ܘܗܘܐ ܒܫܢܬܐ ܐܪܒܝܥܝܬܐ ܕܝܘܝܩܝܡ ܒܪ ܝܘܫܝܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܗܘܐ ܦܬܓܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܥܠ ܐܪܡܝܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܐܡܪ

In the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,

ܣܒ ܠܟ ܡܓܠܬܐ ܕܣܦܪܐ ܘܟܬܘܒ ܥܠܝܗ̇ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܐ ܕܐܡܪܬ ܠܟ ܥܠ ܐܝܣܪܐܝܠ ܘܥܠ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܥܠ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܡܢ ܝܘܡܐ ܕܐܡܪܬ ܠܟ ܡܢ ܝܘܡ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܝܘܫܝܐ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܢܐ

“Take a scroll of a book, and write in it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel, against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah even to this day.

ܛܟ ܢܫܡܥܘܢ ܕܒܝܬ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܟܠܗ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܕܡܬܚܫܒ ܐܢܐ ܠܡܥܒܕ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܢܗܦܟܘܢ ܓܒܪ ܡܢ ܐܘܪܚܗ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܐܫܒܘܩ ܠܚ̈ܘܒܝܗܘܢ ܘ̈ܠܚܛܗܝܗܘܢ
wlkhThyhwn lkhwbyhwn w'shbwq byshth' 'wrkhh mn gbr wnhpkwn lhwn lmebd 'n' dmthkhshb byshth' klh yhwd' dbyth nshmewn Tk
It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I intend to do to them, that they may each return from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.”

ܘܩܪܐ ܐܪܡܝܐ ܠܒܪܘܟ ܒܪ ܢܪܝܐ ܘܟܬܒ ܒܪܘܟ ܡܢ ܦܘܡܗ ܕܐܪܡܝܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܘܗܝ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܥܠ ܡܓܠܬܐ ܕܣܦܪܐ

Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah; and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all Yahweh’s words, which he had spoken to him, on a scroll of a book.

ܘܦܩܕ ܐܪܡܝܐ ܠܒܪܘܟ ܒܪ ܢܪܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܢܐ ܟܠܐ ܐܢܐ ܘܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܥܘܠ ܠܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ

Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, “I am restricted. I can’t go into Yahweh’s house.

ܥܘܠ ܐܢܬ ܘܩܪܝ ܒܡܓܠܬܐ ܕܟܬܒܬ ܡܢ ܦܘܡܝ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܘܗܝ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܩܕܡ ܥܡܐ ܒܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܨܘܡܐ ܘܐܦ ܩܕܡ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܕܐܬܝܢ ܡܢ ܩܘܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܬܩܪܐ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn thqr' qwryhwn mn d'thyn dyhwd' em' klh qdm w'p dtswm' bywm' dmry' bbythh em' qdm dmry' pthgmwhy pwmy mn dkthbth bmglth' wqry 'nth ewl
Therefore you go, and read from the scroll which you have written from my mouth, Yahweh’s words, in the ears of the people in Yahweh’s house on the fast day. Also you shall read them in the ears of all Judah who come out of their cities.

ܛܟ ܬܦܠ ܒܥܘܬܗܘܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܢܗܦܟܘܢ ܓܒܪ ܡܢ ܐܘܪܚܗ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܢܫܠܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܢ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܪܒ ܗܘ ܪܘܓܙܐ ܘܚܡܬܐ ܕܡܠܠ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܥܡܐ ܗܢܐ

It may be they will present their supplication before Yahweh, and will each return from his evil way; for Yahweh has pronounced great anger and wrath against this people.”

ܘܥܒܕ ܒܪܘܟ ܒܪ ܢܪܝܐ ܟܘܠ ܕܦܩܕܗ ܐܪܡܝܐ ܢܒܝܐ ܠܡܩܪܐ ܒܣܦܪܐ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܘܗܝ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܒܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ

Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book Yahweh’s words in Yahweh’s house.

ܘܗܘܐ ܒܫܢܬܐ ܚܡܝܫܝܬܐ ܕܝܘܝܩܝܡ ܒܪ ܝܘܫܝܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܒܝܪܚܐ ܕܬܫܥܐ ܓܙܪܘ ܨܘܡܐ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܕܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܩܪܐ ܒܪܘܟ ܩܕܡ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܕܐܬܝܢ ܡܢ ܩܘܪ̈ܝܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ

Now in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, all the people in Jerusalem and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem, proclaimed a fast before Yahweh.

ܘܩܪܐ ܒܪܘܟ ܣܦܪܐ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܘܗܝ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܐܪܡܝܐ ܒܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܒܚܢܘܬܗ ܕܓܡܪܝܐ ܒܪ ܫܦܢ ܣܦܪܐ ܒܕܪܬܐ ܥܠܝܬܐ ܒܡܥܠܢܐ ܕܬܪܥܐ ܚܕܬܐ ܕܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܩܕܡ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ

Then Baruch read the words of Jeremiah from the book in Yahweh’s house, in the room of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the new gate of Yahweh’s house, in the ears of all the people.

ܘܫܡܥ ܡܝܟܐ ܒܪ ܓܡܪܝܐ ܒܪ ܫܦܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܘܗܝ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܡܢ ܣܦܪܐ

When Micaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all Yahweh’s words,

ܘܢܚܬ ܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܡܠܟܐ ܠܚܢܘܬܗ ܕܣܦܪܐ ܘܚܙܐ ܬܡܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܝܬܒܝܢ ܐܠܝܫܡܥ ܣܦܪܐ ܘܕܠܝܐ ܒܪ ܫܡܥܝܐ ܘܐܠܝܬܢ ܒܪ ܥܒܟܘܪ ܘܓܡܪܝܐ ܒܪ ܫܦܢ ܘܨܕܩܝܐ ܒܪ ܚܢܢܝܐ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܪܘܪ̈ܒܢܐ

he went down into the king’s house, into the scribe’s room; and behold, all the princes were sitting there, Elishama the scribe, Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, Elnathan the son of Achbor, Gemariah the son of Shaphan, Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.

ܘܚܘܝ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܝܟܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܐ ܕܫܡܥ ܟܕ ܩܪܐ ܒܪܘܟ ܣܦܪܐ ܒܐ̈ܕܢܘܗܝ ܕܥܡܐ

Then Micaiah declared to them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.

ܘܫܕܪܘ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܪܘܪ̈ܒܢܐ ܠܘܬ ܒܪܘܟ ܠܝܗܘܕܝ ܒܪ ܢܬܢܝܐ ܒܪ ܫܠܡܝܐ ܒܪ ܟܘܫܝ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗ ܡܓܠܬܐ ܕܩܪܝܬ ܒܗ̇ ܩܕܡ ܥܡܐ ܣܒܝܗ̇ ܒܐܝܕܟ ܘܬܐ ܘܢܣܒ ܒܪܘܟ ܒܪ ܢܪܝܐ ܡܓܠܬܐ ܒܐܝܕܗ ܘܐܬܐ ܠܘܬܗܘܢ

Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, “Take in your hand the scroll in which you have read in the ears of the people, and come.” So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand, and came to them.

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗ ܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܬܒ ܘܩܪܝܗ̇ ܩܕܡܝܢ ܘܩܪܗ̇ ܒܪܘܟ ܩܕܡܝܗܘܢ
qdmyhwn brwk wqrh qdmyn wqryh thb rwrbn' lh w'mrw
They said to him, “Sit down now, and read it in our hearing.” So Baruch read it in their hearing.

ܘܟܕ ܫܡܥܘ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܐ ܬܘܗܘ ܓܒܪ ܥܠ ܚܒܪܗ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܒܪܘܟ ܡܚܘܝܢܢ ܠܡܠܟܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܐ ܗܠܝܢ

Now when they had heard all the words, they turned in fear one toward another, and said to Baruch, “We will surely tell the king of all these words.”

ܘܠܒܪܘܟ ܫܐܠܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗ ܚܘܢ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܟܬܒܬ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܢ ܦܘܡܗ
pwmh mn hlyn pthgm' klhwn kthbth 'ykn' khwn lh w'mrw sh'lwhy wlbrwk
They asked Baruch, saying, “Tell us now, how did you write all these words at his mouth?”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܒܪܘܟ ܡܢ ܦܘܡܗ ܐܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܠܝ ܐܪܡܝܐ ܟܘܠܗܘܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܘܐܢܐ ܟܬܒ ܗܘܝܬ ܥܠ ܣܦܪܐ ܒܕܝܘܬܐ
bdywth' spr' el hwyth kthb w'n' hlyn pthgm' kwlhwn 'rmy' ly hw' 'mr pwmh mn brwk lhwn w'mr
Then Baruch answered them, “He dictated all these words to me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.”

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܠܒܪܘܟ ܙܠ ܘܐܬܛܫܐ ܐܢܬ ܘܐܪܡܝܐ ܘܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܢܕܥ ܐܝܟܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ
'nthwn 'yk' nde l' w'nsh w'rmy' 'nth w'thTsh' zl lbrwk rwrbn' w'mrw
Then the princes said to Baruch, “You and Jeremiah go hide. Don’t let anyone know where you are.”

ܘܐܬܘ ܠܘܬ ܡܠܟܐ ܠܕܪܬܐ ܘܡܓܠܬܐ ܣܡܘܗ ܒܚܢܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܝܫܡܥ ܣܦܪܐ ܘܚܘܝܘ ܩܕܡ ܡܠܟܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܐ ܗܠܝܢ
hlyn pthgm' klhwn mlk' qdm wkhwyw spr' d'lyshme bkhnwthh smwh wmglth' ldrth' mlk' lwth w'thw
They went in to the king into the court, but they had laid up the scroll in the room of Elishama the scribe. Then they told all the words in the hearing of the king.

ܘܫܕܪ ܡܠܟܐ ܠܝܗܘܕܝ ܕܢܝܬܝܗ̇ ܠܡܓܠܬܐ ܘܢܣܒܗ̇ ܡܢ ܚܢܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܝܫܡܥ ܣܦܪܐ ܘܩܪܗ̇ ܝܗܘܕܝ ܩܕܡ ܡܠܟܐ ܘܩܕܡ ܟܘܠܗܘܢ ܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܕܩܝܡܝܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܠܟܐ
mlk' qdm dqymyn rwrbn' kwlhwn wqdm mlk' qdm yhwdy wqrh spr' d'lyshme khnwthh mn wnsbh lmglth' dnythyh lyhwdy mlk' wshdr
So the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll, and he took it out of the room of Elishama the scribe. Jehudi read it in the hearing of the king, and in the hearing of all the princes who stood beside the king.

ܘܡܠܟܐ ܝܬܒ ܗܘܐ ܒܝܬ ܣܬܘܐ ܒܝܪܚܐ ܕܬܫܥܐ ܘܢܘܪܐ ܣܝܡܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ
qdmwhy hww symyn wnwr' dthshe' byrkh' sthw' byth hw' ythb wmlk'
Now the king was sitting in the winter house in the ninth month, and there was a fire in the brazier burning before him.

ܘܟܕ ܩܪܐ ܝܗܘܕܝ ܬܠܬ ܦܨ̈ܝܢ ܘܐܪ̈ܒܥ ܨܪܗ̇ ܒܙܡܠܝܐ ܕܣܦܪܐ ܘܫܕܗ̇ ܒܓܘܡܪ̈ܐ ܕܢܘܪܐ ܘܝܩܕܬ ܟܠܗ̇ ܡܓܠܬܐ ܒܢܘܪܐ ܕܥܠ ܩܡܝܢܐ
qmyn' del bnwr' mglth' klh wyqdth dnwr' bgwmr' wshdh dspr' bzmly' tsrh w'rbe ptsyn thlth yhwdy qr' wkd
When Jehudi had read three or four columns, the king cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.

ܘܠܐ ܕܚܠܘ ܘܠܐ ܨܪܝܘ ܠܒ̈ܘܫܝܗܘܢ ܡܠܟܐ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܒ̈ܕܘܗܝ ܟܕ ܫܡܥܘ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܐ ܗܠܝܢ
hlyn pthgm' klhwn shmew kd ebdwhy wklhwn mlk' lbwshyhwn tsryw wl' dkhlw wl'
The king and his servants who heard all these words were not afraid, and didn’t tear their garments.

ܘܐܦ ܐܠܝܬܢ ܘܓܡܪܝܐ ܘܕܠܝܐ ܒܥܘ ܡܢ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܘܩܕܝܗ̇ ܠܡܓܠܬܐ ܒܢܘܪܐ ܘܠܐ ܫܡܥ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn shme wl' bnwr' lmglth' nwqdyh dl' mlk' mn bew wdly' wgmry' 'lythn w'p
Moreover Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the scroll; but he would not listen to them.

ܘܦܩܕ ܡܠܟܐ ܠܒܪ ܚܡܐܝܠ ܒܪ ܡܠܟܐ ܘܠܫܪܝܐ ܒܪ ܥܙܪܐܝܠ ܘܠܫܠܡܝܐ ܒܪ ܥܒܕܐܝܠ ܠܡܐܚܕ ܠܐܪܡܝܐ ܢܒܝܐ ܘܠܒܪܘܟ ܣܦܪܐ ܘܛܫܝ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ

The king commanded Jerahmeel the king’s son, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to arrest Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet; but Yahweh hid them.

ܘܗܘܐ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܐܪܡܝܐ ܢܒܝܐ ܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܕܐܘܩܕ ܡܠܟܐ ܡܓܠܬܐ ܘܦܬ̈ܓܡܐ ܕܟܬܒ ܒܪܘܟ ܡܢ ܦܘܡܗ ܕܐܪܡܝܐ ܠܡܐܡܪ

Then Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, after the king had burned the scroll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,

ܗܦܘܟ ܣܒ ܠܟ ܡܓܠܬܐ ܐܚܪܬܐ ܘܟܬܘܒ ܥܠܝܗ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܐ ܩܕܡ̈ܝܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܗܘܘ ܥܠ ܡܓܠܬܐ ܕܐܘܩܕ ܝܘܝܩܝܡ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ
dyhwd' mlk' ywyqym d'wqd mglth' el hww d'yth qdmy' pthgm' klhwn elyh wkthwb 'khrth' mglth' lk sb hpwk
“Take again another scroll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first scroll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned.

ܘܠܝܘܝܩܝܡ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܬܐܡܪ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܢܬ ܐܘܩܕܬ ܡܓܠܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܘܐܡܪܬ ܡܛܠ ܡܢܐ ܟܬܒܬ ܥܠܝܗ̇ ܕܢܐܬܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܒܒܠ ܘܢܚܪܒܝܗ̇ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܗܕܐ ܘܢܒܛܠ ܡܢܗ̇ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܘܒܥܝܪܐ

Concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say, ‘Yahweh says: “You have burned this scroll, saying, ‘Why have you written therein, saying, “The king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and will cause to cease from there man and animal”?’”

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܝܘܝܩܝܡ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܠܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܝܬܒ ܥܠ ܟܘܪܣܝܗ ܕܕܘܝܕ ܘܫܠܕܗ ܬܗܘܐ ܪܡܝܐ ܒܫܘܒܐ ܒܐܝܡܡܐ ܘܒܓܠܝܕܐ ܒܠܠܝܐ

Therefore Yahweh says concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: “He will have no one to sit on David’s throne. His dead body will be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.

ܘܐܦܩܘܕ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܘܥܠ ܙܪܥܗ ܘܥܠ ܥܒ̈ܕܘܗܝ ܥܘܠܗܘܢ ܘܐܝܬܐ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܘܥܠ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܡܘܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܕܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܥܠ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܟܠܗ̇ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܕܐܡܪܬ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܥܠ ܕܠܐ ܫܡܥܘ ܒܩܠܝ
bqly shmew dl' el elyhwn d'mrth byshth' klh dyhwd' 'nsh' wel d'wrshlm emwryh klhwn wel elyhwn w'yth' ewlhwn ebdwhy wel zreh wel elwhy w'pqwd
I will punish him, his offspring, and his servants for their iniquity. I will bring on them, on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and on the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they didn’t listen.”’”

ܘܐܪܡܝܐ ܢܣܒ ܡܓܠܬܐ ܐܚܪܬܐ ܘܝܗܒܗ̇ ܠܒܪܘܟ ܒܪ ܢܪܝܐ ܣܦܪܐ ܘܟܬܒ ܥܠܝܗ̇ ܡܢ ܦܘܡܗ ܕܐܪܡܝܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܐ ܕܟܬܝܒܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܣܦܪܐ ܕܐܘܩܕ ܝܘܝܩܝܡ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܒܢܘܪܐ ܘܬܘܒ ܐܘܣܦ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܐ ܕܣܓ̈ܝܐܝܢ ܐܟܘܬܗܘܢ

Then Jeremiah took another scroll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire; and many similar words were added to them.
