ܕܠܡܐ ܥܡ ܐܠܗܐ ܐ̇ܡܪ ܐܢܬ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܐܢܬ ܐܫܬܘܝܬ ܥܡܗ ܒܚܟܡܬܐ
bkhkmth' emh 'shthwyth d'nth gbr' 'nth 'mr 'lh' em dlm'
“Can a man be profitable to God? Surely he who is wise is profitable to himself.

ܘܡܢܐ ܝܘܬܪܢ ܕܡܬܡܡ ܐܢܬ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܟ ܡܢ ܕܚܠܬܟ
dkhlthk mn 'wrkhthk 'nth dmthmm ywthrn wmn'
Is it any pleasure to the Almighty that you are righteous? Or does it benefit him that you make your ways perfect?

ܢܟܣܟ ܘܢܥܘܠ ܒܕܝܢܐ ܥܡܟ
emk bdyn' wnewl nksk
Is it for your piety that he reproves you, that he enters with you into judgment?

ܗܐ ܒܝܫܬܟ ܪܒܐ ܗܝ ܘܠܝܬ ܣܘܦ ܠܚ̈ܛܗܝܟ
lkhThyk swp wlyth hy rb' byshthk h'
Isn’t your wickedness great? Neither is there any end to your iniquities.

ܡܛܠ ܕܢܣܒܬ ܡܫܟܢܐ ܕܐ̈ܚܝܟ ܣܪܝܩܐܝܬ ܘܠܒܘܫܐ ܕܥܪܛܠܝܐ ܐܫܠܚܬ
'shlkhth derTly' wlbwsh' sryq'yth d'khyk mshkn' dnsbth mTl
For you have taken pledges from your brother for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing.

ܠܐ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܐܫܩܝܬ ܠܡܛܪܦܐ ܘܡܢ ܟܦܢܐ ܟܠܝܬ ܠܚܡܐ
lkhm' klyth kpn' wmn lmTrp' 'shqyth my' l'
You haven’t given water to the weary to drink, and you have withheld bread from the hungry.

ܐܝܬ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܙ̇ܪܥ ܠܗ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܡܪܐ ܩܛܝܪܐ ܢ̇ܣܒ ܠܗ̇ ܡܢܗ
mnh lh nsb qTyr' wmr' 're' lh dzre gbr' 'yth
But as for the mighty man, he had the earth. The honorable man, he lived in it.

ܐܪܡܠܬܐ ܫܕܪܬ ܣܪܝܩܐܝܬ ܘܕܪܥܗ ܕܝܬܡܐ ܡܟܟܬ
mkkth dythm' wdreh sryq'yth shdrth 'rmlth'
You have sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܚܕܪܘܟ ܦܚ̈ܐ ܘܐܙܝܥܬܟ ܕܚܠܬܐ ܡܢ ܫܠܝ
shly mn dkhlth' w'zyethk pkh' khdrwk hn' mTl
Therefore snares are around you. Sudden fear troubles you,

ܐܝܡܟܐ ܗܘ ܚܫܘܟܐ ܠܐ ܚܙܝܬ ܘܫܦܥܐ ܕܡ̈ܝܐ ܢܟܣܝܟ
nksyk dmy' wshpe' khzyth l' khshwk' hw 'ymk'
or darkness, so that you can not see, and floods of waters cover you.

ܗܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܪܝܡ ܫܡܝܐ ܘܚܙܐ ܪܝܫ ܟܘ̈ܟܒܐ ܕܐܬܬܪܝܡ
d'ththrym kwkb' rysh wkhz' shmy' 'rym 'lh' h'
“Isn’t God in the heights of heaven? See the height of the stars, how high they are!

ܘܐܡ̇ܪ ܐܢܬ ܡܢܐ ܝ̇ܕܥ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܠܡܐ ܠܓܘ ܡܢ ܥܪܦܠܐ ܢܕܘܢ
ndwn erpl' mn lgw dlm' 'lh' yde mn' 'nth w'mr
You say, ‘What does God know? Can he judge through the thick darkness?

ܥܢܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܣܬܪܗ ܘܠܐ ܚܙܘ ܘܥܠ ܚܘܓܬܐ ܕܫܡܝܐ ܡܗܠܟ
mhlk dshmy' khwgth' wel khzw wl' sthrh gyr enn'
Thick clouds are a covering to him, so that he doesn’t see. He walks on the vault of the sky.’

ܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܥܠܡܐ ܢܛܪܬ ܕܟܒܫܘܗ̇ ܥܡܐ ܕܫܘܩܪܐ ܕܠܐ ܒܥܕܢܗܘܢ
bednhwn dl' dshwqr' em' dkbshwh nTrth delm' 'wrkh'
Will you keep the old way, which wicked men have trodden,

ܘܒܥܒܪ ܢܗܪܐ ܐܬܟܠܝܘ ܘܠܐ ܥܗܕܘ ܠܡ̇ܢ ܕܐܟܝܢ ܫܬܐ̈ܣܝܗܘܢ
shth'syhwn d'kyn lmn ehdw wl' 'thklyw nhr' wbebr
who were snatched away before their time, whose foundation was poured out as a stream,

ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܦܪܘܩ ܡܢܢ ܘܡܢܐ ܥ̇ܒܕ ܠܢ ܐܠܗܐ
'lh' ln ebd wmn' mnn prwq l'lh' w'mryn
who said to God, ‘Depart from us!’ and, ‘What can the Almighty do for us?’

ܘܗܘ ܡܠܐ ܒܬ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܛܘܒܐ ܘܬܪܥܝܬܐ ܕܥ̇ܘ̈ܠܐ ܐܬܪܚܩܬ ܡܢܗܘܢ
mnhwn 'thrkhqth dewl' wthreyth' Twb' bthyhwn ml' whw
Yet he filled their houses with good things, but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

ܢܚܙܘܢ ܙܕܝܩ̈ܐ ܘܢܚܕܘܢ ܘܙܟܝܐ ܢܡܝܩ ܒܗܘܢ
bhwn nmyq wzky' wnkhdwn zdyq' nkhzwn
The righteous see it, and are glad. The innocent ridicule them,

ܐܠܐ ܢܬܡܟܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܩܫܝܘܬܗܘܢ ܘܫܪܟܗܘܢ ܬܐܟܘܠ ܢܘܪܐ
nwr' th'kwl wshrkhwn qshywthhwn mn nthmkkwn 'l'
saying, ‘Surely those who rose up against us are cut off. The fire has consumed their remnant.’

ܐܫܬܘܝܝ ܕܝܢ ܥܡܗ ܘܫܠܡ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܢ ܥ̈ܠܠܬܟ ܛܒ̈ܬܐ
Tbth' ellthk mn 'nwn wshlm emh dyn 'shthwyy
“Acquaint yourself with him now, and be at peace. By it, good will come to you.

ܩ̇ܒܠ ܡܢ ܦܘܡܗ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܘܢܣܝܡ ܡ̈ܠܘܗܝ ܒܠܒܟ
blbk mlwhy wnsym nmws' pwmh mn qbl
Please receive instruction from his mouth, and lay up his words in your heart.

ܐܢ ܬܬܘܒ ܠܘܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܬܬܒܢܐ ܘܐܢ ܬܪܚܩ ܥܘܠܐ ܡܢ ܡܫܟܢܟ
mshknk mn ewl' thrkhq w'n ththbn' 'lh' lwth ththwb 'n
If you return to the Almighty, you will be built up, if you put away unrighteousness far from your tents.

ܘܬܟܢܫ ܟܣܦܐ ܐܝܟ ܥܦܪܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܚܠܐ ܕܢܚܠܐ ܕܗܒܐ ܕܐܘܦܝܪ
d'wpyr dhb' dnkhl' khl' w'yk epr' 'yk ksp' wthknsh
Lay your treasure in the dust, the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks.

ܘܢܗܘܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܒܥܕܪܟ ܘܟܣܦ ܚ̈ܘܫܒܢܝܢ ܢܗܘܐ ܠܟ
lk nhw' khwshbnyn wksp bedrk 'lh' wnhw'
The Almighty will be your treasure, and precious silver to you.
26
ܘܬܪܝܡ ܠܘܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܐ̈ܦܝܟ
'pyk 'lh' lwth wthrym
For then you will delight yourself in the Almighty, and will lift up your face to God.
27
ܘܬܨܠܐ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܘܢܫܡܥܟ ܘܢܕܪ̈ܝܟ ܬܫܠܡ
thshlm wndryk wnshmek qdmwhy wthtsl'
You will make your prayer to him, and he will hear you. You will pay your vows.

ܘܬܐܡܪ ܡܠܬܐ ܘܢܩܝܡ ܠܟ ܘܥܠ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܟ ܢܓܗ ܢܘܗܪܐ
nwhr' ngh 'wrkhthk wel lk wnqym mlth' wth'mr
You will also decree a thing, and it will be established to you. Light will shine on your ways.

ܡܛܠ ܕܡ̇ܢ ܕܡܬܡܟܟ ܐ̇ܡܪ ܕܢܬܬܪܝܡ ܘܕܡܟ̈ܝܟܢ ܥܝ̈ܢܘܗܝ ܢܬܦܪܩ
nthprq eynwhy wdmkykn dnththrym 'mr dmthmkk dmn mTl
When they cast down, you will say, ‘be lifted up.’ He will save the humble person.
