ܡܛܠ ܗ̈ܠܟܬܝ ܐܬܝܒܘܢܝ ܘܡܛܘܠܬܝ ܟܬܪܘ ܠܝ

ܡܪܕܘܬܐ ܕܡܟܣܢܘܬܝ ܐܫܡܥ ܘܪܘܚܐ ܕܣܘܟܠܝ ܢܥܢܝܢܝ
mrdwth' dmksnwthy 'shme wrwkh' dswkly nenyny
I have heard the reproof which puts me to shame. The spirit of my understanding answers me.

ܗܕܐ ܝܕܥܬ ܡܢ ܥܠܡܐ ܡܢ ܕܐܬܒܪܝ ܐܕܡ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܡܢܘ ܥܒܕ ܠܐܢܫܐ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ
hd' ydeth mn elm' mn d'thbry 'dm el 're' mnw ebd l'nsh' el 're'
Don’t you know this from old time, since man was placed on earth,

ܡܛܠ ܕܬܫܒܘܚܬܗܘܢ ܕܪ̈ܫܝܥܐ ܡܢ ܓܘܗܘܢ ܘܚܕܘܬܗ ܕܚܢܦܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܗܝ ܠܙܒܢ ܙܥܘܪ
mTl dthshbwkhthhwn drshye' mn gwhwn wkhdwthh dkhnp' edm' hy lzbn zewr
that the triumphing of the wicked is short, the joy of the godless but for a moment?

ܐܢ ܢܣܩ ܠܫܡܝܐ ܪܘܡܗ ܘܪܝܫܗ ܠܥܢ̈ܢܐ ܢܡܛܐ
'n nsq lshmy' rwmh wryshh lenn' nmT'
Though his height mount up to the heavens, and his head reach to the clouds,

ܐܝܟ ܥܠܥܠܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܢܐܒܕ ܚ̈ܙܝܘܗܝ ܢܐܡܪܘܢ ܐܝܟܘ
'yk elel' lelm n'bd khzywhy n'mrwn 'ykw
yet he will perish forever like his own dung. Those who have seen him will say, ‘Where is he?’

ܘܐܝܟ ܚܠܡܐ ܢܦܪܚ ܘܠܐ ܢܫܬܟܚ ܘܢܦܪܕ ܐܝܟ ܚܙܘܐ ܕܠܠܝܐ
w'yk khlm' nprkh wl' nshthkkh wnprd 'yk khzw' dlly'
He will fly away as a dream, and will not be found. Yes, he will be chased away like a vision of the night.

ܥܝܢܐ ܕܚܙܬܗ ܬܘܒ ܠܐ ܬܘܣܦ ܠܡܚܙܝܗ ܘܠܐ ܬܘܒ ܢܚܘܪܘܢ ܐܬܪܗ
eyn' dkhzthh thwb l' thwsp lmkhzyh wl' thwb nkhwrwn 'thrh
The eye which saw him will see him no more, neither will his place see him any more.

ܒ̈ܢܘܗܝ ܢܬܬܒܪܘܢ ܒܡܣܟܢܘܬܐ ܘܐ̈ܝܕܘܗܝ ܢܘܫ̈ܛܢ ܒܝܠܕܗ
bnwhy nththbrwn bmsknwth' w'ydwhy nwshTn byldh
His children will seek the favor of the poor. His hands will give back his wealth.

ܓܪ̈ܡܘܗܝ ܡܠܝܢ ܡܘܚܐ ܘܥܡܗ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܢܫܟܒܘܢ
grmwhy mlyn mwkh' wemh el 're' nshkbwn
His bones are full of his youth, but youth will lie down with him in the dust.

ܐܢ ܬܒܣܡ ܒܦܘܡܗ ܒܝܫܬܗ ܘܢܟܠܐ ܬܚܝܬ ܠܫܢܗ ܢܛܫܝܘܗܝ
'n thbsm bpwmh byshthh wnkl' thkhyth lshnh nTshywhy
“Though wickedness is sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue,

ܢܚܘܣ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܘܠܐ ܢܫܒܩܝܘܗܝ ܘܢܟܠܝܘܗܝ ܒܓܘ ܚܫܟܗ
nkhws elwhy wl' nshbqywhy wnklywhy bgw khshkh
though he spare it, and will not let it go, but keep it still within his mouth,

ܠܚܡܗ ܒܡ̈ܥܘܗܝ ܢܬܗܦܟ ܘܡܪܬܐ ܕܬܢܝܢܐ ܒܓܘܗ
lkhmh bmewhy nthhpk wmrth' dthnyn' bgwh
yet his food in his bowels is turned. It is cobra venom within him.

ܘܡܐܟܘܠܬܐ ܕܒܠܥ ܢܬܝܒܝܗ̇ ܡܢ ܟܪܣܗ ܘܢܘܒܕܝܘܗܝ ܐܠܗܐ
wm'kwlth' dble nthybyh mn krsh wnwbdywhy 'lh'
He has swallowed down riches, and he will vomit them up again. God will cast them out of his belly.

ܡܪܬܐ ܕܦܬܢܐ ܢܐܢܩ ܘܠܫܢܐ ܕܐܣܦܣ ܢܩܛܠܝܘܗܝ
mrth' dpthn' n'nq wlshn' d'sps nqTlywhy
He will suck cobra venom. The viper’s tongue will kill him.

ܠܐ ܢܚܙܐ ܒܦܘܠܓܐ ܕܢܗܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܘܕܪ̈ܓܠܬܐ ܕܕܒܫܐ ܘܕܚܐܘܬܐ
l' nkhz' bpwlg' dnhrwth' wdrglth' ddbsh' wdkh'wth'
He will not look at the rivers, the flowing streams of honey and butter.

ܢܗܦܘܟ ܠܠܐܘܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܒܠܥ ܒܚܝܠ ܚܠܦܗ ܠܐ ܢܬܗܢܐ
nhpwk ll'wth' wl' nble bkhyl khlph l' nthhn'
He will restore that for which he labored, and will not swallow it down. He will not rejoice according to the substance that he has gotten.

ܕܐܬܪܥܝ ܠܡܫܒܩ ܠܡܣܟܢܐ ܘܒܝܬܐ ܕܚܛܘܦܝܐ ܠܐ ܢܬܒܢܐ
d'threy lmshbq lmskn' wbyth' dkhTwpy' l' nthbn'
For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor. He has violently taken away a house, and he will not build it up.

ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܕܝܢܗ ܒܟܪܣܗ ܘܒܪ̈ܓܝܓܬܗ ܠܐ ܢܬܦܠܛ
mTl dl' yde dynh bkrsh wbrgygthh l' nthplT
“Because he knew no quietness within him, he will not save anything of that in which he delights.

ܠܝܬ ܕܦ̇ܠܛ ܡܢ ܬ̈ܘܠܕܬܗ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܠܐ ܬܟܬܪ ܛܒܬܗ
lyth dplT mn thwldthh mTl hn' l' thkthr Tbthh
There was nothing left that he didn’t devour, therefore his prosperity will not endure.

ܒܟܝܠܬܐ ܕܐܟܝܠ ܢܬܦܪܥ ܘܟܠܗ̇ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܥ̇ܘ̈ܠܐ ܬܐܬܐ ܥܠܘܗܝ
bkylth' d'kyl nthpre wklh 'yd' dewl' th'th' elwhy
In the fullness of his sufficiency, distress will overtake him. The hand of everyone who is in misery will come on him.

ܘܢܗܘܐ ܠܐܒܕܢܐ ܒܛܢܗ ܘܢܓܪܐ ܒܗ ܚܡܬܐ ܕܪܘܓܙܗ ܘܢܡܛܪ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܒܩܪܒܬܢܘܬܗ
wnhw' l'bdn' bTnh wngr' bh khmth' drwgzh wnmTr elwhy bqrbthnwthh
When he is about to fill his belly, God will cast the fierceness of his wrath on him. It will rain on him while he is eating.

ܕܥ̇ܪܩ ܡܢ ܫܪܝܢܐ ܕܦܪܙܠܐ ܬܥܒܪ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܩܫܬܐ ܕܢܚܫܐ
derq mn shryn' dprzl' thebr elwhy qshth' dnkhsh'
He will flee from the iron weapon. The bronze arrow will strike him through.

ܬܫܡܘܛ ܘܬܦܩ ܓܘܝܗ ܘܡܫܟܐ ܕܡܪܪܬܗ ܢܬܒܙܥ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܐܡܝܢ ܬܘܩܦܐ
thshmwT wthpq gwyh wmshk' dmrrthh nthbze elwhy 'myn thwqp'
He draws it out, and it comes out of his body. Yes, the glittering point comes out of his liver. Terrors are on him.

ܘܟܠ ܚܫܘܟܐ ܛܡܝܪ ܠܬܘ̈ܠܕܬܗ ܬܐܟܠܝܘܗܝ ܢܘܪܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܦܝܚܐ ܘܢܐܒܫ ܣܪܝܕܐ ܒܡܫܟܢܗ
wkl khshwk' Tmyr lthwldthh th'klywhy nwr' dl' npykh' wn'bsh sryd' bmshknh
All darkness is laid up for his treasures. An unfanned fire will devour him. It will consume that which is left in his tent.

ܢܓܠܘܢ ܫܡܝܐ ܚ̈ܛܗܘܗܝ ܘܐܪܥܐ ܬܬܢܩܡ ܡܢܗ
nglwn shmy' khThwhy w're' ththnqm mnh
The heavens will reveal his iniquity. The earth will rise up against him.

ܢܬ̈ܓܠܝܢ ܫ̈ܬܐܣܐ ܕܒܝܬܗ ܘܢܬܢܓܕ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܪܘܓܙܐ
nthglyn shth's' dbythh wnthngd bywm' drwgz'
The increase of his house will depart. They will rush away in the day of his wrath.

ܗܕܐ ܗܝ ܡܢܬܗ ܕܒܪܢܫܐ ܪܫܝܥܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܝܪܬܘܬܐ ܕܡ̈ܠܘܗܝ ܡܢ ܡܪܘܡܐ
hd' hy mnthh dbrnsh' rshye' mn qdm 'lh' wyrthwth' dmlwhy mn mrwm'
This is the portion of a wicked man from God, the heritage appointed to him by God.”
