈ܫܝܥܐ ܗܘܝܘ ܡܣܝܦ
msyp hwyw wlrshye' dlzdyq' 'mrth hn' mTl hy khd'
“It is all the same. Therefore I say he destroys the blameless and the wicked.

ܐܢ ܫܒܛܗ ܡܢ ܫܠܝ ܩܛܠ ܘܥܠ ܫܛܝܘܬ ܙܟܝ̈ܝܢ ܡܡܝܩ
mmyq zkyyn shTywth wel qTl shly mn shbTh 'n
If the scourge kills suddenly, he will mock at the trial of the innocent.

ܐܪܥܐ ܝܗܒܗ̇ ܒܐܝܕܗ ܕܪܫܝܥܐ ܘܐ̈ܦܝܗܘܢ ܕܕܝ̇ܢܐ̈ ܡܚܦܝܢ ܐܠܐ ܪܘܓܙܗ ܡܢܘ ܡܣܝܒܪ
msybr mnw rwgzh 'l' mkhpyn ddyn' w'pyhwn drshye' b'ydh yhbh 're'
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked. He covers the faces of its judges. If not he, then who is it?

ܝܘܡ̈ܝ ܩܠܘ ܡܢ ܕܪܗܛܐ ܥܪܩܘ ܘܠܐ ܚܙܘ ܛܒܬܐ
Tbth' khzw wl' erqw drhT' mn qlw ywmy
“Now my days are swifter than a runner. They flee away. They see no good.

ܥܒܪܘ ܥܡ ܐ̈ܠܦܐ ܣܓܝܐ̈ܬܐ ܕܒ̈ܥܠܕܒܒܐ ܐܝܟ ܢܫܪܐ ܕܛ̇ܐܣ ܥܠ ܡܟܘܠܬܗ

They have passed away as the swift ships, as the eagle that swoops on the prey.

ܥܡ ܡܪ̈ܪܝ ܛܥܝܬ ܫܘ̈ܥܝܬܝ ܐܢ ܐܫܒܘܩ ܪܢܝܝ ܐܘ ܡ̈ܠܝ ܡܬܬܥܝܩ ܐܢܐ
'n' mththeyq mly 'w rnyy 'shbwq 'n shweythy Teyth mrry em
If I say, ‘I will forget my complaint, I will put off my sad face, and cheer up,’

ܘܐܢ ܐܬܬܢܝܚ ܕܚ̇ܠ ܐܢܐ ܡܢ ܟܠ ܬܫܢܝܩ ܡܛܠ ܕܝ̇ܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܕܠܐ ܡܙܟܐ ܐܢܬ ܠܝ
ly 'nth mzk' dl' 'n' dyde mTl thshnyq kl mn 'n' dkhl 'ththnykh w'n
I am afraid of all my sorrows. I know that you will not hold me innocent.

ܗܐ ܐܢ ܐܬܚܝܒ ܠܡܢܐ ܐܝܟ ܗܒܠܐ ܡܣܝܦ ܐܢܬ ܠܝ

I will be condemned. Why then do I labor in vain?

ܘܐܢ ܐܬܬܫܝܓ ܒܡ̈ܝܐ ܕܬܠܓܐ ܘܡܬܕܟܐ ܐܢܐ ܒܕܟܝܘܬܐ ܕܐ̈ܝܕܝ
d'ydy bdkywth' 'n' wmthdk' dthlg' bmy' 'ththshyg w'n
If I wash myself with snow, and cleanse my hands with lye,

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܒܓܘܡܨܐ ܬܛܒܥܢܝ ܘܢܬܪܚܩ ܡܢܝ ܠܒܘܫܝ
lbwshy mny wnthrkhq thTbeny bgwmts' hydyn
yet you will plunge me in the ditch. My own clothes will abhor me.

ܡܛܘܠ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܐܟܘܬܝ ܕܐܬܠ ܠܗ ܦܬܓܡܐ ܘܢܥܘܠ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܠܕܝܢܐ
ldyn' 'kkhd' wnewl pthgm' lh d'thl d'kwthy gbr' hw' dl' mTwl
For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, that we should come together in judgment.

ܐܫܬܘܦ ܕܝܢ ܐܝܬ ܡܟܣܢܐ ܒܝܢܬܢ ܕܢܣܝܡ ܐܝܕܗ ܥܠ ܦܘܡܐ ܕܬܪ̈ܝܢ
dthryn pwm' el 'ydh dnsym bynthn mksn' 'yth dyn 'shthwp
There is no umpire between us, that might lay his hand on us both.

ܘܢܥܒܪ ܡܢܝ ܫܒܛܗ ܘܕܚܠܬܗ ܠܐ ܬܙܝܥܢܝ

Let him take his rod away from me. Let his terror not make me afraid;
