הליכו בשוקי ירושלם וחזו כען ודעו ובעו ברחובהא אם תשכחון גבר דליה עובדין טבין אם אית עביד דין דקשוט בעי הימנותא ואשבוק להון:
lhwn washbwq hymnwtha bey dqshwT dyn ebyd ayth am Tbyn ewbdyn dlyh gbr thshkkhwn am brkhwbha wbew wdew ken wkhzw yrwshlm bshwqy hlykw
“Run back and forth through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in its wide places, if you can find a man, if there is anyone who does justly, who seeks truth, then I will pardon her.

ואם בשמא דיי ימן בכן לשקרא אינון משתבעין:
mshthbeyn aynwn lshqra bkn ymn dyy bshma wam
Though they say, ‘As Yahweh lives,’ surely they swear falsely.”

יי הלא גלי קדמך לאוטבא לעבדי הימנותא רשיעיא אלקיתא יתהון ולא תבו שיציתינון סריבו לקבלא אולפן אתקיפו אפיהון מטינרא מסרבין למיתב:
lmythb msrbyn mTynra apyhwn athqypw awlpn lqbla srybw shytsythynwn thbw wla ythhwn alqytha rshyeya hymnwtha lebdy lawTba qdmk gly hla yy
O Yahweh, don’t your eyes look on truth? You have stricken them, but they were not grieved. You have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction. They have made their faces harder than a rock. They have refused to return.

ואנא אמרת ברם מדמסכנין אינון אטפשו ארי לא אליפו למידע אורחן דתקנן קדם יי למעבד דין דקשוט קדם אלההון:
alhhwn qdm dqshwT dyn lmebd yy qdm dthqnn awrkhn lmyde alypw la ary aTpshw aynwn mdmsknyn brm amrth wana
Then I said, “Surely these are poor. They are foolish; for they don’t know Yahweh’s way, nor the law of their God.

אהך לי לות רברביא ואמליל עמהון ארי אינון אליפו למידע אורחן דתקנן קדם יי למעבד דין דקשוט קדם אלההון ברם אינון כחדא מרדו מן אוריתא אתרחקו מן אולפנא:
awlpna mn athrkhqw awrytha mn mrdw kkhda aynwn brm alhhwn qdm dqshwT dyn lmebd yy qdm dthqnn awrkhn lmyde alypw aynwn ary emhwn wamlyl rbrbya lwth ly ahk
I will go to the great men and will speak to them, for they know the way of Yahweh, and the law of their God.” But these with one accord have broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.

על כן מלך במשריתיה יסק עליהון כאריא מחורשא ויקטלינון עממיא דתקיפין כדיבי רמשא יבזוזונון שלטונין דחסינין כנמרא כמנין על קרויהון כל דיפוק מנהון יתקטיל ארי סגיאין מרדיהון תקיפין תיובתהון:
thywbthhwn thqypyn mrdyhwn sgyayn ary ythqTyl mnhwn dypwq kl qrwyhwn el kmnyn knmra dkhsynyn shlTwnyn ybzwzwnwn rmsha kdyby dthqypyn emmya wyqTlynwn mkhwrsha karya elyhwn ysq bmshrythyh mlk kn el
Therefore a lion out of the forest will kill them. A wolf of the evenings will destroy them. A leopard will watch against their cities. Everyone who goes out there will be torn in pieces, because their transgressions are many and their backsliding has increased.

נביא אמר ליה כנשתא דישראל על אידא אשבוק לכון אנא קריתי לכון בגין ואינון שבקו פולחני ומקימין בשום טעותא עוד שבעית יתהון טובא ואינון תבו למהוי זנאין ובית נפקת ברא מסתיעין:
msthyeyn bra npqth wbyth znayn lmhwy thbw waynwn Twba ythhwn shbeyth ewd Tewtha bshwm wmqymyn pwlkhny shbqw waynwn bgyn lkwn qrythy ana lkwn ashbwq ayda el dyshral knshtha lyh amr nbya
“How can I pardon you? Your children have forsaken me, and sworn by what are no gods. When I had fed them to the full, they committed adultery, and assembled themselves in troops at the prostitutes’ houses.

סוסון אגיריסין אחרין הוו גבר על אתת חבריה מצוחין:
mtswkhyn khbryh athth el gbr hww akhryn agyrysyn swswn
They were as fed horses roaming at large. Everyone neighed after his neighbor’s wife.

העל אלין לא אסער לאיתאה עליהון בישתא אמר יי ואם מן עמא דכדין עובדוהי לא אתפרע מנהון כרעותי:
krewthy mnhwn athpre la ewbdwhy dkdyn ema mn wam yy amr byshtha elyhwn laythah aser la alyn hel
Shouldn’t I punish them for these things?” says Yahweh. “Shouldn’t my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

סקו בקרוהא וחבילו וגמירא לא תעבדון פגרו ברניתהא ארי לא רעוא קדם יי בהון:
bhwn yy qdm rewa la ary brnythha pgrw thebdwn la wgmyra wkhbylw bqrwha sqw
“Go up on her walls, and destroy, but don’t make a full end. Take away her branches, for they are not Yahweh’s.

ארי שקרא שקרו במימרי בית ישראל ובית יהודה אמר יי:
yy amr yhwdh wbyth yshral byth bmymry shqrw shqra ary
For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me,” says Yahweh.

כדיבו במימרא דיי ואמרו לא מן קדמוהי אתיא עלנא טבתא ואף לא תיתי עלנא בישתא ודקטלין בחרבא ובכפנא לא נחזי:
nkhzy la wbkpna bkhrba wdqTlyn byshtha elna thythy la wap Tbtha elna athya qdmwhy mn la wamrw dyy bmymra kdybw
They have denied Yahweh, and said, “It is not he. Evil won’t come on us. We won’t see sword or famine.

ונביי שקרא יהון ללמא ונבואת שקריהון לא תתקים דא פורענותא תתעביד מנהון:
mnhwn ththebyd pwrenwtha da ththqym la shqryhwn wnbwath llma yhwn shqra wnbyy
The prophets will become wind, and the word is not in them. Thus it will be done to them.”

בכן כדנן אמר יי אלהים צבאות חלף דאתנביתון ית פתגמא הדין הא אנא יהיב פתגמי נבואתי בפומך תקיפין כאשתא ועמא הדין חלשין כקשא ויקטלונון:
wyqTlwnwn kqsha khlshyn hdyn wema kashtha thqypyn bpwmk nbwathy pthgmy yhyb ana ha hdyn pthgma yth dathnbythwn khlp tsbawth alhym yy amr kdnn bkn
Therefore Yahweh, the God of Armies says, “Because you speak this word, behold, I will make my words in your mouth fire, and this people wood, and it will devour them.

הא אנא מיתי עליכון עם מרחיק בית ישראל אמר יי עם תקיף הוא עמא דמעלמא הוא עמא לא תידע לישניה ולא תשמע מה דימליל:
dymlyl mh thshme wla lyshnyh thyde la ema hwa dmelma ema hwa thqyp em yy amr yshral byth mrkhyq em elykwn mythy ana ha
Behold, I will bring a nation on you from far away, house of Israel,” says Yahweh. “It is a mighty nation. It is an ancient nation, a nation whose language you don’t know and don’t understand what they say.

בית אזיניה כקברא פתיח כולהון גברין:
gbryn kwlhwn pthykh kqbra azynyh byth
Their quiver is an open tomb. They are all mighty men.
17
ויבוז חצרך ומיכלך יקטלון בנך ובנתך ישבי ענך ותורך יבוז פרי גופנך ותינך יפגר קרוי ארעך כריכתא דאת רחיץ לאשתיזבא בהון מן קדם דקטלין בחרבא:
bkhrba dqTlyn qdm mn bhwn lashthyzba rkhyts dath kryktha arek qrwy ypgr wthynk gwpnk pry ybwz wthwrk enk yshby wbnthk bnk yqTlwn wmyklk khtsrk wybwz
They will eat up your harvest and your bread, which your sons and your daughters should eat. They will eat up your flocks and your herds. They will eat up your vines and your fig trees. They will beat down your fortified cities in which you trust with the sword.
18
ואף ביומיא האינון אמר יי לא אעביד עמכון גמירא:
gmyra emkwn aebyd la yy amr haynwn bywmya wap
“But even in those days,” says Yahweh, “I will not make a full end of you.
19
ויהי ארי תימרון חלף מה עבד יי אלהנא לנא ית כל אלין ותימר להון כמא דשבקתון פולחני ופלחתון לטעות פלחי כוכביא בארעכון כן תשתעבדון לעממיא פלחי כוכביא בארעא דלא דילכון:
dylkwn dla barea kwkbya plkhy lemmya thshthebdwn kn barekwn kwkbya plkhy lTewth wplkhthwn pwlkhny dshbqthwn kma lhwn wthymr alyn kl yth lna alhna yy ebd mh khlp thymrwn ary wyhy
It will happen when you say, ‘Why has Yahweh our God done all these things to us?’ Then you shall say to them, ‘Just as you have forsaken me and served foreign gods in your land, so you will serve strangers in a land that is not yours.’
20
חוו דא בבית יעקב ובשרוה בדבית יהודה למימר:
lmymr yhwdh bdbyth wbshrwh yeqb bbyth da khww
“Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,

שמעו כען דא עמא טפשא ולית ליה לב דעינין להון ולא חזן אודנין להון ולא שמעין:
shmeyn wla lhwn awdnyn khzn wla lhwn deynyn lb lyh wlyth Tpsha ema da ken shmew
‘Hear this now, foolish people without understanding, who have eyes, and don’t see, who have ears, and don’t hear:

המן קדמי לא תדחלון אמר יי אם מן קדם מימרי לא תזועון דשויתי חלא תחומא לימא קים עלם ולא עדי ליה ומטרפין ולא יכלין והמן גלוהי ולא עדן ליה:
lyh edn wla glwhy whmn yklyn wla wmTrpyn lyh edy wla elm qym lyma thkhwma khla dshwythy thzwewn la mymry qdm mn am yy amr thdkhlwn la qdmy hmn
Don’t you fear me?’ says Yahweh; ‘Won’t you tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it can’t pass it? Though its waves toss themselves, yet they can’t prevail. Though they roar, they still can’t pass over it.’

ולעמא הדין הוה לב סטי ומריד על דסטו מבתר פולחני גלו:
glw pwlkhny mbthr dsTw el wmryd sTy lb hwh hdyn wlema
“But this people has a revolting and a rebellious heart. They have revolted and gone.
24
ולא אמרו בלבהון נדחל כען קדם יי אלהנא דמחית מטר בכיר ולקיש בעדניה בזמן קים שבעויא דבזמן חצדא נטר לנא:
lna nTr khtsda dbzmn shbewya qym bzmn bednyh wlqysh bkyr mTr dmkhyth alhna yy qdm ken ndkhl blbhwn amrw wla
They don’t say in their heart, ‘Let’s now fear Yahweh our God, who gives rain, both the former and the latter, in its season, who preserves to us the appointed weeks of the harvest.’
25
חוביכון גרמו אלין לכון וחטאיכון מנעו טובא מנכון:
mnkwn Twba mnew wkhTaykwn lkwn alyn grmw khwbykwn
“Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withheld good from you.
26
ארי אשתכחו בעמי חיבין בנכלין אשדין דם זכאי כלבוש צידין דמחי וקטיל מתעשתין לחבלא נפשין קטלין:
qTlyn npshyn lkhbla mtheshthyn wqTyl dmkhy tsydyn klbwsh zkay dm ashdyn bnklyn khybyn bemy ashthkkhw ary
For wicked men are found among my people. They watch, as fowlers lie in wait. They set a trap. They catch men.
27
כבית פטמא דמלי עופא כן בתיהון מלן נכלין על כן סגיאו ועתירו:
wethyrw sgyaw kn el nklyn mln bthyhwn kn ewpa dmly pTma kbyth
As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit. Therefore they have become great, and grew rich.

עתרו אף קנו נכסין אף עברו על פתגמי אוריתא עבדו דביש דין דקשוט לא דיינין ואלו הוו דיינין דין יתמא הוו מצליחין ודין חשיכיא בקושטא לית אינון דינין:
dynyn aynwn lyth bqwshTa khshykya wdyn mtslykhyn hww ythma dyn dyynyn hww walw dyynyn la dqshwT dyn dbysh ebdw awrytha pthgmy el ebrw ap nksyn qnw ap ethrw
They have grown fat. They shine; yes, they excel in deeds of wickedness. They don’t plead the cause, the cause of the fatherless, that they may prosper; and they don’t defend the rights of the needy.

העל אלין לא אסער לאיתאה עליהון בישא אמר יי אם מן עמא דכדין עובדוהי לא אתפרע מנהון כרעותי:
krewthy mnhwn athpre la ewbdwhy dkdyn ema mn am yy amr bysha elyhwn laythah aser la alyn hel
“Shouldn’t I punish for these things?” says Yahweh. “Shouldn’t my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
30
תימא ושנו הוו בארעא:
barea hww wshnw thyma
“An astonishing and horrible thing has happened in the land.
31
נביי שקרא מתנבן שקר וכהניא מסיעין על ידיהון ועמי רחימו כן ומה תעבדון לסופא:
lswpa thebdwn wmh kn rkhymw wemy ydyhwn el msyeyn wkhnya shqr mthnbn shqra nbyy
The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority; and my people love to have it so. What will you do in the end of it?
