פתגם נבואה דהוה עם ירמיה על כל יהודאי דיתבין בארעא דמצרים דיתבין במגדול ובתחפנחס ובמפס ובארע פתרוס למימר:
lmymr pthrws wbare wbmps wbthkhpnkhs bmgdwl dythbyn dmtsrym barea dythbyn yhwday kl el yrmyh em dhwh nbwah pthgm
The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews who lived in the land of Egypt, who lived at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Memphis, and in the country of Pathros, saying,

כדנן אמר יי צבאות אלהא דישראל אתון חזיתון ית כל בישתא דאיתיתי על ירושלם ועל כל קרויא דבית יהודה ואינון חרבא יומא דין ולית בהון יתיב:
ythyb bhwn wlyth dyn ywma khrba waynwn yhwdh dbyth qrwya kl wel yrwshlm el daythythy byshtha kl yth khzythwn athwn dyshral alha tsbawth yy amr kdnn
“Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘You have seen all the evil that I have brought on Jerusalem, and on all the cities of Judah. Behold, today they are a desolation, and no man dwells in them,

מן קדם בישתהון דעבדו לארגזא קדמי למהך לאסקא בוסמין למפלח לטעות פלחי כוכביא דלא ידעונון אתון ואבהתכון:
wabhthkwn athwn ydewnwn dla kwkbya plkhy lTewth lmplkh bwsmyn lasqa lmhk qdmy largza debdw byshthhwn qdm mn
because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, to serve other gods that they didn’t know, neither they, nor you, nor your fathers.

ושלחית לותכון ית כל עבדי נבייא מקדים ומשלח למימר לא כען תעבדון ית עסק תועבתא הדא דרחיקית:
drkhyqyth hda thwebtha esq yth thebdwn ken la lmymr wmshlkh mqdym nbyya ebdy kl yth lwthkwn wshlkhyth
However I sent to you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, “Oh, don’t do this abominable thing that I hate.”

ולא קבילו ולא ארכינו ית אודניהון למיתב מבשתהון בדיל דלא לאסקא בוסמין לטעות פלחי כוכביא:
kwkbya plkhy lTewth bwsmyn lasqa dla bdyl mbshthhwn lmythb awdnyhwn yth arkynw wla qbylw wla
But they didn’t listen and didn’t incline their ear. They didn’t turn from their wickedness, to stop burning incense to other gods.

וחל רוגזי וחימתי ודליק בקרויא דבית יהודה ובשוקי ירושלם והואה לחורבא לצדו כיומא הדין:
hdyn kywma ltsdw lkhwrba whwah yrwshlm wbshwqy yhwdh dbyth bqrwya wdlyq wkhymthy rwgzy wkhl
Therefore my wrath and my anger was poured out, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as it is today.’

וכען כדנן אמר יי אלהי צבאות אלהא דישראל למה אתון גרמין בישתא רבתא על נפשתכון לשיצאה לכון גבר ואתא ועלים ויניק מגו בית יהודה בדיל דלא למשבק לכון שארא:
shara lkwn lmshbq dla bdyl yhwdh byth mgw wynyq welym watha gbr lkwn lshytsah npshthkwn el rbtha byshtha grmyn athwn lmh dyshral alha tsbawth alhy yy amr kdnn wken
“Therefore now Yahweh, the God of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Why do you commit great evil against your own souls, to cut off from yourselves man and woman, infant and nursing child out of the middle of Judah, to leave yourselves no one remaining,

לארגזא קדמי בעובדי ידיכון לאסקא בוסמין לטעות פלחי כוכביא בארעא דמצרים דאתון אתן לאתותבא תמן בדיל לשיצאה לכון ובדין למהויכון ללוטא ולחסודין בכל עממי ארעא:
area emmy bkl wlkhswdyn llwTa lmhwykwn wbdyn lkwn lshytsah bdyl thmn lathwthba athn dathwn dmtsrym barea kwkbya plkhy lTewth bwsmyn lasqa ydykwn bewbdy qdmy largza
in that you provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt where you have gone to live, that you may be cut off, and that you may be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?

האתנשיתון ית בישות אבהתכון וית בישות מלכיא דבית יהודה וית בישות נשוהי וית בישתכון וית בישות נשיכון דעבדו בארעא דבית יהודה ובשוקי ירושלם:
yrwshlm wbshwqy yhwdh dbyth barea debdw nshykwn byshwth wyth byshthkwn wyth nshwhy byshwth wyth yhwdh dbyth mlkya byshwth wyth abhthkwn byshwth yth hathnshythwn
Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, the wickedness of the kings of Judah, the wickedness of their wives, your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives which they committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

לא פסקו עד יומא הדין ולא דחילו ולא הליכו באוריתי ובקימי דיהבית קדמיכון וקדם אבהתכון:
abhthkwn wqdm qdmykwn dyhbyth wbqymy bawrythy hlykw wla dkhylw wla hdyn ywma ed psqw la
They are not humbled even to this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.’

בכן כדנן אמר יי צבאות אלהא דישראל הא אנא משוי אפי בכון לבישא ולשיצאה ית כל דבית יהודה:
yhwdh dbyth kl yth wlshytsah lbysha bkwn apy mshwy ana ha dyshral alha tsbawth yy amr kdnn bkn
“Therefore Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, even to cut off all Judah.

ואסב ית שארא דבית יהודה דשויאו אפיהון למיעל לארעא דמצרים לאתותבא תמן ויסופון כולהון בארעא דמצרים יתרמון בחרבא ובכפנא יסופון מזעירא ועד רבא בחרבא ובכפנא ימותון ויהון למומי ולצדו וללוטא ולחסודין:
wlkhswdyn wllwTa wltsdw lmwmy wyhwn ymwthwn wbkpna bkhrba rba wed mzeyra yswpwn wbkpna bkhrba ythrmwn dmtsrym barea kwlhwn wyswpwn thmn lathwthba dmtsrym larea lmyel apyhwn dshwyaw yhwdh dbyth shara yth wasb
I will take the remnant of Judah that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to live there, and they will all be consumed. They will fall in the land of Egypt. They will be consumed by the sword and by the famine. They will die, from the least even to the greatest, by the sword and by the famine. They will be an object of horror, an astonishment, a curse, and a reproach.

ואסער על דיתבין בארעא דמצרים כמא דאסערית על ירושלם בחרבא בכפנא ובמותא:
wbmwtha bkpna bkhrba yrwshlm el daseryth kma dmtsrym barea dythbyn el waser
For I will punish those who dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence;

ולא יהי שאר ומשיזיב לשארא דבית יהודה דאתן לאתותבא תמן בארעא דמצרים ולמתב בארעא דבית יהודה דאינון מטען ית נפשהון למיתב למתב תמן ארי לא יתובון אלהין משיזבין:
mshyzbyn alhyn ythwbwn la ary thmn lmthb lmythb npshhwn yth mTen daynwn yhwdh dbyth barea wlmthb dmtsrym barea thmn lathwthba dathn yhwdh dbyth lshara wmshyzyb shar yhy wla
so that none of the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, will escape or be left to return into the land of Judah, to which they have a desire to return to dwell there; for no one will return except those who will escape.’”

ואתיבו ית ירמיה כל גבריא דידעין ארי מסקן בוסמין נשיהון לטעות פלחי כוכביא וכל נשיא דקימין קהלא רבא וכל עמא דיתבין בארעא דמצרים בפתרוס למימר:
lmymr bpthrws dmtsrym barea dythbyn ema wkl rba qhla dqymyn nshya wkl kwkbya plkhy lTewth nshyhwn bwsmyn msqn ary dydeyn gbrya kl yrmyh yth wathybw
Then all the men who knew that their wives burned incense to other gods, and all the women who stood by, a great assembly, even all the people who lived in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,

פתגמא דמלילתא עמנא בשמא דיי לית אנחנא צבן לקבלא מנך:
mnk lqbla tsbn ankhna lyth dyy bshma emna dmlyltha pthgma
“As for the word that you have spoken to us in Yahweh’s name, we will not listen to you.

ארי מעבד נעביד ית כל פתגמא דנפק מפומנא לאסקא בוסמין לכוכבת שמיא ולנסכא לה נסכין כמא דעבדנא אנחנא ואבהתנא מלכנא ורברבנא בקרויא דבית יהודה ובשוקי ירושלם והוינא סבעין לחמא והוינא שלן שליוא ובישתא לא חזינא:
khzyna la wbyshtha shlywa shln whwyna lkhma sbeyn whwyna yrwshlm wbshwqy yhwdh dbyth bqrwya wrbrbna mlkna wabhthna ankhna debdna kma nskyn lh wlnska shmya lkwkbth bwsmyn lasqa mpwmna dnpq pthgma kl yth nebyd mebd ary
But we will certainly perform every word that has gone out of our mouth, to burn incense to the queen of the sky and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then we had plenty of food, and were well, and saw no evil.

ומן עדן דאתמנענא לאסקא בוסמין לכוכבת שמיא ולנסכא לה נסכין חסרנא כולא ובחרבא ובכפנא ספנא:
spna wbkpna wbkhrba kwla khsrna nskyn lh wlnska shmya lkwkbth bwsmyn lasqa dathmnena edn wmn
But since we stopped burning incense to the queen of the sky, and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.”

וארי אנחנא מסקן בוסמין לכוכבת שמיא ומנסכן לה נסכין הבר מגברנא עבדנא לה כרדוטין לטעותא ומנסכן לה נסכין:
nskyn lh wmnskn lTewtha krdwTyn lh ebdna mgbrna hbr nskyn lh wmnskn shmya lkwkbth bwsmyn msqn ankhna wary
The women said, “When we burned incense to the queen of the sky and poured out drink offerings to her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings to her, without our husbands?”

ואמר ירמיה לכל עמא לגבריא ולנשיא ועל כל עמא דמתיבין יתיה פתגמא למימר:
lmymr pthgma ythyh dmthybyn ema kl wel wlnshya lgbrya ema lkl yrmyh wamr
Then Jeremiah said to all the people—to the men and to the women, even to all the people who had given him an answer, saying,

הלא ית בוסמניא דאסיקתון בקרויא דבית יהודה ובשוקי ירושלם אתון ואבהתכון מלכיכון ורברביכון ועמא דארעא יתהון דכר יי וגלי קדמוהי:
qdmwhy wgly yy dkr ythhwn darea wema wrbrbykwn mlkykwn wabhthkwn athwn yrwshlm wbshwqy yhwdh dbyth bqrwya dasyqthwn bwsmnya yth hla
“The incense that you burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers, your kings and your princes, and the people of the land, didn’t Yahweh remember them, and didn’t it come into his mind?
22
ולא הות רעוא קדם יי עוד דלא למשבק מן קדם בישות עובדיכון מן קדם תועבתא דעבדתון והות ארעכון לחורבא ולצדו וללוטא מבלי יתיב כיומא הדין:
hdyn kywma ythyb mbly wllwTa wltsdw lkhwrba arekwn whwth debdthwn thwebtha qdm mn ewbdykwn byshwth qdm mn lmshbq dla ewd yy qdm rewa hwth wla
Thus Yahweh could no longer bear it, because of the evil of your doings and because of the abominations which you have committed. Therefore your land has become a desolation, an astonishment, and a curse, without inhabitant, as it is today.
23
מן קדם דאסיקתון בוסמין ודחבתון קדם יי ולא קבילתון למימרא דיי ובאוריתיה ובקימוהי ובסהדותיה לא הליכתון על כן ערעת יתכון בישתא הדא כיומא הדין:
hdyn kywma hda byshtha ythkwn ereth kn el hlykthwn la wbshdwthyh wbqymwhy wbawrythyh dyy lmymra qbylthwn wla yy qdm wdkhbthwn bwsmyn dasyqthwn qdm mn
Because you have burned incense and because you have sinned against Yahweh, and have not obeyed Yahweh’s voice, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil has happened to you, as it is today.”

ואמר ירמיה לכל עמא ולכל נשיא קבילו פתגמא דיי כל דבית יהודה די בארעא דמצרים:
dmtsrym barea dy yhwdh dbyth kl dyy pthgma qbylw nshya wlkl ema lkl yrmyh wamr
Moreover Jeremiah said to all the people, including all the women, “Hear Yahweh’s word, all Judah who are in the land of Egypt!

כדנן אמר יי צבאות אלהא דישראל למימר אתון ונשיכון וגזרתון בפומכון וברעותכון קימתון למימר מעבד נעביד ית נדרנא די נדרנא לאסקא בוסמין לכוכבת שמיא ולנסכא לה נסכין אקמא תקימון ית נדריכון ומעבד תעבדון ית נסכיכון:
nskykwn yth thebdwn wmebd ndrykwn yth thqymwn aqma nskyn lh wlnska shmya lkwkbth bwsmyn lasqa ndrna dy ndrna yth nebyd mebd lmymr qymthwn wbrewthkwn bpwmkwn wgzrthwn wnshykwn athwn lmymr dyshral alha tsbawth yy amr kdnn
Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says, ‘You and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and with your hands have fulfilled it, saying, “We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of the sky, and to pour out drink offerings to her.” “‘Establish then your vows, and perform your vows.’

בכן קבילו פתגמא דיי כל דבית יהודה דיתבין בארעא דמצרים הא אנא קימית בשמי רבא אמר יי אם יהי עוד שמי מתקרי בפום כל אנש יהודה אמר קים הוא יי אלהים בכל ארעא דמצרים:
dmtsrym area bkl alhym yy hwa qym amr yhwdh ansh kl bpwm mthqry shmy ewd yhy am yy amr rba bshmy qymyth ana ha dmtsrym barea dythbyn yhwdh dbyth kl dyy pthgma qbylw bkn
“Therefore hear Yahweh’s word, all Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt: ‘Behold, I have sworn by my great name,’ says Yahweh, ‘that my name will no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, “As the Lord Yahweh lives.”
27
הא אנא מסער עליהון לבישא ולא לטבא ויסופון כל אנש יהודה די בארעא דמצרים בחרבא ובכפנא עד דישתיצון:
dyshthytswn ed wbkpna bkhrba dmtsrym barea dy yhwdh ansh kl wyswpwn lTba wla lbysha elyhwn mser ana ha
Behold, I watch over them for evil, and not for good; and all the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt will be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until they are all gone.
28
ומשיזבי חרבא יתובון מן ארעא דמצרים לארעא דבית יהודה עם דמנין וידעון כל שארא דבית יהודה דאתן לארעא דמצרים לאתותבא תמן פתגם דמן יתקים אם דילי ואם דילהון:
dylhwn wam dyly am ythqym dmn pthgm thmn lathwthba dmtsrym larea dathn yhwdh dbyth shara kl wydewn dmnyn em yhwdh dbyth larea dmtsrym area mn ythwbwn khrba wmshyzby
Those who escape the sword will return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah few in number. All the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, will know whose word will stand, mine or theirs.

ודא לכון אתא אמר יי ארי אנא מסער עליכון באתרא הדין בדין דתידעון ארי אתקימא יתקימון פתגמי עליכון לבישא:
lbysha elykwn pthgmy ythqymwn athqyma ary dthydewn bdyn hdyn bathra elykwn mser ana ary yy amr atha lkwn wda
“‘This will be the sign to you,’ says Yahweh, ‘that I will punish you in this place, that you may know that my words will surely stand against you for evil.’

כדנן אמר יי הא אנא מסר ית פרעה תבירא מלכא דמצרים ביד בעלי דבבוהי וביד דבען למקטליה כמא דמסרית ית צדקיהו מלכא דשבטא דבית יהודה ביד נבוכדראצר מלכא דבבל בעיל דבביה ודבעא למקטליה:
lmqTlyh wdbea dbbyh beyl dbbl mlka nbwkdratsr byd yhwdh dbyth dshbTa mlka tsdqyhw yth dmsryth kma lmqTlyh dben wbyd dbbwhy bely byd dmtsrym mlka thbyra preh yth msr ana ha yy amr kdnn
Yahweh says, ‘Behold, I will give Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies and into the hand of those who seek his life, just as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who was his enemy and sought his life.’”
