והוה בירחא שביעאה אתא ישמעאל בר נתניה בר אלישמע מזרעא דמלכותא ורברבי מלכא ועסרא גברין עמיה לות גדליה בר אחיקם למצפיא ואכלו תמן לחמא כחדא במצפיא:
bmtspya kkhda lkhma thmn waklw lmtspya akhyqm br gdlyh lwth emyh gbryn wesra mlka wrbrby dmlkwtha mzrea alyshme br nthnyh br yshmeal atha shbyeah byrkha whwh
Now in the seventh month, Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the royal offspring and one of the chief officers of the king, and ten men with him, came to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they ate bread together in Mizpah.

וקם ישמעאל בר נתניה ועסרא גברין דהוו עמיה ומחו ית גדליה בר אחיקם בר שפן בחרבא וקטל יתיה דמני מלכא דבבל בארעא:
barea dbbl mlka dmny ythyh wqTl bkhrba shpn br akhyqm br gdlyh yth wmkhw emyh dhww gbryn wesra nthnyh br yshmeal wqm
Then Ishmael the son of Nethaniah arose, and the ten men who were with him, and struck Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword and killed him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.

וית כל יהודאי דהוו עמיה עם גדליה במצפיא וית כסדאי דאשתכחו תמן ית גברי עבדי קרבא קטל ישמעאל:
yshmeal qTl qrba ebdy gbry yth thmn dashthkkhw ksday wyth bmtspya gdlyh em emyh dhww yhwday kl wyth
Ishmael also killed all the Jews who were with Gedaliah at Mizpah, and the Chaldean men of war who were found there.

והוה ביומא תנינא למקטל ית גדליה ואנש לא ידע:
yde la wansh gdlyh yth lmqTl thnyna bywma whwh
The second day after he had killed Gedaliah, and no man knew it,

ואתו גבריא משכם ומשילו ומשמרון תמנן גברין כד מגלחין דקניהון ומבזעין לבושיהון ומתחממין וקורבנא ולבונתא בידיהון לאיתאה לבית מקדשא דיי:
dyy mqdsha lbyth laythah bydyhwn wlbwntha wqwrbna wmthkhmmyn lbwshyhwn wmbzeyn dqnyhwn mglkhyn kd gbryn thmnn wmshmrwn wmshylw mshkm gbrya wathw
men came from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even eighty men, having their beards shaved and their clothes torn, and having cut themselves, with meal offerings and frankincense in their hand, to bring them to Yahweh’s house.

ונפק ישמעאל בר נתניה לקדמותהון מן מצפיא אזיל מיזל ובכי והוה כד ערע יתהון ואמר להון עולו לות גדליהו בר אחיקם:
akhyqm br gdlyhw lwth ewlw lhwn wamr ythhwn ere kd whwh wbky myzl azyl mtspya mn lqdmwthhwn nthnyh br yshmeal wnpq
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went out from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went, and as he met them, he said to them, “Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam.”

והוה כמיעלהון לגו קרתא ונכיסינון ישמעאל בר נתניה לגו גובא הוא וגבריא די עמיה:
emyh dy wgbrya hwa gwba lgw nthnyh br yshmeal wnkysynwn qrtha lgw kmyelhwn whwh
It was so, when they came into the middle of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah killed them, and cast them into the middle of the pit, he, and the men who were with him.

ועסרא גברין אשתכחו בהון ואמרו לישמעאל לא תקטליננא ארי אית לנא מטמורין בחקלא חטין וסערין ומשח ודבש ואתמנע ולא קטלינון בגו אחוהון:
akhwhwn bgw qTlynwn wla wathmne wdbsh wmshkh wseryn khTyn bkhqla mTmwryn lna ayth ary thqTlynna la lyshmeal wamrw bhwn ashthkkhw gbryn wesra
But ten men were found among those who said to Ishmael, “Don’t kill us; for we have stores hidden in the field, of wheat, and of barley, and of oil, and of honey.” So he stopped, and didn’t kill them among their brothers.

וגובא די רמא תמן ישמעאל ית כל פגרי גבריא די קטל ביד גדליהו הוא דעבד מלכא אסא כד צר עלוהי בעשא מלכא דישראל יתיה מלי ישמעאל בר נתניה קטילין:
qTylyn nthnyh br yshmeal mly ythyh dyshral mlka besha elwhy tsr kd asa mlka debd hwa gdlyhw byd qTl dy gbrya pgry kl yth yshmeal thmn rma dy wgwba
Now the pit in which Ishmael cast all the dead bodies of the men whom he had killed, by the side of Gedaliah (this was that which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel), Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with those who were killed.

ושבא ישמעאל ית כל שארא דעמא די במצפיא ית בנת מלכא וית כל עמא דאשתארו במצפיא דמני נבוזראדן רב קטוליא על גדליהו בר אחיקם ושבנון ישמעאל בר נתניהו ואזל למעבר לות בני עמון:
emwn bny lwth lmebr wazl nthnyhw br yshmeal wshbnwn akhyqm br gdlyhw el qTwlya rb nbwzradn dmny bmtspya dashtharw ema kl wyth mlka bnth yth bmtspya dy dema shara kl yth yshmeal wshba
Then Ishmael carried away captive all of the people who were left in Mizpah, even the king’s daughters, and all the people who remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam. Ishmael the son of Nethaniah carried them away captive, and departed to go over to the children of Ammon.

ושמע יוחנן בר קרח וכל רבני חילותא די עמיה ית כל בישתא דעבד ישמעאל בר נתניה:
nthnyh br yshmeal debd byshtha kl yth emyh dy khylwtha rbny wkl qrkh br ywkhnn wshme
But when Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, heard of all the evil that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had done,

ודברו ית כל גבריא ואזלו לאגחא על ישמעאל בר נתניה ואשכחו יתיה על בריכת מיין סגיאין די בגבעון:
bgbewn dy sgyayn myyn brykth el ythyh washkkhw nthnyh br yshmeal el lagkha wazlw gbrya kl yth wdbrw
then they took all the men, and went to fight with Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and found him by the great waters that are in Gibeon.

והוה כד חזא כל עמא דעם ישמעאל ית יוחנן בר קרח וית כל רבני חילותא די עמיה וחדיאו:
wkhdyaw emyh dy khylwtha rbny kl wyth qrkh br ywkhnn yth yshmeal dem ema kl khza kd whwh
Now when all the people who were with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, then they were glad.

ואסתחרו כל עמא דשבא ישמעאל מן מצפיא ותבו ואזלו לות יוחנן בר קרח:
qrkh br ywkhnn lwth wazlw wthbw mtspya mn yshmeal dshba ema kl wasthkhrw
So all the people who Ishmael had carried away captive from Mizpah turned about and came back, and went to Johanan the son of Kareah.

וישמעאל בר נתניה אשתיזיב בתמניא גברא מן קדם יוחנן בר קרח ואזל לות בני עמון:
emwn bny lwth wazl qrkh br ywkhnn qdm mn gbra bthmnya ashthyzyb nthnyh br wyshmeal
But Ishmael the son of Nethaniah escaped from Johanan with eight men, and went to the children of Ammon.

ודבר יוחנן בר קרח וכל רבני חילותא די עמיה ית כל שארא דעמא דאתיב מלות ישמעאל בר נתניה מן מצפיא בתר די קטל ית גדליה בר אחיקם גברין גברי עבדי קרבא ונשיא וטפלא ורברביא די אתיב מגבעון:
mgbewn athyb dy wrbrbya wTpla wnshya qrba ebdy gbry gbryn akhyqm br gdlyh yth qTl dy bthr mtspya mn nthnyh br yshmeal mlwth dathyb dema shara kl yth emyh dy khylwtha rbny wkl qrkh br ywkhnn wdbr
Then Johanan the son of Kareah and all the captains of the forces who were with him took all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah, after he had killed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam—the men of war, with the women, the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought back from Gibeon.

ואזלו ויתיבו בנרות דיהב דוד לכמהם בר ברזילי גלעדאה די בסטר בית לחם למיזל למיעל למצרים:
lmtsrym lmyel lmyzl lkhm byth bsTr dy gledah brzyly br lkmhm dwd dyhb bnrwth wythybw wazlw
They departed and lived in Geruth Chimham, which is by Bethlehem, to go to enter into Egypt

מן קדם כסדאי ארי דחילו מן קדמיהון ארי קטל ישמעאל בר נתניה ית גדליה בר אחיקם דמני מלכא דבבל בארעא:
barea dbbl mlka dmny akhyqm br gdlyh yth nthnyh br yshmeal qTl ary qdmyhwn mn dkhylw ary ksday qdm mn
because of the Chaldeans; for they were afraid of them, because Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had killed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon made governor over the land.
