ܘܥܢܐ ܒܠܕܕ ܫܘܚܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ

Then Bildad the Shuhite answered,

ܥܕܡܐ ܠܐܡܬܝ ܬܡܠܠ ܗܠܝܢ ܘܪܘܚܐ ܪܡܬܐ ܡܠܐ ܦܘܡܟ
pwmk ml' rmth' wrwkh' hlyn thmll l'mthy edm'
“How long will you speak these things? Shall the words of your mouth be a mighty wind?

ܕܠܡܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܡܥܘܠ ܕܝܢܐ ܐܘ ܚܣܝܢܐ ܡܥܘܠ ܙܕܩܐ
zdq' mewl khsyn' 'w dyn' mewl 'lh' dlm'
Does God pervert justice? Or does the Almighty pervert righteousness?

ܐܢ ܒ̈ܢܝܟ ܚܛܘ ܠܗ ܫܕܪ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܚ̈ܛܗܝܗܘܢ
bkhThyhwn 'nwn shdr lh khTw bnyk 'n
If your children have sinned against him, he has delivered them into the hand of their disobedience.

ܘܐܢ ܐܢܬ ܒܥܝ ܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܠܚܣܝܢܐ ܬܬܟܫܦ
ththkshp wlkhsyn' 'lh' mn bey 'nth w'n
If you want to seek God diligently, make your supplication to the Almighty.

ܐܢ ܙܟܝ ܐܢܬ ܘܬܪܝܨ ܗܫܐ ܢܬܬܥܝܪ ܥܠܝܟ ܘܢܫܠܡ ܕܝܪܐ ܕܙܕܩܟ
dzdqk dyr' wnshlm elyk nththeyr hsh' wthryts 'nth zky 'n
If you were pure and upright, surely now he would awaken for you, and make the habitation of your righteousness prosperous.

ܘܬܗܘܐ ܩܕܡܝܬܟ ܙܥܘܪܝܐ ܘܐܚܪܝܬܟ ܢܣܓܐ ܛܒ
Tb nsg' w'khrythk zewry' qdmythk wthhw'
Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would greatly increase.

ܫ̇ܐܠ ܢܐ ܥܠ ܕܪ̈ܐ ܩܕܡ̈ܝܐ ܘܐܬܒܝܢ ܒܒܘܕܩܐ ܕܐ̈ܒܗܝܗܘܢ
d'bhyhwn bbwdq' w'thbyn qdmy' dr' el n' sh'l
“Please inquire of past generations. Find out about the learning of their fathers.

ܕܐܬܡܠܝ ܓܝܪ ܚܢܢ ܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢܢ ܘܐܝܟ ܛܠܠܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܝܘ̈ܡܝܢ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ
're' el ywmyn 'nwn Tll' w'yk ydeynn l' khnn gyr d'thmly
(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days on earth are a shadow.)

ܘܗܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܢܠܦܘܢܟ ܘܢܐܡܪܘܢ ܠܟ ܘܡܢ ܠܒܗܘܢ ܢܦܩܘܢ ܡ̈ܠܐ
ml' npqwn lbhwn wmn lk wn'mrwn nlpwnk hnwn wh'
Shall they not teach you, tell you, and utter words out of their heart?

ܕܠܡܐ ܣ̇ܓܐ ܐܓܡܐ ܒܐܬܪܐ ܨܗܝܐ ܐܘ ܝ̇ܥܐ ܐܪܒܢܐ ܐܝܟܐ ܕܠܝܬ ܡ̈ܝܐ
my' dlyth 'yk' 'rbn' ye' 'w tshy' b'thr' 'gm' sg' dlm'
“Can the papyrus grow up without mire? Can the rushes grow without water?

ܕܥܕ ܗܘ ܒܐܒܗ ܠܐ ܡܬܩܛܦ ܘܩܕܡ ܟܘܠ ܥܡܝܪ ܝ̇ܒܫ
ybsh emyr kwl wqdm mthqTp l' b'bh hw ded
While it is yet in its greenness, not cut down, it withers before any other reed.

ܗܟܢܐ ܐܢܝ̈ܢ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗ ܕܟܠ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܛ̇ܥܐ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܘܣܒܪܗ ܕܚܢܦܐ ܢܐܒܕ
n'bd dkhnp' wsbrh l'lh' dTe' mn dkl 'wrkhthh 'nyn hkn'
So are the paths of all who forget God. The hope of the godless man will perish,

ܘܢܬܦܣܩ ܬܘܟܠܢܗ ܘܒܝܬܐ ܕܓܘܓܝ ܒܝܬܗ
bythh dgwgy wbyth' thwklnh wnthpsq
whose confidence will break apart, whose trust is a spider’s web.

ܢܬܬܟܠ ܥܠ ܒܝܬܗ ܘܠܐ ܢܩܘܡ ܘܢܚܡܣܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܬܩܝܡ
nthqym wl' wnkhmsn nqwm wl' bythh el nththkl
He will lean on his house, but it will not stand. He will cling to it, but it will not endure.

ܐܝܟ ܪܛܒܐ ܗܘ ܩܕܡ ܫܡܫܐ
shmsh' qdm hw rTb' 'yk
He is green before the sun. His shoots go out along his garden.

ܘܥܠ ܓܠܠܝ̈ܢ ܫܪ̈ܫܘܗܝ ܢܣܡܟܘܢ ܘܒܝܬܐ ܕܟܐ̈ܦܐ ܢܚܙܐ
nkhz' dk'p' wbyth' nsmkwn shrshwhy gllyn wel
His roots are wrapped around the rock pile. He sees the place of stones.

ܐܢ ܢܥܩܪܝܘܗܝ ܡܢ ܐܬܪܗ ܘܢܕܓ̇ܠ ܒܗ ܘܢܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܕܠܐ ܚܙܝܬܟ
khzythk dl' lh wn'mr bh wndgl 'thrh mn neqrywhy 'n
If he is destroyed from his place, then it will deny him, saying, ‘I have not seen you.’

ܗܐ ܗܘܝܘ ܒ̇ܨܐ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗ ܘܡܢ ܥܦܪܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܢܨܡܚ
ntsmkh 'khrn' epr' wmn 'wrkhthh klhyn bts' hwyw h'
Behold, this is the joy of his way. Out of the earth, others will spring.

ܠܐ ܡܣܠܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܠܬܡ̈ܝܡܐ ܘܠܐ ܐ̇ܚܕ ܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܡܒ̈ܐܫܢܐ
dmb'shn' b'yd' 'khd wl' lthmym' 'lh' msl' l'
“Behold, God will not cast away a blameless man, neither will he uphold the evildoers.

ܥܕܡܐ ܕܢܬܡܠܐ ܦܘܡܟ ܓܘܚܟܐ ܘܣ̈ܦܘܬܟ ܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ
thshbwkhth' wspwthk gwkhk' pwmk dnthml' edm'
He will still fill your mouth with laughter, your lips with shouting.

ܣܢܐ̈ܝܟ ܢܠܒܫܘܢ ܒܗܬܬܐ ܘܡܫܟܢܐ ܕܪ̈ܫܝܥܐ ܠܝܬܘܗܝ
lythwhy drshye' wmshkn' bhthth' nlbshwn sn'yk
Those who hate you will be clothed with shame. The tent of the wicked will be no more.”
