ܫܡܥܘ ܡܫܡܥ ܡ̈ܠܝ ܘܢܗܘܐ ܒܟܘܢ ܒܘܝܢܐ
bwyn' bkwn wnhw' mly mshme shmew
“Listen diligently to my speech. Let this be your consolation.

ܣܝܒܪܘܢܝ ܘܐܡܠܠ ܘܒܬܪ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܝ ܡܝܩܘ
myqw pthgmy wbthr w'mll sybrwny
Allow me, and I also will speak. After I have spoken, mock on.

ܐܡܪ ܠܒܪܢܫܐ ܡ̈ܠܝ ܠܡܢܐ ܡܬܥܝܩܐ ܪܘܚܝ
rwkhy mtheyq' lmn' mly lbrnsh' 'mr
As for me, is my complaint to man? Why shouldn’t I be impatient?

ܐܬܦܢܘ ܠܘܬܝ ܘܬܡܗܘ ܘܣܝܡܘ ܐ̈ܝܕܝܟܘܢ ܥܠ ܦܘܡܟܘܢ
pwmkwn el 'ydykwn wsymw wthmhw lwthy 'thpnw
Look at me, and be astonished. Lay your hand on your mouth.

ܕܐܢ ܐܬܕܟܪܬ ܐܬܬܙܝܥܬ ܘܐܚܕܘ ܠܒܣܪܝ ܨܘܪ̈ܢܐ
tswrn' lbsry w'khdw 'ththzyeth 'thdkrth d'n
When I remember, I am troubled. Horror takes hold of my flesh.

ܡܛܠ ܡܢܐ ܪ̈ܫܝܥܐ ܚ̈ܝܝܢ ܘܡܥܬܩܝܢ ܓܢܒܪ̈ܝ ܚܝܠܐ
khyl' gnbry wmethqyn khyyn rshye' mn' mTl
“Why do the wicked live, become old, yes, and grow mighty in power?

ܙܪܥܗܘܢ ܡܬܩܢ ܩܕܡܝܗܘܢ ܘܒ̈ܢܝܗܘܢ ܠܥܢܝ̈ܗܘܢ
lenyhwn wbnyhwn qdmyhwn mthqn zrehwn
Their child is established with them in their sight, their offspring before their eyes.

ܒܬ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܫܠܝܢ ܡܢ ܕܚܠܬܐ ܘܠܝܬ ܫܒܛܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ
elyhwn d'lh' shbTh wlyth dkhlth' mn shlyn bthyhwn
Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.

ܬܘܪܗ ܥ̇ܒܪ ܘܠܐ ܓ̇ܥܐ ܘܦ̇ܠܛܐ ܬܘܪܬܗ ܘܠܐ ܡܚܒܠܐ
mkhbl' wl' thwrthh wplT' ge' wl' ebr thwrh
Their bulls breed without fail. Their cows calve, and don’t miscarry.

ܡܫܪܪܝܢ ܐܝܟ ܥܢܐ ܒܢܝ̈ܗܘܢ ܘܝ̈ܠܘܕܝܗܘܢ ܡܫܘܪ̈ܝܢ
mshwryn wylwdyhwn bnyhwn en' 'yk mshrryn
They send out their little ones like a flock. Their children dance.

ܫܩܠܘ ܦ̈ܠܓܐ ܘܟܢܪ̈ܐ ܘܚܕܝܢ ܠܩܠܐ ܕܙܡܪܐ
dzmr' lql' wkhdyn wknr' plg' shqlw
They sing to the tambourine and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the pipe.

ܡܓܡܪܝܢ ܒܛ̈ܒܬܐ ܝܘܡܝ̈ܗܘܢ ܘܒܥܓܠ ܠܫܝܘܠ ܢܚܬܝܢ
nkhthyn lshywl wbegl ywmyhwn bTbth' mgmryn
They spend their days in prosperity. In an instant they go down to Sheol.

ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܥܒܪ ܡܢܢ ܘܠܡܕܥ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܟ ܠܐ ܨܒܝܢܢ
tsbynn l' 'wrkhthk wlmde mnn ebr l'lh' w'mryn
They tell God, ‘Depart from us, for we don’t want to know about your ways.

ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܡ̇ܢ ܗܘ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܢܦܠܚܝܘܗܝ ܐܘ ܡܢܐ ܝܬܪܝܢܢ ܕܢܒܥܐ ܡܢܗ
mnh dnbe' ythrynn mn' 'w dnplkhywhy 'lh' hw mn w'mryn
What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? What profit should we have, if we pray to him?’

ܗܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܐ̈ܝܕܝܗܘܢ ܛܘܒܗܘܢ ܘܡܚܫܒܬܗܘܢ ܕܪ̈ܫܝܥܐ ܐܬܪܚܩܬ ܡܢܝ
mny 'thrkhqth drshye' wmkhshbthhwn Twbhwn b'ydyhwn hw' l' h'
Behold, their prosperity is not in their hand. The counsel of the wicked is far from me.

ܟܡܐ ܢܕܥܟ ܫܪܓܗܘܢ ܕܪ̈ܫܝܥܐ ܘܢܐܬܐ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܬܒܪܐ ܚܒܠܐ ܢܦܠܓ ܪܘܓܙܗ
rwgzh nplg khbl' thbr' elyhwn wn'th' drshye' shrghwn ndek km'
“How often is it that the lamp of the wicked is put out, that their calamity comes on them, that God distributes sorrows in his anger?

ܘܢܗܘܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܬܒܢܐ ܩܕܡ ܪܘܚܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܥܘܪܐ ܕܫܩܠܐ ܠܗ ܟܘܟܝܬܐ
kwkyth' lh dshql' ewr' w'yk rwkh' qdm thbn' 'yk wnhwwn
How often is it that they are as stubble before the wind, as chaff that the storm carries away?

ܐܠܗܐ ܢܛܪ ܥܘܠܗ ܠܒܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܘܢܦܪܥܝܘܗܝ ܘܢܕܥ
wnde wnpreywhy lbnwhy ewlh nTr 'lh'
You say, ‘God lays up his iniquity for his children.’ Let him recompense it to himself, that he may know it.

ܘܢܚ̈ܙܝܢ ܥܝ̈ܢܘܗܝ ܐܒܕܢܗ ܘܡܢ ܚܡܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܢܫܬܐ
nshth' d'lh' khmthh wmn 'bdnh eynwhy wnkhzyn
Let his own eyes see his destruction. Let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

ܡܢܘ ܨܒܝܢܗ ܒܒܝܬܗ ܡܢ ܒܬܪܗ ܘܡܢܝܢܐ ܕܝܪ̈ܚܘܗܝ ܢܬܢܛܪܘܢ ܠܒ̈ܢܘܗܝ
lbnwhy nthnTrwn dyrkhwhy wmnyn' bthrh mn bbythh tsbynh mnw
For what does he care for his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off?

ܠܐܠܗܐ ܡܠܦܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܝܕܥܬܐ ܕܗܘ ܠܪ̈ܡܐ ܢܕܘܢ
ndwn lrm' dhw ydeth' 'nthwn mlpyn l'lh'
“Shall any teach God knowledge, since he judges those who are high?

ܕܐܢ ܗܢܐ ܢܡܘܬ ܒܥܘܫܢܐ ܕܫܠܡܘܬܗ ܕܬܟܝܠ ܗܘܐ ܘܫܠܐ
wshl' hw' dthkyl dshlmwthh bewshn' nmwth hn' d'n
One dies in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.

ܘܓܒ̈ܘܗܝ ܡܠܝܢ ܬܪܒܐ ܘܓܪ̈ܡܘܗܝ ܡܠܝܢ ܡܘܚܐ
mwkh' mlyn wgrmwhy thrb' mlyn wgbwhy
His pails are full of milk. The marrow of his bones is moistened.

ܗܢܐ ܢܡܘܬ ܒܢܦܫ ܡܪܝܪܐ ܘܠܐ ܐܟܠ ܒܛܒܬܐ
bTbth' 'kl wl' mryr' bnpsh nmwth hn'
Another dies in bitterness of soul, and never tastes of good.

ܐܟܚܕܐ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܫܟܒܝܢ ܘܪܡܬܐ ܬܟܣܐ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn thks' wrmth' shkbyn 're' el 'kkhd'
They lie down alike in the dust. The worm covers them.

ܗܐ ܝ̇ܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܡܚܫ̈ܒܬܟܘܢ ܘܡܠ̣ܟܐ ܕܥܠܝ ܡܬܚܫܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ
'nthwn mthkhshbyn dely wmlk' mkhshbthkwn 'n' yde h'
“Behold, I know your thoughts, the plans with which you would wrong me.

ܡܛܘܠ ܕܐܡܪܬܘܢ ܕܐܝܟܘ ܒܝܬܗ ܕܙܕܝܩܐ ܘܐܝܢܘ ܡܫܪܝܐ ܕܡܫܟܢܐ ܕܪ̈ܫܝܥܐ
drshye' dmshkn' mshry' w'ynw dzdyq' bythh d'ykw d'mrthwn mTwl
For you say, ‘Where is the house of the prince? Where is the tent in which the wicked lived?’

ܠܐ ܓܝܪ ܫܐܠܬܘܢ ܠܥܒܪ̈ܝ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܘܐ̈ܬܘܬܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܐܫܬܘܕܥܬܘܢ
'shthwdethwn l' w'thwthhwn 'wrkh' lebry sh'lthwn gyr l'
Haven’t you asked wayfaring men? Don’t you know their evidences,

ܡܛܠ ܕܠܝܘܡܐ ܕܬܒܪܐ ܡܬܢܛܪ ܒܝܫܐ ܘܠܝܘܡܐ ܕܪܘܓܙܐ ܡܬܕܟܪ
mthdkr drwgz' wlywm' bysh' mthnTr dthbr' dlywm' mTl
that the evil man is reserved to the day of calamity, that they are led out to the day of wrath?

ܡܢܘ ܡܚܘܐ ܠܗ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܘܗ̇ܘ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕ ܡܢܘ ܦ̇ܪܥ ܠܗ
lh pre mnw debd mdm whw 'wrkh' lh mkhw' mnw
Who will declare his way to his face? Who will repay him what he has done?

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܐ̇ܙܠ ܠܩܒܪܐ ܘܠܓܕܫܐ ܡܬܢܛܪ
mthnTr wlgdsh' lqbr' 'zl dyn hw
Yet he will be borne to the grave. Men will keep watch over the tomb.

ܒܠܥܝܢ ܠܗ ܓܦܝ̈ܦܝ ܢܚܠܐ ܘܒܬܪܗ ܟܠܢܫ ܡܬܢܓܕ ܘܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܠܝܬ ܡܢܝܢ
mnyn lyth wqdmwhy mthngd klnsh wbthrh nkhl' gpypy lh bleyn
The clods of the valley will be sweet to him. All men will draw after him, as there were innumerable before him.
