אפשר דמסגי מליא לא יתותב ואין בר נש מרי שפון יזכי:
yzky shpwn mry nsh br wayn ythwthb la mlya dmsgy apshr
“Shouldn’t the multitude of words be answered? Should a man full of talk be justified?

כדבוביך גובריא משתקין ודחבתא ולית דמכסף:
dmksp wlyth wdkhbtha mshthqyn gwbrya kdbwbyk
Should your boastings make men hold their peace? When you mock, will no man make you ashamed?

ותימר דכי אולפני ובריר הויתי בעינך:
beynk hwythy wbryr awlpny dky wthymr
For you say, ‘My doctrine is pure. I am clean in your eyes.’

וברם מן יתן אלהא ממלל ויפתח שפותוהי עמך:
emk shpwthwhy wypthkh mmll alha ythn mn wbrm
But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against you,

ויחוי לך כסוין דחוכמתא ארום כופלא לחוכמתא ודע ארום אנשי לך אלהא מעוינך:
mewynk alha lk anshy arwm wde lkhwkmtha kwpla arwm dkhwkmtha kswyn lk wykhwy
that he would show you the secrets of wisdom! For true wisdom has two sides. Know therefore that God exacts of you less than your iniquity deserves.

אפשר דפשפוש אלהא תשכח אין עד סיפי שדי תשכח:
thshkkh shdy sypy ed ayn thshkkh alha dpshpwsh apshr
“Can you fathom the mystery of God? Or can you probe the limits of the Almighty?

בגבהי שמיא מה את עבד באוריתא דעמיקא מן שיול מה את ידע:
yde ath mh shywl mn demyqa bawrytha ebd ath mh shmya bgbhy
They are high as heaven. What can you do? They are deeper than Sheol. What can you know?

דנגידא יתיר מן ארעא משחתה ופתיה יתיר מן ימא:
yma mn ythyr wpthyh mshkhthh area mn ythyr dngyda
Its measure is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.

אין יחלוף וייחוד שמיא בענני ויכנוש משרין מן יתיבניה:
ythybnyh mn mshryn wyknwsh benny shmya wyykhwd ykhlwp ayn
If he passes by, or confines, or convenes a court, then who can oppose him?

ארום הוא חכים גברי שקרא ואפשר דחמי שקר ולא אתבין:
athbyn wla shqr dkhmy wapshr shqra gbry khkym hwa arwm
For he knows false men. He sees iniquity also, even though he doesn’t consider it.

וגבר חריף יתחכם לביה ועילא דמרודא היך בר נש אתיליד: ת״א ובר נש מפלפל ידיק ועולם מסרבן דאתבן גברא רבא מתעבד:
mthebd rba gbra dathbn msrbn wewlm ydyq mplpl nsh wbr tha athylyd nsh br hyk dmrwda weyla lbyh ythkhkm khryp wgbr
An empty-headed man becomes wise when a man is born as a wild donkey’s colt.

אין את כונתא לבך ותפרוס לותיה בצלו ידיך:
ydyk btslw lwthyh wthprws lbk kwntha ath ayn
“If you set your heart aright, stretch out your hands toward him.

אין שקר בידך רחק יתיה ולא תשרי במשכנך עולא:
ewla bmshknk thshry wla ythyh rkhq bydk shqr ayn
If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away. Don’t let unrighteousness dwell in your tents.

ארום הידין תזקוף אפיך דלא מום ותהוי סנין מחבולא ולא תדחל:
thdkhl wla mkhbwla snyn wthhwy mwm dla apyk thzqwp hydyn arwm
Surely then you will lift up your face without spot. Yes, you will be steadfast, and will not fear,

ארום את לעות תתנשי היך מוי דעברו תדכר:
thdkr debrw mwy hyk ththnshy lewth ath arwm
for you will forget your misery. You will remember it like waters that have passed away.
17
ומטהר יומיך יקום גושמך דהלך בגרגושתא דפעפועא דקבלא היך צפרא תהוי:
thhwy tspra hyk dqbla dpepwea bgrgwshtha dhlk gwshmk yqwm ywmyk wmThr
Life will be clearer than the noonday. Though there is darkness, it will be as the morning.

ותתרחיץ ארום אית סבר ותתקין בי קבורתא לרוחצן תשכוב:
thshkwb lrwkhtsn qbwrtha by wththqyn sbr ayth arwm wththrkhyts
You will be secure, because there is hope. Yes, you will search, and will take your rest in safety.
19
ותרבע ולא דמניד וישחרון אפך סגיעין:
sgyeyn apk wyshkhrwn dmnyd wla wthrbe
Also you will lie down, and no one will make you afraid. Yes, many will court your favor.
