שמעו וקבילו מלתי ותהי דא תנחמתכון:
thnkhmthkwn da wthhy mlthy wqbylw shmew
“Listen diligently to my speech. Let this be your consolation.

סבולו יתי ואנא אמלל ומן בתר דמללית תדחך:
thdkhk dmllyth bthr wmn amll wana ythy sbwlw
Allow me, and I also will speak. After I have spoken, mock on.

אפשר דאנא לבר נש מלתי ואין מדין לא תתעיק רוחי:
rwkhy ththeyq la mdyn wayn mlthy nsh lbr dana apshr
As for me, is my complaint to man? Why shouldn’t I be impatient?

אתפנו לותי ושתוקו ושוון אידא על פומא:
pwma el ayda wshwwn wshthwqw lwthy athpnw
Look at me, and be astonished. Lay your hand on your mouth.

ואין דכרית ואתבהלית ואחד בסרי רתיתא:
rthytha bsry wakhd wathbhlyth dkryth wayn
When I remember, I am troubled. Horror takes hold of my flesh.

מדין רשיעיא יחון אתקיפו לחוד קנוי נכסין:
nksyn qnwy lkhwd athqypw ykhwn rshyeya mdyn
“Why do the wicked live, become old, yes, and grow mighty in power?

בניהון מכוין קדמיהון עמהון ובני בניהון למחמיהון:
lmkhmyhwn bnyhwn wbny emhwn qdmyhwn mkwyn bnyhwn
Their child is established with them in their sight, their offspring before their eyes.

בתיהון שלם דלית דלוחא ולית מחת אלהא עלויהון:
elwyhwn alha mkhth wlyth dlwkha dlyth shlm bthyhwn
Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.
10
תוריה מבטין ולא יפלט תשזב תורתיה ולא תתכל:
ththkl wla thwrthyh thshzb yplT wla mbTyn thwryh
Their bulls breed without fail. Their cows calve, and don’t miscarry.

ישדרון היך ענא טליהון ורוביהון יטפזון:
yTpzwn wrwbyhwn Tlyhwn ena hyk yshdrwn
They send out their little ones like a flock. Their children dance.

יטלון בתפין וכנרין ויחדון לקל אבובא:
abwba lql wykhdwn wknryn bthpyn yTlwn
They sing to the tambourine and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the pipe.
13
יגמרון בטבא יומיהון ובמרגועא לבי קבורתא נחתין:
nkhthyn qbwrtha lby wbmrgwea ywmyhwn bTba ygmrwn
They spend their days in prosperity. In an instant they go down to Sheol.

ואמרו לאלהא זור מננא ולמחכם אורחתך לא צבינא:
tsbyna la awrkhthk wlmkhkm mnna zwr lalha wamrw
They tell God, ‘Depart from us, for we don’t want to know about your ways.

מה שדי ארום נפלחניה ומה צרוך אית ביה ארום נצלי במימריה:
bmymryh ntsly arwm byh ayth tsrwk wmh nplkhnyh arwm shdy mh
What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? What profit should we have, if we pray to him?’
16
הא לא ישתתר בידיהון טוביהון מלכת רשיעי רחקת מני:
mny rkhqth rshyey mlkth Twbyhwn bydyhwn yshththr la ha
Behold, their prosperity is not in their hand. The counsel of the wicked is far from me.

כמא שרגא דרשיעי יטפי וייתי עליהון תבריהון עדבין יפלג ברוגזיה:
brwgzyh yplg edbyn thbryhwn elyhwn wyythy yTpy drshyey shrga kma
“How often is it that the lamp of the wicked is put out, that their calamity comes on them, that God distributes sorrows in his anger?

יהון היך תבנא קדם זעפא וכמוזא דיטלטלניה עלעולא:
elewla dyTlTlnyh wkmwza zepa qdm thbna hyk yhwn
How often is it that they are as stubble before the wind, as chaff that the storm carries away?
19
אלהא יטשי לבנוי צעריה יפרע לותיה וידע:
wyde lwthyh ypre tseryh lbnwy yTshy alha
You say, ‘God lays up his iniquity for his children.’ Let him recompense it to himself, that he may know it.
20
יחמון עינוי תביריה ומן רוגזיה דשדי ישתי:
yshthy dshdy rwgzyh wmn thbyryh eynwy ykhmwn
Let his own eyes see his destruction. Let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

ארום מה רעותיה בביתיה בתרוי ומנין ירחוי אתפליגו:
athplygw yrkhwy wmnyn bthrwy bbythyh rewthyh mh arwm
For what does he care for his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off?
22
האפשר דלאלהא ילף מנדעא והוא שמי מרומא דאן:
dan mrwma shmy whwa mndea ylp dlalha hapshr
“Shall any teach God knowledge, since he judges those who are high?
23
דין ימות בתקוף שלימותיה כוליה שדיך ושליו:
wshlyw shdyk kwlyh shlymwthyh bthqwp ymwth dyn
One dies in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.
24
ביזוי אתמליאו חלבא ומוקרא דגרמוי פטים:
pTym dgrmwy wmwqra khlba athmlyaw byzwy
His pails are full of milk. The marrow of his bones is moistened.
25
ודין ימות בנפשא מרירא ולא אכל בטבתא:
bTbtha akl wla mryra bnpsha ymwth wdyn
Another dies in bitterness of soul, and never tastes of good.
26
כחדא על עפרא שכבין וריחשא תחפי עליהון:
elyhwn thkhpy wrykhsha shkbyn epra el kkhda
They lie down alike in the dust. The worm covers them.
27
הן גלין קדמי מחשבתכון וזמיונין דעלי תחשלון:
thkhshlwn dely wzmywnyn mkhshbthkwn qdmy glyn hn
“Behold, I know your thoughts, the plans with which you would wrong me.

ארום תימרון האן בית ארכונא והאן פרסא דמשכני דרשיעיא:
drshyeya dmshkny prsa whan arkwna byth han thymrwn arwm
For you say, ‘Where is the house of the prince? Where is the tent in which the wicked lived?’

הלא שילתון עדי אורחא וסמניהון לא תשתמודעון:
thshthmwdewn la wsmnyhwn awrkha edy shylthwn hla
Haven’t you asked wayfaring men? Don’t you know their evidences,
30
ארום ליום תבירא יתמנע ביש ליום רגיזתא יתעלון:
ythelwn rgyztha lywm bysh ythmne thbyra lywm arwm
that the evil man is reserved to the day of calamity, that they are led out to the day of wrath?
31
מן יחוי קדמוי אורחיה והוא עבד מן ישלם ליה:
lyh yshlm mn ebd whwa awrkhyh qdmwy ykhwy mn
Who will declare his way to his face? Who will repay him what he has done?
32
והוא לקבורן יתעל ועל גדישין יעיר:
yeyr gdyshyn wel ythel lqbwrn whwa
Yet he will be borne to the grave. Men will keep watch over the tomb.
33
בסימן ליה גרגשתא דנחלא ובתרוי כל בר נש ינגוד וקדמוי לית מנין:
mnyn lyth wqdmwy yngwd nsh br kl wbthrwy dnkhla grgshtha lyh bsymn
The clods of the valley will be sweet to him. All men will draw after him, as there were innumerable before him.
