ܒܩܘܫܬܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܥܡܐ ܘܥܡܟܘܢ ܬܡܘܬ ܚܟܡܬܐ
khkmth' thmwth wemkwn em' 'nwn 'nthwn bqwshth'
“No doubt, but you are the people, and wisdom will die with you.

ܐܦ ܠܝ ܠܒܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܝ ܐܟܘܬܟܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܒܨܝܪ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܠܡ̇ܢ ܗ̈ܘܝ ܐܝܟ ܗܠܝܢ
hlyn 'yk hwy lmn mnkwn btsyr hwyth wl' 'kwthkwn ly 'yth lb' ly 'p
But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Yes, who doesn’t know such things as these?

ܘܗܘܐ ܓܘܚܟܐ ܠܚܒܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܘܩܪܐ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܘܥܢܝܗܝ ܕܨ̇ܒܐ ܒܙܕܝ̈ܩܐ ܕܠܐ ܡܘܡ
mwm dl' bzdyq' dtsb' wenyhy l'lh' wqr' lkhbrwhy gwkhk' whw'
I am like one who is a joke to his neighbor, I, who called on God, and he answered. The just, the blameless man is a joke.

ܠܡܦܪܩܘ ܫܛܝܘܬܐ ܘܥܘܠܐ ܘܠܡܬܩܢܘ ܪܓܠܐ ܡܙܥܬܐ
mzeth' rgl' wlmthqnw wewl' shTywth' lmprqw
In the thought of him who is at ease there is contempt for misfortune. It is ready for them whose foot slips.

ܢܫܢܘܢ ܡܫ̈ܟܢܝܗܘܢ ܕܒܙܘ̈ܙܐ ܘܬܘܟܠܢܗܘܢ ܕܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܪܓܙܝܢ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܝܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܒܠܒܗܘܢ

The tents of robbers prosper. Those who provoke God are secure, who carry their god in their hands.

ܘܐܠܐ ܫ̇ܐܠ ܠܚܝܘܬܐ ܘܬܠܦܟ ܘܠܦܪܚܬܐ ܕܫܡܝܐ ܘܬܚܘܝܟ

“But ask the animals now, and they will teach you; the birds of the sky, and they will tell you.

ܘܐܫܬܥܐ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܘܬܠܦܟ ܘܢܫܬܥܘܢ ܠܟ ܢܘ̈ܢܐ ܕܒܝܡܐ
dbym' nwn' lk wnshthewn wthlpk l're' w'shthe'
Or speak to the earth, and it will teach you. The fish of the sea will declare to you.

ܡܢܘ ܕܠܐ ܝ̇ܕܥ ܒܗܠܝܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܕܐܝܕܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܥܒܕܬ ܗܠܝܢ
hlyn ebdth dmry' d'ydh klhyn bhlyn yde dl' mnw
Who doesn’t know that in all these, Yahweh’s hand has done this,

ܡܛܠ ܕܒܐܝܕܗ ܐ̈ܢܝܢ ܢܦܫ̈ܬܐ ܕܟܠ ܕܚܝ ܘܪܘܚܐ ܕܟܠ ܒܣܪ ܘܐܢܫ
w'nsh bsr dkl wrwkh' dkhy dkl npshth' 'nyn db'ydh mTl
in whose hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind?

ܐܕܢܐ ܫ̇ܡܥܐ ܡ̈ܠܐ ܘܚܟܐ ܛܥ̇ܡ ܡܐܟܘܠܬܐ
m'kwlth' Tem wkhk' ml' shme' 'dn'
Doesn’t the ear try words, even as the palate tastes its food?

ܘܒܩܫܝ̈ܫܐ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܘܒܢܘܓܪܐ ܕܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܒܘܝܢܐ
bwyn' dywmth' wbnwgr' khkmth' wbqshysh'
With aged men is wisdom, in length of days understanding.

ܥܡܗ ܗܝ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܘܓܢܒܪܘܬܐ ܕܝܠܗ ܗܝ ܬܪܥܝܬܐ ܘܒܘܝܢܐ
wbwyn' threyth' hy dylh wgnbrwth' khkmth' hy emh
“With God is wisdom and might. He has counsel and understanding.

ܗܐ ܐܢ ܣ̇ܚܦ ܡܢܘ ܒ̇ܢܐ ܘܐܢ ܐܚ̇ܕ ܒܐ̈ܦܝ ܐܢܫ ܡܢܘ ܦ̇ܬܚ
pthkh mnw 'nsh b'py 'khd w'n bn' mnw skhp 'n h'
Behold, he breaks down, and it can’t be built again. He imprisons a man, and there can be no release.

ܐܢ ܓ̇ܥܪ ܒܡ̈ܝܐ ܝܒܫܝܢ ܘܐܢ ܡܫܕܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܗܦܟܝܢ ܐܪܥܐ
're' hpkyn lhwn mshdr w'n ybshyn bmy' ger 'n
Behold, he withholds the waters, and they dry up. Again, he sends them out, and they overturn the earth.

ܕܝܠܗ ܗܘ ܬܘܩܦܐ ܘܚܟܡܬܐ ܕܝܠܗ ܗܘ ܥܘܫܢܐ ܘܦܘܪܩܢܐ
wpwrqn' ewshn' hw dylh wkhkmth' thwqp' hw dylh
With him is strength and wisdom. The deceived and the deceiver are his.

ܡܕܒܪ ܠܡ̈ܠܟܐ ܒܬܡܗܐ ܘܠܕܝ̇ܢܐ̈ ܡܫܛܐ
mshT' wldyn' bthmh' lmlk' mdbr
He leads counselors away stripped. He makes judges fools.

ܡ̇ܚܬ ܡ̈ܠܟܝܢ ܠܬܪܥܐ ܘܐ̇ܣܪ ܚ̈ܙܩܐ ܒܚ̈ܨܝܗܘܢ
bkhtsyhwn khzq' w'sr lthre' mlkyn mkhth
He loosens the bond of kings. He binds their waist with a belt.

ܡܕܒܪ ܠܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܒܬܡܗܐ ܘܠܥܫ̈ܝܢܐ ܡܫܦܠ
mshpl wleshyn' bthmh' lkhn' mdbr
He leads priests away stripped, and overthrows the mighty.
20
ܡܥܒܪ ܡܡܠܠܐ ܡܢ ܡܗ̈ܝܡܢܐ ܘܛܥܡܐ ܕܣ̈ܒܐ ܫ̇ܩܠ
shql dsb' wTem' mhymn' mn mmll' mebr
He removes the speech of those who are trusted, and takes away the understanding of the elders.

ܐܫ̇ܕ ܫܛܝܘܬܐ ܥܠ ܫ̈ܠܝܛܢܐ ܘܚܠܝܨܘܬܗܘܢ ܕܬܩ̈ܝܦܐ ܡܪܦܐ
mrp' dthqyp' wkhlytswthhwn shlyTn' el shTywth' 'shd
He pours contempt on princes, and loosens the belt of the strong.

ܡܓܠܐ ܥܡܝ̈ܩܬܐ ܡܢ ܚܫܘܟܐ ܘܡ̇ܦܩ ܠܢܘܗܪܐ ܡܢ ܛ̈ܠܠܝ ܡܘܬܐ
mwth' Tlly mn lnwhr' wmpq khshwk' mn emyqth' mgl'
He uncovers deep things out of darkness, and brings out to light the shadow of death.

ܡܛܥܐ ܠܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܘܡܒܕܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܫ̇ܛܚ ܠܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܘܡܘܒܕ ܠܗܘܢ ܫ̇ܛܚ ܠܐ̈ܡܘܬܐ ܘܫ̇ܒܩ ܠܗܝܢ
lhyn wshbq l'mwth' shTkh lhwn wmwbd lemm' shTkh lhwn wmbdr lemm' mTe'
He increases the nations, and he destroys them. He enlarges the nations, and he leads them captive.

ܡܫܛܐ ܠܒܐ ܕܪ̈ܫܘܗܝ ܕܥܡܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܘܡܛܥܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܒܬܘܫܐ ܕܠܐ ܐܘܪܚܐ
'wrkh' dl' bthwsh' lhwn wmTe' d're' dem' drshwhy lb' mshT'
He takes away understanding from the chiefs of the people of the earth, and causes them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
