פתגם נבואה דהוה עם ירמיה מן קדם יי ביומי יהויקים בר יאשיהו מלך שבטא דבית יהודה למימר:
lmymr yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk yashyhw br yhwyqym bywmy yy qdm mn yrmyh em dhwh nbwah pthgm
The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,

אזיל לות בני בית רכב ותמלל עמהון ותעלינון לבית מקדשא דיי לחדא מן לשכתא ותשקי יתהון חמרא:
khmra ythhwn wthshqy lshktha mn lkhda dyy mqdsha lbyth wthelynwn emhwn wthmll rkb byth bny lwth azyl
“Go to the house of the Rechabites, and speak to them, and bring them into Yahweh’s house, into one of the rooms, and give them wine to drink.”

ודברית ית יאזניה בר ירמיה בר חבצניה וית אחוהי וית כל בנוהי וית כל בני בית רכב:
rkb byth bny kl wyth bnwhy kl wyth akhwhy wyth khbtsnyh br yrmyh br yaznyh yth wdbryth
Then I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, with his brothers, all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites;

ואעלית יתהון לבית מקדשא דיי ללשכת בר חנן בר יגדליהו נביא דיי דבסטר לשכת מעשיה בר שלם אמרכלא:
amrkla shlm br meshyh lshkth dbsTr dyy nbya ygdlyhw br khnn br llshkth dyy mqdsha lbyth ythhwn waelyth
and I brought them into Yahweh’s house, into the room of the sons of Hanan the son of Igdaliah, the man of God, which was by the room of the princes, which was above the room of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the threshold.

ויהבית קדם בני בית רכב כלידין מלן חמרא וכסין ואמרית להון שתו חמרא:
khmra shthw lhwn wamryth wksyn khmra mln klydyn rkb byth bny qdm wyhbyth
I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites bowls full of wine, and cups; and I said to them, “Drink wine!”

ואמרו לא נשתי חמרא ארי יונדב בר רכב אבונא פקיד עלנא למימר לא תשתון חמרא אתון ובניכון עד עלמא:
elma ed wbnykwn athwn khmra thshthwn la lmymr elna pqyd abwna rkb br ywndb ary khmra nshthy la wamrw
But they said, “We will drink no wine; for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying, ‘You shall drink no wine, neither you nor your children, forever.

וביתא לא תבנון וזרעא לא תזרעון וכרמיא לא תצבון ולא יהי לכון ארי במשכנין תיתבון כל יומיכון בדיל דתתקימון יומין סגיאין על אפי ארעא דאתון דירין תמן:
thmn dyryn dathwn area apy el sgyayn ywmyn dththqymwn bdyl ywmykwn kl thythbwn bmshknyn ary lkwn yhy wla thtsbwn la wkrmya thzrewn la wzrea thbnwn la wbytha
You shall not build a house, sow seed, plant a vineyard, or have any; but all your days you shall dwell in tents, that you may live many days in the land in which you live as nomads.’

וקבילנא למימר יונדב בר רכב אבונא לכל דפקידנא בדיל דלא למשתי חמרא כל יומנא אנחנא נשנא בננא ובנתנא:
wbnthna bnna nshna ankhna ywmna kl khmra lmshthy dla bdyl dpqydna lkl abwna rkb br ywndb lmymr wqbylna
We have obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, in all that he commanded us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, or our daughters;

ובדיל דלא למבני בתין למתבנא וכרמין וחקלין וזרעין לא יהא לנא:
lna yha la wzreyn wkhqlyn wkrmyn lmthbna bthyn lmbny dla wbdyl
and not to build houses for ourselves to dwell in. We have no vineyard, field, or seed;

ויתיבנא במשכנין וקבילנא ועבדנא ככל דפקידנא יונדב אבונא:
abwna ywndb dpqydna kkl webdna wqbylna bmshknyn wythybna
but we have lived in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.

והוה כד סליק נבוכדראצר מלכא דבבל על ארעא ואמרנא אתו וניעול לירושלם מן קדם משרית כסדאי ומן קדם משרית ארם ויתיבנא בירושלם:
byrwshlm wythybna arm mshryth qdm wmn ksday mshryth qdm mn lyrwshlm wnyewl athw wamrna area el dbbl mlka nbwkdratsr slyq kd whwh
But when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, we said, ‘Come! Let’s go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians; so we will dwell at Jerusalem.’”

והוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עם ירמיה למימר:
lmymr yrmyh em yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm whwh
Then Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, saying,

כדנן אמר יי צבאות אלהא דישראל אזיל ותימר לאנש יהודה וליתבי ירושלם הלא תקבלון אולפן לקבלא לפתגמי אמר יי:
yy amr lpthgmy lqbla awlpn thqblwn hla yrwshlm wlythby yhwdh lansh wthymr azyl dyshral alha tsbawth yy amr kdnn
“Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, “Will you not receive instruction to listen to my words?” says Yahweh.

אתקימו פתגמי יונדב בר רכב דפקיד ית בנוהי בדיל דלא למשתי חמרא ולא אשתיאו עד יומא הדין ארי קבילו ית תפקדתא דאבוהון ואנא שלחית לותכון ית כל עבדי נבייא מקדים וממליל ולא קבילתון למימרי:
lmymry qbylthwn wla wmmlyl mqdym nbyya ebdy kl yth lwthkwn shlkhyth wana dabwhwn thpqdtha yth qbylw ary hdyn ywma ed ashthyaw wla khmra lmshthy dla bdyl bnwhy yth dpqyd rkb br ywndb pthgmy athqymw
“The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab that he commanded his sons, not to drink wine, are performed; and to this day they drink none, for they obey their father’s commandment; but I have spoken to you, rising up early and speaking, and you have not listened to me.

ושלחית לותכון ית כל עבדי נבייא מקדים ומשלח למימר תובו כען גבר מאורחיה בישתא ואתקינו עובדיכון ולא תהכון בתר טעות פלחי כוכביא למפלחהון ותיבו על ארעא דיהבת לכון ולאבהתכון ולא ארכינתון ית אודנכון ולא קבילתון למימרי:
lmymry qbylthwn wla awdnkwn yth arkynthwn wla wlabhthkwn lkwn dyhbth area el wthybw lmplkhhwn kwkbya plkhy Tewth bthr thhkwn wla ewbdykwn wathqynw byshtha mawrkhyh gbr ken thwbw lmymr wmshlkh mqdym nbyya ebdy kl yth lwthkwn wshlkhyth
I have sent also to you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, ‘Every one of you must return now from his evil way, amend your doings, and don’t go after other gods to serve them. Then you will dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers;’ but you have not inclined your ear, nor listened to me.

ארי אקימו בני יונדב בר רכב ית תפקדתא דאבוהון דפקדינון ועמא הדין לא קבילו למימרי:
lmymry qbylw la hdyn wema dpqdynwn dabwhwn thpqdtha yth rkb br ywndb bny aqymw ary
The sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father which he commanded them, but this people has not listened to me.”’

בכן כדנן אמר יי צבאות אלהא דישראל הא אנא מיתי על אנש יהודה ועל כל יתבי ירושלם ית כל בישתא דגזרית עליהון חלף דשלחית לותהון ית כל עבדי נבייא ולא קבילו ואתנביאו להון ולא תבו:
thbw wla lhwn wathnbyaw qbylw wla nbyya ebdy kl yth lwthhwn dshlkhyth khlp elyhwn dgzryth byshtha kl yth yrwshlm ythby kl wel yhwdh ansh el mythy ana ha dyshral alha tsbawth yy amr kdnn bkn
“Therefore Yahweh, the God of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I will bring on Judah and on all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them, because I have spoken to them, but they have not heard; and I have called to them, but they have not answered.’”

ולבני בית רכב אמר ירמיה כדנן אמר יי צבאות אלהא דישראל חלף דקבילתון לתפקידת יהונדב אבוכון ונטרתון ית כל פקודוהי ועבדתון ככל דפקיד יתכון:
ythkwn dpqyd kkl webdthwn pqwdwhy kl yth wnTrthwn abwkwn yhwndb lthpqydth dqbylthwn khlp dyshral alha tsbawth yy amr kdnn yrmyh amr rkb byth wlbny
Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites, “Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Because you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according to all that he commanded you,’
