ואוסיף איוב למטל מתליה ואמר:
wamr mthlyh lmTl aywb wawsyp
Job again took up his parable, and said,

מן יסדרנני היך ירחין דקדמין יומיא די אלהא יטרנני:
yTrnny alha dy ywmya dqdmyn yrkhyn hyk ysdrnny mn
“Oh that I were as in the months of old, as in the days when God watched over me;

באנהרותיה שרגיה עלי רישי לנהוריה איזל חשוכא:
khshwka ayzl lnhwryh ryshy ely shrgyh banhrwthyh
when his lamp shone on my head, and by his light I walked through darkness,
4
היכמא דהויתי ביומי חריפותי בזמן דרז אלהא עלי משכני:
mshkny ely alha drz bzmn khrypwthy bywmy dhwythy hykma
as I was in my prime, when the friendship of God was in my tent,
5
בעוד כדון דהוה מימר שדי בסעדי חזור חזור דילי עולימי:
ewlymy dyly khzwr khzwr bsedy shdy mymr dhwh kdwn bewd
when the Almighty was yet with me, and my children were around me,
6
במשזוג אסתורי בלואי וטינרא יזלף עמי טיפי משח:
mshkh Typy emy yzlp wTynra blway asthwry bmshzwg
when my steps were washed with butter, and the rock poured out streams of oil for me,

במפקי תרעא על קרתא בפתאה אתקין מותבי:
mwthby athqyn bpthah qrtha el threa bmpqy
when I went out to the city gate, when I prepared my seat in the street.

חמו יתי עולימיא ואטמרו וקשישיא יקומון זקפו:
zqpw yqwmwn wqshyshya waTmrw ewlymya ythy khmw
The young men saw me and hid themselves. The aged rose up and stood.

נגידיא כנישו במליא ואידא ישוון לפומהון:
lpwmhwn yshwwn wayda bmlya knyshw ngydya
The princes refrained from talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.
10
קל ארכונין אטמרו ולישנהון למוריגיהון אדבקת:
adbqth lmwrygyhwn wlyshnhwn aTmrw arkwnyn ql
The voice of the nobles was hushed, and their tongue stuck to the roof of their mouth.

ארום אודנא שמעה אמרת טב לי ועינא דחמת ואסהדת עלי:
ely washdth dkhmth weyna ly Tb amrth shmeh awdna arwm
For when the ear heard me, then it blessed me, and when the eye saw me, it commended me,
12
ארום אשזיב עניא דבעי ויתם ולא סעיד ליה:
lyh seyd wla wythm dbey enya ashzyb arwm
because I delivered the poor who cried, and the fatherless also, who had no one to help him,
13
ברכתא דאובדא עלי תיתי ולבא דארמלתא אמלי תושבחתא:
thwshbkhtha amly darmltha wlba thythy ely dawbda brktha
the blessing of him who was ready to perish came on me, and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.

זכותא לבישית ואלבשנני היך מעילא ומצנפתא דיני:
dyny wmtsnptha meyla hyk walbshnny lbyshyth zkwtha
I put on righteousness, and it clothed me. My justice was as a robe and a diadem.
15
נהור עינין הויתי לסמיא וטיול לחגירא אנא: ת״א תיר הויתי למסכנא דדמי לסמיא וטיל לקצור ערסא דמתיל לחגרא אנא:
ana lkhgra dmthyl ersa lqtswr wTyl lsmya ddmy lmskna hwythy thyr tha ana lkhgyra wTywl lsmya hwythy eynyn nhwr
I was eyes to the blind, and feet to the lame.

אבא אנא לחשיכיא ותגרא דלא ידעית אפשפשיניה:
apshpshynyh ydeyth dla wthgra lkhshykya ana aba
I was a father to the needy. I researched the cause of him whom I didn’t know.

ותברית ניבי מקלקל ומככוי רמיתי עדאה:
edah rmythy wmkkwy mqlql nyby wthbryth
I broke the jaws of the unrighteous and plucked the prey out of his teeth.

ואמרית עם תוקפי בשרכפי אתנגיד והיך חלא אסגי יומיא:
ywmya asgy khla whyk athngyd bshrkpy thwqpy em wamryth
Then I said, ‘I will die in my own house, I will count my days as the sand.
19
עקרי פתיח למבועי מיא וטלא יבית בחצדי:
bkhtsdy ybyth wTla mya lmbwey pthykh eqry
My root is spread out to the waters. The dew lies all night on my branch.
20
יקרי חדת גבי וקשתי בידי משתלחפא:
mshthlkhpa bydy wqshthy gby khdth yqry
My glory is fresh in me. My bow is renewed in my hand.’

מני קבילו ואוריכו ושתיקו למלכתי:
lmlkthy wshthyqw wawrykw qbylw mny
“Men listened to me, waited, and kept silence for my counsel.
22
בתר פתגמי לא יתנון ועליהון תשפר מלתי:
mlthy thshpr welyhwn ythnwn la pthgmy bthr
After my words they didn’t speak again. My speech fell on them.
23
ואוריכו היך מטרא לותי והיך אריסיא דפומהון פתחו למלקושא:
lmlqwsha pthkhw dpwmhwn arysya whyk lwthy mTra hyk wawrykw
They waited for me as for the rain. Their mouths drank as with the spring rain.
24
אגחך אמטולהון ולא יהמנון וקלסתור אפי לא אסתכלון:
asthklwn la apy wqlsthwr yhmnwn wla amTwlhwn agkhk
I smiled on them when they had no confidence. They didn’t reject the light of my face.
