עד אימתי תמלל כאלין וזעפא רבא מימרי פומך:
pwmk mymry rba wzepa kalyn thmll aymthy ed
“How long will you speak these things? Shall the words of your mouth be a mighty wind?

אפשר דאלהא יעקם דינא ואם שדי יקלקל צדקא:
tsdqa yqlql shdy wam dyna yeqm dalha apshr
Does God pervert justice? Or does the Almighty pervert righteousness?

אין בניך חבו קדמוי ושדרינון באתר מרדיהון:
mrdyhwn bathr wshdrynwn qdmwy khbw bnyk ayn
If your children have sinned against him, he has delivered them into the hand of their disobedience.

אין את תקדם בצלו קדם אלהא ולות שדי תצלי:
thtsly shdy wlwth alha qdm btslw thqdm ath ayn
If you want to seek God diligently, make your supplication to the Almighty.

אין בריר ותריץ את ארום כדון יתגבר עלך וישלם יאית צדקך:
tsdqk yayth wyshlm elk ythgbr kdwn arwm ath wthryts bryr ayn
If you were pure and upright, surely now he would awaken for you, and make the habitation of your righteousness prosperous.

והוה שירותך זער וסופך יסגא לחדא:
lkhda ysga wswpk zer shyrwthk whwh
Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would greatly increase.

ארום שאל כדון לדר קדמי וכוין לפשפוש אבהתהון:
abhthhwn lpshpwsh wkwyn qdmy ldr kdwn shal arwm
“Please inquire of past generations. Find out about the learning of their fathers.

ארום מאתמלי אנחנא ולא נדע ארום היך טולא יומנא עלוי ארעא:
area elwy ywmna Twla hyk arwm nde wla ankhna mathmly arwm
(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days on earth are a shadow.)

הלא אנון ילפונך וימרון לך ומרעותהון ומרעיונהון יפקון מילין:
mylyn ypqwn wmreywnhwn wmrewthhwn lk wymrwn ylpwnk anwn hla
Shall they not teach you, tell you, and utter words out of their heart?

האפשר דאתגאי גומא בלא בצא יסגא ערקא בלא מיא:
mya bla erqa ysga btsa bla gwma dathgay hapshr
“Can the papyrus grow up without mire? Can the rushes grow without water?

עד די הוא בגיותיה לא אתליש וקדם כל עסבא ייבש:
yybsh esba kl wqdm athlysh la bgywthyh hwa dy ed
While it is yet in its greenness, not cut down, it withers before any other reed.

היכדין אסרט כל דשלין אלהא וסבר מדילטור תהובד:
thhwbd mdylTwr wsbr alha dshlyn kl asrT hykdyn
So are the paths of all who forget God. The hope of the godless man will perish,

די תזוח סבריה והיך בי מטויאתא רוחצניה:
rwkhtsnyh mTwyatha by whyk sbryh thzwkh dy
whose confidence will break apart, whose trust is a spider’s web.
15
מסתמיך על ביתיה ולא יקום ותתקף ביה ולא יתקיים:
ythqyym wla byh wththqp yqwm wla bythyh el msthmyk
He will lean on his house, but it will not stand. He will cling to it, but it will not endure.
16
רטיב הוא קדם מדנח שמשא ועל פריוניה ינקותיה תפוק:
thpwq ynqwthyh prywnyh wel shmsha mdnkh qdm hwa rTyb
He is green before the sun. His shoots go out along his garden.

די על איגר שרשוי חרשין בית אבניא יעוין:
yewyn abnya byth khrshyn shrshwy aygr el dy
His roots are wrapped around the rock pile. He sees the place of stones.

אם יסלעמניה מן אתריה ומכדב ביה לא חמית יתך:
ythk khmyth la byh wmkdb athryh mn yslemnyh am
If he is destroyed from his place, then it will deny him, saying, ‘I have not seen you.’
19
הא הוא חדות אורחיה ומן עפרא אוחרן ילבלבון:
ylblbwn awkhrn epra wmn awrkhyh khdwth hwa ha
Behold, this is the joy of his way. Out of the earth, others will spring.
20
הא אלהא לא ירחיק שלים ולא יתקיף ביד מבאשין:
mbashyn byd ythqyp wla shlym yrkhyq la alha ha
“Behold, God will not cast away a blameless man, neither will he uphold the evildoers.
21
עד די מלא חובא פומך וספותך היך יבבא:
ybba hyk wspwthk pwmk khwba mla dy ed
He will still fill your mouth with laughter, your lips with shouting.
