מדין משדי לא אתטישו עדניא ודחכימין יתי לא חמין יומוי:
ywmwy khmyn la ythy wdkhkymyn ednya athTyshw la mshdy mdyn
“Why aren’t times laid up by the Almighty? Why don’t those who know him see his days?

תחומיא ישנון עדרא אנסון ורעון:
wrewn answn edra yshnwn thkhwmya
There are people who remove the landmarks. They violently take away flocks, and feed them.

חמרא דיתמי ידברון ימשכנון תור ארמלא:
armla thwr ymshknwn ydbrwn dythmy khmra
They drive away the donkey of the fatherless, and they take the widow’s ox for a pledge.

יצלון חשיכי מן אורחא כחדא אטמרו מסכני ארעא:
area mskny aTmrw kkhda awrkha mn khshyky ytslwn
They turn the needy out of the way. The poor of the earth all hide themselves.

היך דין כמרודיא במדברא נפקו לעובדיהון בישיא מקדמין לבזא במשרא אנס ליה מזונא לטליה:
lTlyh mzwna lyh ans bmshra lbza mqdmyn byshya lewbdyhwn npqw bmdbra kmrwdya dyn hyk
Behold, as wild donkeys in the desert, they go out to their work, seeking diligently for food. The wilderness yields them bread for their children.

בחקלא מדלא דלהון חצדין וכרמא דרשיעי יכסחון:
ykskhwn drshyey wkrma khtsdyn dlhwn mdla bkhqla
They cut their food in the field. They glean the vineyard of the wicked.

ערטלי יביתו דלית כסותא ודלית להון חופאה בקורא:
bqwra khwpah lhwn wdlyth kswtha dlyth ybythw erTly
They lie all night naked without clothing, and have no covering in the cold.

מקלוחיא דטוריא מטמשין ומדלית משרוי גפפו טינרא:
Tynra gppw mshrwy wmdlyth mTmshyn dTwrya mqlwkhya
They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for lack of a shelter.

יאנסון מבזת יתם ועל עניא ממשכנין:
mmshknyn enya wel ythm mbzth yanswn
There are those who pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor,

ערטלי אוליכו מדלית כסו וכפנין נטלו מנהון עומרא:
ewmra mnhwn nTlw wkpnyn ksw mdlyth awlykw erTly
so that they go around naked without clothing. Being hungry, they carry the sheaves.

ביני אשותהון יעצרון משח מעצרתא עצרו ומריהון אצחיאו:
atskhyaw wmryhwn etsrw metsrtha mshkh yetsrwn ashwthhwn byny
They make oil within the walls of these men. They tread wine presses, and suffer thirst.

מקרתא בני גשא נהקין ונפשת קטולין בחרבא תצלי ואלהא לא ישוי חובא:
khwba yshwy la walha thtsly bkhrba qTwlyn wnpshth nhqyn gsha bny mqrtha
From out of the populous city, men groan. The soul of the wounded cries out, yet God doesn’t regard the folly.

הנון הון במרדין באוריתא לא אשתמודעון אורחתיה ולא אתיתבו בשבילוי:
bshbylwy athythbw wla awrkhthyh ashthmwdewn la bawrytha bmrdyn hwn hnwn
“These are of those who rebel against the light. They don’t know its ways, nor stay in its paths.

לאורתא יקום קטולא יקטול עניא וחשיכא ובליליא יהי היך גנבא:
gnba hyk yhy wblylya wkhshyka enya yqTwl qTwla yqwm lawrtha
The murderer rises with the light. He kills the poor and needy. In the night he is like a thief.

ועינא דגיפא נטרת נשף ליליא למימר לא תסכנני עינא וטמור אפיא ישוי כלפי לעיל:
leyl klpy yshwy apya wTmwr eyna thsknny la lmymr lylya nshp nTrth dgypa weyna
The eye also of the adulterer waits for the twilight, saying, ‘No eye will see me.’ He disguises his face.

חאק בחשוכא בתיא ביממא מחתמין להון בגנזיא לא ידעו נהורא:
nhwra ydew la bgnzya lhwn mkhthmyn bymma bthya bkhshwka khaq
In the dark they dig through houses. They shut themselves up in the daytime. They don’t know the light.

ארום כחדא צפרא דמי להון היך טולא דמותא ארום אשתמודע פורענות טולא דמותא:
dmwtha Twla pwrenwth ashthmwde arwm dmwtha Twla hyk lhwn dmy tspra kkhda arwm
For the morning is to all of them like thick darkness, for they know the terrors of the thick darkness.

קליל הוא למישט על אפי מיא תהי ליט אורחא שעיעתהון בארעא לא יסכי שביל כרמיא:
krmya shbyl ysky la barea sheyethhwn awrkha lyT thhy mya apy el lmyshT hwa qlyl
“They are foam on the surface of the waters. Their portion is cursed in the earth. They don’t turn into the way of the vineyards.

צחיא ולחוד חומתא אנסין מימי תלגא וליתיהון היכדין לשיול אתנשיאו דאתחיבו: ת״א היך צחותא וחומא אנסין מימי תלגא וליתיהון היכדין לשיול אתנשיאו דאתחיבו:
dathkhybw athnshyaw lshywl hykdyn wlythyhwn thlga mymy ansyn wkhwma tskhwtha hyk tha dathkhybw athnshyaw lshywl hykdyn wlythyhwn thlga mymy ansyn khwmtha wlkhwd tskhya
Drought and heat consume the snow waters, so does Sheol those who have sinned.

אכזראין דנשיאו לרחמא מסכנין אתבסימו לרחשא תוב לא ידכר ותתבר היך קיסא עילתא: ת״א מטול דבטילו אפרשותא דמעשר דאתפקדו בעדן חומא דקיטא אתמנעו מנהון מימי מטרא ותלגא לבית קבורתא אתחיבו:
athkhybw qbwrtha lbyth wthlga mTra mymy mnhwn athmnew dqyTa khwma bedn dathpqdw dmeshr aprshwtha dbTylw mTwl tha eyltha qysa hyk wththbr ydkr la thwb lrkhsha athbsymw msknyn lrkhma dnshyaw akzrayn
The womb will forget him. The worm will feed sweetly on him. He will be no more remembered. Unrighteousness will be broken as a tree.

דמרע עקרא דלא תילד וארמלתא לא יוטיב:
ywTyb la warmltha thyld dla eqra dmre
He devours the barren who don’t bear. He shows no kindness to the widow.
22
ונגיד גבריא בחיליה יקום ולא יהמין בחיי:
bkhyy yhmyn wla yqwm bkhylyh gbrya wngyd
Yet God preserves the mighty by his power. He rises up who has no assurance of life.
23
יהיב ליה תיובתא לרחיץ ויסתמיך ועינוי על אורחיהון:
awrkhyhwn el weynwy wysthmyk lrkhyts thywbtha lyh yhyb
God gives them security, and they rest in it. His eyes are on their ways.
24
אוריכו כזעיר פון וליתוי רשיעא ואתמכיאו ככל מה יתקטעון וכריש שבולא יתקטפון:
ythqTpwn shbwla wkrysh ythqTewn mh kkl wathmkyaw rshyea wlythwy pwn kzeyr awrykw
They are exalted; yet a little while, and they are gone. Yes, they are brought low, they are taken out of the way as all others, and are cut off as the tops of the ears of grain.
