פתגם נבואה דהוה עם ירמיה מן קדם יי בתר דשלח יתיה נבוזראדן רב קטוליא מן רמתא כד דבר יתיה והוא אסיר בעזקיא בגו כל גלות ירושלם ויהודה דאתגליאו לבבל:

The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, after Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah who were carried away captive to Babylon.

ודבר רב קטוליא לירמיהו ואמר ליה יי אלהך גזר ית בישתא הדא על אתרא הדין:
hdyn athra el hda byshtha yth gzr alhk yy lyh wamr lyrmyhw qTwlya rb wdbr
The captain of the guard took Jeremiah and said to him, “Yahweh your God pronounced this evil on this place;

ואיתי וקים יי כמא דמליל ארי חבתון קדם יי ולא קבילתון למימריה והוה לכון פתגמא הדין:
hdyn pthgma lkwn whwh lmymryh qbylthwn wla yy qdm khbthwn ary dmlyl kma yy wqym waythy
and Yahweh has brought it, and done according as he spoke. Because you have sinned against Yahweh, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing has come on you.

וכען הא שריתך יומא דין מן עזקיא די על ידך אם תקין בעיניך למיתא עמי לבבל אתא ואשוי ית עיני עלך ואם ביש בעינך למיתי עמי לבבל אתמנע חזי כל ארעא קדמך לדתקין ולדכשר בעינך למיזל תמן אזיל:
azyl thmn lmyzl beynk wldkshr ldthqyn qdmk area kl khzy athmne lbbl emy lmythy beynk bysh wam elk eyny yth washwy atha lbbl emy lmytha beynyk thqyn am ydk el dy ezqya mn dyn ywma shrythk ha wken
Now, behold, I release you today from the chains which are on your hand. If it seems good to you to come with me into Babylon, come, and I will take care of you; but if it seems bad to you to come with me into Babylon, don’t. Behold, all the land is before you. Where it seems good and right to you to go, go there.”

ואם לית את צבי למיתב ותוב לות גדליה בר אחיקם בר שפן דמני מלכא דבבל בקרויא דבית יהודה ותיב עמיה בגו עמא או לכל דכשר בעינך למיזל אזיל ומני ליה רב קטוליא מתנן ונבזבן ושלחיה:
wshlkhyh wnbzbn mthnn qTwlya rb lyh wmny azyl lmyzl beynk dkshr lkl aw ema bgw emyh wthyb yhwdh dbyth bqrwya dbbl mlka dmny shpn br akhyqm br gdlyh lwth wthwb lmythb tsby ath lyth wam
Now while he had not yet gone back, “Go back then,” he said, “to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people; or go wherever it seems right to you to go.” So the captain of the guard gave him food and a present, and let him go.

ואתא ירמיה לות גדליה בר אחיקם למצפיא ויתיב עמיה בגו עמא דאשתארו בארעא:
barea dashtharw ema bgw emyh wythyb lmtspya akhyqm br gdlyh lwth yrmyh watha
Then Jeremiah went to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah, and lived with him among the people who were left in the land.

ושמעו כל רבני חילותא די בחקלא אינון וגבריהון ארי מני מלכא דבבל ית גדליה בר אחיקם בארעא וארי מני עמיה גבריא ונשיא וטפלא ומחשיכי עמא דארעא מדלא אתגליאו לבבל:
lbbl athglyaw mdla darea ema wmkhshyky wTpla wnshya gbrya emyh mny wary barea akhyqm br gdlyh yth dbbl mlka mny ary wgbryhwn aynwn bkhqla dy khylwtha rbny kl wshmew
Now when all the captains of the forces who were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed to him men, women, children, and of the poorest of the land, of those who were not carried away captive to Babylon,

ואתו לות גדליה למצפיא וישמעאל בר נתניה ויונתן בר קרח ושריה בר תנחמת ובני עיפי דמנטופא ויזניה בר מעכת אינון וגבריהון:
wgbryhwn aynwn mekth br wyznyh dmnTwpa eypy wbny thnkhmth br wshryh qrkh br wywnthn nthnyh br wyshmeal lmtspya gdlyh lwth wathw
then Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of the Maacathite, they and their men came to Gedaliah to Mizpah.

וקים להון גדליה בר אחיקם בר שפן ולגבריהון למימר לא תדחלון מלמפלח לכסדאי תבו בארעא ופלחו ית מלכא דבבל וייטב לכון:
lkwn wyyTb dbbl mlka yth wplkhw barea thbw lksday mlmplkh thdkhlwn la lmymr wlgbryhwn shpn br akhyqm br gdlyh lhwn wqym
Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan swore to them and to their men, saying, “Don’t be afraid to serve the Chaldeans. Dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it will be well with you.

ואנא הא אנא יתיב במצפיא למיקם קדם כסדאי דיתון עלנא ואתון כנושו חמרא ודבילתא ומשחא ושוו במניכון ותבו בקרויכון דאחדתון:
dakhdthwn bqrwykwn wthbw bmnykwn wshww wmshkha wdbyltha khmra knwshw wathwn elna dythwn ksday qdm lmyqm bmtspya ythyb ana ha wana
As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans who will come to us; but you, gather wine and summer fruits and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that you have taken.”

ואף כל יהודאי די במואב ובבני עמון ובאדום ודי בכל מדינתא שמעו ארי שבק מלכא דבבל שארא לדבית יהודה וארי מני עליהון ית גדליה בר אחיקם בר שפן:
shpn br akhyqm br gdlyh yth elyhwn mny wary yhwdh ldbyth shara dbbl mlka shbq ary shmew mdyntha bkl wdy wbadwm emwn wbbny bmwab dy yhwday kl wap
Likewise when all the Jews who were in Moab, and among the children of Ammon, and in Edom, and who were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan,

ותבו כל יהודאי מכל אתריא דאתבדרו לתמן ואתו לארעא דבית יהודה לות גדליהו למצפיא וכנשו חמרא ודבילתא סגי לחדא:
lkhda sgy wdbyltha khmra wknshw lmtspya gdlyhw lwth yhwdh dbyth larea wathw lthmn dathbdrw athrya mkl yhwday kl wthbw
then all the Jews returned out of all places where they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, to Mizpah, and gathered very much wine and summer fruits.

ויוחנן בר קרח וכל רבני חילותא די בחקלא אתו לות גדליהו למצפיא:
lmtspya gdlyhw lwth athw bkhqla dy khylwtha rbny wkl qrkh br wywkhnn
Moreover Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were in the fields, came to Gedaliah to Mizpah,

ואמרו ליה המידע תדע ארי בעליס מלכא דבני עמון שלח ית ישמעאל בר נתניה למקטלך נפש ולא האמין להון גדליה בר אחיקם:
akhyqm br gdlyh lhwn hamyn wla npsh lmqTlk nthnyh br yshmeal yth shlkh emwn dbny mlka belys ary thde hmyde lyh wamrw
and said to him, “Do you know that Baalis the king of the children of Ammon has sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to take your life?” But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam didn’t believe them.

ויוחנן בר קרח אמר לגדליה בסתרא במצפיא למימר אזיל כען ואמחי ית ישמעאל בר נתניה ואנש לא ידע למה יקטלינך נפש ויתבדרון כל דבית יהודה דאתכנישו לותך ויוביד שארא דבית יהודה:
yhwdh dbyth shara wywbyd lwthk dathknyshw yhwdh dbyth kl wythbdrwn npsh yqTlynk lmh yde la wansh nthnyh br yshmeal yth wamkhy ken azyl lmymr bmtspya bsthra lgdlyh amr qrkh br wywkhnn
Then Johanan the son of Kareah spoke to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, “Please let me go, and I will kill Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man will know it. Why should he take your life, that all the Jews who are gathered to you should be scattered, and the remnant of Judah perish?”

ואמר גדליהו בר אחיקם ליוחנן בר קרח לא תעביד ית פתגמא הדין ארי שקרא את ממלל על ישמעאל:
yshmeal el mmll ath shqra ary hdyn pthgma yth thebyd la qrkh br lywkhnn akhyqm br gdlyhw wamr
But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said to Johanan the son of Kareah, “You shall not do this thing, for you speak falsely of Ishmael.”
