ܦܬܓܡܐ ܕܗܘܐ ܥܠ ܐܪܡܝܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܒܝ̈ܘܡܘܗܝ ܕܝܘܝܩܝܡ ܒܪ ܝܘܫܝܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܠܡܐܡܪ
lm'mr dyhwd' mlk' ywshy' br dywyqym bywmwhy mry' qdm mn 'rmy' el dhw' pthgm'
The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,

ܙܠ ܠܒܝܬ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܪܟܒܝܡ ܘܡܠܠ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܘܐܥܠ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܚܕܐ ܡܢ ܚ̈ܢܘܬܐ ܘܐܫܩܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܚܡܪܐ
khmr' 'nwn w'shq' khnwth' mn lkhd' dmry' lbythh 'nwn w'el emhwn wmll rkbym bny lbyth zl
“Go to the house of the Rechabites, and speak to them, and bring them into Yahweh’s house, into one of the rooms, and give them wine to drink.”

ܘܕܒܪܬ ܠܝܙܢܝܐ ܒܪ ܐܡܪܝܐ ܒܪ ܚܒܨܢܝܐ ܘܠܐ̈ܚܘܗܝ ܘܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܒܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܘܠܟܠܗ ܒܝܬ ܪܟܒܝܡ

Then I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, with his brothers, all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites;

ܘܐܥܠܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܒܝܬܐ ܕܒܢ̈ܝ ܚܢܢ ܒܪ ܓܕܠܝܐ ܢܒܝܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܩܪܝܒ ܒܝܬܗ ܠܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܕܝܬܒܝܢ ܠܥܠ ܡܢ ܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܥܣܝܐ ܒܪ ܫܠܘܡ ܢܛܪ ܬܪܥܐ
thre' nTr shlwm br dmesy' bythh mn lel dythbyn lrwrbn' bythh dqryb d'lh' nbyh gdly' br khnn dbny lbyth' dmry' lbythh 'nwn w'elth
and I brought them into Yahweh’s house, into the room of the sons of Hanan the son of Igdaliah, the man of God, which was by the room of the princes, which was above the room of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the threshold.

ܘܣܡܬ ܩܕܡ ܒ̈ܢܝ ܒܝܬ ܪܟܒܝܡ ܐ̈ܓܢܐ ܕܡ̈ܠܝܢ ܚܡܪܐ ܘܟܣ̈ܐ ܘܐܡܪܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܫܬܘ ܚܡܪܐ
khmr' 'shthw lhwn w'mrth wks' khmr' dmlyn 'gn' rkbym byth bny qdm wsmth
I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites bowls full of wine, and cups; and I said to them, “Drink wine!”

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܐ ܫܬܝܢܢ ܚܡܪܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܝܘܢܕܒ ܒܪ ܪܟܒ ܐܒܘܢ ܦܩܕܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܢ ܠܐ ܬܫܬܘܢ ܚܡܪܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܒܢܝ̈ܟܘܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܥܠܡ
lelm edm' wbnykwn 'nthwn khmr' thshthwn l' ln w'mr pqdn 'bwn rkb br dywndb mTl khmr' shthynn l' w'mrw
But they said, “We will drink no wine; for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying, ‘You shall drink no wine, neither you nor your children, forever.

ܘܒ̈ܬܐ ܠܐ ܬܒܢܘܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܙܪܥܐ ܠܐ ܬܙܪܥܘܢ ܘܟܪ̈ܡܐ ܠܐ ܬܨܒܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܒܡܫ̈ܟܢܐ ܬܬܒܘܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܬܚܘܢ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܣܓ̈ܝܐܐ ܥܠ ܐ̈ܦܝ ܐܪܥܐ ܕܥܡܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܗ̇
bh 'nthwn demryn 're' 'py el sgy'' ywmth' dthkhwn mTl ywmth' klhwn ththbwn bmshkn' 'l' lkwn nhw' wl' thtsbwn l' wkrm' thzrewn l' wzre' lkwn thbnwn l' wbth'
You shall not build a house, sow seed, plant a vineyard, or have any; but all your days you shall dwell in tents, that you may live many days in the land in which you live as nomads.’

ܘܫܡܥܢ ܦܘܩܕܢܗ ܕܝܘܢܕܒ ܒܪ ܪܟܒ ܐܒܘܢ ܟܠ ܕܦܩܕܢ ܕܠܐ ܢܫܬܐ ܚܡܪܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܢ ܠܐ ܚܢܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܫ̈ܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܒ̈ܢܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܒܢ̈ܬܢ
bnthn wl' bnyn wl' nshyn wl' khnn l' ywmthn klhwn khmr' nshth' dl' dpqdn kl 'bwn rkb br dywndb pwqdnh wshmen
We have obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, in all that he commanded us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, or our daughters;

ܘܠܐ ܢܒܢܐ ܒ̈ܬܐ ܠܡܘܬܒܢ ܘܟܪ̈ܡܐ ܘܚ̈ܩܠܬܐ ܘܙܪܥܐ ܠܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܠܢ
ln nhw' l' wzre' wkhqlth' wkrm' lmwthbn bth' nbn' wl'
and not to build houses for ourselves to dwell in. We have no vineyard, field, or seed;

ܘܝܬܒܢ ܒܡܫ̈ܟܢܐ ܘܫܡܥܢ ܘܥܒܕܢ ܟܠ ܕܦܩܕܢ ܝܘܢܕܒ ܐܒܘܢ
'bwn ywndb dpqdn kl webdn wshmen bmshkn' wythbn
but we have lived in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.

ܘܟܕ ܣܠܩ ܢܒܘܟܕܢܨܪ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܒܒܠ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܐܡܪܢ ܕܢܥܘܠ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܚܝܠܐ ܕܟ̈ܠܕܝܐ ܘܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܚܝܠܐ ܕܐܕܘܡ ܘܝܬܒܢ ܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ
b'wrshlm wythbn d'dwm khyl' qdm wmn dkldy' khyl' qdm mn l'wrshlm dnewl 'mrn 're' el dbbl mlk' nbwkdntsr slq wkd
But when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, we said, ‘Come! Let’s go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians; so we will dwell at Jerusalem.’”

ܘܗܘܐ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܐܪܡܝܐ ܠܡܐܡܪ

Then Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, saying,

ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܨܒܐܘܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܙܠ ܐܡܪ ܠܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܠܥܡܘܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܕܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܠܐ ܡܩܒܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܪܕܘܬܐ ܠܡܫܡܥ ܦܬܓܡ̈ܝ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' 'mr pthgmy lmshme mrdwth' 'nthwn mqblyn l' d'wrshlm wlemwryh dyhwd' lgbr' 'mr zl d'ysryl 'lh' tsb'wth mry' 'mr hkn'
“Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, “Will you not receive instruction to listen to my words?” says Yahweh.

ܫܪܘ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܘܗܝ ܕܝܘܢܕܒ ܒܪ ܪܟܒ ܕܦܩܕ ܠܒܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܠܐ ܢܫܬܘܢ ܚܡܪܐ ܘܠܐ ܐܫܬܝܘ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܢܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܫܡܥܘ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܕܐܒܘܗܘܢ ܘܐܢܐ ܐܡܪܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܩܕܡܬ ܘܐܡܪܬ ܘܠܐ ܫܡܥܬܘܢ

“The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab that he commanded his sons, not to drink wine, are performed; and to this day they drink none, for they obey their father’s commandment; but I have spoken to you, rising up early and speaking, and you have not listened to me.

ܘܫܕܪܬ ܠܘܬܟܘܢ ܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܒ̈ܕܝ ܢܒ̈ܝܐ ܩܕܡܬ ܘܫܕܪܬ ܘܐܡܪܬ ܬܘܒܘ ܓܒܪ ܡܢ ܐܘܪܚܗ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܐܛܐܒܘ ܥܒ̈ܕܝܟܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܬܐܙܠܘܢ ܒܬܪ ܐ̈ܠܗܐ ܐܚܪ̈ܢܐ ܠܡܦܠܚ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܬܒܘ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܕܝܗܒܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܠܐ̈ܒܗܝܟܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܨܠܝܬܘܢ ܐܕܢܟܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܫܡܥܬܘܢܢܝ

I have sent also to you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, ‘Every one of you must return now from his evil way, amend your doings, and don’t go after other gods to serve them. Then you will dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers;’ but you have not inclined your ear, nor listened to me.

ܗܐ ܐܫܪܘ ܒܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܝܘܢܕܒ ܒܪ ܪܟܒ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܕܐܒܘܗܘܢ ܕܦܩܕ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܥܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܠܐ ܫܡܥܘܢܝ
shmewny l' hn' wem' 'nwn dpqd d'bwhwn pwqdn' rkb br dywndb bnwhy 'shrw h'
The sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father which he commanded them, but this people has not listened to me.”’

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܗܐ ܡܝܬܐ ܐܢܐ ܥܠ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܥܠ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܡܘܪ̈ܝܗ ܕܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܟܘܠܗ̇ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܕܐܡܪܬ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܥܠ ܕܐܡܪܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܫܡܥܘ ܘܩܪܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܥܢܐܘܢܝ
en'wny wl' lhwn wqryth shmew wl' lhwn d'mrth el elyhwn d'mrth byshth' kwlh d'wrshlm emwryh klhwn wel yhwd' el 'n' myth' h' d'ysryl 'lh' mry' 'mr hkn' hn' mTl
“Therefore Yahweh, the God of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I will bring on Judah and on all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them, because I have spoken to them, but they have not heard; and I have called to them, but they have not answered.’”

ܘܠܒܝܬ ܪܟܒܝܡ ܐܡܪ ܐܪܡܝܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܚܠܦ ܕܫܡܥܬܘܢ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܕܝܘܢܕܒ ܐܒܘܟܘܢ ܘܢܛܪܬܘܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܦܘܩ̈ܕܢܘܗܝ ܘܥܒܕܬܘܢ ܟܠܡܕܡ ܕܦܩܕܟܘܢ

Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites, “Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Because you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according to all that he commanded you,’

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܐ ܢܥܢܕ ܓܒܪܐ ܠܝܘܢܕܒ ܒܪ ܪܟܒ ܕܩܐܡ ܩܕܡܝ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ
ywmth' klhwn qdmy dq'm rkb br lywndb gbr' nend l' d'ysryl 'lh' khylthn' mry' 'mr hkn' hn' mTl
therefore Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Jonadab the son of Rechab will not lack a man to stand before me forever.’”
