ܐܦ ܝܘܡܢܐ ܡܪܬ ܫܘܥܝܬܝ ܘܐܝܕܗ ܝܩܪܬ ܥܠ ܬܢܚ̈ܬܝ

ܡ̇ܢ ܕܝܢ ܥܒܕ ܕܡܫܟܚ ܗܘܝܬ ܠܡܡܛܝܘ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܡܘܬܒܗ

Oh that I knew where I might find him! That I might come even to his seat!

ܘܐܣܕܘܪ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܕܝܢܐ ܘܦܘܡܝ ܐܡܠܐ ܡܟܣܢܘܬܐ
w'sdwr qdmwhy dyn' wpwmy 'ml' mksnwth'
I would set my cause in order before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.

ܘܝܕܥܬ ܕܝܢ ܡܢܐ ܥ̇ܢܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܝ ܘܡܬܒܝܢ ܗܘܝܬ ܡܢܐ ܐ̇ܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܠܝ
wydeth dyn mn' en' hw' ly wmthbyn hwyth mn' 'mr hw' ly
I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would tell me.

ܒܣܘܓܐܐ ܕܚܝܠܐ ܕܐ̇ܢ ܥܡܝ ܘܐܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܚܠܬܐ ܣ̇ܐܡ ܥܠܝ
bswg'' dkhyl' d'n emy w'l' hw' dkhlth' s'm ely
Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power? No, but he would listen to me.

ܬܡܢ ܬܪܝܨܐܝܬ ܕܐ̇ܢ ܗܘܝܬ ܥܡܗ ܘܙ̇ܟܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܘܡܬܦܠܛ ܗܘܝܬ ܒܕܝܢܐ
thmn thryts'yth d'n hwyth emh wzk' hwyth wmthplT hwyth bdyn'
There the upright might reason with him, so I should be delivered forever from my judge.

ܐܢ ܩܕܡܝ ܐ̇ܙܠ ܠܐ ܝ̇ܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܘܡܢ ܒܣܬܪܗ ܠܐ ܡܬܒܝܢ ܐܢܐ ܠܗ
'n qdmy 'zl l' yde 'n' wmn bsthrh l' mthbyn 'n' lh
“If I go east, he is not there. If I go west, I can’t find him.

ܠܣܡܠܝ ܒܥܝܬ ܘܠܐ ܐܬܚܙܝ ܠܝ ܘܥܛܦܬ ܠܝܡܝܢܝ ܘܠܐ ܚܙܝܬܗ
lsmly beyth wl' 'thkhzy ly weTpth lymyny wl' khzythh
He works to the north, but I can’t see him. He turns south, but I can’t catch a glimpse of him.

ܗܘܝܘ ܝ̇ܕܥ ܐܘܪܚܝ ܘܩܝܡܝ ܘܒܚܪܢܝ ܐܝܟ ܕܗܒܐ ܘܢܦܩܬ
hwyw yde 'wrkhy wqymy wbkhrny 'yk dhb' wnpqth
But he knows the way that I take. When he has tried me, I will come out like gold.

ܘܒܫܒ̈ܝܠܘܗܝ ܐܫܬܪܪܬ ܪܓܠܝ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗ ܢܛܪܬ

My foot has held fast to his steps. I have kept his way, and not turned away.

ܘܠܐ ܫ̇ܛܬ ܦܘܩ̈ܕܢܝ ܣ̈ܦܘܬܗ ܘܠܐ ܫܢܝܬ ܡܢ ܨܒܝܢܗ ܢܛܪܬ ܡ̈ܠܝ ܦܘܡܗ
wl' shTth pwqdny spwthh wl' shnyth mn tsbynh nTrth mly pwmh
I haven’t gone back from the commandment of his lips. I have treasured up the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

ܘܗܘ ܒܚܕܐ ܡܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܢܐ ܢܬܝܒܢܝ ܕܢܦܫܗ ܐܨܛܒܝܬ ܘܥܒܕ

But he stands alone, and who can oppose him? What his soul desires, even that he does.

ܒܪܡ ܐܫܠܡ ܩܝܡܗ ܘܐܝܟ ܗܠܝܢ ܣܓ̈ܝܐܢ ܐܝܬ ܥܡܗ
brm 'shlm qymh w'yk hlyn sgy'n 'yth emh
For he performs that which is appointed for me. Many such things are with him.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܕܚܠܬ ܘܐܬܒܝܢܬ ܘܙܥܬ ܡܢܗ
mTl hn' mn qdmwhy dkhlth w'thbynth wzeth mnh
Therefore I am terrified at his presence. When I consider, I am afraid of him.

ܡܛܠ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܙܝܥ ܠܒܝ ܘܪܝܫܝ ܐܬܬܙܝܥ
mTl d'lh' 'zye lby wryshy 'ththzye
For God has made my heart faint. The Almighty has terrified me.

ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܐܫܬܬܩܬ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܚܫܘܟܐ ܘܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܬܚܦܝܬܐ ܕܥܡܛܢܐ
mTl dl' 'shththqth mn qdm khshwk' wmn qdm thkhpyth' demTn'
Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither did he cover the thick darkness from my face.
