ܘܒܝܪܚܐ ܕܫܒܥܐ ܐܬܐ ܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܒܪ ܢܬܢܝܐ ܒܪ ܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܡܢ ܙܪܥܐ ܕܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܘܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܝ ܡܠܟܐ ܘܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܥܡܗ ܠܘܬ ܓܕܠܝܐ ܒܪ ܐܚܝܩܡ ܠܡܨܦܝܐ ܘܐܟܠܘ ܬܡܢ ܠܚܡܐ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܒܡܨܦܝܐ

Now in the seventh month, Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the royal offspring and one of the chief officers of the king, and ten men with him, came to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they ate bread together in Mizpah.

ܘܩܡ ܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܒܪ ܢܬܢܝܐ ܗܘ ܘܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܕܐܬܘ ܥܡܗ ܘܡܚܐܘܗܝ ܠܓܕܠܝܐ ܒܪ ܐܚܝܩܡ ܒܪ ܫܦܢ ܒܚܪܒܐ ܘܩܛܠܘܗܝ ܗ̇ܘ ܕܐܫܠܛܗ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܒܒܠ ܒܐܪܥܐ

Then Ishmael the son of Nethaniah arose, and the ten men who were with him, and struck Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword and killed him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.

ܘܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܝܗ̈ܘܕܝܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܗܘܘ ܥܡܗ ܥܡ ܓܕܠܝܐ ܒܡܨܦܝܐ ܘܠܟ̈ܠܕܝܐ ܕܐܫܬܟܚܘ ܬܡܢ ܘܐܦ ܠܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܩܪ̈ܒܬܢܐ ܩܛܠ ܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ
'yshmeyl qTl qrbthn' lgbr' w'p thmn d'shthkkhw wlkldy' bmtspy' gdly' em emh hww d'yth yhwdy' wlklhwn
Ishmael also killed all the Jews who were with Gedaliah at Mizpah, and the Chaldean men of war who were found there.

ܘܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܫܡܥ ܘܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܕܐܬܩܛܠ ܓܕܠܝܐ

The second day after he had killed Gedaliah, and no man knew it,

ܐܬܘ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܡܢ ܫܟܝܡ ܘܡܢ ܫܝܠܘ ܘܡܢ ܫܡܪܝܢ ܬܡܢܐܝܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܓܪ̈ܝܥܝܢ ܕܩܢ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܘܡܨܪܝܢ ܠܒܘܫ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܘܡܬܟܬܫܝܢ ܘܩܘܪ̈ܒܢܐ ܘܠܒܘܢܬܐ ܒܐ̈ܝܕܝܗܘܢ ܠܡܥܠܘ ܠܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ

men came from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even eighty men, having their beards shaved and their clothes torn, and having cut themselves, with meal offerings and frankincense in their hand, to bring them to Yahweh’s house.

ܘܢܦܩ ܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܒܪ ܢܬܢܝܐ ܠܐܘܪܥܗܘܢ ܡܢ ܡܨܦܝܐ ܡܗܠܟ ܘܐܙܠ ܘܒܟܐ ܘܟܕ ܦܓܥ ܒܗܘܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܬܘ ܠܘܬ ܓܕܠܝܐ ܒܪ ܐܚܝܩܡ
'khyqm br gdly' lwth thw lhwn 'mr bhwn pge wkd wbk' w'zl mhlk mtspy' mn l'wrehwn nthny' br 'yshmeyl wnpq
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went out from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went, and as he met them, he said to them, “Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam.”

ܘܟܕ ܥܠܘ ܠܓܘ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܢܟܣ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܒܪ ܢܬܢܝܐ ܘܐܪܡܝ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܓܘܒܐ ܗܘ ܘܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܕܥܡܗ

It was so, when they came into the middle of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah killed them, and cast them into the middle of the pit, he, and the men who were with him.

ܘܥܣܪܐ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܐܫܬܟܚܘ ܒܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܠܐ ܬܩܛܠܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܢ ܚ̈ܕܘܬܐ ܒܚܩܠܐ ܕܚ̈ܛܐ ܘܕܣܥܪ̈ܐ ܘܡܫܚܐ ܘܕܒܫܐ ܘܫܒܩ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܩܛܠ ܐܢܘܢ ܥܡ ܐܚܝܗܘܢ
'khyhwn em 'nwn qTl wl' 'nwn wshbq wdbsh' wmshkh' wdser' dkhT' bkhql' khdwth' ln d'yth mTl thqTln l' l'yshmeyl w'mryn bhwn 'shthkkhw gbryn wesr'
But ten men were found among those who said to Ishmael, “Don’t kill us; for we have stores hidden in the field, of wheat, and of barley, and of oil, and of honey.” So he stopped, and didn’t kill them among their brothers.

ܘܓܘܒܐ ܕܫܕܐ ܒܗ ܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܫ̈ܠܕܐ ܕܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܕܩܛܠ ܥܡ ܓܕܠܝܐ ܗ̇ܘ ܗܘ ܕܥܒܕ ܐܣܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܒܥܫܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܗ ܠܓܘܒܐ ܗ̇ܘ ܡܠܝܗܝ ܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܒܪ ܢܬܢܝܐ ܩ̈ܛܝܠܐ

Now the pit in which Ishmael cast all the dead bodies of the men whom he had killed, by the side of Gedaliah (this was that which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel), Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with those who were killed.

ܘܫܒܐ ܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܟܠܗ ܫܪܟܐ ܕܥܡܐ ܕܒܡܨܦܝܐ ܕܐܫܠܡ ܢܒܘܙܪܕܢ ܪܒ ܕܚܫ̈ܐ ܠܓܕܠܝܐ ܒܪ ܐܚܝܩܡ ܘܫܒܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܒܪ ܢܬܢܝܐ ܘܐܙܠ ܠܥܒܪܐ ܕܒܢ̈ܝ ܥܡܘܢ

Then Ishmael carried away captive all of the people who were left in Mizpah, even the king’s daughters, and all the people who remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam. Ishmael the son of Nethaniah carried them away captive, and departed to go over to the children of Ammon.

ܘܫܡܥ ܝܘܚܢܢ ܒܪ ܩܘܪܚ ܘܟܘܠܗܘܢ ܪ̈ܒܝ ܚܝ̈ܠܐ ܕܥܡܗ ܥܠ ܟܠܗ̇ ܫܒܝܬܐ ܕܕܒܪ ܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܒܪ ܢܬܢܝܐ

But when Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, heard of all the evil that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had done,

ܘܕܒܪ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܓܒܪܐ ܘܐܙܠ ܠܡܬܟܬܫܘ ܥܡ ܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܒܪ ܢܬܢܝܐ ܘܐܫܟܚܘܗܝ ܥܠ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܣ̈ܓܝܐܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܒܓܒܥܘܢ
bgbewn d'yth sgy'' my' el w'shkkhwhy nthny' br 'yshmeyl em lmthkthshw w'zl gbr' klhwn wdbr
then they took all the men, and went to fight with Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and found him by the great waters that are in Gibeon.

ܘܟܕ ܚܙܐ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܕܥܡ ܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܠܝܘܚܢܢ ܒܪ ܩܘܪܚ ܘܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܪ̈ܒܝ ܚ̈ܝܠܐ ܕܥܡܗ ܚܕܝܘ
khdyw demh khyl' rby wlklhwn qwrkh br lywkhnn 'yshmeyl dem em' klh khz' wkd
Now when all the people who were with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, then they were glad.

ܘܗܦܟܘ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܕܫܒܐ ܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܡܢ ܡܨܦܝܐ ܘܐܬܘ ܠܘܬ ܝܘܚܢܢ ܒܪ ܩܘܪܚ
qwrkh br ywkhnn lwth w'thw mtspy' mn 'yshmeyl dshb' em' klh whpkw
So all the people who Ishmael had carried away captive from Mizpah turned about and came back, and went to Johanan the son of Kareah.

ܘܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܒܪ ܢܬܢܝܐ ܐܫܬܘܙܒ ܒܬܡܢܝܐ ܐ̈ܢܫܝܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܝܘܚܢܢ ܘܐܙܠ ܠܘܬ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܥܡܘܢ

But Ishmael the son of Nethaniah escaped from Johanan with eight men, and went to the children of Ammon.

ܘܕܒܪ ܝܘܚܢܢ ܒܪ ܩܘܪܚ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܪ̈ܒܝ ܚ̈ܝܠܐ ܕܥܡܗ ܟܠ ܫܪܟܐ ܕܥܡܐ ܕܐܗܦܟ ܡܢ ܠܘܬ ܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܒܪ ܢܬܢܝܐ ܡܢ ܡܨܦܝܐ ܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܕܩܛܠ ܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܠܓܕܠܝܐ ܒܪ ܐܚܝܩܡ ܘܕܒܪ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܩܪ̈ܒܬܢܐ ܘܢܫ̈ܐ ܘ̈ܛܠܝܐ ܘܡܗܝ̈ܡܢܐ ܕܐܗܦܟ ܡܢ ܓܒܥܘܢ
gbewn mn d'hpk wmhymn' wTly' wnsh' qrbthn' gbr' wdbr 'khyqm br lgdly' 'yshmeyl dqTl bthr mn mtspy' mn nthny' br 'yshmeyl lwth mn d'hpk dem' shrk' kl demh khyl' rby wklhwn qwrkh br ywkhnn wdbr
Then Johanan the son of Kareah and all the captains of the forces who were with him took all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah, after he had killed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam—the men of war, with the women, the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought back from Gibeon.

ܘܐܙܠ ܘܝܬܒ ܒܐܕܪ̈ܐ ܕܒܡܗܡ ܕܥܠ ܓܢܒ ܒܝܬ ܠܚܡ ܠܡܐܙܠ ܠܡܥܠ ܠܡܨܪܝܢ

They departed and lived in Geruth Chimham, which is by Bethlehem, to go to enter into Egypt

ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܟ̈ܠܕܝܐ ܕܕܚܠܘ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܥܠ ܕܩܛܠ ܐܝܫܡܥܝܠ ܒܪ ܢܬܢܝܐ ܠܓܕܠܝܐ ܒܪ ܐܚܝܩܡ ܗ̇ܘ ܕܐܫܠܛܗ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܒܒܠ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ
dyhwd' b're' dbbl mlk' d'shlTh hw 'khyqm br lgdly' nthny' br 'yshmeyl dqTl el mnhwn ddkhlw kldy' qdm mn
because of the Chaldeans; for they were afraid of them, because Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had killed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon made governor over the land.
