לחוד יומנא מריר מימרי מחתי תקפת על תונחתי:
thwnkhthy el thqpth mkhthy mymry mryr ywmna lkhwd
“Even today my complaint is rebellious. His hand is heavy in spite of my groaning.

מן יגזור אנדע ואשכחיניה איתי עד מדור בית מוקדשיה:
mwqdshyh byth mdwr ed aythy washkkhynyh ande ygzwr mn
Oh that I knew where I might find him! That I might come even to his seat!

אסדר קדמוי דין ופומי אמליל מכסנותא:
mksnwtha amlyl wpwmy dyn qdmwy asdr
I would set my cause in order before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.

אנדע מליא דיתיבנני ואתבין מה יימר לי:
ly yymr mh wathbyn dythybnny mlya ande
I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would tell me.

הבסוגעי חילא ינצי עמי לא ברם הוא ישוי תגרא בי:
by thgra yshwy hwa brm la emy yntsy khyla hbswgey
Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power? No, but he would listen to me.

תמן תריצא ותקין עמי ואשתזיב לעלמא מדדאין יתי:
ythy mddayn lelma washthzyb emy wthqyn thrytsa thmn
There the upright might reason with him, so I should be delivered forever from my judge.

הא למדנחא אהלוך וליתוי ולמערבא ולא אתבין ליה:
lyh athbyn wla wlmerba wlythwy ahlwk lmdnkha ha
“If I go east, he is not there. If I go west, I can’t find him.

בצפונא במעבדיה ולא אחמי כד מכבן דרומא ולא אסכי:
asky wla drwma mkbn kd akhmy wla bmebdyh btspwna
He works to the north, but I can’t see him. He turns south, but I can’t catch a glimpse of him.

ארום גלי קדמוי אורחא דעמי בחן יתי היך דהבא אפיק:
apyq dhba hyk ythy bkhn demy awrkha qdmwy gly arwm
But he knows the way that I take. When he has tried me, I will come out like gold.

באסתוריה אחדת רגלי אורחתיה נטרית ולא צלית:
tslyth wla nTryth awrkhthyh rgly akhdth basthwryh
My foot has held fast to his steps. I have kept his way, and not turned away.

פוקדנא דספותוי ולא אעדי מגזרתי אטישית מימרי פומוי:
pwmwy mymry aTyshyth mgzrthy aedy wla dspwthwy pwqdna
I haven’t gone back from the commandment of his lips. I have treasured up the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

ואין הוא יחידאי ומן יתיבניה ונפשיה רגגת ועבדת:
webdth rggth wnpshyh ythybnyh wmn ykhyday hwa wayn
But he stands alone, and who can oppose him? What his soul desires, even that he does.

ארום ישלם היך בקדמיתא גזרתי ודכמתהון סגיעין עמיה:
emyh sgyeyn wdkmthhwn gzrthy bqdmytha hyk yshlm arwm
For he performs that which is appointed for me. Many such things are with him.

מטול דהיכנא מן קדמוי אתבהל אתבין ואדחל מניה:
mnyh wadkhl athbyn athbhl qdmwy mn dhykna mTwl
Therefore I am terrified at his presence. When I consider, I am afraid of him.

ואלהה רכך לבבי ושדי בהלנני:
bhlnny wshdy lbby rkk walhh
For God has made my heart faint. The Almighty has terrified me.
