וקריבו כל רבני חילותא ויוחנן בר קרח ויזניה בר הושעיא וכל עמא מזעירא ועד רבא:
rba wed mzeyra ema wkl hwsheya br wyznyh qrkh br wywkhnn khylwtha rbny kl wqrybw
Then all the captains of the forces, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least even to the greatest, came near,

ואמרו לירמיה נבייא תתקביל כען בעותנא קדמך וצלי עלנא קדם יי אלהך על כל שארא הדין ארי אשתארנא זעיר מסגי כמא דעינך חזין יתנא:
ythna khzyn deynk kma msgy zeyr ashtharna ary hdyn shara kl el alhk yy qdm elna wtsly qdmk bewthna ken ththqbyl nbyya lyrmyh wamrw
and said to Jeremiah the prophet, “Please let our supplication be presented before you, and pray for us to Yahweh your God, even for all this remnant, for we are left but a few of many, as your eyes see us,

ויחוי לנא יי אלהך ית אורחא דנהך בה וית פתגמא דנעביד:
dnebyd pthgma wyth bh dnhk awrkha yth alhk yy lna wykhwy
that Yahweh your God may show us the way in which we should walk, and the things that we should do.”

ואמר להון ירמיה נביא שמעית הא אנא מצלי קדם יי אלהכון כפתגמכון ויהי כל פתגם דיתב יי יתכון אחוי לכון לא אמנע מנכון פתגם:
pthgm mnkwn amne la lkwn akhwy ythkwn yy dythb pthgm kl wyhy kpthgmkwn alhkwn yy qdm mtsly ana ha shmeyth nbya yrmyh lhwn wamr
Then Jeremiah the prophet said to them, “I have heard you. Behold, I will pray to Yahweh your God according to your words; and it will happen that whatever thing Yahweh answers you, I will declare it to you. I will keep nothing back from you.”

ואינון אמרו לירמיה יהי מימרא דיי בנא לסהיד קשוט ומהימן אם לא ככל פתגמיא די שלחינך יי אלהך לותנא כן נעביד:
nebyd kn lwthna alhk yy shlkhynk dy pthgmya kkl la am wmhymn qshwT lshyd bna dyy mymra yhy lyrmyh amrw waynwn
Then they said to Jeremiah, “May Yahweh be a true and faithful witness among us, if we don’t do according to all the word with which Yahweh your God sends you to tell us.

אם טב ואם ביש למימרא דיי אלהנא די אנחנא שלחין יתך לקדמוהי נקבל בדיל דייטב לנא ארי נקביל למימרא דיי אלהנא:
alhna dyy lmymra nqbyl ary lna dyyTb bdyl nqbl lqdmwhy ythk shlkhyn ankhna dy alhna dyy lmymra bysh wam Tb am
Whether it is good, or whether it is bad, we will obey the voice of Yahweh our God, to whom we send you; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of Yahweh our God.”

והוה מסוף עסרא יומין והוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עם ירמיה:
yrmyh em yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm whwh ywmyn esra mswp whwh
After ten days, Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah.
8
וקרא ליוחנן בר קרח ולכל רבני חילותא דעמיה ולכל עמא למזעירא ועד רבא:
rba wed lmzeyra ema wlkl demyh khylwtha rbny wlkl qrkh br lywkhnn wqra
Then he called Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, and all the people from the least even to the greatest,

ואמר להון כדנן אמר יי אלהנא דישראל דשלחתון יתי לקדמוהי למבעי בעותכון קדמוהי:
qdmwhy bewthkwn lmbey lqdmwhy ythy dshlkhthwn dyshral alhna yy amr kdnn lhwn wamr
and said to them, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your supplication before him, says:

אם מתב תיתבון בארעא הדא ואבני יתכון ולא אפגר ואקים יתכון ולא אטלטל ארי תבית מן בישתא דעבדית לכון:
lkwn debdyth byshtha mn thbyth ary aTlTl wla ythkwn waqym apgr wla ythkwn wabny hda barea thythbwn mthb am
‘If you will still live in this land, then I will build you, and not pull you down, and I will plant you, and not pluck you up; for I grieve over the distress that I have brought on you.

לא תדחלון מן קדם מלכא דבבל די אתון דחלין מן קדמוהי לא תדחלון מניה אמר יי ארי בסעדכון מימרי למפרק יתכון ולשיזבא יתכון מן ידיה:
ydyh mn ythkwn wlshyzba ythkwn lmprq mymry bsedkwn ary yy amr mnyh thdkhlwn la qdmwhy mn dkhlyn athwn dy dbbl mlka qdm mn thdkhlwn la
Don’t be afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom you are afraid. Don’t be afraid of him,’ says Yahweh, ‘for I am with you to save you, and to deliver you from his hand.

ואתן לכון רחמין וירחם עליכון ויתיב יתכון לארעכון:
larekwn ythkwn wythyb elykwn wyrkhm rkhmyn lkwn wathn
I will grant you mercy, that he may have mercy on you, and cause you to return to your own land.
13
ואם אמרין אתון לא נתיב בארעא הדא בדיל דלא לקבלא למימרא דיי אלהכון:
alhkwn dyy lmymra lqbla dla bdyl hda barea nthyb la athwn amryn wam
“‘But if you say, “We will not dwell in this land,” so that you don’t obey Yahweh your God’s voice,

למימר לא אלהין לארעא דמצרים ניעול דלא נחזי עבדי קרבא וקל שופרא לא נשמע וללחמא לא ניכפן ותמן נתיב:
nthyb wthmn nykpn la wllkhma nshme la shwpra wql qrba ebdy nkhzy dla nyewl dmtsrym larea alhyn la lmymr
saying, “No, but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we will see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger of bread; and there we will dwell;”’

וכען בכן קבילו פתגמא דיי שארא דבית יהודה כדנן אמר יי צבאות אלהא דישראל אם אתון שואה תשוון אפיכון למיעל למצרים ותעלון לאתותבא תמן:
thmn lathwthba wthelwn lmtsrym lmyel apykwn thshwwn shwah athwn am dyshral alha tsbawth yy amr kdnn yhwdh dbyth shara dyy pthgma qbylw bkn wken
now therefore hear Yahweh’s word, O remnant of Judah! Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says, ‘If you indeed set your faces to enter into Egypt, and go to live there,

ותהי חרבא די אתון דחלין מניה תמן תדביק יתכון בארעא דמצרים וכפנא די אתון יצפין מניה תמן ידביק בתריכון למצרים ותמן תמותון:
thmwthwn wthmn lmtsrym bthrykwn ydbyq thmn mnyh ytspyn athwn dy wkpna dmtsrym barea ythkwn thdbyq thmn mnyh dkhlyn athwn dy khrba wthhy
then it will happen that the sword, which you fear, will overtake you there in the land of Egypt; and the famine, about which you are afraid, will follow close behind you there in Egypt; and you will die there.

והוו כל גבריא דשויאו ית אפיהון למיעל למצרים לאתותבא תמן יתקטלון בחרבא בכפנא ובמותא ולא יהי להון שאר ומשיזיב מן קדם בישתא די אנא מייתי עליהון:
elyhwn myythy ana dy byshtha qdm mn wmshyzyb shar lhwn yhy wla wbmwtha bkpna bkhrba ythqTlwn thmn lathwthba lmtsrym lmyel apyhwn yth dshwyaw gbrya kl whww
So will it be with all the men who set their faces to go into Egypt to live there. They will die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence. None of them will remain or escape from the evil that I will bring on them.’

ארי כדנן אמר יי צבאות אלהא דישראל כמא דחל רוגזי וחימתי על יתבי ירושלם כן יחול רוגזי עליכון במיעלכון למצרים ותהון למומי ולצדו וללוטא ולחסודין ולא תחזון עוד ית אתרא הדין:
hdyn athra yth ewd thkhzwn wla wlkhswdyn wllwTa wltsdw lmwmy wthhwn lmtsrym bmyelkwn elykwn rwgzy ykhwl kn yrwshlm ythby el wkhymthy rwgzy dkhl kma dyshral alha tsbawth yy amr kdnn ary
For Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘As my anger and my wrath has been poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so my wrath will be poured out on you, when you enter into Egypt; and you will be an object of horror, an astonishment, a curse, and a reproach; and you will see this place no more.’

גזירת פתגמא דיי עליכון שארא דבית יהודה לא תעלון למצרים מידע תידעון ארי אסהידית בכון יומא דין:
dyn ywma bkwn ashydyth ary thydewn myde lmtsrym thelwn la yhwdh dbyth shara elykwn dyy pthgma gzyrth
“Yahweh has spoken concerning you, remnant of Judah, ‘Don’t go into Egypt!’ Know certainly that I have testified to you today.

ארי אטעיתון בנפשתיכון ארי אתון שלחתון יתי לקדם יי אלהכון למימר צלי עלנא קדם יי אלהנא וככל דיימר יי אלהנא כן חוי לנא ועביד:
webyd lna khwy kn alhna yy dyymr wkkl alhna yy qdm elna tsly lmymr alhkwn yy lqdm ythy shlkhthwn athwn ary bnpshthykwn aTeythwn ary
For you have dealt deceitfully against your own souls; for you sent me to Yahweh your God, saying, ‘Pray for us to Yahweh our God; and according to all that Yahweh our God says, so declare to us, and we will do it.’
21
וחויתי לכון יומא דין ולא קבילתון למימרא דיי אלהכון ולכל די שלחני לותכון:
lwthkwn shlkhny dy wlkl alhkwn dyy lmymra qbylthwn wla dyn ywma lkwn wkhwythy
I have declared it to you today; but you have not obeyed Yahweh your God’s voice in anything for which he has sent me to you.

וכען מידע תדעון ארי בחרבא בכפנא ובמותא תמותון באתרא דאתרעיתון למיעל לאתותבא תמן:
thmn lathwthba lmyel dathreythwn bathra thmwthwn wbmwtha bkpna bkhrba ary thdewn myde wken
Now therefore know certainly that you will die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence in the place where you desire to go to live.”
