ܐܦ ܝܘܡܢܐ ܡܪܬ ܫܘܥܝܬܝ ܘܐܝܕܗ ܝܩܪܬ ܥܠ ܬܢܚ̈ܬܝ
thnkhthy el yqrth w'ydh shweythy mrth ywmn' 'p
“Even today my complaint is rebellious. His hand is heavy in spite of my groaning.

ܡ̇ܢ ܕܝܢ ܥܒܕ ܕܡܫܟܚ ܗܘܝܬ ܠܡܡܛܝܘ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܡܘܬܒܗ
lmwthbh edm' lmmTyw hwyth dmshkkh ebd dyn mn
Oh that I knew where I might find him! That I might come even to his seat!

ܘܐܣܕܘܪ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܕܝܢܐ ܘܦܘܡܝ ܐܡܠܐ ܡܟܣܢܘܬܐ
mksnwth' 'ml' wpwmy dyn' qdmwhy w'sdwr
I would set my cause in order before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.

ܘܝܕܥܬ ܕܝܢ ܡܢܐ ܥ̇ܢܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܝ ܘܡܬܒܝܢ ܗܘܝܬ ܡܢܐ ܐ̇ܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܠܝ
ly hw' 'mr mn' hwyth wmthbyn ly hw' en' mn' dyn wydeth
I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would tell me.

ܒܣܘܓܐܐ ܕܚܝܠܐ ܕܐ̇ܢ ܥܡܝ ܘܐܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܚܠܬܐ ܣ̇ܐܡ ܥܠܝ
ely s'm dkhlth' hw' w'l' emy d'n dkhyl' bswg''
Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power? No, but he would listen to me.

ܬܡܢ ܬܪܝܨܐܝܬ ܕܐ̇ܢ ܗܘܝܬ ܥܡܗ ܘܙ̇ܟܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܘܡܬܦܠܛ ܗܘܝܬ ܒܕܝܢܐ
bdyn' hwyth wmthplT hwyth wzk' emh hwyth d'n thryts'yth thmn
There the upright might reason with him, so I should be delivered forever from my judge.

ܐܢ ܩܕܡܝ ܐ̇ܙܠ ܠܐ ܝ̇ܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܘܡܢ ܒܣܬܪܗ ܠܐ ܡܬܒܝܢ ܐܢܐ ܠܗ
lh 'n' mthbyn l' bsthrh wmn 'n' yde l' 'zl qdmy 'n
“If I go east, he is not there. If I go west, I can’t find him.

ܠܣܡܠܝ ܒܥܝܬ ܘܠܐ ܐܬܚܙܝ ܠܝ ܘܥܛܦܬ ܠܝܡܝܢܝ ܘܠܐ ܚܙܝܬܗ
khzythh wl' lymyny weTpth ly 'thkhzy wl' beyth lsmly
He works to the north, but I can’t see him. He turns south, but I can’t catch a glimpse of him.

ܗܘܝܘ ܝ̇ܕܥ ܐܘܪܚܝ ܘܩܝܡܝ ܘܒܚܪܢܝ ܐܝܟ ܕܗܒܐ ܘܢܦܩܬ
wnpqth dhb' 'yk wbkhrny wqymy 'wrkhy yde hwyw
But he knows the way that I take. When he has tried me, I will come out like gold.

ܘܒܫܒ̈ܝܠܘܗܝ ܐܫܬܪܪܬ ܪܓܠܝ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗ ܢܛܪܬ
nTrth 'wrkhthh rgly 'shthrrth wbshbylwhy
My foot has held fast to his steps. I have kept his way, and not turned away.

ܘܠܐ ܫ̇ܛܬ ܦܘܩ̈ܕܢܝ ܣ̈ܦܘܬܗ ܘܠܐ ܫܢܝܬ ܡܢ ܨܒܝܢܗ ܢܛܪܬ ܡ̈ܠܝ ܦܘܡܗ
pwmh mly nTrth tsbynh mn shnyth wl' spwthh pwqdny shTth wl'
I haven’t gone back from the commandment of his lips. I have treasured up the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

ܘܗܘ ܒܚܕܐ ܡܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܢܐ ܢܬܝܒܢܝ ܕܢܦܫܗ ܐܨܛܒܝܬ ܘܥܒܕ
webd 'tsTbyth dnpshh nthybny mn' hlyn mn bkhd' whw
But he stands alone, and who can oppose him? What his soul desires, even that he does.

ܒܪܡ ܐܫܠܡ ܩܝܡܗ ܘܐܝܟ ܗܠܝܢ ܣܓ̈ܝܐܢ ܐܝܬ ܥܡܗ
emh 'yth sgy'n hlyn w'yk qymh 'shlm brm
For he performs that which is appointed for me. Many such things are with him.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܕܚܠܬ ܘܐܬܒܝܢܬ ܘܙܥܬ ܡܢܗ
mnh wzeth w'thbynth dkhlth qdmwhy mn hn' mTl
Therefore I am terrified at his presence. When I consider, I am afraid of him.

ܡܛܠ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܙܝܥ ܠܒܝ ܘܪܝܫܝ ܐܬܬܙܝܥ
'ththzye wryshy lby 'zye d'lh' mTl
For God has made my heart faint. The Almighty has terrified me.
