מטול דרעיוני מתיבן לי ומטול דרגישתי בי:
by drgyshthy wmTwl ly mthybn dreywny mTwl
“Therefore my thoughts answer me, even by reason of my haste that is in me.

מרדותא דכסופי אשמע והיך פוחא מן ביונתי יתיבינני:
ythybynny bywnthy mn pwkha whyk ashme dkswpy mrdwtha
I have heard the reproof which puts me to shame. The spirit of my understanding answers me.

הדא ידעתא מן אולא מן עדן דאשתוי בר נש עלוי ארעא:
area elwy nsh br dashthwy edn mn awla mn ydetha hda
Don’t you know this from old time, since man was placed on earth,

ארום בועת רשיעי שצית בעגל וחדות דילטור עד שעתא:
shetha ed dylTwr wkhdwth begl shtsyth rshyey bweth arwm
that the triumphing of the wicked is short, the joy of the godless but for a moment?

אין יסק לצית שמיא זוקפיה ורישיה לעננא ימטי:
ymTy lenna wryshyh zwqpyh shmya ltsyth ysq ayn
Though his height mount up to the heavens, and his head reach to the clouds,

היך רעיה לעלמא יהובד חמוי יימרון האן הוא:
hwa han yymrwn khmwy yhwbd lelma reyh hyk
yet he will perish forever like his own dung. Those who have seen him will say, ‘Where is he?’

היך חלמא יטוס ולא ישכחוניה יגלי היך חזותא דליליא:
dlylya khzwtha hyk ygly yshkkhwnyh wla yTws khlma hyk
He will fly away as a dream, and will not be found. Yes, he will be chased away like a vision of the night.

עינא סקרתיה ולא תוסיף ולא תוב תסכניה אתריה:
athryh thsknyh thwb wla thwsyp wla sqrthyh eyna
The eye which saw him will see him no more, neither will his place see him any more.

בנוי ירעעון מסכנין וידוי משלמן תקוף צעריה:
tseryh thqwp mshlmn wydwy msknyn yreewn bnwy
His children will seek the favor of the poor. His hands will give back his wealth.

גרמוי אתמליאו חיליה ובהדיה על עפרא תשכוב:
thshkwb epra el wbhdyh khylyh athmlyaw grmwy
His bones are full of his youth, but youth will lie down with him in the dust.

אין מתבסמא בפומיה בישתא יכדבנה תחות לישניה:
lyshnyh thkhwth ykdbnh byshtha bpwmyh mthbsma ayn
“Though wickedness is sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue,

יחוס עלה ולא ישבקנה ויכסנה במצע מוריגיה:
mwrygyh bmtse wyksnh yshbqnh wla elh ykhws
though he spare it, and will not let it go, but keep it still within his mouth,
14
מיכליה במעוי אתהפיך ארסא דחורמנין בגויה:
bgwyh dkhwrmnyn arsa athhpyk bmewy myklyh
yet his food in his bowels is turned. It is cobra venom within him.
15
נכסין דסלעם יפלט יתיה מכרסיה יתרכניה אלהא:
alha ythrknyh mkrsyh ythyh yplT dslem nksyn
He has swallowed down riches, and he will vomit them up again. God will cast them out of his belly.
16
רישי חורמניא יינק תקטלניה לשן חויא:
khwya lshn thqTlnyh yynq khwrmnya ryshy
He will suck cobra venom. The viper’s tongue will kill him.
17
לא יזכי למחמי בטיפי נהרות נחליא דמן דובשא ולוי :
wlwy dwbsha dmn nkhlya nhrwth bTypy lmkhmy yzky la
He will not look at the rivers, the flowing streams of honey and butter.
18
מתיב לאות חורנא ולא יגמר כדעתריה מתיהב שלחופיה ולא ידוץ:
ydwts wla shlkhwpyh mthyhb kdethryh ygmr wla khwrna lawth mthyb
He will restore that for which he labored, and will not swallow it down. He will not rejoice according to the substance that he has gotten.

ארום רעע עסקא דמסכנין ביתא אנס ולא בנא יתיה:
ythyh bna wla ans bytha dmsknyn esqa ree arwm
For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor. He has violently taken away a house, and he will not build it up.
20
ארום לא ידע דיהי שליו בכרסיה בגושמיה לא ישתזב:
yshthzb la bgwshmyh bkrsyh shlyw dyhy yde la arwm
“Because he knew no quietness within him, he will not save anything of that in which he delights.
21
לית משזב למכליה מטול היכנא לא יוריך טוביה:
Twbyh ywryk la hykna mTwl lmklyh mshzb lyth
There was nothing left that he didn’t devour, therefore his prosperity will not endure.
22
תתמלי סאתיה יתפרע מניה כל אידא דלעי תיתניה:
thythnyh dley ayda kl mnyh ythpre sathyh ththmly
In the fullness of his sufficiency, distress will overtake him. The hand of everyone who is in misery will come on him.

יהי לממלי כרסיה יגרי ביה תקוף רוגזיה ויחת עלוי מטרין בשלדיה:
bshldyh mTryn elwy wykhth rwgzyh thqwp byh ygry krsyh lmmly yhy
When he is about to fill his belly, God will cast the fierceness of his wrath on him. It will rain on him while he is eating.

יערוק מן זיני פרזלא תשלחפניה קשתא דכרכומא:
dkrkwma qshtha thshlkhpnyh przla zyny mn yerwq
He will flee from the iron weapon. The bronze arrow will strike him through.
25
שלף ונפק מתיקה וברקא ממרירתיה יהלוך עלוי דחיליא:
dkhylya elwy yhlwk mmryrthyh wbrqa mthyqh wnpq shlp
He draws it out, and it comes out of his body. Yes, the glittering point comes out of his liver. Terrors are on him.

כל חשוכא טמיע לטשיותיה תגמרניה נור דגהנם דלא נפיח ישרי משזב במשכניה:
bmshknyh mshzb yshry npykh dla dghnm nwr thgmrnyh lTshywthyh Tmye khshwka kl
All darkness is laid up for his treasures. An unfanned fire will devour him. It will consume that which is left in his tent.

יפרסמון אנגלי מרומא סורחניה ודירי ארעא יקומון למבאשא ליה:
lyh lmbasha yqwmwn area wdyry swrkhnyh mrwma angly yprsmwn
The heavens will reveal his iniquity. The earth will rise up against him.
28
יטלטל עבור ביתיה משחיה וחמריה מזדלפן ביומא דרוגזיה:
drwgzyh bywma mzdlpn wkhmryh mshkhyh bythyh ebwr yTlTl
The increase of his house will depart. They will rush away in the day of his wrath.
