נפשי מתחבלא יומי דעיכו קבורן מתקנן לי:
ly mthqnn qbwrn deykw ywmy mthkhbla npshy
“My spirit is consumed. My days are extinct and the grave is ready for me.

אין לא מתלעבין בהדי ובפרוגיהון תבית עיני:
eyny thbyth wbprwgyhwn bhdy mthlebyn la ayn
Surely there are mockers with me. My eye dwells on their provocation.

שוי כדון ערב יתי עמך מן הוא לידי יקים:
yqym lydy hwa mn emk ythy erb kdwn shwy
“Now give a pledge. Be collateral for me with yourself. Who is there who will strike hands with me?

ארום לבהון אטשתא מסכלתנו מטול היכנא לא תרומם להום:
lhwm thrwmm la hykna mTwl msklthnw aTshtha lbhwn arwm
For you have hidden their heart from understanding, therefore you will not exalt them.

למפלג על אחוית חבריא ועיני בנוי תשתיצון:
thshthytswn bnwy weyny khbrya akhwyth el lmplg
He who denounces his friends for plunder, even the eyes of his children will fail.

ועתדני למתלין בעמיא וגהנם מן לגיו אהי:
ahy lgyw mn wghnm bemya lmthlyn wethdny
“But he has made me a byword of the people. They spit in my face.

וכהית מן רגיז עיני וקלסתורי היך טולא כולהון:
kwlhwn Twla hyk wqlsthwry eyny rgyz mn wkhyth
My eye also is dim by reason of sorrow. All my members are as a shadow.

ישתקון תריצי על דא ודכי על דילטור יתגבר:
ythgbr dylTwr el wdky da el thrytsy yshthqwn
Upright men will be astonished at this. The innocent will stir himself up against the godless.

ויוחד צדיקא אורחיה ודכי אידי יוסיף אתחילותא:
athkhylwtha ywsyp aydy wdky awrkhyh tsdyqa wywkhd
Yet the righteous will hold to his way. He who has clean hands will grow stronger and stronger.

וברם כולהון תתובון אתו כדון ולא אשכח בכון חכם:
khkm bkwn ashkkh wla kdwn athw ththwbwn kwlhwn wbrm
But as for you all, come back. I will not find a wise man among you.

יומי עברו רעיוני אתבטילו לוחי לבבי:
lbby lwkhy athbTylw reywny ebrw ywmy
My days are past. My plans are broken off, as are the thoughts of my heart.

ליליא היך יממא ישוון נהורא קריב מסלקין מן קדם חשוכא:
khshwka qdm mn mslqyn qryb nhwra yshwwn ymma hyk lylya
They change the night into day, saying ‘The light is near’ in the presence of darkness.

אין אנא סבר דבי קבורתא ביתי בחשוכא מאכית שוויי:
shwwyy makyth bkhshwka bythy qbwrtha dby sbr ana ayn
If I look for Sheol as my house, if I have spread my couch in the darkness,

לשחתא קריתי אבא אנת אמי ואחתי לרחשא:
lrkhsha wakhthy amy anth aba qrythy lshkhtha
if I have said to corruption, ‘You are my father,’ and to the worm, ‘My mother,’ and ‘My sister,’

והאן דיכי סברי ומתינתי מן יסכנה:
ysknh mn wmthynthy sbry dyky whan
where then is my hope? As for my hope, who will see it?
