הדא חשבתא לדינא מללתא דכיית מן אלהא:
alha mn dkyyth mlltha ldyna khshbtha hda
“Do you think this to be your right, or do you say, ‘My righteousness is more than God’s,’

ארום תימר מה יהני לך מה צרוך אית מן סורחני:
swrkhny mn ayth tsrwk mh lk yhny mh thymr arwm
that you ask, ‘What advantage will it be to you? What profit will I have, more than if I had sinned?’

אנא אתבינך מליא וית חבריך עמך:
emk khbryk wyth mlya athbynk ana
I will answer you, and your companions with you.

אסתכל לשמיא וחמי ואסתכי שחקיא דאתגבהו מנך:
mnk dathgbhw shkhqya wasthky wkhmy lshmya asthkl
Look to the skies, and see. See the skies, which are higher than you.

אין חבתא מה תעביד ביה וסגיעי מרודך מה תעביד ליה:
lyh thebyd mh mrwdk wsgyey byh thebyd mh khbtha ayn
If you have sinned, what effect do you have against him? If your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to him?

אין זכית מה תיהב ליה או מה מן אידך יקבל:
yqbl aydk mn mh aw lyh thyhb mh zkyth ayn
If you are righteous, what do you give him? Or what does he receive from your hand?

לגבר דרשיעא דכמך חיובך ולבר נש דכיא צדקתך:
tsdqthk dkya nsh wlbr khywbk dkmk drshyea lgbr
Your wickedness may hurt a man as you are, and your righteousness may profit a son of man.

מסוגעי טלומין מקבלין יבעון מתקוף אדרע דורבניא:
dwrbnya adre mthqwp ybewn mqblyn Tlwmyn mswgey
“By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out. They cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty.

ולא אמר האן אלהא דעברני דמסדרין אנגלי מרומא קדמוי תושבחן בליליא:
blylya thwshbkhn qdmwy mrwma angly dmsdryn debrny alha han amr wla
But no one says, ‘Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night,

דמאלף יתנא מבעירי ארעא ומעופא דשמיא יחכמננא:
ykhkmnna dshmya wmewpa area mbeyry ythna dmalp
who teaches us more than the animals of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of the sky?’

תמן יקבלון ולא אעני מן קדם גיותנותא דבישיא:
dbyshya gywthnwtha qdm mn aeny wla yqblwn thmn
There they cry, but no one answers, because of the pride of evil men.
13
ברם שקרא לא ישמע אלהא ושדי לא יסכנה:
ysknh la wshdy alha yshme la shqra brm
Surely God will not hear an empty cry, neither will the Almighty regard it.
14
לחוד ארום תימר לא יסכנה אדין קדמוי ותוריך ליה:
lyh wthwryk qdmwy adyn ysknh la thymr arwm lkhwd
How much less when you say you don’t see him. The cause is before him, and you wait for him!
15
וכדון ארום כאלו לא הוה אסער רוגזיה ולא ידע לאפושי לחדא:
lkhda lapwshy yde wla rwgzyh aser hwh la kalw arwm wkdwn
But now, because he has not visited in his anger, neither does he greatly regard arrogance,
