ܘܐܘܣܦ ܐܝܘܒ ܠܡܡܬܠ ܡܬܠܗ ܘܐܡܪ

Job again took up his parable, and said,

ܡ̇ܢ ܕܝܢ ܥܒܕܢܝ ܐܝܟ ܝܪ̈ܚܐ ܩܕܡ̈ܝܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܢܛܪܢܝ
mn dyn ebdny 'yk yrkh' qdmy' w'yk ywmthh d'lh' nTrny
“Oh that I were as in the months of old, as in the days when God watched over me;

ܕܚܠܬܗ ܥܒܕ ܠܥܠ ܡܢ ܪܝܫܝ ܒܡܦܪܣ ܫܪܓܗ ܥܠܘܝ ܘܒܢܘܗܪܗ ܗܠܟܬ ܒܚܫܘܟܐ
dkhlthh ebd lel mn ryshy bmprs shrgh elwy wbnwhrh hlkth bkhshwk'
when his lamp shone on my head, and by his light I walked through darkness,

ܐܝܟ ܕܗܘܝܬ ܒܝ̈ܘܡܝ ܚܣܕܝ ܟܕ ܡ̇ܓܢ ܗܘܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܥܠܘܝ ܡܫܟܢܝ
'yk dhwyth bywmy khsdy kd mgn hw' 'lh' elwy mshkny
as I was in my prime, when the friendship of God was in my tent,

ܘܟܕ ܚܣܝܢܐ ܚܕܝܪ ܗܘܐ ܠܥܠܝܡܘܬܝ
wkd khsyn' khdyr hw' lelymwthy
when the Almighty was yet with me, and my children were around me,

ܟܕ ܢܦܩܬ ܠܬܪܥܐ ܘܩܪܝܬ ܘܒܫܘܩܐ ܐܝܟ ܒܝܫܐ ܝܬܒܬ

when I went out to the city gate, when I prepared my seat in the street.

ܚܙܐܘܢܝ ܥܠܝܡ̈ܐ ܘܐܬܛܫܝܘ ܘܩܡܘ ܣܒ̈ܐ ܘܐܬܕܡܪܘ ܒܝ
khz'wny elym' w'thTshyw wqmw sb' w'thdmrw by
The young men saw me and hid themselves. The aged rose up and stood.

ܘܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܐܬܟܠܝܘ ܒܡ̈ܠܐ ܘܐ̈ܝܕܝܗܘܢ ܣܡܘ ܥܠ ܦܘܡܗܘܢ
wrwrbn' 'thklyw bml' w'ydyhwn smw el pwmhwn
The princes refrained from talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.

ܩܠܐ ܕܫ̈ܠܝܛܢܐ ܕܡܬܛܫܝܢ ܘܠܫܢܗܘܢ ܕܒܩ ܠܫܡ̈ܝ ܚܟܗܘܢ

The voice of the nobles was hushed, and their tongue stuck to the roof of their mouth.

ܡܛܠ ܕܐܕܢܐ ܕܫܡܥܬ ܫܒܚܬܢܝ ܘܥܝܢܐ ܕܚܙܬ ܣܗܕܬܢܝ
mTl d'dn' dshmeth shbkhthny weyn' dkhzth shdthny
For when the ear heard me, then it blessed me, and when the eye saw me, it commended me,

ܡܛܠ ܕܦܠܛܬ ܠܡܣܟܢܐ ܡܢ ܐܘܠܨܢܐ ܘܠܝܬܡܐ ܕܠܝܬ ܠܗ ܡܥܕܪܢܐ
mTl dplTth lmskn' mn 'wltsn' wlythm' dlyth lh medrn'
because I delivered the poor who cried, and the fatherless also, who had no one to help him,

ܒܘܪܟܬܗ ܕܐܒܝܕܐ ܥܠܝ ܬܥܘܠ ܘܠܒܐ ܕܐܪܡܠܬܐ ܚܕܝܬ
bwrkthh d'byd' ely thewl wlb' d'rmlth' khdyth
the blessing of him who was ready to perish came on me, and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.

ܩܘܫܬܐ ܠܒܫܬ ܘܠܒܫܢܝ ܐܝܟ ܦܪܝܣܐ ܘܟܠܝܠܐ ܕܕܝܢܐ
qwshth' lbshth wlbshny 'yk prys' wklyl' ddyn'
I put on righteousness, and it clothed me. My justice was as a robe and a diadem.

ܥܝ̈ܢܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܠܥܘܝܪ̈ܐ ܘܪ̈ܓܠܐ ܠܡܚܓܪ̈ܐ
eyn' hwyth lewyr' wrgl' lmkhgr'
I was eyes to the blind, and feet to the lame.

ܐܒܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܠܒ̈ܝܫܐ ܘܕܝܢܐ ܕܠܐ ܝ̇ܕܥ ܗܘܝܬ ܒܕܩܬ
'b' hwyth lbysh' wdyn' dl' yde hwyth bdqth
I was a father to the needy. I researched the cause of him whom I didn’t know.

ܬܒܪܬ ܢܝ̈ܒܘܗܝ ܕܥ̇ܘܠܐ ܘܚܛܘܦܝܐ ܐܦܩܬ ܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܫ̈ܢܘܗܝ
thbrth nybwhy dewl' wkhTwpy' 'pqth mn byth shnwhy
I broke the jaws of the unrighteous and plucked the prey out of his teeth.

ܘܐܡܪܬ ܠܥܡܐ ܡܣܟܢܐ ܐܦܪܘܩ ܘܐܝܟ ܩܢܝܐ ܐܫܠܡ ܘܐܝܟ ܚܠܐ ܕܝܡ̈ܡܐ ܐܣܓܐ ܝܘܡ̈ܝ
w'mrth lem' mskn' 'prwq w'yk qny' 'shlm w'yk khl' dymm' 'sg' ywmy
Then I said, ‘I will die in my own house, I will count my days as the sand.

ܫܪ̈ܫܝ ܢܨܝܒܝܢ ܥܠ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܘܛܠܠܐ ܢܒܘܬ ܘܒܚܨܕܐ ܐܬܩܪܐ
shrshy ntsybyn el my' wTll' nbwth wbkhtsd' 'thqr'
My root is spread out to the waters. The dew lies all night on my branch.

ܐܬܬܚܕ ܥܡܝ ܘܩܫܬܝ ܒܐܝܕܝ ܐܬܚܠܦܬ
'ththkhd emy wqshthy b'ydy 'thkhlpth
My glory is fresh in me. My bow is renewed in my hand.’

ܘܐܠܘ ܫܡܥܘܢܝ ܘܣܒܪܘ ܘܫܡܥܘ ܠܡܘܠܟܢܝ
w'lw shmewny wsbrw wshmew lmwlkny
“Men listened to me, waited, and kept silence for my counsel.

ܘܡܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܝ ܠܐ ܛܥܘ ܘܠܗܘܢ ܒܣܡܬ ܡܠܬܝ
wmn pthgmy l' Tew wlhwn bsmth mlthy
After my words they didn’t speak again. My speech fell on them.

ܣ̇ܟܝܘ ܠܝ ܐܝܟ ܕܠܡܛܪܐ ܘܦܘܡܗܘܢ ܦܥܪܘ ܐܝܟ ܕܠܪܒܝܥܐ
skyw ly 'yk dlmTr' wpwmhwn perw 'yk dlrbye'
They waited for me as for the rain. Their mouths drank as with the spring rain.

ܐܓܚܟ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܗܝܡܢܘܢ ܘܒܢܘܗܪܐ ܕܐ̈ܦܝ ܠܐ ܢܗܠܟܘܢ
'gkhk elyhwn wl' nhymnwn wbnwhr' d'py l' nhlkwn
I smiled on them when they had no confidence. They didn’t reject the light of my face.

ܐܒܨܐ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗܘܢ ܘܐܗܦܘܟ ܘܐܫܪܐ ܐܝܟ ܡܠܟܐ ܒܚܝܠܗ ܘܐܝܟ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܠܐ̈ܒܝܠܐ ܡܒܝܐ
'bts' 'wrkhthhwn w'hpwk w'shr' 'yk mlk' bkhylh w'yk gbr' dl'byl' mby'
I chose out their way, and sat as chief. I lived as a king in the army, as one who comforts the mourners.
