בקושטא ארום אתון חבריא ועמכון תסוף חוכמתא:
khwkmtha thswp wemkwn khbrya athwn arwm bqwshTa
“No doubt, but you are the people, and wisdom will die with you.

לחוד לי לבא דכמתכון לא פריש אנא מנכון ועם מן לית דכמת אילין:
aylyn dkmth lyth mn wem mnkwn ana prysh la dkmthkwn lba ly lkhwd
But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Yes, who doesn’t know such things as these?

חוכא לחבריה אהי דקרי לאלהא ועני יתיה חיך לזכאה שלימא:
shlyma lzkah khyk ythyh weny lalha dqry ahy lkhbryh khwka
I am like one who is a joke to his neighbor, I, who called on God, and he answered. The just, the blameless man is a joke.

אודא דבסיר לרשיעא מן מחשכא שלו מכון להרפתקי זמנא: ת״א בוערא בסיר לעשו דמן מחשבתא רחיץ שלו ברם הוא מעתד לאזדעזעת רגלא:
rgla lazdezeth methd hwa brm shlw rkhyts mkhshbtha dmn leshw bsyr bwera tha zmna lhrpthqy mkwn shlw mkhshka mn lrshyea dbsyr awda
In the thought of him who is at ease there is contempt for misfortune. It is ready for them whose foot slips.

ובני עשו דשלוין במשכניהון יתמסרון לבזוזין ובני ישמעאל דרחיצין יתמסרין לשאר אומיא דמרגיזין אלהא דכמתהון דזמן אלהא בידיה: ת״א ובני ישמעאל דשלוין במשכניהון יתמסרון לבזוזין ועמונאי ומואבאי דשרין לרחצן יתמסרון ביד רשיעיא דמרגזין אלוה היך פרעה דאיתיה אלוה עלוהי מחתא בידיה:
bydyh mkhtha elwhy alwh daythyh preh hyk alwh dmrgzyn rshyeya byd ythmsrwn lrkhtsn dshryn wmwabay wemwnay lbzwzyn ythmsrwn bmshknyhwn dshlwyn yshmeal wbny tha bydyh alha dzmn dkmthhwn alha dmrgyzyn awmya lshar ythmsryn drkhytsyn yshmeal wbny lbzwzyn ythmsrwn bmshknyhwn dshlwyn eshw wbny
The tents of robbers prosper. Those who provoke God are secure, who carry their god in their hands.

וברם שיל כדון בעירי וילפונך ועופא דשמיא ויחוי לך:
lk wykhwy dshmya wewpa wylpwnk beyry kdwn shyl wbrm
“But ask the animals now, and they will teach you; the birds of the sky, and they will tell you.

או מלל לארעא ותלפנך וישתעון לך נוני ימא:
yma nwny lk wyshthewn wthlpnk larea mll aw
Or speak to the earth, and it will teach you. The fish of the sea will declare to you.

מן לא ידע בכל אלין ארום מחת ידא דיי עבדת דא:
da ebdth dyy yda mkhth arwm alyn bkl yde la mn
Who doesn’t know that in all these, Yahweh’s hand has done this,

די בידיה נפשתא דכל חי ורוחא דכל בסר גבר:
gbr bsr dkl wrwkha khy dkl npshtha bydyh dy
in whose hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind?

הלא אודנא מלין תבחן ומוריגא מיכלא יטעם ליה:
lyh yTem mykla wmwryga thbkhn mlyn awdna hla
Doesn’t the ear try words, even as the palate tastes its food?

בקשישיא חכמתא ונוגדי יומין בינתא:
byntha ywmyn wnwgdy khkmtha bqshyshya
With aged men is wisdom, in length of days understanding.

עמיה חוכמתא וגבורתא דיליה מלכא ובינתא:
wbyntha mlka dylyh wgbwrtha khwkmtha emyh
“With God is wisdom and might. He has counsel and understanding.

הא יצדי ולא יתבני יסגור על גבר בקבורתא ולא יתפתח:
ythpthkh wla bqbwrtha gbr el ysgwr ythbny wla ytsdy ha
Behold, he breaks down, and it can’t be built again. He imprisons a man, and there can be no release.

הא אחד במיא ומתיבשין וכד ישלחנון מתהפכין בארעא:
barea mthhpkyn yshlkhnwn wkd wmthybshyn bmya akhd ha
Behold, he withholds the waters, and they dry up. Again, he sends them out, and they overturn the earth.

גביה עושנא וחוכמתא די ליה שלי ומשלי:
wmshly shly lyh dy wkhwkmtha ewshna gbyh
With him is strength and wisdom. The deceived and the deceiver are his.
17
דמוביל מרי מלכיא כד משתלשלין ונגודיא יתעלב:
ythelb wngwdya mshthlshlyn kd mlkya mry dmwbyl
He leads counselors away stripped. He makes judges fools.
18
שושילתא דמלכיא משרי ואסר קמור בחרציהון:
bkhrtsyhwn qmwr wasr mshry dmlkya shwshyltha
He loosens the bond of kings. He binds their waist with a belt.
19
דמוליך רברבניא בבזתא ותקיפיא מקלקל:
mqlql wthqypya bbztha rbrbnya dmwlyk
He leads priests away stripped, and overthrows the mighty.
20
מעדי קשוט ספותא ממהימנין וטעם סביא יסלק:
yslq sbya wTem mmhymnyn spwtha qshwT medy
He removes the speech of those who are trusted, and takes away the understanding of the elders.

שדי בסרנותא על סרכיא ותקוף תקיפיא מחלש:
mkhlsh thqypya wthqwp srkya el bsrnwtha shdy
He pours contempt on princes, and loosens the belt of the strong.
22
מגלי עמיקתא מן חשוכא ומפק לנהורא טולי מותא:
mwtha Twly lnhwra wmpq khshwka mn emyqtha mgly
He uncovers deep things out of darkness, and brings out to light the shadow of death.

מפיש לעממיא ומאבדנון משטח מצודתא לאומיא ודברנון:
wdbrnwn lawmya mtswdtha mshTkh wmabdnwn lemmya mpysh
He increases the nations, and he destroys them. He enlarges the nations, and he leads them captive.
24
מעדי חכמת לבא דרישי עמא דארעא ומתענון בלמא דלית אורחא:
awrkha dlyth blma wmthenwn darea ema dryshy lba khkmth medy
He takes away understanding from the chiefs of the people of the earth, and causes them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
