ܩܪܝ ܢܐ ܐܢ ܐܝܬ ܕܥ̇ܢܐ ܠܟ ܘܠܘܬ ܡ̇ܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܝܫ̈ܐ ܬܬܦܢܐ
ththpn' qdysh' mn mn wlwth lk den' 'yth 'n n' qry
“Call now; is there any who will answer you? To which of the holy ones will you turn?

ܡܛܠ ܕܠܣܟܠܐ ܩܛܠ ܪܘܓܙܐ ܘܠܣܟܠܐ ܩܛܠܐ ܩܢܐܬܐ
qn'th' qTl' wlskl' rwgz' qTl dlskl' mTl
For resentment kills the foolish man, and jealousy kills the simple.

ܐܢܐ ܚܙܝܬ ܪܫܝܥܐ ܕܡܨܠܚ ܘܐܒܕܐ ܕܝܪܗ ܡܢ ܫܠܝ
shly mn dyrh w'bd' dmtslkh rshye' khzyth 'n'
I have seen the foolish taking root, but suddenly I cursed his habitation.

ܢܬܪܚܩܘܢ ܒܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܡܢ ܦܘܪܩܢܐ ܘܢܬܡܟܟܘܢ ܒܬܪܥܐ ܘܠܝܬ ܕܦ̇ܪܩ ܠܗܘܢ
lhwn dprq wlyth bthre' wnthmkkwn pwrqn' mn bnwhy nthrkhqwn
His children are far from safety. They are crushed in the gate. Neither is there any to deliver them,

ܕܚ̇ܨܕ ܟܦܢܐ ܢܐܟܘܠ ܘܠܨܗܝܐ ܢܬܢܣܟܘܢ ܘܢܓܪܣ ܨܗܝܐ ܩܢܝܢܗܘܢ
qnynhwn tshy' wngrs nthnskwn wltshy' n'kwl kpn' dkhtsd
whose harvest the hungry eat up, and take it even out of the thorns. The snare gapes for their substance.

ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܢ̇ܦܩ ܡܢ ܥܦܪܐ ܫܘܩܪܐ ܐܦܠܐ ܡܢ ܐܕܡܬܐ ܨ̇ܡܚ ܥܘܠܐ
ewl' tsmkh 'dmth' mn 'pl' shwqr' epr' mn npq dl' mTl
For affliction doesn’t come out of the dust, neither does trouble spring out of the ground;

ܡܛܠ ܕܒܪܢܫܐ ܠܥܡܠܐ ܗܘ ܐܬܝܠܕ ܘܒܢ̈ܝ ܥܘܦܐ ܢܪܝܡܘܢ ܓܦܐ
gp' nrymwn ewp' wbny 'thyld hw leml' dbrnsh' mTl
but man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

ܒܪܡ ܐܢܐ ܐܥܩܒ ܥܠ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܠܘܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܣܝܡ ܡܠܬܝ
mlthy 'sym 'lh' wlwth 'lh' el 'eqb 'n' brm
“But as for me, I would seek God. I would commit my cause to God,

ܕܥܒܕ ܪ̈ܘܪܒܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܣܟ ܘܬܕܡܪ̈ܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܡܢܝ̈ܢ
mnyn dl' wthdmrth' sk dl' rwrbth' debd
who does great things that can’t be fathomed, marvelous things without number;

ܕܝ̇ܗܒ ܡܛܪܐ ܥܠ ܐ̈ܦܝ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܡܫܕܪ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܥܠ ܐ̈ܦܝ ܫ̈ܘܩܐ

who gives rain on the earth, and sends waters on the fields;

ܠܡܣܡ ܫ̈ܦܠܐ ܒܪܘܡܐ ܘܡܟܝ̈ܟܐ ܢܬܥܫܢܘܢ ܒܦܘܪܩܢܐ
bpwrqn' ntheshnwn wmkyk' brwm' shpl' lmsm
so that he sets up on high those who are low, those who mourn are exalted to safety.

ܡܒܛܠ ܡܚ̈ܫܒܬܐ ܕܚܟܝ̈ܡܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܥܒ̈ܕܢ ܐ̈ܝܕܝܗܘܢ ܠܚܟܡܐ
lkhkm' 'ydyhwn nebdn dl' dkhkym' mkhshbth' mbTl
He frustrates the plans of the crafty, so that their hands can’t perform their enterprise.

ܐ̇ܚܕ ܚ̈ܟܝܡܐ ܒܚܟܡܬܗܘܢ ܘܬܪܥܝܬܐ ܕܨܢܘ̈ܥܬܢܐ ܡܒܛܠ
mbTl dtsnwethn' wthreyth' bkhkmthhwn khkym' 'khd
He takes the wise in their own craftiness; the counsel of the cunning is carried headlong.

ܒܐܝܡܡܐ ܢܓܫܓܫܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܒܚܫܘܟܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܕܒܠܠܝܐ ܢܡܘܫܘܢ ܒܛܗܪܐ
bThr' nmwshwn dblly' w'yk dbkhshwk' 'yk ngshgshwn b'ymm'
They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope at noonday as in the night.

ܦ̇ܪܩ ܡܢ ܚܪܒܐ ܡܢ ܦܘܡܗܘܢ ܘܡܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܥܫܝܢܐ ܠܡܣ̈ܟܢܐ
lmskn' deshyn' 'yd' wmn pwmhwn mn khrb' mn prq
But he saves from the sword of their mouth, even the needy from the hand of the mighty.

ܘܢܗܘܐ ܠܡܣܟܢܐ ܣܒܪܐ ܘܥܘ̇ܠܐ ܢܣܟܘܪ ܦܘܡܗ
pwmh nskwr wewl' sbr' lmskn' wnhw'
So the poor has hope, and injustice shuts her mouth.

ܛܘܒܘܗܝ ܠܓܒܪܐ ܕܢܟܣܝܘܗܝ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܡܪܕܘܬܗ ܕܚܣܝܢܐ ܠܐ ܢܣܠܐ
nsl' l' dkhsyn' wmrdwthh 'lh' dnksywhy lgbr' Twbwhy
“Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects. Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.

ܡܛܠ ܕܗܘ ܬ̇ܒܪ ܘܥ̇ܨܒ ܘܡ̇ܚܐ ܘܐ̈ܝܕܘܗܝ ܡܐܣ̈ܝܢ
m'syn w'ydwhy wmkh' wetsb thbr dhw mTl
For he wounds and binds up. He injures and his hands make whole.

ܒܫܬ ܥܩ̈ܢ ܢܦܪܩܟ ܘܒܕܫܒܥ ܠܐ ܢܩܪܘܒ ܠܟ ܒܝܫܐ
bysh' lk nqrwb l' wbdshbe nprqk eqn bshth
He will deliver you in six troubles; yes, in seven no evil will touch you.

ܒܟܦܢܐ ܢܦܪܩܟ ܡܢ ܡܘܬܐ ܘܒܩܪܒܐ ܡܢ ܐ̈ܝܕܝ ܚܪܒܐ
khrb' 'ydy mn wbqrb' mwth' mn nprqk bkpn'
In famine he will redeem you from death; in war, from the power of the sword.

ܡܢ ܫܒܛܐ ܕܠܫܢܐ ܬܣܬܬܪ ܘܠܐ ܬܕܚܠ ܡܢ ܬܒܪܐ ܟܕ ܢܐܬܐ
n'th' kd thbr' mn thdkhl wl' thsththr dlshn' shbT' mn
You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, neither will you be afraid of destruction when it comes.

ܥܠ ܒܙܬܐ ܘܥܠ ܟܦܢܐ ܬܓܚܟ ܘܡܢ ܚܝܘܬܐ ܕܒܪܐ ܠܐ ܬܕܚܠ
thdkhl l' dbr' khywth' wmn thgkhk kpn' wel bzth' el
You will laugh at destruction and famine, neither will you be afraid of the animals of the earth.

ܡܛܠ ܕܥܡ ܟܐ̈ܦܐ ܕܕܒܪܐ ܩܝܡܟ ܘܚܝܘܬܐ ܕܒܪܐ ܐܫܬܠܡܬ ܠܟ
lk 'shthlmth dbr' wkhywth' qymk ddbr' k'p' dem mTl
For you will be allied with the stones of the field. The animals of the field will be at peace with you.

ܘܬܕܥ ܕܫܠܡ ܗܘ ܡܫܟܢܟ ܘܬܗܦܘܟ ܠܕܝܪܟ ܘܠܐ ܬܚܛܐ

You will know that your tent is in peace. You will visit your fold, and will miss nothing.

ܘܬܕܥ ܕܣܓܝ ܙܪܥܟ ܘܝܠܕܟ ܐܝܟ ܥܣܒܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ
d're' esb' 'yk wyldk zrek dsgy wthde
You will know also that your offspring will be great, your offspring as the grass of the earth.

ܘܬܥܘܠ ܢܝܚܐܝܬ ܠܩܒܪܐ ܐܝܟ ܡܣܩ ܓܕܝܫܐ ܒܙܒܢܗ
bzbnh gdysh' msq 'yk lqbr' nykh'yth wthewl
You will come to your grave in a full age, like a shock of grain comes in its season.
