ܐܬܟܪܟܘ ܒܫ̈ܘܩܝܗ̇ ܕܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܚܙܘ ܘܕܥܘ ܘܒܥܘ ܒ̈ܦܠܛܘܬܗ̇ ܐܢ ܬܫܟܚܘܢ ܓܒܪܐ ܐܢ ܐܝܬ ܕܥܒܕ ܕܝܢܐ ܘܒܥܐ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܐܫܒܘܩ ܠܗ̇

“Run back and forth through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in its wide places, if you can find a man, if there is anyone who does justly, who seeks truth, then I will pardon her.

ܘܐܢ ܚܝ ܡܪܝܐ ܢܐܡܪܘܢ ܫܪܝܪܐܝܬ ܒܕܓܠܘܬܐ ܝܡܝܢ
ymyn bdglwth' shryr'yth n'mrwn mry' khy w'n
Though they say, ‘As Yahweh lives,’ surely they swear falsely.”

ܡܪܝܐ ܥܝܢ̈ܝܟ ܥܠ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܡܚܝܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܐܬܟܪܗܘ ܓܡܪܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܨܒܘ ܠܡܩܒܠܘ ܡܪܕܘܬܐ ܩܫܝܘ ܐ̈ܦܝܗܘܢ ܡܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܘܠܐ ܨܒܘ ܠܡܬܒ
lmthb tsbw wl' k'p' mn 'pyhwn qshyw mrdwth' lmqblw tsbw wl' 'nwn gmrth 'thkrhw wl' 'nwn mkhyth hymnwth' el eynyk mry'
O Yahweh, don’t your eyes look on truth? You have stricken them, but they were not grieved. You have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction. They have made their faces harder than a rock. They have refused to return.

ܘܐܢܐ ܐܡܪܬ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܣ̈ܟܝܢܝܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܣܛܘ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܥܘ ܐܘܪܚܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܕܝܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܗܘܢ

Then I said, “Surely these are poor. They are foolish; for they don’t know Yahweh’s way, nor the law of their God.

ܐܙܠ ܠܝ ܠܘܬ ܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܘܐܡܠܠ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܗܢܘܢ ܝܕܥܘ ܐܘܪܚܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܕܝܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܗܘܢ ܫܪܝܪܐܝܬ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܚܕܐ ܬܒܪܘ ܢܝܪܐ ܘܦܣܩܘ ܚ̈ܢܩܐ
khnq' wpsqw nyr' thbrw khd' 'yk klhwn shryr'yth d'lhhwn wdyn' dmry' 'wrkhh ydew dhnwn mTl emhwn w'mll rwrbn' lwth ly 'zl
I will go to the great men and will speak to them, for they know the way of Yahweh, and the law of their God.” But these with one accord have broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܢܬܒܪ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܪܝܐ ܡܢ ܥܒܐ ܘܕܐ̈ܒܝ ܪܡܫܐ ܢܒܙܥܘܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܢܡܪܐ ܢܟܡܢ ܥܠ ܩܘܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܟܠ ܕܢܦܘܩ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܢܬܬܒܪ ܡܛܠ ܕܣܓܝܘ ܚ̈ܘܒܝܗܘܢ ܘܥܫܢܘ ܕܠܐ ܢܬܘܒܘܢ

Therefore a lion out of the forest will kill them. A wolf of the evenings will destroy them. A leopard will watch against their cities. Everyone who goes out there will be torn in pieces, because their transgressions are many and their backsliding has increased.

ܥܠ ܐܝܕܐ ܐܫܒܘܩ ܠܟܝ ܒܢܝ̈ܟܝ ܫܒܩܘܢܝ ܘܐܝܡܘ ܒܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܘ ܐ̈ܠܗܐ ܘܣܒܥܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܓܪܘ ܘܒܝܬ ܙܢܝ̈ܬܐ ܐܬܟܬܫܘ

“How can I pardon you? Your children have forsaken me, and sworn by what are no gods. When I had fed them to the full, they committed adultery, and assembled themselves in troops at the prostitutes’ houses.

ܐܝܟ ܪ̈ܟܫܐ ܐܘܫ̈ܢܐ ܥܗܪ̈ܐ ܗܘܘ ܓܒܪ ܥܠ ܐܢܬܬ ܚܒܪܗ ܨܗܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ

They were as fed horses roaming at large. Everyone neighed after his neighbor’s wife.

ܥܠ ܗܠܝܢ ܠܐ ܐܦܩܘܕ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܒܥܡܐ ܕܗܟܢܐ ܠܐ ܬܬܢܩܡ ܢܦܫܝ
npshy ththnqm l' dhkn' wbem' mry' 'mr 'pqwd l' hlyn el
Shouldn’t I punish them for these things?” says Yahweh. “Shouldn’t my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

ܣܩܘ ܒܫܘܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܘܥܩܘܪܘ ܘܓܡܘܪܝܐ ܠܐ ܬܥܒܕܘܢ ܫܒܘܩܘ ܫܬܐ̈ܣܝܗ̇ ܡܛܠ ܕܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܢܝ̈ܢ
'nyn ddmry' mTl shth'syh shbwqw thebdwn l' wgmwry' weqwrw bshwryh sqw
“Go up on her walls, and destroy, but don’t make a full end. Take away her branches, for they are not Yahweh’s.

ܡܛܠ ܕܡܕܓܠܘ ܕܓܠܘ ܒܝ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܒ̈ܢܝ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' 'mr yhwd' wbny 'ysryl bny by dglw dmdglw mTl
For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me,” says Yahweh.

ܕܓܠܘ ܒܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܗܘ ܠܐ ܬܐܬܐ ܥܠܝܢ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܚܪܒܐ ܘܟܦܢܐ ܠܐ ܢܚܙܐ
nkhz' l' wkpn' wkhrb' byshth' elyn th'th' l' hw hw' l' w'mryn bmry' dglw
They have denied Yahweh, and said, “It is not he. Evil won’t come on us. We won’t see sword or famine.

ܘܢܒ̈ܝܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܠܥܠܥܠܐ ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܠܬܐ ܠܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܢܬܥܒܕ ܠܗܘܢ
lhwn nthebd hkn' lhwn lyth dmlth' w'ylyn lelel' nhwwn wnby'
The prophets will become wind, and the word is not in them. Thus it will be done to them.”

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܚܠܦ ܕܡܠܠܬܘܢ ܡܠܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܗܐ ܝܗܒ ܐܢܐ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܝ ܒܦܘܡܟ ܢܘܪܐ ܘܥܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܩܝ̈ܣܐ ܘܬܐܟܘܠ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn wth'kwl qys' hn' wem' nwr' bpwmk pthgmy 'n' yhb h' hd' mlth' dmllthwn khlp khylthn' 'lh' mry' 'mr hkn' hn' mTl
Therefore Yahweh, the God of Armies says, “Because you speak this word, behold, I will make my words in your mouth fire, and this people wood, and it will devour them.

ܗܐ ܡܝܬܐ ܐܢܐ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܥܡܐ ܡܢ ܪܘܚܩܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܡܐ ܗܘ ܥܫܝܢܐ ܥܡܐ ܗܘ ܕܡܢ ܥܠܡܐ ܥܡܐ ܕܠܐ ܬܕܥ ܠܫܢܗ ܘܠܐ ܬܫܡܥ ܡܕܡ ܕܡܡܠܠ
dmmll mdm thshme wl' lshnh thde dl' em' elm' dmn hw em' eshyn' hw em' mry' 'mr rwkhq' mn em' 'ysryl byth elykwn 'n' myth' h'
Behold, I will bring a nation on you from far away, house of Israel,” says Yahweh. “It is a mighty nation. It is an ancient nation, a nation whose language you don’t know and don’t understand what they say.

ܓܓܪ̈ܬܗ ܐܝܟ ܩܒܪ̈ܐ ܦܬܝܚ̈ܢ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܓܢܒܪ̈ܝܢ

Their quiver is an open tomb. They are all mighty men.

ܢܐܟܘܠ ܚܨܕܟ ܘܠܚܡܟ ܢܐܟܘܠ ܒ̈ܢܝܟ ܘܒܢ̈ܬܟ ܢܐܟܘܠ ܥܢܟ ܘܬܘܪ̈ܝܟ ܢܐܟܘܠ ܓܘܦܢ̈ܝܟ ܘܬܐ̈ܢܝܟ ܢܡܣܟܢ ܩܘܪ̈ܝܐ ܕܬܘܩܦܟ ܕܐܢܬ ܬܟܝܠ ܥܠܝܗܝܢ ܒܚܪܒܐ
bkhrb' elyhyn thkyl d'nth dthwqpk qwry' nmskn wth'nyk gwpnyk n'kwl wthwryk enk n'kwl wbnthk bnyk n'kwl wlkhmk khtsdk n'kwl
They will eat up your harvest and your bread, which your sons and your daughters should eat. They will eat up your flocks and your herds. They will eat up your vines and your fig trees. They will beat down your fortified cities in which you trust with the sword.

ܘܐܦ ܒܝ̈ܘܡܬܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܐ ܐܣܝܦܟܘܢ
'sypkwn l' mry' 'mr hnwn bywmth' w'p
“But even in those days,” says Yahweh, “I will not make a full end of you.

ܘܢܗܘܐ ܟܕ ܬܐܡܪܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܡܢܐ ܥܒܕ ܠܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܬܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܕܫܒܩܬܘܢܢܝ ܘܦܠܚܬܘܢ ܠܐ̈ܠܗܐ ܢܘܟܪ̈ܝܐ ܒܐܪܥܟܘܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܬܦܠܚܘܢ ܠܢܘܟܪ̈ܝܐ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܕܠܐ ܕܝܠܟܘܢ

It will happen when you say, ‘Why has Yahweh our God done all these things to us?’ Then you shall say to them, ‘Just as you have forsaken me and served foreign gods in your land, so you will serve strangers in a land that is not yours.’

ܚܘܘ ܗܕܐ ܒܒܝܬ ܝܥܩܘܒ ܘܐܫܡܥܘܗ̇ ܒܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܐܡܪܘ

“Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,

ܫܡܥܘ ܗܕܐ ܥܡܐ ܣܟܠܐ ܕܠܝܬ ܒܗ ܠܒܐ ܕܥܝ̈ܢܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܚܙܝܢ ܘܐ̈ܕܢܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܫܡܥܝܢ
shmeyn wl' lhwn 'yth w'dn' khzyn wl' lhwn 'yth deyn' lb' bh dlyth skl' em' hd' shmew
‘Hear this now, foolish people without understanding, who have eyes, and don’t see, who have ears, and don’t hear:

ܡܢܝ ܠܐ ܬܕܚܠܘܢ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܡܢ ܩܕܡܝ ܠܐ ܬܙܘܥܘܢ ܕܣܡܬ ܚܠܐ ܬܚܘܡܐ ܠܝܡܐ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܘܠܐ ܥܒܪ ܠܗ ܘܡܬܟܬܫ ܘܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܘܡܬܬܪ̈ܝܡܝܢ ܓܠܠܘ̈ܗܝ ܘܠܐ ܥܒܪܝܢ ܠܗ
lh ebryn wl' gllwhy wmththrymyn mshkkh wl' wmthkthsh lh ebr wl' lelm nmws' lym' thkhwm' khl' dsmth thzwewn l' qdmy wmn mry' 'mr thdkhlwn l' mny
Don’t you fear me?’ says Yahweh; ‘Won’t you tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it can’t pass it? Though its waves toss themselves, yet they can’t prevail. Though they roar, they still can’t pass over it.’

ܘܠܥܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܒܐ ܡܪܘܕܐ ܘܡܡܪܡܪܢܐ ܣܛܘ ܘܐܙܠܘ

“But this people has a revolting and a rebellious heart. They have revolted and gone.

ܘܠܐ ܐܡܪܘ ܒܠܒܗܘܢ ܕܢܕܚܠ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܢ ܕܝܗܒ ܡܛܪܐ ܒܟܝܪܝܐ ܘܠܩܝܫܝܐ ܒܙܒܢܗ ܘܥ̈ܠܠܬܐ ܕܩܝܛܐ ܠܣܬܘܐ ܢܛܪ ܠܢ

They don’t say in their heart, ‘Let’s now fear Yahweh our God, who gives rain, both the former and the latter, in its season, who preserves to us the appointed weeks of the harvest.’

ܚ̈ܘܒܝܟܘܢ ܨܠܘ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܘܚ̈ܛܗܝܟܘܢ ܟܠܘ ܛܒ̈ܬܐ ܡܢܟܘܢ
mnkwn Tbth' klw wkhThykwn hlyn elykwn tslw khwbykwn
“Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withheld good from you.

ܡܛܠ ܕܐܫܬܟܚܘ ܒܥܡܝ ܚ̈ܛܝܐ ܘܐܩܝܡܘ ܦܚ̈ܐ ܐܝܟ ܣܝܓ̈ܐ ܕܢܬܬܚܕܘܢ ܒܗܘܢ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܢܫܐ
'nsh' bny bhwn dnththkhdwn syg' 'yk pkh' w'qymw khTy' bemy d'shthkkhw mTl
For wicked men are found among my people. They watch, as fowlers lie in wait. They set a trap. They catch men.

ܘܐܝܟ ܐܩܠܘܒܝܐ ܕܡܠܐ ܦܪܚܬܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܒܬ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܡܠܝܢ ܢܟܠܐ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܝܪܒܘ ܘܥܬܪܘ
wethrw yrbw hn' mTl nkl' mlyn bthyhwn hkn' prkhth' dml' 'qlwby' w'yk
As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit. Therefore they have become great, and grew rich.

ܘܥܒܪܘ ܥܠ ܕܝܢܐ ܕܝܢܐ ܠܐ ܕܢܘ ܘܕܝܢܐ ܕܝܬܡ̈ܐ ܠܐ ܬܪܨܘ ܘܕܝܢܐ ܕܒܝܫ̈ܐ ܠܐ ܕܢܘ
dnw l' dbysh' wdyn' thrtsw l' dythm' wdyn' dnw l' dyn' dyn' el webrw
They have grown fat. They shine; yes, they excel in deeds of wickedness. They don’t plead the cause, the cause of the fatherless, that they may prosper; and they don’t defend the rights of the needy.

ܥܠ ܗܠܝܢ ܠܐ ܐܦܩܘܕ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܒܥܡܐ ܕܗܟܢܐ ܠܐ ܬܬܢܩܡ ܢܦܫܝ

“Shouldn’t I punish for these things?” says Yahweh. “Shouldn’t my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

ܬܡܗܐ ܘܫܛܝܘܬܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܐܪܥܐ

“An astonishing and horrible thing has happened in the land.

ܢܒ̈ܝܐ ܐܬܢܒܝܘ ܫܘܩܪܐ ܘܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܐܚܕܘ ܐ̈ܝܕܝܗܘܢ ܘܥܡܝ ܪܚܡܘ ܗܟܢܐ ܘܡܢܐ ܬܥܒܕܘܢ ܠܚܪܬܐ

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority; and my people love to have it so. What will you do in the end of it?
