עד אימת תנקטון נפשי ותשפפונני במליא:
bmlya wthshppwnny npshy thnqTwn aymth ed
“How long will you torment me, and crush me with words?

דנן עסר זמנין תכספונני לא תבהתון תשתמודעון לי:
ly thshthmwdewn thbhthwn la thkspwnny zmnyn esr dnn
You have reproached me ten times. You aren’t ashamed that you attack me.

וברם בקושטא שליתי גבי תבית שלותי:
shlwthy thbyth gby shlythy bqwshTa wbrm
If it is true that I have erred, my error remains with myself.

אין בקושטא עלי תתרברבון ותכסנון עלי חסודי:
khswdy ely wthksnwn ththrbrbwn ely bqwshTa ayn
If indeed you will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach,

ידעו השתא ארום אלהא תקפני וסריגיה עלי אחזר:
akhzr ely wsrygyh thqpny alha arwm hshtha ydew
know now that God has subverted me, and has surrounded me with his net.

הא אקבל מן קדם חטוף ולא אתותב אצלי ולית דינא:
dyna wlyth atsly athwthb wla khTwp qdm mn aqbl ha
“Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard. I cry for help, but there is no justice.

אסרטי חטר ולא אעבר ועל שבילי חשוך ישוי:
yshwy khshwk shbyly wel aebr wla khTr asrTy
He has walled up my way so that I can’t pass, and has set darkness in my paths.

איקרי מעלוי אשלח ואעדי כלילי דרישי:
dryshy klyly waedy ashlkh melwy ayqry
He has stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.

יצדנני חזור חזור ואיזיל ואטל היך קסא סברי:
sbry qsa hyk waTl wayzyl khzwr khzwr ytsdnny
He has broken me down on every side, and I am gone. He has plucked my hope up like a tree.

ותקף עלי רוגזיה ותחשבנני ליה היך מעיקוהי:
meyqwhy hyk lyh wthkhshbnny rwgzyh ely wthqp
He has also kindled his wrath against me. He counts me among his adversaries.

כחדא ייתון אוכלוסוהי וכבשו עלי ארחתהון ושרון חזור חזור למשכני:
lmshkny khzwr khzwr wshrwn arkhthhwn ely wkbshw awklwswhy yythwn kkhda
His troops come on together, build a siege ramp against me, and encamp around my tent.

אחי מעלוי ארחיק וידעי אתעבידו חילונאי מני:
mny khylwnay athebydw wydey arkhyq melwy akhy
“He has put my brothers far from me. My acquaintances are wholly estranged from me.

פסקו קריבי ומידעי אנשיוני:
anshywny wmydey qryby psqw
My relatives have gone away. My familiar friends have forgotten me.

דירי ביתי ולחינתי לחילוני יחשבונני היך בר עממין הויתי במחמיהון:
bmkhmyhwn hwythy emmyn br hyk ykhshbwnny lkhylwny wlkhynthy bythy dyry
Those who dwell in my house and my maids consider me a stranger. I am an alien in their sight.

לעבדי קריתי ולא יתיב בפומי אבעא מניה:
mnyh abea bpwmy ythyb wla qrythy lebdy
I call to my servant, and he gives me no answer. I beg him with my mouth.
17
רוחי נוכריתא לאנתתי ואתחננית לבר מעי:
mey lbr wathkhnnyth lanththy nwkrytha rwkhy
My breath is offensive to my wife. I am loathsome to the children of my own mother.
18
לחוד ינקיא רחקו מימרי אקום וממללין מני:
mny wmmllyn aqwm mymry rkhqw ynqya lkhwd
Even young children despise me. If I arise, they speak against me.
19
רחקו יתי כל אנשי רזי ודין די רחמית אתהפכו בי:
by athhpkw rkhmyth dy wdyn rzy anshy kl ythy rkhqw
All my familiar friends abhor me. They whom I loved have turned against me.
20
במשכי ובבסרי דבקת גרמי ואשתתרית במשך ככי:
kky bmshk washththryth grmy dbqth wbbsry bmshky
My bones stick to my skin and to my flesh. I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.
21
חוסו עלי חוסו עלי אתון חברי ארום מחתא דיי קריבת בי:
by qrybth dyy mkhtha arwm khbry athwn ely khwsw ely khwsw
“Have pity on me. Have pity on me, you my friends, for the hand of God has touched me.
22
למא תרדפונני דכמת אלהא ומבסרי לא תסבעון:
thsbewn la wmbsry alha dkmth thrdpwnny lma
Why do you persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?

מן יהב יתי ויכתבון מלי מן יהב בפתקא ויתרשמון:
wythrshmwn bpthqa yhb mn mly wykthbwn ythy yhb mn
“Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book!

בקולמוס דפרזלא וכרכמישא לעלמא בטינרא יתפסלן:
ythpsln bTynra lelma wkrkmysha dprzla bqwlmws
That with an iron pen and lead they were engraved in the rock forever!
25
ואנא ידעית דפריקי קים ומן בתר כדין פורקניה על עפרא יקום:
yqwm epra el pwrqnyh kdyn bthr wmn qym dpryqy ydeyth wana
But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives. In the end, he will stand upon the earth.

ומן בתר דאתפח משכי תהי דא ומבסרי אחמי תוב אלהא:
alha thwb akhmy wmbsry da thhy mshky dathpkh bthr wmn
After my skin is destroyed, then I will see God in my flesh,
27
די אנא אחמי לי ועיני יחמון ולא חילוני שלימו כליתי בעובי:
bewby klythy shlymw khylwny wla ykhmwn weyny ly akhmy ana dy
whom I, even I, will see on my side. My eyes will see, and not as a stranger. “My heart is consumed within me.

ארום תמרון מה נרדף ליה ועקר מלתא נשכח ביה:
byh nshkkh mltha weqr lyh nrdp mh thmrwn arwm
If you say, ‘How we will persecute him!’ because the root of the matter is found in me,

דחולו לכון מן קדם חרבא ארום בדרגיז אלהא על סורחנותא מגרי קטולין דחרבא מן בגלל דתנדעון דדין קשוט הוא מרי דינא:
dyna mry hwa qshwT ddyn dthndewn bgll mn dkhrba qTwlyn mgry swrkhnwtha el alha bdrgyz arwm khrba qdm mn lkwn dkhwlw
be afraid of the sword, for wrath brings the punishments of the sword, that you may know there is a judgment.”
