פתגם נבואה דהוה עם ירמיה מן קדם יי בשתא עשיריתא לצדקיה מלך שבטא דבית יהודה היא שתא תמני עסרי שנין לנבוכדראצר:
lnbwkdratsr shnyn esry thmny shtha hya yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk ltsdqyh eshyrytha bshtha yy qdm mn yrmyh em dhwh nbwah pthgm
This is the word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar.

בכן משרית מלכא דבבל צירין על ירושלם וירמיה נביא הוה כלי בדרת בית אסיריא די בבית מלך שבטא דבית יהודה:
yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk bbyth dy asyrya byth bdrth kly hwh nbya wyrmyh yrwshlm el tsyryn dbbl mlka mshryth bkn
Now at that time the king of Babylon’s army was besieging Jerusalem. Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the guard, which was in the king of Judah’s house.

דאסריה צדקיה מלך שבטא דבית יהודה למימר מדין את מתנבי למימר כדנן אמר יי האנא מסר ית קרתא הדא ביד מלכא דבבל ויכבשינה:
wykbshynh dbbl mlka byd hda qrtha yth msr hana yy amr kdnn lmymr mthnby ath mdyn lmymr yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk tsdqyh dasryh
For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, “Why do you prophesy, and say, ‘Yahweh says, “Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will take it;

וצדקיה מלך שבטא דבית יהודה לא ישתיזיב מידא דכסדאי ארי אתמסרא יתמסר ביד מלכא דבבל וימליל פומיה עם פומיה ועינוהי ית עינוהי יחזין:
ykhzyn eynwhy yth weynwhy pwmyh em pwmyh wymlyl dbbl mlka byd ythmsr athmsra ary dksday myda yshthyzyb la yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk wtsdqyh
and Zedekiah king of Judah won’t escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but will surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and will speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes will see his eyes;

ולבבל יוביל ית צדקיה ותמן יהי עד דיעול דוכרניה קדמי אמר יי ארי תגיחון קרב עם כסדאי לא תצלחון:
thtslkhwn la ksday em qrb thgykhwn ary yy amr qdmy dwkrnyh dyewl ed yhy wthmn tsdqyh yth ywbyl wlbbl
and he will bring Zedekiah to Babylon, and he will be there until I visit him,” says Yahweh, “though you fight with the Chaldeans, you will not prosper”’?”

ואמר ירמיה הוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עמי למימר:
lmymr emy yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm hwh yrmyh wamr
Jeremiah said, “Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

הא חנמאל בר שלם אחבוך אתי לותך למימר זבון לך ית חקלי דבענתות ארי לך חזיא אחסנתא למזבן:
lmzbn akhsntha khzya lk ary dbenthwth khqly yth lk zbwn lmymr lwthk athy akhbwk shlm br khnmal ha
‘Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle will come to you, saying, “Buy my field that is in Anathoth; for the right of redemption is yours to buy it.”’”

ואתא לותי חנמאל בר אחבי כפתגמא דיי לדרת בית אסיריא ואמר לי זבון כען ית חקלי דבענתות דבארע שבטא בנימין ארי לך חזיא ירותא ולך אחסנתא זבון לך וידעת ארי פתגמא דיי הוא:
hwa dyy pthgma ary wydeth lk zbwn akhsntha wlk yrwtha khzya lk ary bnymyn shbTa dbare dbenthwth khqly yth ken zbwn ly wamr asyrya byth ldrth dyy kpthgma akhby br khnmal lwthy watha
“So Hanamel my uncle’s son came to me in the court of the guard according to Yahweh’s word, and said to me, ‘Please buy my field that is in Anathoth, which is in the land of Benjamin; for the right of inheritance is yours, and the redemption is yours. Buy it for yourself.’ “Then I knew that this was Yahweh’s word.

וזבנית ית חקלא מן חנמאל בר אחבי דבענתות ותקלית ליה ית כספא שבעא מנן ועסר סלעין דכסף:
dksp sleyn wesr mnn shbea kspa yth lyh wthqlyth dbenthwth akhby br khnmal mn khqla yth wzbnyth
I bought the field that was in Anathoth of Hanamel my uncle’s son, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.

וכתבית בשטרא וחתמית ואסהידית סהדין ותקלית כספא במוזניא:
bmwznya kspa wthqlyth shdyn washydyth wkhthmyth bshTra wkthbyth
I signed the deed, sealed it, called witnesses, and weighed the money in the balances to him.

ונסיבית ית שטרא דזבינא ית דכתיב בעיץ וחתים כהלכתא וכדחזא וית שטרא פתיחא:
pthykha shTra wyth wkdkhza khlktha wkhthym beyts dkthyb yth dzbyna shTra yth wnsybyth
So I took the deed of the purchase, both that which was sealed, containing the terms and conditions, and that which was open;

ויהבית ית שטרא דזביני לברוך בר נריה בר מחסיה לעיני חנמאל אחבי ולעיני סהדיא דכתיבין בשטרא דזביני לעיני כל יהודאי דיתבין בדרת בית אסיריא:
asyrya byth bdrth dythbyn yhwday kl leyny dzbyny bshTra dkthybyn shdya wleyny akhby khnmal leyny mkhsyh br nryh br lbrwk dzbyny shTra yth wyhbyth
and I delivered the deed of the purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the presence of Hanamel my uncle’s son, and in the presence of the witnesses who signed the deed of the purchase, before all the Jews who sat in the court of the guard.

ופקדית ית ברוך לעיניהון למימר:
lmymr leynyhwn brwk yth wpqdyth
“I commanded Baruch before them, saying,

כדנן אמר יי צבאות אלהא דישראל סב ית שטריא האלין ית שטרא דזבינא הדין ית דכתיב בעיץ וחתים וית שטרא פתיחא הדין ותתנינון במן דחסף בדיל דיתקיימון יומין סגיאין:
sgyayn ywmyn dythqyymwn bdyl dkhsp bmn wththnynwn hdyn pthykha shTra wyth wkhthym beyts dkthyb yth hdyn dzbyna shTra yth halyn shTrya yth sb dyshral alha tsbawth yy amr kdnn
Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Take these deeds, this deed of the purchase which is sealed, and this deed which is open, and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may last many days.’

ארי כדנן אמר יי צבאות אלהא דישראל עוד יזדבנון בתין וחקלין וכרמין בארעא הדא:
hda barea wkrmyn wkhqlyn bthyn yzdbnwn ewd dyshral alha tsbawth yy amr kdnn ary
For Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel says: ‘Houses and fields and vineyards will yet again be bought in this land.’

וצליתי קדם יי בתר דיהבית ית שטרא דזביני לברוך בר נריה למימר:
lmymr nryh br lbrwk dzbyny shTra yth dyhbyth bthr yy qdm wtslythy
Now after I had delivered the deed of the purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed to Yahweh, saying,

קביל בעותי יי אלהים הא את עבדתא ית שמיא וית ארעא בחילך רבא ובדרעך מרממא לא יתכסי מן קדמך כל פתגם:
pthgm kl qdmk mn ythksy la mrmma wbdrek rba bkhylk area wyth shmya yth ebdtha ath ha alhym yy bewthy qbyl
“Ah Lord Yahweh! Behold, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for you.

עביד טיבו לאלפי דרין ומשלם חובי אבהתא לבניא כד משלמין למחטי בתריהון אלהא רבא גברא יי צבאות שמיה:
shmyh tsbawth yy gbra rba alha bthryhwn lmkhTy mshlmyn kd lbnya abhtha khwby wmshlm dryn lalpy Tybw ebyd
You show loving kindness to thousands, and repay the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them. The great, the mighty God, Yahweh of Armies is your name:

דרברבין מלכוהי וסגיאין עובדוהי די קדמך גלין כל אורחת בני אנשא למתן לאנש כאורחתיה וכפירי עובדוהי:
ewbdwhy wkpyry kawrkhthyh lansh lmthn ansha bny awrkhth kl glyn qdmk dy ewbdwhy wsgyayn mlkwhy drbrbyn
great in counsel, and mighty in work; whose eyes are open to all the ways of the children of men, to give everyone according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings;

דשויתא אתין ומופתין בארעא דמצרים עד יומא הדין ולישראל עבדתא פרישן בגו בני אנשא ועבדתא לך שום ביומא הדין:
hdyn bywma shwm lk webdtha ansha bny bgw pryshn ebdtha wlyshral hdyn ywma ed dmtsrym barea wmwpthyn athyn dshwytha
who performed signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even to this day, both in Israel and among other men; and made yourself a name, as it is today;

ואפיקתא ית עמך ית ישראל מארעא דמצרים באתין ובמופתין וביד תקיפא ובאדרע מרמם ובחזונא רבא:
rba wbkhzwna mrmm wbadre thqypa wbyd wbmwpthyn bathyn dmtsrym marea yshral yth emk yth wapyqtha
and brought your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, with wonders, with a strong hand, with an outstretched arm, and with great terror;

ויהבת להון ית ארעא דקימתא לאבהתהון למתן להון ארעא עבדא חלב ודבש:
wdbsh khlb ebda area lhwn lmthn labhthhwn dqymtha area yth lhwn wyhbth
and gave them this land, which you swore to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey.

ועלו ואחסינו יתה ולא קבילו למימרך ובאוריתך לא הליכו ית כל דפקידתא להון למעבד לא עבדו וערעת יתהון ית כל בישתא הדא:
hda byshtha kl yth ythhwn wereth ebdw la lmebd lhwn dpqydtha kl yth hlykw la wbawrythk lmymrk qbylw wla ythh wakhsynw welw
They came in and possessed it, but they didn’t obey your voice and didn’t walk in your law. They have done nothing of all that you commanded them to do. Therefore you have caused all this evil to come upon them.

הא מליתא עלו על קרתא למכבשה וקרתא אתמסרת בידא דכסדאי דמגיחין קרבא עלה מן קדם דקטלין בחרבא וכפנא ומותא ודמלילתא הוה וקדמך גלי:
gly wqdmk hwh wdmlyltha wmwtha wkpna bkhrba dqTlyn qdm mn elh qrba dmgykhyn dksday byda athmsrth wqrtha lmkbshh qrtha el elw mlytha ha
“Behold, siege ramps have been built against the city to take it. The city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fight against it, because of the sword, of the famine, and of the pestilence. What you have spoken has happened. Behold, you see it.

ואת אמרת לי יי אלהים זבון לך חקלא בכספא ואסהיד סהדין וקרתא אמסרת בידא דכסדאי:
dksday byda amsrth wqrtha shdyn washyd bkspa khqla lk zbwn alhym yy ly amrth wath
You have said to me, Lord Yahweh, ‘Buy the field for money, and call witnesses;’ whereas the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.”

והוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עם ירמיה למימר:
lmymr yrmyh em yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm whwh
Then Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, saying,
27
הא אנא יי אלהא כל בשרא המן קדמי יתכסי כל פתגם:
pthgm kl ythksy qdmy hmn bshra kl alha yy ana ha
“Behold, I am Yahweh, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?
28
בכן כדנן אמר יי האנא מסר ית קרתא הדא בידא דכסדאי וביד נבוכדראצר מלכא דבבל ויכבשנה:
wykbshnh dbbl mlka nbwkdratsr wbyd dksday byda hda qrtha yth msr hana yy amr kdnn bkn
Therefore Yahweh says: Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will take it.

ויעלון כסדאי דמגיחין קרבא על קרתא הדא וידלקון ית קרתא הדא בנורא ויוקדונה וית בתיא דאסיקו בוסמין על אגוריהון לבעלא ונסיכו נסכין לטעות פלחי כוכביא בדיל לארגזא קדמי:
qdmy largza bdyl kwkbya plkhy lTewth nskyn wnsykw lbela agwryhwn el bwsmyn dasyqw bthya wyth wywqdwnh bnwra hda qrtha yth wydlqwn hda qrtha el qrba dmgykhyn ksday wyelwn
The Chaldeans, who fight against this city, will come and set this city on fire, and burn it with the houses on whose roofs they have offered incense to Baal, and poured out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke me to anger.
30
ארי הוו בני ישראל ובני יהודה ברם עבדין דביש קדמי מזעוריהון ארי בני ישראל ברם מרגזין קדמי בעובדי ידיהון אמר יי:
yy amr ydyhwn bewbdy qdmy mrgzyn brm yshral bny ary mzewryhwn qdmy dbysh ebdyn brm yhwdh wbny yshral bny hww ary
“For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have done only that which was evil in my sight from their youth; for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, says Yahweh.
31
ארי רוגזי וחימתי חל בקרתא הדא למן יומא דבנו יתה ועד יומא הדין לאגליותה מקביל מימרי:
mymry mqbyl laglywthh hdyn ywma wed ythh dbnw ywma lmn hda bqrtha khl wkhymthy rwgzy ary
For this city has been to me a provocation of my anger and of my wrath from the day that they built it even to this day, so that I should remove it from before my face,

על כל בישת בני ישראל ובני יהודה דעבדו לארגזא קדמי אינון מלכיהון רברבניהון ונבייהון דשקרא ואנש יהודה ויתבי ירושלם:
yrwshlm wythby yhwdh wansh dshqra wnbyyhwn rbrbnyhwn mlkyhwn aynwn qdmy largza debdw yhwdh wbny yshral bny byshth kl el
because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger—they, their kings, their princes, their priests, their prophets, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
33
ואחזרו בפולחני קדל ולא שויאו דחלתי לקביל אפיהון ושלחית לותהון ית כל עבדי נבייא מקדים ומליף ולית אינון צבן לקבלא אולפן:
awlpn lqbla tsbn aynwn wlyth wmlyp mqdym nbyya ebdy kl yth lwthhwn wshlkhyth apyhwn lqbyl dkhlthy shwyaw wla qdl bpwlkhny wakhzrw
They have turned their backs to me, and not their faces. Although I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not listened to receive instruction.
34
ושויאו שיקוציהון בביתא דאתקרי שמי עלוהי לסאבותיה:
lsabwthyh elwhy shmy dathqry bbytha shyqwtsyhwn wshwyaw
But they set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it.
35
ובנו ית במת בעלא די בחילת בר הנום לאעברא ית בניהון וית בנתהון למולך דלא פקדית באוריתי ולא רעוא קדמי למעבד תועבתא הדא בדיל לחיבא ית דבית יהודה:
yhwdh dbyth yth lkhyba bdyl hda thwebtha lmebd qdmy rewa wla bawrythy pqdyth dla lmwlk bnthhwn wyth bnyhwn yth laebra hnwm br bkhylth dy bela bmth yth wbnw
They built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through fire to Molech, which I didn’t command them. It didn’t even come into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.”
36
וכען בכן כדנן אמר יי אלהא דישראל על קרתא הדא דאתון אמרין אתמסרת בידא דמלכא דבבל בחרבא ובכפנא ובמותא:
wbmwtha wbkpna bkhrba dbbl dmlka byda athmsrth amryn dathwn hda qrtha el dyshral alha yy amr kdnn bkn wken
Now therefore Yahweh, the God of Israel, says concerning this city, about which you say, “It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:”
37
הא אנא מכנש להון מכל מדינתא דאגליתינון לתמן ברוגזי ובחימתי ובתקוף רב ואתיבינון לאתרא הדין ואשרינון לרחצן:
lrkhtsn washrynwn hdyn lathra wathybynwn rb wbthqwp wbkhymthy brwgzy lthmn daglythynwn mdyntha mkl lhwn mknsh ana ha
“Behold, I will gather them out of all the countries where I have driven them in my anger, and in my wrath, and in great indignation; and I will bring them again to this place. I will cause them to dwell safely.
38
ויהון קדמי לעם ואנא אהוי להון לאלה:
lalh lhwn ahwy wana lem qdmy wyhwn
Then they will be my people, and I will be their God.
39
ואתן להון לבא חד ואורח חד למדחל קדמי כל יומיא דייטב להון ולבניהון בתריהון:
bthryhwn wlbnyhwn lhwn dyyTb ywmya kl qdmy lmdkhl khd wawrkh khd lba lhwn wathn
I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, for their good and the good of their children after them.
40
ואגזר להון קים עלם דלא יתוב מימרי מבתריהון לאיטבא להון ית דחלתי אתן בלבהון בדיל דלא יסטון מבתר פולחני:
pwlkhny mbthr ysTwn dla bdyl blbhwn athn dkhlthy yth lhwn layTba mbthryhwn mymry ythwb dla elm qym lhwn wagzr
I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from following them, to do them good. I will put my fear in their hearts, that they may not depart from me.
41
ויחדי מימרי עליהון לאיטבא להון ואקימינון בארעא הדא בקשוט במימרי וברעותי:
wbrewthy bmymry bqshwT hda barea waqymynwn lhwn layTba elyhwn mymry wykhdy
Yes, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.”
42
ארי כדנן אמר יי כמה דאיתיתי על עמא הדין ית כל בישתא רבתא הדא כן אנא מיתי עליהון ית כל טבתא דאנא ממליל עליהון:
elyhwn mmlyl dana Tbtha kl yth elyhwn mythy ana kn hda rbtha byshtha kl yth hdyn ema el daythythy kmh yy amr kdnn ary
For Yahweh says: “Just as I have brought all this great evil on this people, so I will bring on them all the good that I have promised them.

ויזדבנון חקלין בארעא הדא דאתון אמרין צדיא היא מבלי אנשא ובעירא אתמסרת בידא דכסדאי:
dksday byda athmsrth wbeyra ansha mbly hya tsdya amryn dathwn hda barea khqlyn wyzdbnwn
Fields will be bought in this land, about which you say, ‘It is desolate, without man or animal. It is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.’

חקלין בכספא יזבנון ויכתבון בשטרא ויחתמון ויסהדון סהדין בארע שבטא דבנימין ובסחרני ירושלם וכקרויא דבית יהודה ובקרוי טורא ובקירוי שפלתא ובקרוי דרומא ארי אתיב ית גלותהון אמר יי:
yy amr glwthhwn yth athyb ary drwma wbqrwy shpltha wbqyrwy Twra wbqrwy yhwdh dbyth wkqrwya yrwshlm wbskhrny dbnymyn shbTa bare shdyn wyshdwn wykhthmwn bshTra wykthbwn yzbnwn bkspa khqlyn
Men will buy fields for money, sign the deeds, seal them, and call witnesses, in the land of Benjamin, and in the places around Jerusalem, in the cities of Judah, in the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the South; for I will cause their captivity to be reversed,” says Yahweh.
